John Katshit, Hero to NeverTrump, Is Rude to Airplane Crew and Then Bumps a Passenger After Taking Her Seat Because He Refused to Lower Himself to be Bumped Out of First Class

Thanks to JEM.

Former Ohio gov. John Kasich stole comedian's seat on Alaska Airlines flight after refusing to be downgraded to premium economy when he was bumped out of first class to make room for a pilot

Julie Klausner got on the Alaska Airlines flight on January 16 to find Kasich in her seat

She did not confront him but asked staff who explained that he had refused to be downgraded to premium

A pilot who had to fly at the other end of the journey had been given Kasich's seat and he was bumped out because he paid the least, the airline said

Instead of moving, he jumped into Klausner's seat because it was empty

She got off the plane after standing at the front with staff, in front of him, because she said she did not want to cause a 'stink'

Kasich, she claimed, had already been unpleasant to the staff on board

Klausner tweeted about the incident and also discussed it in her podcast

Kasich, who until January 3 had the use of private, state aircraft, has not commented

He had been behaving like a 'douchebag a**hole' in the lounge beforehand, she said

These NeverTrumpers have such character and class and possess first-class temperaments, is what they're always insisting to me.

He knows I'm standing right in front of him because that's my seat. Finally a ticket agent comes on the plane and looks and sees that John Kasich is sitting there and he shook his head and he says, "This guy was downgraded and he refused to go into the seat he was newly assigned and he sat in yours and that's your seat,"" Klausner said in her podcast.

'Instead of saying, OK I'm going to go sit in 12C which has the extra legroom, she said it was premium and not economy, he got really mad and was a total d**k to the staff and sat in my staff instead.

'That is what was told to me,' she added.

There's a picture of Katshit just having planted himself in the stolen seat and pretending he's not aware of the person standing inches to his right telling the stewardress that he stole her seat.

Not entitled at all.

Maybe The BullFluffer (the Bulwark) can try to spare his public image by doing a photoshop where he's wearing those Meme Sunglasses that were cool five years ago never.

Speaking of character and class and a complete lack of entitlement, The BullFluffer (The Bulwark) apparently finds that its allowance from a leftwing billionaire just isn't enough cash to live life as big as they might like.

So they're rattling their tin cups, begging for donations. In exchange for the donation, you get JV Last's smoking-hot newsletter. You know, the one where he finally admitted that he was actually a Hillary Clinton supporter after refusing to confess that lo these last three years of deceit.

Here's their pitch: "Please send us money, we need your money to take on these other grifters (besides us)."

We face a two-fold challenge today: not merely resisting the pressures of the Left, but also a conservative movement that is being driven by grifters and mountebanks into a dark hole of nativism [opposition to the corporate cuck open borders agenda] protectionism [ditto], isolationism [ditto], and fabulism [claims that open borders reduces wages and job opportunities for actual Americans].

The Bulwark will stand in the breach and shout, "You can't be serious?"

Wow. What a rousing call to arms. Like Henry V.

Talk more about your manbaby obsessions like superhero movies and gay nerd shit, Jonathan.

95 Mountebank derives from the Italian montimbanco, which was formed by combining the verb "montare" ("to mount"), the preposition "in" (converted to im,
meaning "in" or "on"), and the noun "banco" ("bench"). Put these
components together and you can deduce the literal origins of
"mountebank" as someone mounted on a bench - the "bench" being the
platform on which charlatans from the 16th and 17th centuries would
stand to sell their phony medicines. Mountebanks often included various
forms of light entertainment on stage in order to attract customers.
Later, extended uses of "mountebank" referred to someone who falsely
claims to have knowledge about a particular subject or a person who
simply pretends to be something he or she is not in order to gain
attention.

I'll bet that if he were reasonable and said something like "Okay, I'll go to premium economy but I'd still like to drink and use the forward lavatory" then they'd have agreed to that.

While I agree, IF, and I'm stretching a little to defend the airline, if it was a long enough flight the pilot had to sleep then first class may be mandatory. lay flat seats and all. but idk if this flight would qualify.

but I have noticed pilots sleeping in first when doing long haul flights.

but that doesn't account for the airline NOT HAVING MADE that arrangement prior to selling the seats.

but either way, this ends with the mail-douche being treated special

One serious screw into a stud will hold against 5,000 of pressure against it. If people looked into their kitchen cabinets and saw how few screws were holding them up they might get nervous. But it's actually getting the correct length screw deeply into the center of the stud that's most important. If you're spanning a distance of three studs, sure it would be nice to hit all three, but one out of three is okay. Wall anchors on the other two is good.

335 I've seen transiting pilots go up into the cockpit, and ride in the "jump-seat", which is most often used by FAA Flight Examiners.

That's not a comfy seat, by the way, but it's a great view, being situated directly abaft the center-console.

'Bout 1980, I was on a TACA airlines flight out of Houston, heading for Costa Rica. I was the contract-photographer for a church group which was going to put on crusades and services there.

Soon as we're out of U.S. airspace, the stewardess (yes, that's what she was, then), came to tell me that the pilot wanted to see me up in the cockpit. Needless to say, my first thought was "what'd I do wrong?"

Turns out, the pilot had seen me festooned with Nikon gear and carrying a large nylon gear bag in one hand and a Halliburton camera case in the other. He was a serious shutterbug himself, and wanted to talk cameras while the autopilot flew the plane between landings.

Of which, there were plenty. Turns out our flight was NOT "direct" to San Jose. Nope.

Landed in every country between the USA and Costa Rica. And twice in Mexico.

That view out of the jump seat was spectacular, and so were the photos.

The jump seat itself though? NOT luxurious, not even slightly.

And of course, since 9/11, an invite like that one to the flight deck, just ain't gonna happen ever again.

360 @311 Chuck Schumer called a flight attendant a bitch for making him turn his phone off and has been re-elected twice.

Patrick Kennedy assaulted and verbally abused an airport baggage worker. Handily won re-election.
---------------------

That's local stuff, though. Different dynamics in play, as you're talking about a much more limited voter base. Additionally, the people being abused were employees, as opposed to random members of the public.

Plus, one of those guys had Kennedy at the end of his name.

Presidential (and even "merely" gubernatorial, imo) is a whole 'nother ballgame. At that level, it becomes cost effective for an "unaligned" PAC to start running ads 24/7 that paint your opponent as the entitled twerp who steals seats from women.

John "Son of a Mailman" Kasich instead becomes John "Seat Thief" Kasich.

If Kasich had merely yelled at the employees, or refused to budge out of his originally assigned seat, it'd be one thing. And I don't think that would hurt his chances badly in a future election. But stealing the seat of a random passenger makes this much worse than it otherwise could have been.

The flexibility in terms of what you can build really is amazing though. The lack of ability to customize things in 4th edition is why I skipped over it. 5th edition seems to be trying to balance the considerations of out of box viability and customization, but looks like it will be ruined by SJW influence.

The pilot might be a "must fly" because
a) some other pilot got sick
b) because of weather, some other crew will time out
c) the pilot is from another airline

"schedule shit better next time" is not a solution.
It's travel. Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's not.

If you "fix" this problem, something else will get worse.
We used to have a problem where maybe one or two planes a year got stuck on the tarmac for 4+ hours. Now, to avoid the fine from that, the airlines just cancel any flights that might be affected.

But objecting to being seated between two people who effectively ocupy three seats, even loudly and impolitely, I can live with. If that's the case, she wasn't really getting what she paid for, and as a rider of public transport, I can sympathize.

I understand that somewhere along the way this country decided 300 pounds is normal for someone 5'5" but I don't think I should have to "share" my already cramped seat with them just because they can't confine themselves to their own.

415 On the subject of flying. The Wifey and I flew out for a Christmas trip last month and, on the return flight home, I was "randomly selected" for extra screening. Wifey collected our carry-ons from the x-ray conveyor and took a seat to wait for me. 7-8 minutes later, a TSA guy comes up and asks if I had any bags, and I told him that my wife had it. So, he asked to see it and searched it. Finding nothing of interest, he gave it back and wished me a safe flight.

Had I or my wife any ill intent, she could have had my bag anywhere in that airport terminal while I was waiting for the extra screening. Top. Men.

427 The discussion about abortion reminds me of something I recently saw. A YouTuber who's married to a Chinese national, and who was living in China up until recently, put up a video discussing the reasons why he and his wife decided to have their second kid in the US instead of China. There were a number of reasons provided (including better care options). But one of the darker ones was the fact that at least one hospital that he'd visited had the ward where abortions were performed right next to the ward where babies were delivered.

He found that just a little bit disturbing.

430 I can accept that some people enjoy playing a class that is weak early, and strong late, but that isn't at all apparent to players on the surface, and ends up needing a bunch of house ruling because eventually some people end up feeling useless.

Posted by: Someguy at January 30, 2019 01:42 PM (WYC5Y)

If we're talking about game design, I don't think "well, if the players are smart and competent, and agree to what they're doing it works fine" is a good argument, because if that's the case, you'll have fun no matter what you play.

I won't tell you how to have fun, but my definition of a good system is one that works well out of the box without having to do a lot of tinkering and isn't easily broken by the players. 3.5 doesn't do that by itself.

I usually don't harp about casting in movies, but de Palma hiring Swank as the femme fatale in The Black Dahlia was one of its bigger problems.

482 my definition of a good system is one that works well out of the box without having to do a lot of tinkering and isn't easily broken by the players. 3.5 doesn't do that by itself.

Back when 3.5 came out, I had a friend in our group raving about it, so I took a look at it. It looked like it was going to be a real pain to run even if I could decipher the rules, which I wasn't sure I could do. So I asked him to run a couple of sessions.

He came back a couple of weeks later and said it was even more complicated than it looked, and was too much work to run.

I will say about 5E that, while I wouldn't want to run it, it is not for reasons of complexity; 5E is very simple, at least to create a character for. And it is by far the best-edited D&D rulebook I have ever read.

Posted by: joe, living dangerously at January 30, 2019 01:48 PM (KUaJL)

There's a framework for highly complex and powerful characters that I didn't have to build. And rules that I don't have to invent for any number of miscellaneous activities.

Any game that allows for stronger and weaker characters will have imbalance, its the tradeoff for flexibility. In 4e they tried to address that by making all classes virtual clones of each other. If a group doesn't work well together and mesh, you're going to have a bad time either way.

In terms of tinkering its only something I've started doing the last year or so to make certain character concepts more viable at certain levels of play. Before then we played RAW for years without much problem, just occasional banning of certain combinations(infinite attacks, invincibility).

It's been a long time, but IIRC you just dump salt in a cup of warm water until the dice floats. Then you can give it a few spins to see if it gives random results.

Or if it gives predictable results, I guess. But only if you're inclined to hold something like that in the back of your mind for those certain times predictable results might be valuable.

Surely the airline should know beforehand if one of their employees is going to have to deadhead on a flight, and hold a seat in reserve for that person.

And if they absolutely must bump somebody, why not ask for passengers to volunteer, with some sort of comp to sweeten the deal?

What if Qualudes had this magical ability to make women feel better about themselves? Their bodies, their facial appearance, perhaps less caring about what other people said about them. They got better sleep at night, woke up rested in the morning. They enjoyed sex and found it an important part of their lives.

Seems like a perfect drug that would make about 95% of the SJW's types retire from combat.

I'm devoting the remainder of my life, or until the end of business hours today, to continue my relentless pursuit of making them legal again. For women only though. Guys get the same effect from a couple of cans of beer.

643 What I don't understand is why the deadheading pilot didn't take the "economy premium" or whatever it was seat. I've flown countless times with airline employees, pilots and flight attendants, deadheading somewhere, and they always sat back in coach with the plebes. Never saw one flying first class.

There was one time years ago I was flying home from New York (business trip) and when we landed at IAH and got to the gate, the flight attendant got on the PA and told everyone to remain seated until told otherwise. Didn't take long for the word to spread that then-Houston mayor Kathy Whitmire was on the plane, and she insisted that no one be allowed to deplane until she got off and drove away in her limo, which was waiting on the tarmac. Knowing "Kathy Whitless" as she was known as most of us did, this was not a surprise.

Time. Running an auction would take extra time.
If they are dealing with this on the plane, they found out about the deadheading pilot after boarding started.

If you are involuntarily bumped, the compensation is set :

1 - 2 hours: 2 x your one-way up to $675
> 2 hours 4 x your one-way up to $1350
The above is in addition to putting you on the next flight to your destination.

647 I looked at the link to the contribution page of The Bulwark. It says this about the funds they're soliciting:

-------------

The organization has applied for federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law...

Of course if IRS denies the exemption, then those contributions made during the application period become non-deductible.
----------
In other words, please contribute under the assumption that your funds are tax-deductible, but if it turns out they're not - suckers! No refund.

Pathetic.
