Was The Weekly Standard Advertising Itself for Purchase by Leftist Billionaires?
ITEM: The Weekly Standard's corporate owner, MediaDC, told it that it was not interested in continuing the magazine but permitted it to find another buyer "months" ago.
That sounds like spin to me-- spin from the Weekly Standard partisans, looking to damage MediaDC for finally getting sick of floating their layabout, endlessly subsidized asses. What MediaDC probably said was We are no longer interested in funding you while you futilely look for a buyer. I'm sure MediaDC would unload this piece of shit if someone actually wanted to buy it. But MediaDC has been forced to pay for this failure while they're looking for a suitor. What they're not looking to do is continue flushing money into the toilet while Senorita Hayes searches for a Spanish Suitor in Barthelona. ITEM: The Standard routinely rejects pieces that are not explicitly anti-Trump. Even pieces that simply point out media bias are rejected because they could be construed as, indirectly supporting Trump given that the media is Trump's partisan enemy. Even pieces pushing normal orthodox conservatism are unwanted, because, I believe the thinking goes, Trump mostly supports orthodox conservatism so a piece that supports orthodox conservatism could be construed as indirectly supporting Trump. Presenting a piece that attacks Fusion GPS can even get you fired. ITEM: The Weekly Standard has taken a harder and harder left turn as their deadline to sell approached. For example, in July, the Weekly Standard ran a cover story hit piece on Devin Nunes by... a Democrat staffer on the Intelligence Committee. (By the way, they identified her as "minority counsel on the Intelligence Committee" instead of "Democrat counsel" because... well, it seems obvious they wanted to avoid that word, no? Maybe some people wouldn't notice.) That's a strange career trajectory, isn't it? Partisan Democrat legislative counsel to... cover story writer for an allegedly conservative magazine? POSSIBLE CONCLUSION: The Weekly Standard first sought out a rich moderate Republican to buy the magazine, then maybe an alleged "independent," and then, in the last few months, began trying to make the magazine 100% friendly to a full-on leftist purchaser like Pierre Omidyar or Tom Steyer or Michael Bloomberg. Or who knows: Maybe even George Soros. All I know is that that it became "antisemitic" to note that George Soros funds the left as George Soros began funding more and more of the former right. These bad-faith charges of antisemitism were promulgated by Weekly Standard personnel. As they grew more desperate, they scrambled to make the magazine more and more friendly to the left, scrubbing out anything that could even be construed as vaguely supportive of standard conservatism -- except where a clear attack line on the left's enemy Trump presented itself. But they failed. Not even a leftist wanted to buy a tainted, failing magazine, even just to continue demoralizing the conservative movement (as the Weekly Standard has been doing for several years running). Possibility? The revelation that Pierre Omidyar was funding Kristol & Co., and the bad press both sides got out of that revelation, spooked the intended White Knight buyer Omidyar from bailing the piece of shit out. Speculation, obviously.
The magazine's precarious position comes after its leadership spent months searching for a buyer, the people told CNN. The people explained that The Weekly Standard's leadership had butted heads with MediaDC, the current publisher of the magazine, and that the two parties had agreed to allow Hayes to search for a new owner. However, MediaDC recently informed The Weekly Standard's leadership that the company was no longer interested in a sale, the people said.

The "This" channel here ran them all this autumn, and have segued into the B & W and then the color Diana Rigg episodes. Honor Blackman was hot in a dominatrix way. I was never sure whether she even liked Steed, let alone had slept with him. The eps were also shot on videotape and almost always in a studio, so they are sort of film-noirish and claustrophobic. But they featured much more "realistic" plotting and situations than came along with the Rigg stories.

While there might be a place in this world for actual, you know, journalism, it seems to me the whole of publishing, as with teevee entertainment (i.e. news outlets) are so infected with the modern concepts of what "journalism" has become, there can't possibly be a real market for such things. And by market I mean, actual buyers of content, who go to these people for information that can't/won't be gotten elsewhere for free.

Back when I was a subscriber, which ended probably around the 2004 election, there were some writers there whose work I greatly appreciated.
I would assume most, if not all of them, are long gone.
And if you are an office worker on a paper publication, I would think long before December 2018, you had an inkling that it might be time to start looking for another job.

Anthony Kearns, one of the original Irish Tenors, has performed in concert twice at our little church (he's a close friend of a member, who's a friend of mine). He's amazing, and one of the nicest people. He dedicated a love song to me and Mr. D'oh during a concert, where I was working on a reception for him. It was our anniversary.

Yeah, it was pretty amazing. My girlfriend asked him to before the concert, because I was working so hard (I met him earlier in the day as I was setting things up). He NEVER dedicates songs to anyone, so it was special.

Must be in the genes. My wife is an Irish blend and has a range that compares to Idena Menzel, Annie Lennox, Sarah McLachlan. She came from a tough Philly school though and got beat up by the other girls and pushed down the staircase for being a goody-two-shoes and getting the lead every year in school plays. So she walked away from it. Sad.

The whole purpose of Christ's coming was to de emphasize the reliance on prayers to God.
God was to take a higher tier and all prayers and guidance would be handled by Jesus. (that's my personal take)
This is what mostly pissed off the Catholic Church as they believe that only thru the intercession of the priesthood can the sinner be saved. Protestants believe that the sinner can save themselves by direct plea to Jesus.

Well it was probably Protestant propaganda but that's what I heard when they talked about the differences and why the Catholic Church was the Whore of Babylon. (you get the drift)
I always thought that besides the political problems brought on by a Sovereign that was not annointed by the church the main reason Catholics despised the Protestants was because of the lessening of the priests influence.
Protestants tended to distribute the Bible where the Church had always kept it to itself and told the lay catholics the priests would intercede with God for them and forgive their sins.
No one should take anything I say about religion as definitive. It's become an amalgam of many beliefs over the years. Sort of like a Spiritual smorgasbord.

Faith alone vs faith and good works. From what I've seen there's a difference in what people understand faith to mean. For Catholics faith means obedience(repentance and good works being a subset of that). Surely the Devil believes in God, so faith must mean more than simply belief in his existence. What faith means to protestants seems to vary immensely.

Back in the days before the Episcopal Church absndoned the 1928 Book of Common Prayer and set out on its quest to become the "Church of Jesus Christ, the Hip and With It", Holy Communion was celebrated on only one Sunday in four per month and on Feast Days. The Nicene Creed was used in that service with the archaic wording (e.g., "very God from very God" instead of today's "true God from true God").
On all other Sundays the service was Morning Prayer and the creed in that was the Apostles' Creed. At those times, then, I was 3x more familiar with the Apostles' Creed, but given how long ago the switch to the new Book of Common Prayer occurred (closing in on fifty years), I have pretty much forgotten it but could probably start 'er up if given the initial phrase.

You are already "saved" by Jesus' death and resurrection. There is no amount of prayer, fasting or other "works" that will save you, and nothing was BIGGER than that. That is the whole point of the New Testament. It was a New Testament in the Blood of Christ.
Your afterlife is determined by whether you believe in Him or not. And per Jesus' own words, if you accept Him on your deathbed, you are as saved as someone who has believed their whole life.
Prayer is important, in terms of "what is your will for me, Lord?"

Your extensive reporting analysis on the traitorous Weekly Standard is NOT being mentioned on Drudge or other alternative outlets. (At least not that I have noticed.)
