Glorious. I've been saying since the 90s that the Clintons were terrible liars - notwithstanding all the "they're good liars" crap one heard/hears about them. Goes along with their general incompetence and mediocrity. Clinton was one of the worst presidents ever, in all respects. Astonishing how much praise he gets, even for his "political skills" (Mr. 42%), which are as invisible as his substantive heft. Clinton's reputation is one of the first concrete indicators of the dumbing down of the country that has continued. Posted by: rhomboid at October 12, 2018 07:26 PM (QDnY+) 119

For those who have never had a security clearance.
There are documents you sign to have one, that give the Government broad powers to ensure that the material you know about, or have in your possession, is not compromised. You essentially voluntarily give up some Rights, as it pertains TO said clearance. Just as in the Military, you give up some rights by joining... Is it the constant stirring with a whisk? For a basic white sauce (or any gravy really). Melt the butter, then remove from heat and add the flour. Don't add the flour while it's on the heat. Return to heat then begin adding more milk constantly stirring. The trick is adding the flour when it's off the heat. Works every time. Posted by: Jewells45 at October 12, 2018 07:43 PM (dUJdY) 220

Clinton was one of the worst presidents ever, in all respects. Astonishing how much praise he gets, even for his "political skills" (Mr. 42%), which are as invisible as his substantive heft. Posted by: rhomboid at October 12, 2018 07:26 PM (QDnY+) As an example of Bubba's political genius, in '92 he campaigned largely as a moderate Donk, and was elected with a lot of crossover votes. And his first major act in office is..... Homos in the military. Now, set aside any value judgement on the issue itself. I say it was politically STUPID to spend a huge amount of political capital to stomp all over the place trying to implement a policy that was guaranteed to massively piss off the military, your opposition, and a not insignificant number of your own supporters. The military call that "slamming the wall", or attacking the enemy where he is strongest. It has an extremely low percentage for success. And in fact, he had to back off and compromise with Don't Ask Don't Tell, which pissed off EVERYONE. That's not a political genius. That's a fucking idiot. ITC, yep that was a beauty. Followed by Hillary Care, a substantive (of course) and political debacle of historic proportions*. Recall the press conference where the inept, dumb Clinton was saying - incredibly - "the president is still relevant" in governance. Amazing.
My favorite example of how superficial, clumsy, shameless, pander-based "political skill" defined Clinton - the focus groups and surveys conducted one summer *to see where the first family should go on vacation*. I'm not making that up. * of course the country still largely rejected the idiocy of "Obama-care" when it was rammed down our throats, but the institutional rot was striking: recall the Harry and Louise commercials in '93, and the insurance giants ripping Hillarycare to shreds on the Hill? Yeah, me too. In 2009? Completely irresponsible, stupid, bought-off, good little cogs in the fascist machine. A key element of Gleichschaltung is the collapse of sense, responsibility, or anything resembling an American mindset in corporate boards and executives. A sign The Holy Spigot is moving amongst us.
Posted by: Brave Sir Robin----- Yes, quite. I feel that PDT has opened his Book of Armaments to Chapter 4, Verses 16 to 20, and is proceeding so: Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch saying, "Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ... Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it. My Father started climbing poles for AT&T After the Korean War... retired from them as the Senior Engineer for Central Calif (including the Sierra Nevada).
All he had was a GED, and brains. You can't do that now... companies won't pay to educate you... because they think you will just move on. Posted by: Don Quixote My aunt did that. Started as a "one ringy dingy" in the early 50's. Took every class AT&T ever offered. Retired as a high level VP. Just High school. Posted by: rickb223 at October 12, 2018 08:10 PM (RRfF8) 375

Yeah but prezzys like to do a "thank you to the base" thing early on. That was Clinton's. Trump's was the muzzle ban, which also wasn't the best thing to do politically. Posted by: Lurking Lurker at October 12, 2018 07:57 PM (hgUZZ) Yup, that's to be expected. But my point was that it was obviously going to be a HUGE battle, and would suck up most of his political capital at the very beginning of his term. Politically speaking, the timing was awful. And worse is that he backed down in the end and accepted a compromise that pissed off the very base that he was trying to appease. I really think that if he'd have tread softer at the beginning, husbanding his political capital until it would be most effective, he'd have achieved a lot more of his agenda. In retrospect, it's actually a good thing that he fucked up right out of the gate. Posted by: IllTemperedCur at October 12, 2018 08:15 PM (eXA4G) 397

Every fucking time. I shank every damn ball. When I close my eyes - I hit it well. Until I fuck up the first one. Then I fuck them all up. So I'll change everything - go open or closed, go ten-finger (which I like alot) - and hit twenty or so great. Until I miss one - then I miss them all. I'm the Reverse Mo Norman. Works both ways ... I never worked anywhere, from my first gig in the mid-90s on ... that didn't make it extremely clear that you were being judged day by day - and they were always looking for better options. Posted by: ScoggDog at October 12, 2018 08:07 PM (fiGNd) My early employment history was spotty, but I took a job with a small business in 1990 and I'm still there today. If you get along with your co-workers, there is nothing better. The pay and benefits might not be as good as in a big corporation, but there are no office politics or HR departments to deal with. It helps if you can make yourself indispensable to the company. Small businesses used to be the backbone of American capitalism. Every Weekend - every Holiday - 24/7 On-Call - if anything ever burped in those damn plants - I was the first guy they called. Because I did the shit they didn't understand. Instrumentation. Programming. Servo-Control. They either demanded me because they were running - or demanded me because they weren't running and there was always something I could improve so that they could run better on Monday. Always on Salary. Being the Automation Guy in an American Manufacturing Plant is about the worst fucking job in the world - by any measure. I like Freelance better. In the business world, when you get fired or even hand in your resignation, your passwords, building access, company credit cards, and so on are revoked IMMEDIATELY, even if the departure is amicable. Hey - I'm glad you found a good honey-hole. Something you're happy with. I really am. But my experience - and the experience of most of the talented guys I've ever known - is that when it comes to doing work for American Manufacturers ... ... first of all, the attitude of Management is always that of a charity case. They NEED Service XYZ - and that shit must happen NOW !!! Right The Fuck Now. Then - when it comes to Pay Up Time ... they've always got Issues. Complaints. Constructive Feedback ... that always involves Extra Work without Extra Pay. And that shit goes for Manufacturers Large and Small. It's a Mentality. It's a Culture. 1/4 cup flour & 1/4 cup butter sounds like a lot for 2 cups milk. I usually use about 2 fat tablespoons of each. I like using half&half for extra flavor. Canned or evaporated cut with water in dire emergency, whole milk for everyday operations.

I use whipping cream for making gravy and cut it a bit with water. I don't usually have whole milk on hand. It doesn't take a lot of flour and you do want to cook the flour a bit with the fat before you add milk.

Instapundit has a story on vertical farming. Commie sister from Portland is all in on this. Lots of pretty imaginary pictures of a lush jungle growing out of open floor plan skyscrapers. I suspect the reality will be a 20 story pot greenhouse that takes more energy than a heavy manufacturing facility.

Sundance over at CTH hit this tough yesterday on these marxist serpents and what the likely reason is. All over it. All documented including links. Scroll down to "Clinton's Researchers" (dated yesterday 10/12). Far more important is the interview with Jim Jordan and article on what happens if the 'rat takes the House. Grand jury should have been convened 10 mos. ago with indictments already being handed up. This truly ominous stuff. "Representative Jim Jordan Discusses Strategy to Run Out the Clock" today 10/13). On the way to SHTF if it happens. Either way this won't end well and most of YOU are not prepared.
