The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg
"So failed presidential candidate Mitt Romney took to the op-ed pages of the WaPo to lambaste President Trump's character, by which he means banging porn starlets and publishing mean tweets. Presumably, Romney doesn't do these awful things, which makes him, in his mind, morally superior to Donald Trump. But there's more to 'character' than this. For example, there's courage. There's commitment. There's leadership. There's not backing down, caving in to criticism, and sticking to a course of action when things get tough. To my knowlesge, none of these characteristics have ever been attributed to Mitt Romney. In fact, in recent years, Romney has turned out to be quite a weasely little Vichy Republican, kind of like Evan McMullin, but with not as much estrogen. Oh, and then he whines, quote, Trump's words and actions have caused dismay around the world, unquote. So why is that a bad thing? A lot of these guys, you *want* to have dismayed. I'm sure Robert E. Lee was "dismayed" by General Grant on more than one occasion. And no doubt the Soviets were "dismayed" by Ronald Reagan. That's what we call a feature, not a bug. If you're not pissing somebody off, you're not doing your job. Trump understand this. Mittens does not. There's speculation that this op-ed is Romney getting into position for the 2020 primaries. Which makes me wonder what Mitt's advisors are telling him, because I don't see any big groundswell of support for a Romney presidency. He'll find this out the hard way if he keeps up his weasel act. If he dares to put up a primary challenge in 2020, Trump is going to schlong him good and hard. Nobody likes a backstabbing coward."

Post-modernism/critical theory. Everything - *everything* - is socially constructed. Things like logic, physics, biology, etc. don't actually exist outside of our social construct, thus they are also all mutable.

The left is has embraced the flawed premise that 'your perception is reality'.

Its not, Reality is reality, and in fact if you misperceive reality enough, you are insane.

But the Left has built their entire worldview upon this flawed premise.

And as everyone who took Geometry knows, you can build a proof on a flawed premise, but it does not make it true.

well it turns out if a teacher supports Trump maybe they can be fired, but too many are libs teaching the evils of America, the glories of communism. 4) Go right back to being a Resistance icon.

Mitt can justify this with Orange Man Bad all day long, but the fact is Donald Trump has gone out of his way to invoke trade wars and deregulation on behalf of the American people. Mitt Romney sees America as a corpse to be chopped up and sold to the highest bidder. In the end, focusing on the speck in Trump's eye is what Pharisees have done since Christ's day. There is hinted at nudity in Due Notte Con Cleopatra, but it's an awful movie and she may have a skin suit on.

There are a couple of nipple peeks in Peccatto Che Sei un Canaille, but those are only for the dedicated.

206 What makes Romney such a cowardly shit is that he's attacking the one public figure that it's ok to attack. That's about as brave as people who attack Christianity because they know that, unlike Islam, they have nothing to fear.

Trump's only sin is that he has been more effective in implementing what people voted for him to do, than any president since Reagan. He has removed the GOP cucks' fig leaf and shown the real reason for their fecklessness is because they really are liberals underneath the skin and they don't want to fix anything.

That's why the left wants to impeach him. For being effective, for doing what any moral politician should do, ie. doing right by your base.

Please reference my speech to the 3rd Army in 1944 on why DJT is a real American and you are just a
LOSER

Men, all this stuff you hear about America not wanting to fight, wanting to stay out of the war, is a lot of bullshit. Americans love to fight. All real Americans love the sting and clash of battle. When you were kids, you all admired the champion marble shooter, the fastest runner, the big-league ball players and the toughest boxers. Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser. Americans play to win all the time. That's why Americans have never lost and will never lose a war. The very thought of losing is hateful to Americans. Battle is the most significant competition in which a man can indulge. It brings out all that is best and it removes all that is base.

Easy! One aims to exist *in charge of everyone else*, because the denying the existence of objective reality is a pretty damn powerful ideological tool.
If there is no truth, then there is no reason not to change your position every two weeks to whatever gives you an advantage at the moment. That it drives your opponents bonkers, makes them self identify, and humiliates them once you have the power to force them to go along with it is just a bonus.
It's also the key element that allows them to make the most out of the "we're always right because we're better than you" thing. These two ideas are pretty much the only thing the progs believe in.

He had arguably won the first debate. It was in that second (I think) debate, and he made a pretty strong statement, but the debate moderator ( a lady whose name I don't recall right now) told him he was wrong. That was his time to fire right back at her ("No, ma'am, YOU are wrong, and fact check it after the debate if you like. And your job is to moderate, not parrot Democrat talking points, etc. etc.)

He didn't. He visibly flinched and then retreated - to be harsh, like a new prison fish who was just tested and failed. I remember thinking, "He's done."

I had one once, through a weird confluence of events. I was on a United flight from SFO to DEN and we were about to push away from the gate when the pilot comes on and says, "I hate to do this to you folks, but I have to leave. I just got some family news and I have to stay here - and trust me, you don't want me flying this plane right now, anyway. I have talked with our dispatch office and they're trying to find you a new pilot to get you to Denver, but it isn't go to me."

Then he left. Thankfully, DEN is a United hub and they found us another pilot within a half hour. She was a woman and we took off as soon as she got there. Oddest thing I have encountered on a commercial flight.

I just binge-watched Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime yesterday. It was my last day day off before returning to work today.

I really enjoyed it. Good plot line, plenty of action, with minimal PC platitudes about Islam.
(Of course there were a few, but they seemed obligatory and thrown in just to balance the otherwise accurate portrait of the viciousness of Islam)

John Kracinski was excellent in 13 hours and this series as well. I suspect he is not as batshit lefty as his Hollywood colleagues.

Posted by: McCool at January 04, 2019 11:22 AM (WXSv6)

My brother insisted that I start watching it while I was out at his place for Christmas, and I finished the last episode last weekend. Damned good series, for the same reasons you stated.

One quibble though. The terrorist plot is rather complex and technically proficient to be the product of mohammedans. Which is fine for Hollywood and effective drama, but it doesn't really jive with reality. In fact, the season finale is kind of what inspired my mohammedan rant earlier this morning on the Morning Report thread.

Still, the series is worth watching.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and Republican Rep Francis Rooney have introduced a constitutional amendment that would impose term limits on members of Congress.

The proposal would apply to members of both the House and Senate.

The proposal restricts senators to two six-year terms and House members to three two-year terms.

Not sure how I feel about a Rep's entire tenure potentially occurring during a single presidential administration. I sort of would prefer the symmetry of both Reps and senators having the same max tenure.

290 Of course all the irony meters are long broken, and it's a vast wasteland of civic illiteracy and mindless tribalism in the place of thinking out there, but as Steve and Cold Bear and others have noted, Trump has the greatest political integrity of any recent political figure (possibly). Only one even in the same category would be Reagan.

And for fun, let's review the International Dismay Index, briefly.

Japan (major country/economy, unique category but within it a solid ally since You Know When) - um, in a characteristically quiet way, thrilled to death with Trump, mostly because of his confronting China, after a long period of indulgence and then outright weakness under Obama, just as Beijing was entering a much more aggressive phase.

Eastern Europe - Poland, Czech Rep., Hungary. Um, no exaggeration to say thrilled with Trump, for lots of reasons. Poland has offered to host transferred NATO facilities from Germany at a "Fort Trump", to give some flavor of the prevailing feelings about the crass NYC real estate developer there.

Other Europe - Austria, Italy, themselves struggling to chart a Trumpian course on several issues, openly align themselves with some of Trump's most "controversial" themes and moves.

Middle East - the incredible de facto Israeli/Sunni Arab alliance that Obama's idiocy helped forge is ecstatic about Trump's wise move to reciprocate Iran's hostility and accept the war that toxic regime has unleashed on us for a generation.

Brazil - largest country and economy south of the border - just inaugurated an open Trump fan who is likely to make Trump look shy and moderate in his breaking with stupid, destructive "mainstream" assumptions and policies.

Whoever is advising Mitt on foreign policy might want to get out more.

299 I wouldn't emulate Trump's personal life, but as far as the Presidency at this time goes, he has demonstrated more character than almost any of our other options would have. Case in point - not backing down in the face of the Kavanaugh character assassination. Twice failed presidential candidate Mitt would have folded in a heartbeat.

This is the same person who first denounced Trump when Trump was running, then supported him when he (Romney) was running, and to start out his term took to the pages of a newspaper that is intent on tearing down his party to rip the same Trump. And he dares talk about character.

He needs to be humble and act like the junior Senator he is, sit down, shut up, and learn something from his superiors.

310 Truth appears

• 224 times in the King James.
• 41 in Psalms alone.
• 109 in the New Testament, including
• 22 in John.

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me.

John 18:37-38 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then?

Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? [Let's have a good philosophical dialectic before I have you flogged and crucified, okay? What?]

- - - -

Yup, think you could see him realize during the 2nd debate that it was all rigged.
I recall getting the feeling Trump had come to the same realization after the 3rd debate - not during the debate, but the next night during his brief speech at that Catholic fundraising dinner in NYC (the one where he slammed Hillary and all those in the room who had at one time called him friend, welcomed him into their homes when they wanted his $$$ but now treated him like a leper as the GOP candidate). I imagine this paradigm shift happens to every prominent Republican in DC at some point --- so many individual events put together come into focus and identify how things really work (Dems and MSM in bed, with help from GOP/conservative "allies").

I recall getting the feeling Trump had come to the same realization
after the 3rd debate - not during the debate, but the next night during
his brief speech at that Catholic fundraising dinner in NYC (the one
where he slammed Hillary and all those in the room who had at one time
called him friend, welcomed him into their homes when they wanted his
$$$ but now treated him like a leper as the GOP candidate). I imagine
this paradigm shift happens to every prominent Republican in DC at some
point --- so many individual events put together come into focus and
identify how things really work (Dems and MSM in bed, with help from
GOP/conservative "allies").

I'm actually okay with this in this sense:

A president candidate should have to show all voters the same level of background and documentary scrutiny that a potential employee would to any employer. And since this is a high-security job, even greater than for the ordinary civilian.

Stuff like transcripts, proof of citizenship, tax returns, criminal records, etc.

That way we wouldn't have to worry about the press failing to do its job of due diligence in digging into the background of these people.

I'm unconcerned with what tax returns will allegedly reveal, there's not going to be some huge fraud uncovered or the IRS would have nailed him and revealed it in 2016.

429 Romney is going to run in the 2020 primary. Obviously. What he's not thinking about is how he going to be savaged by Trump. Romneycare was an abject failure that led to the Mass. legislature playing around with a $2,000 annual tax of all taxpayers in Mass. to bail it out. Mental health care is in the toilet in that state as a result. Additionally, Romney has no idea how to fight. He's all about optics. That approach will be seen by the vast majority of Republicans as squishy amateurism.

He thought Obama gave him a rough time in an election. He hasn't seen anything yet. Looking forward to seeing what nickname he gets saddled with.

440 The idea that there is no truth is self-refuting.

In order for the notion to be valid, it must be taken as a universal truth... but it also says there aren't any.

Sure, if you say there are no absolutes, you've just made an absolute statement, which destroys your argument. This was detonated a century ago, but people still cling to it and bring it up mindlessly even after having it shredded before their eyes.

Why? Because there are consequences to absolutes which they do not care to agree to or submit to. Better to live that which you know is a lie than recognize these consequences.

I disagree. The tax laws are so complex that the IRS does not even know how to implement them.

If you call the IRS with a question 3 times, you will usually get different answers.

Make it a large corporation? and you will be able to find 'some' tax expert who will find something to quibble about... which will lead to court cases.

That way we wouldn't have to worry about the press failing to do its job of due diligence in digging into the background of these people.

But I think the realization is there for all of us (as per Ace's post a couple of days ago) that our purported allies and spokespeople are really liberals under their RINO suits. They want the status quo; they don't want to disrupt it. That's why their muted criticism of the Obama regime contrasts with the stern, "How dare you!" reactions to Trump.
