1 Good Morning Morons today is Sunday, December 23, 2018. On this day in 1913 the Federal Reserve Act was signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson, creating the Federal Reserve System. This was, and still is a huge mistake, but Hell it was passed when the communists had a majority in both houses and a communist President. But it has been 100 years or more and Republicans have never made an effort to undo this POS.

He also was against easing OH's gun regulations. I somehow doubt he gave a shit about the pay raise.

us of the impending Ice Age. They also told us that the US was now
metric so get used to it. A year or so later they stopped talking about
metric an the "next ice age". But like normals, and unlike now, they did
not try to force global warming on us either, they let it die.

Maybe
global warming is a thing, the issue has become so politicized that it
is almost impossible to hear any proponent without a lot of skepticism.
These people politicized the issue and marginalized themselves. If man
is truly causing a catostrophe, I would think some smart people with no
agenda would be proving this to all.

I think it was Rush who
first brought up the idea of watermelons. Watermelons are leftists who
are green on the outside and red on the inside. The idea is that when
the Soviet Union fell, pinko Americans who hated capitalism needed a new
schtick. They were reds, but they cloaked their anti capitalism in
green. If the Commies could not take down America, the greenies could by
saying capitalism is destroying the earth.

I am open to proof
that global warming is real and man is causing it by building things.
But the issue needs to be de politicized, the fake news has to end and
people need to bring verifiable facts to the table without other

When Obama took office almost 10 years ago, gasoline was a little under $2.00 a gallon. Since then a bunch of states have raised their taxes on gasoline. Subtract those taxes and take another look.

Then factor in a decades worth of inflation.

That is why government project funding does not create job. With prevailing wages you have to hire the best person for the project to get it done on time. So you hire someone already working. Private enterprise usually will not replace this person unless it is 100% critical. And they will never hire a new person, maybe just move someone up!

48 The lowest gas price I saw yesterday was $1.79 here on the MS coast, but based on crude prices over the last week I'm expecting it go quite a bit lower -- During the last crude crash a few years ago, it got down to the mid $1.50s.

At a certain point it no longer becomes profitable to explore for new sources. I think we're there right now.

So supply and demand takes over. If the frackers have to pay higher interest on money they borrow, on top of low net return, it's a prescription for eventual supply disaster.

Let's say I have a $10 coupon and it's good till March, we'll say. I go to the store, buy a $30 gift, use my $10 coupon, give them $20 and go on my merry little way.

A couple days later, I find out my aunt already has says item I bought. I take the item back, and they give me back...$20.

I guess my question/argument is: isn't the purpose of a return to make you equal to where you were before you purchased the item? Well, before I purchased the item, I had a $10 coupon to use, and now I don't. I can understand them not wanting to give $30 to someone who spent $20 BUT.

Wouldn't the ideal thing to do be refund $20 and give them another $10 coupon to use? And, if that's not possible, then refunding $30 is the other option. I am handing them back a $30 item, they should hand me $30.

Honestly, they are just shooting themselves in the foot, because with that $10 coupon, I would have come back to their store and bought something else. And, now I won't.

Am I being reasonable/making sense?

True of oil, gold, and pretty much all commodities. I remember seeing turned off oil rigs in Texas back in the day. There was oil there and the rigs were there, but if the price was not right, they just turned them off, it wasn't worth the effort. Same with gold. There are gold mines that only pay off if the price is right.

I was in an industry dependent on a product produced in the 94% efficiency range. Small fluctuations in supply created huge price swings.

Oil refining is a similar industry. A little too much and the price plummets, a little shortfall and the price skyrockets. They can't just throw a switch on an oil refinery and shut it down for a few weeks. Their only tool seems to be price.

Was watching a presentation about electric grid problems in Australia. An aluminum plant lost power for three hours and was destroyed. I guess stuff cooled down and funged it all up.

I was just doing those exact maths...I paid $1.509 for gas on Thursday...

I also had to pay 18.3� in federal tax & 26.3� in state tax & 6% in sales tax

add it all up & it was $2.069 at the pump

85 Oil refining is a similar industry. A little too much and the price plummets, a little shortfall and the price skyrockets. They can't just throw a switch on an oil refinery and shut it down for a few weeks. Their only tool seems to be price.

I worked at a candy factory. If the power went out for more then 10 minutes, the mass mix would start cooling and everything would have to be dismantled to clean it out. That would take about 2 hours.
They worked with the power company and got another line installed. The worst that would happen is there would be about a 2 second outage. Power would switch over and then the computers for the lines would need to be restarted.

The IRS rate for a car is based on the average overall cost of the car over a ten year period, gas, insurance, maintenance, etc. which according to AAA is close to 76 cents per mile for a medium size car. So you are getting no "good deal' from the IRS.

You'd have to cover a couple of acres with panels to be able to run your house, and a 2000 sq ft building to hold enough batteries to get you thru the night. Solar farms are a big scam in Georgia. They are covering thousands of acres with panels (probably subsidized) that will need constant maintenenace and replacement, and tie-in to the grid. I would be surprised if the pay for themselves in less than 30 years.

Yes, Vic, it does. The volunteer hours the Knights put in to help others, for nothing in return but an appreciative smile once in a while, is unseen by most. A couple days later, I find out my aunt already has says item I bought. I take the item back, and they give me back...$20.

I guess my question/argument is: isn't the purpose of a return to make you equal to where you were before you purchased the item? Well, before I purchased the item, I had a $10 coupon to use, and now I don't. I can understand them not wanting to give $30 to someone who spent $20 BUT.

Wouldn't the ideal thing to do be refund $20 and give them another $10 coupon to use? And, if that's not possible, then refunding $30 is the other option. I am handing them back a $30 item, they should hand me $30.

Honestly, they are just shooting themselves in the foot, because with that $10 coupon, I would have come back to their store and bought something else. And, now I won't.

Am I being reasonable/making sense?
