I recall harshly the sense of dread I felt in the run-up to November 2016. I knew Felonious was going to win and then get re-elected and that between that and the previous 8-years of the milk-chocolate messiah the country would never recover until it blew-up into a hot civil war.
That will still happen, but I am ultimately grateful for the 4-year (hopefully 8-year) reprieve of that sentence PDJT has provided.

Hubby and I have very specific legal documents to give to any hospital. We will not be organ donors and we reject any and all DNR orders. All decisions will be be made by specifically named family members.
They aren't gonna say "well she had a heart attack on the table, but she had a DNR so we didn't zap her" when I would've lived another 10 years if they did give me the zap.

Hillary Clinton is a preposterously evil woman who would absolutely finish what Obama started. I must admit, despite his arrogance he possessed a thin veneer of judgement. You have me there. Where are you measuring the bias voltage? Grid to cathode? It's only a 10% difference.
Seems to me if you were looking to balance tubes, you would want to plot plate current vs grid voltage for all your stock, and pair the tubes with the most closely-matched curves.

Definite party difference. W. did Christmas at Camp David, which is easy to secure, so most of the agents could be at home with their families.
For Christmas, Obama dragged them all to Hawaii for a couple of weeks, which sounds nice, except that they got to spend Christmas on duty away from their families.
Trump doesn't go as far as staying at Camp David for Christmas, but by all accounts, he is very friendly towards all his staff, including the guards. Trump did learn a few things from running businesses for decades.

Still doesn't tell me what the bias taps connect to, internally. I think, that for normal Class A operation, you want enough negative grid bias on your output tubes that the signal from the driver stage never drives the grids positive. We might be talking -40 volts here, and that is usually done by putting a resistor between the cathode and ground, but I have heard of using regulated "C" bias supplies.

I'm somewhat familiar with Idaho politics, and in a sparsely populated state, being well known, personable, and making sure that you are showing up to meet people at county fairs and whatnot, count for a lot.

Once I got past the B+ switching network, it seems to be a pretty typical push-pull amp, with an "ultralinear" output transformer with taps for the screen grids. And about -36 volts fixed bias on the #1 grids, compared to the -40 volts I pulled out of my ass. I still don't see where garrett is measuring the .27 volt bias figure.

It is a clone of a Marantz 8B with the option of running either EL34 or KT88 tubes (via switchable modes).
I opted to run all the output tubes at the same value for a while.
Then I figure I can re-Bias and see if values have changed at all...
If not. I can start labeling and swapping?

Sounds cool, KT88 is definitely the way to fly if its a stereo amp. Well if its 2 trannys then you are probably dealing with the winding variation of each tranny and/or value drift on the parts on the board. You "could" change the value of the bias input resistor on the one channel which would give the adjustment pot more range, or basically change it's range, but thats a bit intricate. I had to do that few times with guitar amps. The other thing is just set the tubes to the value you can get both pairs at and at least have balance between the 2 sides. If it was a single tranny guitar amp where you're using 4 tubes with a 2 push/ 2 pull thing a variation would be a tad sucky to deal with, but with 2 independent trannys you just deal with each side as it's own thing. Just balance the pairs and be done with it. The only alternative is start changing bias resistors.

These are the taps you are testing/ reading to adjust the Bias to the Specs given.
What they are tapping / giving you, re. screen etc. I don't know off the top of my head. I am sure it is in the Manual. but that shouldn't matter.

Well if you want to get all scientific for future reference, there are better ways to adjust bias. If that amp has a switch that allows you to go from EL34 to KT88 there is a good chance that it might be biased a bit on the cold side anyway. I go through that with the mesa rectifier amps that can switch from EL34 to 6L6. The problem is you would need to measure actual plate voltage, and find the center tap of each transformer to measure actual current. A KT88 has a max dissipation of 42 watts. "Usually" you bias to 70% dissipation to be safe, so 42 X .70 is 29.4. Without knowing the plate voltage those numbers are pretty useless, but if you knew the plate voltage, and did the math, and can measure current off the center tap you could bias the sucker nuts on. The problem with using the center tap is you are measuring serious current, not voltage, and its pretty dangerous if you aren't used to doing it. I blew up a fluke meter because when I pulled the probe back I whacked the chassis and grounded it while the other probe was on the center tap. That is the method kenny fischer from trainwreck amps used to preach, and it really does work like a charm, its amazing accurate. In the end you are really chasing the tone of the amp, so if you find a sweet spot in the range you can get with the adjustments you do actually have then you are good to go.

I have to do some digging. There was a company in germany that was selling some really nice trannys cheap. I helped a friend build a Marshall 50 watt clone amp, and the thing sounded killer with those trannys. I have to ask him the name again, I can't remember. I think he got a power tranny, an output tranny, and a choke tranny for a little over $200. It was a great deal.

Cannibal Bob, milk sometimes helps due to the minerals in it. Also...and everyone thinks I'm nuts when I say this...a bar of soap thrown between the sheets will stop nighttime leg cramps. But no soap, to coin a phrase.Tonic water contains quinine and it usually takes care of the cramps but there wasn't enough left in the bottle, I guess.Alcohol in any quantity is out, per my stomach.So has anyone heard from Vic?

creeper's Irish Cream
2 cups Irish whisky
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup whipping cream
15 chocolate chips, melted
1 teaspoon instant coffee
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Throw it all in a blender and blend for 60 seconds. Transfer to a bottle and refrigerate.
Shake it occasionally as it chills to keep it mixed.
All quantities except milk and cream are negotiable, depending on your own taste. The 2 cups of whisky is a little stiff but not too strong when you add it to coffee.

My recollection is different. Justice Thomas refused to bow his head to the Democrat plantation owners in the Senate, yes, and GHWB expressed his "total confidence" but I always thought at the time that confidence extended only as far as Thomas himself could take it. In other words, if Thomas couldn't take the pressure on his own, he couldn't look for help from the White House. I never thought for a moment the WH was lifting a finger to fight for Thomas' confirmation.
Maybe its always that way, and maybe you can argue Trump did only as much for Kavanaugh, but I don't think GHWB is a good example of a guy who fought for his nominee.

Chief Justice Roberts has referred the BS 'ethics complaints' against Kavanaugh to the 10th District appeals court judges rather than the DC court because Garland stepped aside. Before we start attacking Roberts on this issue he didn't have much choice on this unless he wanted pull a Holder and simply ignore the law.

Unless it's an icy snow that starts right during morning commute, and the roads havent been pre-treated, nothing short of a foot or so will get school cancelled usually. It goes district by district of course, I'm sure some towns are more cautious than others.

See, this is what I don't get. With tornados, earthquakes, tsunamis, wildfires... there's little or no warning.
With hurricanes, you can see the fucker coming on satellite and radar for a friggin' week.
There's no excuse for ANYONE to get caught by a hurricane, as far as I can tell.
I'd be good with just scrapping the whole rescue thing and going in to clean up the damage and collect the bodies later. You choose to stay, it's on you.
Maybe have buses or something to get people out of the area before it strikes.

When a fire alarm goes off at work, people just kind of sit there thinking it's a drill and ho hum no big deal.
When we have a media endlessly blaring about how a hurricane is The Next Big Disaster And We All Will Die, I figure quite a few people just tune it all out.

Yeah my parents live in Florida, and they've never evacuated. They're on a barrier island, but enough above sea level that they've never seen flooding. And their house is built out of concrete, with hurricane shutters for all of the windows, which is kind of ugly, but fairly wind proof.
The biggest hassle is getting back to their house after a hurricane, sometimes it's days before the roads are re-opened. So they'd rather ride it out.
Plus my dad said it's really cool to watch the storms.

The Floridians I know are all amateur meteorologists, ha. "Well, I've been tracking this storm since it formed, I don't think it's going to make landfall above a Cat 1" while the media is screaming about Cat 5 that's going to destroy the state.
I don't know, like I said -- we don't have many hurricanes where I live.

President Dudley was raised in Arlington, so he's only nominally a Virginian, and went to Williams College. He did his graduate work in Philosophy at Northwestern. He taught for his entire career at Williams, specializing in Hegel and Kant.
No ties to WL, or even Virginia. No special relationship to the history of the place. Probably views the individuals Washington and Lee through the modern lens as slaveholders and militaristic heros. Oh well, the Trustees must have wanted change when they hired him last year, and now they have it.
