Yep, I'm a Northerner, but hired a Cajun a few years back. One day, in our cubicle environment, I hear him talking to someone about "coonass" this, and "coonass" that. Never having heard that phrase before, I panicked. We had to go to the conference room for a discussion. He seemed genuinely hurt when I told him my concerns. He explained what it meant, and I apologized to him, but told him, "Man, don't say that up here. Nobody knows what it means."
