Son-of-a-Mailman Bitch: John Katshit Will Veto Pro-Life "Heartbeat" Bill and Pro-2nd-Amendment "Stand Your Ground" Bill

Boy, these True Conservatives get truer and truer by the moment. You'd almost think they were moderately liberal RINOs who merely posture as conservative for branding purposes.

Kind of like all of the NeverTrumpers.

So here's Bill Kristol's super-secret stealth candidate. A super-conservative in the mold of Reagan.

If Kasich follows through with the veto threat, this will be the second time in two years he's vetoed the "heartbeat bill," which would ban abortions in Ohio after a baby's heartbeat can be detected. The "stand your ground" legislation would allow armed Ohioans facing a threat or perceived threat to defend themselves with lethal force in public places with no “duty to retreat."

Kasich, the son of a mailman, signed a 20-week abortion ban in 2016 but vetoed a separate measure that would have protected babies with beating hearts from abortions. He said at the time that the law would have been struck down. "The State of Ohio will be the losing party in that lawsuit and will be forced to cover the legal fees for the pro-choice activists' lawyers," Kasich said. "Therefore, this veto is in the public interest."

On the issue of gun rights, Kasich has been all over the board. As a member of the House in the 1990s, he voted for the controversial so-called "assault weapons ban," joining with Dianne Feinstein and other liberal Democrats to help pass the measure. Since becoming governor, he has been cheered by gun rights activists in the state for signing into law several measures they supported. But in recent months, Kasich has been rattling his saber about the need for stricter gun control laws in the wake of recent mass shootings.

Ohio's lame-duck governor jetted to New Hampshire to test the waters for yet another presidential run.

"I mean, all options are on the table," he told reporters. "And the question is, ultimately, can I have a very positive impact on the country. Kasich said he believes an independent run might be a viable option. "There's a vast ocean in the middle," he said.

I'm sure Ben Howe and Tom Nichols approve of this Super-Conservative repudiation of core conservative agenda goals.

When their kids were in school and when they were in their peak earnings years then they wanted a strong American economy and good schools, etc. Now that their kids are grown up, and the boomers are hitting retirement, they're going to let their freak flags fly, politically speaking.

Only eight things motivate a man in my experience:

1. God

With Kasich, the sniff test rules out 1-5.

It just seems to me the Republican types that couldn't pull the lever for Trump...voted for Hillary. It would be better to waste their vote on a 3rd party than vote Democrat.

And if Kasich is truly going to run as a "centrist" there has to be some issues he disagrees with Democrats on. What issues would those be exactly? Some sort of silly throwaway line about federal spending?

Is there even the reddest of states who could pass a heartbeat law? I just checked.. several have tried.. But even Texas couldn't pass theirs. Most didn't get out of committee.

The woman knows she's pregnant by then (may not at 8 weeks) and should have had ample time to decide whether to abort or not.

After that, chances that the baby is viable increase every single day.. Friends of my daughter who have a now healthy 3 year old who was born at 25 weeks.. it was a struggle for a year.. yep.. But so glad they chose to try to keep him alive.

well, were you going to share the recipe?
Posted by: yankeefifth

1. Break up croutons or gluten free matzoh (gluten free wife) for grist in bottom of bowl. We got a nice, large wooden bowl just for this.
2. Add several anchovie fillets. Chop them up, using the broken up matzoh to aid the process.
3. Separate an egg yolk and add it.
4. Then add: pepper, good mustard, tobasco, Worcestershire, Old bay and minced garlic.
5. mix, and then add some good vinegar ( I use balsamic).
6. Steadily add olive oil. The mixture should thicken as you add it.
7. Add some good quality romano grated cheese.
8. Slowly add the romaine (e coli free works best) and mix. I usually have someone add the lettuce while I concentrate on mixing it and keeping it in the bowl.
9. sprinkle more cheese on top and serve.

The dressing usually holds up for about 20 minutes before settling to the bottom. This will NOT store well.

Trump won the R nomination,Cruz outlasted every other R candidate, one reason being that Kasich, Bush, Graham, Rubio and the rest of the gaggle refused to step aside, all viewing themselves too important.Kasich would have been far better than Romney in 2012, but he was the wrong candidate in the wrong year.Nothing has changed. 264 It was funny that Kasich tried his best to torpedo Trump in OH and he ended up absolutely destroying Hillary there despite that. Shows how much the state "respected" Kasich.

I'll definitely say that even if Trump goes down in flames, it was worth the price of admission to pull the mask off of the conservative movement. We really were the Washington Generals.

I just don't know what happens post-Trump because you'd be amazed how many Republican voters have no idea the subterfuge from within that goes on.

286 As a physician who regularly performs ultrasounds in newly pregnant females, I can tell you that the heart starts beating at 4 weeks. Most women don't know they are pregnant until at least 6-8 weeks at the earliest and finding a heartbeat by transabdominal ultrasound before 10-12 weeks is a challenge. Therefore, it is a de facto ban on abortion as the heart would be beating when the woman finds out she is pregnant, and a pre abortion ultrasound would have to be transvaginal to detect a heartbeat that early. There is no way this would pass court challenge no matter how well intentioned.

..This is actually a fairly easy topic, but only if you really consider what is going on. The key is that you're using the word "we", and there isn't a "we"; there is us and they.
Thought experiment; say it's the middle of ww2 and we learn that one of our opponents, say, Japan (no knock on them, just sake of argument), has decided to start offing a bunch of their children. What does that mean for the prosecution of the war?

Nothing. It changes nothing. Defeating them is still our highest priority, and trying to keep them from committing evil acts upon themselves does a disservice to our those we have a greater responsibility to until we've defeated them.
It's not much different with fighting our own leftists; they mean to destroy and enslave us. Don't mistake them or their children for your countrymen.
This is harsh, but I see far too many people running around with their pants on fire about this topic when it's ultimately pointless.

At least when I used to go down there for the train, they were on the Mall every single day.

I would just stand next to them and give "helpful information" about PP and their history and activities to every person who walked up to them. This would dissuade most people (who don't like people debating things around them).

Then the NPC would go to the next corner, and I'd follow on until I ran out of time, or they quit the field in disgust.

419 I'm not a female, but if I were, and if I were to have unprotected intercourse with a male, then there is a pretty strong possibility that I would know that I could become pregnant.

420 LA and East TN remain my top two final destinations.

The LA I'm thinking of ain't in California.

Posted by: Stagger Lee at November 20, 2018 05:38 PM

...

We'll need you to move here prior to the second Civil War so we know not to shoot you.

Also, people from everywhere are welcome in East TN, but in general we are not interested in how they used to do it where you came from, unless you have knowledge of some previously undisclosed use for bacon/pork or a new process for making whisky cheaper and better.

421 >>And these are the reasons that all of our Self-Appointed Betters are trying to stir up trouble about this.

Yeah, Alwaleed Bin Talal has invested in so many western companies - Fox, Twitter, etc. Can only imagine who in DC he's funded as well, so it makes sense they are all now trying to torpedo the Trump relationship w/the new prince.

He's also the guy who gave Giuliani the huge check right after 9/11 - the one that Rudi returned, God bless him!

423 Lots of action in my neck of the woods today.

Mansion burned to the ground with multiple dead found inside, and at least one dead from gunshot. Police aren't talking, but rumor is they were all shot.

And earlier today, another house in a nearby town went up in flames due to arson. Turns out the owner of that house is the brother of the guy who owns the mansion.

Think a key difference is that Trump is working with the new prince, who jailed all the sketchy guys who have been tight with the DC crowd for decade, particularly that billionaire bastard Bin Talal.

Too soon to tell if the new boss is the same as the old boss, but at least the new guy is starting to modernize SA and working with Israel against Iran. Can you expect much more from an Saudi leader? I don't know enough to have a solid opinion on that.

==========

there's a shit ton of shit going down in the middle east. None of it makes CNN so Fox can't talk about it.

but it seems like Saudis are major players with the USA against MB and ISIS and may or may not be on the right side in Syria (there's this whole thing out there that the USA is actually being duped and siding with the bad guys in Syria but who knows)(that the Russians are helping the actual Christians with Syria but since CNN cannot connect this to a 3 hours gab fest on how this affects the Meuller investigation, they don't care...and thus Fox doesn't care).

425 Wictor had an interesting series of posts about how the new Saudi basically enacted the muz version of a papal edict saying that as the crown saudi prince, it is up to him to interpret islam and he has decided that islam has "introduced" itself to the world so conquest is to be ended and niceness to be started...and things of that nature and that those who disagree (ISIS MB etc) are apostates and therefore must be killed until dead with extreme death.

426 By the way I recommend a new anthology of Western tales by the Coen brothers on Netflix. The name seems to upset Pixy for some reason but its about a ballad

Typically Hollywood accolades serve as a reverse compass for me, but the Coen brothers are and exception.

432 I also enjoyed the Netflix Coen Bros. bit.
A series of Western vignettes.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.

433 Coens are an odd lot. They seem to love the old timey stuff, can make a nihilistic tale in a godless world, while on the other hand can have deep, respectful religious discussions too.

436 Kasich is planning an "independent" run, not to win, but to help elect a Democrat. Sorta like Ryan just did for the House.

Not to mention the stuff China is funding. Plus the usual billionaires and Silicon Valley.

437 I've come to the conclusion that most republican office holders are in fact pro-abortion. They espouse pro-life positions in public because they can fund-raise like crazy on it but once in office they deliberately tank actual legislation efforts. Thus they get credit for "trying to do something" without actually having to DO anything concrete, thus they get the cake and get to eat it too after a fashion.

Prediction: it'll pass, Kaisch will veto and the over-ride vote will fail because there are enough "Maine Sisters" in safe districts. OOOOOHHH! So **CLOSE!!** but as always there will be no cigar.

438 The masks are off and what lies underneath them is pretty scary....these are the "REAL CONSERVATIVES" that the clowns over at The Resurgent push and hype at every opportunity. Kasich, Jeb Bush...I still think they push Kristol and Romney and all that. Pathetic, but a small portion of the electorate have hardcore TDS like them.

By the way, you ever go over there to The Resurgent? Now there are some conservative sellouts, all things revolve around Orange Man Bad. A true mental ward with Susan Wright still bringing the mentally unstable heat.

SAD!
