Funniest thing I've seen at Thanksgiving regarding food is people wondering what the Cranberry Sauce is. Bcz it is made from scratch...and they are used to the "real" kind that comes from a can. Cracks me up every time. Usually it's kids, but not always. I only wish it happened more often.

My grandfather was deeply affected by his WWI service. I never knew him or his stories, but he was in a machine gun unit of the 3rd Infantry Division on the Marne in 1918. Not a fun place to be.
I met his 2nd and fifth wife (5 marriages, 3 different women) and she said he was violent but a bit charming.

Prayers for you. That sounds like my wife 3-4 years ago. Turned out it was congenital heart failure. On the bright side, after her last hospital visit she has improved remarkably. Gets around the house well, can cook again, even clean a lot. Only the stairs and outdoors are problems.

The confusion about yam and sweet potatoes is really a marketing thing..
What you may call a yam is really a variety of sweet potato.. a softer variety.
The original sweet potato is harder. When they developed a softer strain, they needed to differentiate it from the regular sweet potato, so they stuck the yam name on it.

I had a pine tree near the house, a couple hundred feet from the street, decorated with lights. It seemed ridiculous to wrap it and unwrap it every year. I got shamed into taking them down every spring. Didn't want to. Eventually the tree got too tall to decorate anymore.
See I coulda just left the lights on it as it grew taller and it would have taken the lights higher, no problem.

Last year Lowes had some special deal on Christmas trees day before Thanksgiving. Some $10 rebate iirc. So got a seven and a half foot tree for $15 bucks after rebate.
Probably watch for the same sale. Or Produce Junction which is pricier but still reasonable.

Also, fun to experiment with different fruits and berries.
The ones I made with dried cherries, blueberries, raspberries, and golden raisins were particularly yummy.

I like using Americanism more than nationalism, since we are unique in having a bill or rights that secures (in theory) individual liberty. That is different than most countries ... where conformity to the statist ideology is more readily enforced.
The whole "my country right or wrong" is less ambiguous here, since "we" patriots fights for that liberty, not for the DeepState nor the unconstitutional degradation of the constitution.
In theory the left is right to "resist" ... except they are resisting the foundation of the country, resisting the will of the vast majority. But if Hillary had gotten her commie majority SCOTUS, resistance to national subversion would have been "patriotic" (allegiance to the individual liberty republic under God, not to the commie march through the institutions)
Which is why "we are a nation of laws" is not the greatest slogan, imo. That only works if we keep our laws under the constitution. So "constitutional republic" might be better.

Just returned from a week out of town for work. Last weekend, I ran the tractor to mulch leaves. About a third of them had dropped. While I was gone, pretty much all the rest dropped.
I got home last night. The leaves I planned on mulching today are covered in snow.

Same here. To start with it stayed hot as fuck here mostly through September and until October 11. The leaves didn't start changing until after that with the peak being maybe on Halloween, at least two weeks later than usual. Then it turned cold and windy with yesterday not getting out of the twenties and most of the trees are bare.

1. Transference of their sins and maltreatment of blacks to the GOP and conservatives generally and have used the welfare state, affirmative action and all of it's manifestations to enforce loyalty to the party and have successfully framed any attempts to roll it back as racist and direct attacks them.

The worst part is I see more people accusing the Reps of cheating, against all evidence to the contrary. There is no cure for this country. I'm only sad that I'm young enough to have to live through many more years of watching this country burn. Votes don't matter anymore and no one on the right is willing to fight. We've fractured terribly and I don't see how we can recover as a nation. The hatred I see coming from mostly one side is so damaging. There's no escape.

I don't know if Ward would have fought harder, but I've been voting for her in the primaries since she's been running, because I thought she had the spine to actually work for the state's citizens. I've pretty much given up on this state. No one here is wiling to do anything, except keep voting in rinos and socialists. The teachers union runs this state. Our taxes just keep getting higher, bonds keep getting approved, all "for the children." Property taxes are ridiculous (and yet it's not enough to feed the gaping maw of public education administration). The annual vehicle registration taxes are out of control. No one cares. We're being bled dry and it's normal. Every time we get a candidate who might actually work at change it goes two ways: they can't get past the primary or if they manage that miracle, run, and actually get elected, they turn into squishy squishes.Fine. Let Sinema and the locals cheat the seats. This state will get what's coming and no one will care, not the locals and not the nation. We're just a write-off, anyway.

Hello Soulpile... I know it sucks watching this happen but do not give up or lose hope. Good changes can come for you but it will take hard work. Organize with like minded conservatives and start the war by taking back your party. You will not be able to begin to change the statewide situation until the GOP isn't as traitorous as the Dems.

Do you remember the NY Times going gaga over how much data (down to the block and paired with other sources) Obama's campaign had on Dem voters? It was supposedly so they knew who they could motivate to vote. Well if only 50% vote, isn't it easer to fill out ballots for those "lazy supporters" and then "find" them if necessary? Untraceable. Making calls to "perfect" votes (as in AZ) let's the voter know how (powers that be) they voted..
Just need 3-6% of these ballots to be "found" to turn any election.
Ink on the finger of voters the day of the election.. No other votes should count. Everything else can be faked defeated..
