Did a Dirty Trick Just Cost Jon Tester the Senate Race in Montana?
Democrats -- one presumes -- sent out a false-flag mailer encouraging voters to vote for the libertarian in the race, billing him as the "true conservative" choice.
Well, the Libertarian candidate himself realized he was being used dishonestly as a catspaw for Tester. So he's quit the race and endorsed the Republican, Matt Rosendale. The libertarian candidate had been polling at 4% or so; coincidentally enough, 4% is about Jon Tester's lead over Rosendale. So this could turn out to be a dirty trick that sinks the dirty trickster. I have no feeling about things in MT, but I do think there is/will be a GOP turnout that shocks a lot of the conventional analysts and polls. It is likely to show up in MT as well, but we'll see.

when we were kids it wasn't this big a deal. You decorated your house

Like there's one of the Batman movies, I think it's the dumb one set in Chicago, where there's a power source that will go unstable and blow up in about 24 hours if you do the wrong thing to it.
So, someone does the wrong thing to it and all of a sudden it has a timer on it counting down exactly 24 hours.
Like, why did they put a timer on it to show the exact one thing that was never supposed to happen? And why is it exact, if the the stupid thing was supposed to go unstable?
Little things like that can ruin the willing suspension of disbelief.

Rev and I went out to Phoenix to visit my mom. While we were there, we took a side-trip to Sedona, land of the crystal-gazing hippies.
We went on this tour of vortexes. I told the tour guide, I'm from Wisconsin. I don't know a vortex from a vienna sausage. He said voretexes were centers of concentrated spiritual energy, like Stonehenge.
So, koo-koo occultism, then.
We went up into the mountains and we took several pictures all around the vortex site. Later that night, when we looked at our pictures, I had two photos that showed a transparent white film-y thing, sort of rectangular, with facial features.
I thought that was odd, as we didn't see anything like that at the vortex itself. So I figured it was some kind of artifact on my camera. But when we looked at Rev's pictures, it was there too. Just at that one place on the trail.

So, I had a meeting with the Postmaster at the PO yesterday. I get in line in the customer service area to let the clerk know and this guy walks in front of me into the line. And then he starts to put his mailing together just like the sign says not to.
So, I step around him and stand in front of him which he found at least somewhat upsetting. He starts saying things like the "Making copies" guy used to say on SNL but I don't respond and it's nothing nasty.
So, I get to the clerk and let her know and as I turn toward the Postmaster's office the line guy is leaving. He looks at me over his shoulder and says, sarcastically I guess, "Enjoy your day."
So, I look over my Bronx-reared shoulder at him and say, "Enjoy your second place.".

I had something happen along those lines once. I went to take pictures at the College Street Bridge in Austin at dusk, it's famous because it has a huge colony of Mexican Freetail Bats that come out in a cloud as the sun goes down, every night. So it was getting almost too dark to see anything, and I just stuck my digital camera up in the air and took as many pictures as I could quickly, with a flash. It worked amazingly well, I got a lot of good shots of bats in flight, some quite close. (that is a pretty large species of bat, btw)
But what was odd was, you know how paranormal types always go on about "orbs"? Well, that bridge is an old place, with lots of history, and in the background of almost all of my photos were dozens of these "orbs", of different sizes. You could even track them from one photo to the next, since I was taking them rapidly in sequence. I always thought they were probably just water drops on the lens - but there's one sequence where you can see one go behind a tree branch and come out the other side.
Of course at the time I saw nothing myself - I was just pointing the camera at the dark, and taking as many shots as I could.

She was with her youngest son at the playground. The playground was situated on a hilltop and from there you could look down on the freeway.

Several years I worked on a renovation for a building that sure seemed haunted. It got to the point that nobody, and I mean nobody, would go in there alone. One hot summer day, mid 80's which is hot for around here and inside you were physically cold. The fact that it was partially collapsing didn't help. Neither did the secret subterranean room we found filled with Indiana Jones type spider webs.

There were the average sized Sugar Daddys, next to the Hershey's and Snickers, and then there were the GIANT Sugar Daddies, on a big wooden stick, weighing maybe a pound.
Got those for Christmas as a kid for a few years, and it took weeks to eat one. I would never consider touching a SD these days, too much dental work that would go down in flames.

I was on a solo motorcycle trip going through the state, and thought I would overnight in Butte, until I took a look at it. Butte appeared as rough now as the Pennsylvania steel mill town where I was born, when I was born in it, and that was a long time ago.
Nasty.
So I rode on further, up to Anaconda. Shit, it was just as rough, another open-pit copper mining town. Thence up to Deer Lodge, wherein sits the museum of Montana Prison History, a building that would have made Charles Dickens cringe. I stayed outside Deer Lodge.
It may have mountains, elk, and rainbow trout in the Yellowstone river, but it's not a bastion of conservative thought.

I really think that given that they broke through Mexico's defenses, Mexico at least owes it to us to allow us to advance across their borders a few miles. And if they couldn't stop a few thousand migrants, it's difficult to see how they could stop us.
A buffer zone would be ideal so that the army could deal with them using non lethal means.
I really think they are not like Gazans. The Gazans *want* to die and they are willing to sacrifice themselves and their children to create bad publicity.
These assholes OTOH have been told we are pushovers. Once they see that we are not, they'll realize this isn't what they signed up for when they were recruited, and they will simply turn around.

A foreign tourist is in our jurisdiction but not subject. He does not have to file federal income taxes or register for Selective Service for example. If his country requests his extradition, we honor it because he subject to their jurisdiction.
Liberals argue everyday that the militia clause basically negates the Second Amd.. That however has been adjudicated in Heller. The Subject to the Jurisdiction-clause has not been adjudicated. The Court ruled a century ago that children of legal residents were Americans. They have never ruled on children of illegal residents.
President Trump is just re-affirming the original meaning. Even if it was abandoned 40 years ago, it is still in the Constitution.
