15 Much upheaval here at mayhem castle yesterday. Had to cut holes in floor to fix broken floor joists. Yes that was plural. Four to be exact. 4 floor joists out of 8 holding up my living room were broken. 150 yr old house sitting on cornerstones rather than foundation. No crawl space so we had to cut holes in living room floor to get under and fix it. Huge mess and gonna be spending much of the day cleaning up.

the "hoist rope" for an elevator in chicago's hancock building broke sending the car plummeting from the 95th to the 11th floor. it took 3 hours for rescuers to break through a wall to get to the 6 stranded passengers. the safety brake finally kicked in and no one was hurt - but what a ride. it's remarkable how rare that is.

41 otis didn't invent the elevator, he invented the safety brake. versions of an elevator existed, but only the brake made then reliable - and the high rise quickly followed.

the elevator must have the best safety record compared to all the other mechanical odes of transportation, e.g. trains, planes and automobiles.

I think it was Mark Twain who used the expression "got sold" which I imagine was short for "got sold down the river". Probably a reference to slavery. I think I've also seen it in 'got sold a bill of goods'. Both highly negative.

Anyway, I wonder when these children will realize they 'got sold' and their life will take forever, perhaps never get back on track.

Received a letter from a local priest yesterday. Apparently a lot of pissed off people in the parish we used to attend, are now boycotting the church. A church that shut down its parish school a number of years back which caused mass departures. Apparently, Frankie changed the numbers on how teacher and employee pensions were funded and placed a higher burden locally. Re-distributing. That term again.

Possibly a 'Hail Mary' letter - pardon the pun. I think they're toast. The cancer is at the very top and until Frankie gets serious and/or is toppled I'm sure the boycotting will continue.

Mrs VIA was approached by a co-worker discussing the Catholic Church which the Co-worker attends.

Seems that there is financial withholdings taking place amongst many of the members.

And oddly enough, those who have stated their reasons do not list the ongoing investigations of abusive Priests.

It is directly attributed to the Churches stance of helping Illegal Immigrants enter the US, and continuing financial support afterward.

Posted by: Tonypete at November 18, 2018 07:35 AM

I'd guess it works the way groups like United Way handle this. Making a contribution to United Way, but don't want it going to, say, Planned Parenthood, and so you 'designate' to go to an acceptable (to you) group.

So United Way sends 'your' money to your designated agency, and it counts toward the percentage of money UW agreed with the agency to deliver. Since most people don't designate a distribution, UW simply sends more 'undesignated' money to (in this instance PP), and everyone gets the amount (percentage) that was agreed upon.

That's the real problem, the millions of dollars that the Catholic church (and others) are getting from the federal government for aiding and abetting the "resettlement" of asylum claimants.

The government has created strong incentives for the churches to continue to advocate for millions of poor foreigners to come here, because the churches make so much money on the deal. They don't care that it strains already strained resources (like health care, education, etc.) in our communities, is unfair to citizens, taxpayers, etc., that it causes social unrest, etc. All they care about is their own bottom line.

So if someone donates a large amount to their favorite designated charity, it simply frees up addition general funds to go to a charity that the giver may not support.

Oddly enough, when Marylanders voted to approve the lottery years ago, it was with the understanding that if a million dollars were generated, it supplemented the budgeted funds going to schools.

But, in reality, if a million was generated, the State simply reduced the monies going to schools from the budget by the exit same amount, freeing it for other uses.

I was stuck on an escalator for 6 hours before someone came and fixed it. Couldn't understand all the people laughing and pointing.

In true people mover news, I was at a Menard's once (basically a more store-like Home Depot) with two floors. They have a long ramp with a conveyor belt to get you and your cart up to the second floor. When you push your card onto the belt, it more or less locks in place until you reach the end.

Anyway, as I was walking past it, there was this little old lady coming down. When she gets to the bottom (where you have to give the cart a good shove to get it off the ramp), she's not strong enough to push her cart off, and there was some one else pretty close behind her. I grabbed hold of her cart, and pulled it off the ramp for her. Not sure what would have happened, otherwise, though I don't think it would have been too pleasant for her.

Then, because of the immutable law of unintended consequences, the local school districts have to have numerous aides in every classroom, proficient in scores of languages, sending the public school costs through the sky. Catholic parents, who wish to have their children attend Catholic schools have to pay for BOTH the public schools and the parish school.

It's an ever-tightening noose around the neck of parents, and it's killing the parish schools.

This really pissed off a lot of people and Houston UW contributions took a major hit as a result. Many of the employers around town who routinely dunned their employees for UW contributions were scrambling to get us to pony up as they were not meeting their money quotas to the United Way. And make no mistake, back in the day if you did not give something to the UW as your bosses demanded, it could and often would have an adverse impact on your career.

Just amazing. The church's website has a free high quality 360° photo of the main hall at https://www.stjohnscocathedral.com/pano-free/. Check it out, and then seriously consider the small donation to access the other 360° photos they offer. Each photo has info boxes on key items. Well, our brains are biologically designed to live in a tribe of maybe 150 people, all of whom we know well.

Sticking us in a society in which we are constantly surrounded by strangers (who the primitive parts of our brain interpret as threats) is guaranteed to make us all a little bonkers.

Mifsud is a Matlese born academic. He has been a professor in the UK for years.

The FBI claimed that Papadopoulos told Alexander Downer who was both the foreign minister from Australia to the UK and a big Clinton fan and donor that Mifsud, who the FBI has claimed is a Russian spy, claimed the Russians had Hillary's emails and were going to be releasing them to the Trump campaign.

In reality, Mifsud is a western intelligence asset who has long ties to both the UK intel world and the US intel world. It is quite likely that Mifsud and Downer were working for the FBI/CIA and they made the whole thing up to frame Papadopoulos and give the FBI the impetus to begin the great Trump/Russia collusion narrative and investigation.

Mifsud has gone missing for almost a year and there were claims that he is dead but his lawyer surfaced the other day saying that Mifsud is very much alive and wants to testify to the Senate Intel Committee.

Is there a federal requirement to keep those provisional ballots for a certain amount of time? I'd like to review them against voter registration and dates they were sent, even though I do not live in CA. And since it is a federal election, I have standing.

JackStraw would be the best person to answer this--he's got a knack for succinct biblios.

Mifsud is the Maltese "professor" who is a mover/shaker in the international scene. He is believed to be one of the people involved in setting up Papadopolous and by extension, Trump, with "Russia collusion."

^^^ That's an extremely broad answer I've just given. The guy's got this thumbs in everything.

261 I think we only have the barest hints about the conspiracies that are going on behind the scenes.

For example: How long was Obama groomed for the presidency, and who was behind it? Seems like someone had big plans for him from an early age.

262 'A very large very red-tailed hawk just flew by the front window and up into a nearby tree.'

The Mrs and I have seen two unusually large hawks in two different locations in the last week. Maybe they are getting bigger because of the climate change.

263 255 I do believe so, 1 - thats why Snipes got in trouble ( but didn't pay for the mistake) and 2nd I have a co-worker whose wife is a election official and he said they have to keep written ballots for so many years.

264 Just hoping the site I've seen this stuff is the real deal.

A lot of "proofs" to show it is but the last week has made me wonder a bit.

But then... my deciphering skills,,, especially restricted to phone...

265 I have Broadwing hawks here during sunmmer, they are large. They seem to be gone after fall but return in spring. Some years ago the nesting pair was in my yard but the pine tree they preferred is dieing so they moved to neighboring yard.

But phone,, data plan...

Pretty sure I've seen bits of referrals to that interview though.

Have also seen that Pop has been told to stay "in the light" for his own safety.

We'll see.

271 >>Kinda makes the crazy New World Order conspiracy theorists not look so crazy.

I think the fault line for much of this is the realignment Trump is making in the middle east. Obama and much of the rest of the world supported or at least didn't fight against making Iran the center of power. You can see it in almost everything he did.

Trump has moved it to the Saudis. The EU and Russia was very upset that Trump tore up the Iran deal which was so idiotic you have to wonder why anyone ever supported it (hint: money) and have been pushing back.

In any case this was bigger than just helping Hillary win. She was a part of it but there are bigger things at play.

With so much that has been revealed thus far, a grand conspiracy theory is not all that far-fetched an idea. However, I don't follow Q. He/they are much too coy and cute-by-half. If the situation is as dire as many believe, why tease people with riddles and penumbras? And there is a recent expose written by one of its founders who explains that it was just a joke at first, but now it's all about the Benjamins.

Just my take.

278 The riddles and such bother me too Irish.
Plus a couple of recent drops.

Hard to deny a lot of the proofs even though a number of em are cryptic enough to be explained away.

And the videos of Trump doing the "Air Q" at rallies.

Like I said, not totally sold,,, but cautiously optomistic.
We'll see.
