EMT 12/30/18

Sorry about yesterday. I either slept through my alarm, or was abducted by aliens.

If this EMT doesn't get posted, I'm betting on aliens.

1 Good Morning Morons today is Sunday, December 30, 2018. On this day in 1853 The United States purchased land from Mexico via the Gadsden Purchase to facilitate building the southern route of the Transcontinental railroad line.

I say he will wait a long time because the communists think they have a good issue here (they don't). And the public has finally wised up to the MFM so they will not help this time.

6 Utah has a new DUI law going into effect before New Year's that lowers the limit from the federally mandated (by Bill Clinton executive order) of 0.08 to 0.05. IIANM you can lower the limit below 0.08 but not raise it above. These were pushed through by MADD idiots who want to bring back prohibition. There is no scientific evidence to support either limit. The overwhelming majority of DUI accidents are cause by habitual drunks with a BAL above 0.20.

I don't think so. He references Traitor Roberts in hear who has shown himself to like the clearly unconstitutiuonal nationalization of health care.

And that's it for today. My cable has been going in and out all night long and I had a devil of a time getting these links. Wifey said she would go down to the cable office this week. I tried to file for a service call using their internet site but they wanted a customer number which is about a 50 digit POS that is on your bill. We have direct pay so we get no bills. I am about fed up and ready to go to Hughes net. Its slower on the upload speeds but just as fast on the downloads as the shitty cable we have here.

Most people rarely need the upload speed. I have FIOS 25/25 and whenever I speed check it the upload is never much more then 5.

Most likely you have an old copper wire based system and it has rain issues. Which was ComCast in my area. Pathetic whenever it would rain, and for days afterwards. You'd call customer support in India and some 'tard would press a button which would put a little current into the line to supposedly dry out the connections. Sometimes it would work. Most times not much.

We supposedly have fiber optics here but our cable system is a POS and always has been. There have been so many complaints the FCC came in one year and told them to get their shit together or lose their license. Their shit is still not together but they are a 'new' company now called "spectrum".

No I have always had my own modem and router since it was originally installed. The assholes tried charging me $5/month for it last year and I told them it was my modem and they could kiss my ass. 35 On my old XP computer I had a link to the modem address and could look at the signal strength I had coming in upstream and down stream of the modem and router. The signal goes to shit two or three times a day now. They have a line amplifier going bad somewhere and I suspect I am not the only one in the neighborhood having problems. But most of the people here have switched over to satellite for TV and never notice it.

38 The problem isn't the modem. And unfortunately you can't just change the modem. If you get a new modem the cable people have to change your address before you can get anything.

Not a lot. Still on the raw meat and rice diet, with a scoop of Dinovite for the last five days or so. He loves the food and I have never seen him get so excited at dinnertime, but there has been no dramatic change yet. I got him a thunder shirt too, which surprisingly he seems to like wearing.

If I leave his cone off overnight though when I can't watch him he will start chewing on his back again. He seems healthy and happy otherwise.

I'm trying to set up a couple directional signal antennas to go to a separate location, but found these things can go like 15 miles, line of sight, and almost as fast as fiber. Don't be deceived about the effort involved. I take a frozen salmon, wrapped, and toss it into the sous vide, set the temp, press start, and ignore it. Total time: about one minute.

About an hour later I extract the bag, open it up, and toss salmon onto preheated, pre-oiled grill. Total time: about one minute.

137 Saw Black Mirror "Bandersnatch" last night-

Technologically, it's a cool achievement. You do get to make choices for the main character.

They ease you into the idea with trivial choices like;
"Sugar Puffs or Frosted Flakes?" for breakfast and you're given 5-10 seconds for that decision.

To later decisions like "Kill Dad or Yell at him?" where you're given maybe 3-4 seconds to choose.

The story is less of an achievement as they really didn't seem to know how to end it. It just sort of ended.

I've read there are five different possible outcomes, so maybe we got the lamest outcome possible.

I might try it one more time and simply take the most extreme choice each time, as extreme and "feel bad" stories is what "Black Mirror" is all about. Maybe I'll get decent ending. Not sure though as it felt like a waste of time when it was over.

For a fun time at the Movies, check out "Aquaman".

It's pretty much a perfect comic book movie. Lots of fun. Brisk direction. Fairly tight script. Good committed comic book acting. Crazy sea life centered production design.

See on the biggest screen you can in 3D.

169 Except...that statistic is total bullshit.

It might be, but saying "weed" is easier than recognizing that far too many OBWs (occupants behind the wheel) especially in the Austin area are stoked up on Ambien, anti-psychotics, anti-depressants, cocktails of all sorts of psychotropics, along with weed and booze.

I would say that at least half of this area's driving population at any given time would fail OSHA medication screen to operate a forklift.

It's funny cause my first instinct was to say about 7.5 hours. I guess it's a Texas thing to give "distance" in "time".

Yeah, that's true. Probably because a trip may be a 100 miles of interstate or 100 miles of country road here.

Or a Western state thing

After we moved from CO to New England my son mentioned wanting to visit a place and said, "It's only 3 hours away, mom!" Heh - 3 hours in NE can be 3-4 states depending on where you start/finish. "Ask me how I know you're not from around here."

Ace is ranked at Alexa. Number eleven. I think PJ Media are a bunch of hacks.

Basic research. Basic. You had one job.
Posted by: Newest Nic at December 30, 2018 08:33 AM (jYje5)

At Alexa, what's at no. 11 is mu.nu, which probably is almost entirely Ace--and PJMedia could probably choose to lump all sites on the mu.nu domain together (like they've lumped PJMedia and Instapundit together, saying they're on one domain). But there's nothing off at all about Ace's listing on SimilarWeb, and that should be enough to get Ace listed in the article listing.

I remember when Chernobyl blew it's top, radiation sensors in countries to the west of the USSR started going off first - away from prevailing winds.

Why?

Because the radioactive particles went 23/24th of the way around the world before dropping from the sky. So to blame China for increased rainfall on the USA east coast isn't too much of a stretch. I've read that they fire up a brand new coal fired plant a couple times a week.

Posted by: I'm Brother Cavil, and I recommend The Courage To Be Disliked at December 30, 2018 08:53 AM (lLeln)

My guess is they are afraid to act because so many do it. Just as an example, the PGA Tour banned cell phone pics and recording at tournaments for years, then they finally gave up and allowed them. The reason was simple, no one was obeying the rule and it would be too much of a pain in the ass to enforce it. Funny thing about laws. If the majority are breaking a law, it makes it very difficult to enforce and get people to support your crack down.

189 The only time it didn't take me hours to fly locally was in 2007 when I flew to Dallas to get my new Tahoe and drive it back to Austin. I had no luggage, husband dropped me at the curb 30 minutes before take off, pretty much walked right onto the plane, then after landing, walked out of the door and my ride was waiting. Took less than 1.5 hours. Couldn't do the same thing today in under 3 hours which is about what it takes to drive it....

Hawkspawn got pulled over for texting and driving in NYC, and got a substantial ticket. He was using his phone to navigate. Not texting or typing at all. Cop didn't want to hear it. So, they'll write the ticket, if you happen to be driving in NYC with a Wyoming tag.

191 I'm reading up on Ultima Thule, an unofficial name for the Kuiper Belt object 2014 MU69.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/(48695_2014_MU69

The spacecraft New Horizons, which flew by Pluto in 2015, will fly past it on January 1. Since the spacefrast was still healthy after the Pluto flyby, Ultima Thule was chosen as a secondary target.

It is the first object selected for a flyby that was discovered after the spacecraft was launched. Think about that.

194 As little as I pay attention to the MSM, I cannot help knowing that 800,000 federal workers are going into the New Year without a paycheck, many working for free to keep the federal govt going.

I know this is supposed to break my heart but I can't help wondering what hell all those people do? How many are IRS employees tasked with taking a huge chunk of my earnings and how many are involved distributing it to people that hate me? And would any of them give a damn if I wasn't getting a paycheck? And couldn't we do without at least 20% of them no matter what they do?

I suppose that isn't the reaction the MSM wants me to have.

yeah that last part was probably the clincher. Last time I was in NYC people did not drive. Classic joke, "no one drives in NYC or owns a car, because there is way too much traffic". But no joke, at least back in the day, over half the cars were cabs. At least it seemed that way to a tourist.
