The Morning Rant: J.V. Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

This is the result of President Trump's policy of decreasing regulation and freeing the naturally industrious and entrepreneurial spirit of America. Obama and his minions were opposed to any relaxation of government control, and we got eight years of malaise for their troubles.

Just get the hell out of the way and Americans can fix anything...even the marxist economic policy of a two-term president. What is frustrating is the categorical refusal of the MBM to recognize that Obama's economic policies were hopelessly flawed. Any rational analysis of economic trends will show an uptick in almost every measure that corresponds with the Trump economy. The good thing is that the American people aren't that dumb. They see the correlation and they like it!

Latest forecast: 4.2 percent -- October 10, 2018

The GDPNow model estimate for real GDP growth (seasonally adjusted annual rate) in the third quarter of 2018 is 4.2 percent on October 10, up from 4.1 percent on October 5. After this morning’s wholesale trade report from the U.S. Census Bureau and this morning's Producer Price Index release from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the nowcast of the contribution of inventory investment to third-quarter real GDP growth increased from 2.09 percentage points to 2.20 percentage points.
This is an interesting snapshot of the current economy. I am unsure how accurate it is, but at least it is consistent. I wonder whether the ramp-up to Christmas is causing the increase in inventory investment? It makes sense, and might even be true!

Says after they acted in emergency fashion in 2008, they should have pulled back (2010) but they kept the QE policy and ZIRP and became market pushers (saving Obama as Tea Party grew).
Even in 2016 when they announced four coming rate hikes, markets sold off 11% so they cancelled all those hikes. (still didn't save Hillary)

I summarized it some in the last thread, this is the You-Tube link.(Dow down 338 now, could get a 2-3 week relief rally, which could set up a real crash, hopefully not before the election, that is my opinion, not from the link)

In addition to skill, it requires the willingness to say things that people do not say in public --- and then keep saying it instead of backing down, apologizing. Short of Breitbart (RIP) there was no one else willing to do this.

I'm not sure I entirely agree.

If Trump has one unique quality that makes him appealing, it's that he is in tune with everyday people, which seems almost Twilight Zone-ish to say that a multi billionaire from NYC is in touch with the common man. He gets blasted by opponents for not being a polished speaker, for being crass, for not being a statesman, but honestly, most people aren't that way either. In fact, almost no one is.

Now, if that is a feature of Trump, then it's no skill. But if he works at listening to everyday people, reading blogs, following social media, etc to stay in touch, then it absolutely is a skill.

Strom's reputation an exploits were the stuff of legend. A an old Strom joke goes soemthing like this. There were several versions of it, and any state politician could be the butt of it, but here's my favorite version.

The governor is having some Bod Dole ED problems, but that little blue pill wasn't invented yet. He thinks of Strom, at his age how does he keep it up. Maybe he'll know something. So he goes to see Strom and asks him.

Strom says, "Well, I'll tell ya' what I do, son." "Right before I have at it, I pull it out and whack it on the bed post. That gets it limbered up and gets the blood a-flowin'."

The governor says well hell. Late that evening, he gets to thinking, well, what the hell, couldn't hurt. So he goes back home to the governor's mansion. Mrs. Governor is already in bed, and he slips into the darkened bedroom.

He pulls out Mr. Happy and starts whacking it on the bed post at the foot of the bed. "Thump, thump, thump!". This rouses Mrs. Governor up, and she says,

"Strom! Get the hell out of here! My husband will be home any minute now!"

Which succeeded so much that if it weren't for Anna Puma I wouldn't even know that a Soyuz just blew up and almost killed one of our guys.

So, no, not the shuttle, but we should have a way of getting to space without the Russkies.

We lived in Saudi for a couple of years, and can agree with your assessment. The Khashoggis are a rival family to the Al Sauds, so although it's horrific, it's not entirely surprising. It also seems there must have been something very personal that happened with the missing Khashoggi and the family, because the gruesome actions that were mentioned are done when a female member of the family has been dishonored. There is a lot that is not being discussed, but I think the approach by the administration is appropriate at this point, until we know further details.

A couple weeks ago saw something entertaining, was looking at a grassy open area with trees around it, about 4 crows picking at stuff in the grass. Suddenly a hawk swooped down and went after one of the crows. The crow took off squawking, the other 3 started chasing the hawk. Nobody ever caught anybody, but it was fun to watch them go round and round. Usually 4 crows will get together and chase off a hawk, but I think this hawk got pissed off about all that and decided to show them what was what.

He destroyed that neighborhood by not maintaining his properties and renting them out to dregs. It drove all of the residents that had spent their wholes there out.
The north part got bought up by developers, was replatted and is now a very rich niche of three story condos. The rest is still pretty much crap.

Conservatives often try and call out leftists on hypocrisy. It never works...because the left always redefines terms to NOT include what they are doing.

Discriminate against someone because they are white? Not racial discrimination because the powerless can't discriminate...hahaha sucker!

From Pee-Pull --

Friends and family of a beloved Medieval knight re-enactor have been left "stunned" after the Virginia man accidentally impaled himself with his lance during a re-enactment event over the weekend.

Peter Barclay, 53, was competing in an equestrian game in front of a crowd in Williamstown, Kentucky Saturday when he was fatally injured.

Participating in events under the knight name of Master Terafan Greydragon, Peter went to spear a paper plate while on horseback when something went wrong and his lance impaled him under his sternum, WLWT confirms.

Peter, a military veteran, was airlifted to a hospital but died en route.

True story: sometime in the mid to late 80's one of my kids was going to write a paper for class. He was in about the 5th grade. I got him in touch with an engineer from AT&T to introduce my kid to fiber optics.

Long story short the guy basically told us they had the technology to bring TV, phone, fire and burglar alarm connection to any residence but the problem was the public perception of invasion of privacy. They were going to attempt an introduction that to two different medium size cities.

And now we pay hundreds of $/month for that same invasion of privacy.

The transition to wedded bliss requires that old habits (and undergarments) be cast off (and burned for health reasons).

The perfect ending to any rehearsal dinner.

Bonus points if you can detect if the bride recognizes the shorts.

Good. If there's one thing that needs more restrictions it's how citizens can use the product they paid for.

I just recently learned that playing blu-rays on your computer will automatically update something internally in the drive to prevent users from converting the movie to a different format (think iPad on a long flight), and it updates the drive without your knowledge or any way for the person who owns the drive to prevent it from happening. Exactly like a virus.

The industry has been doing it since 2012 or so, too.

______________

There's no particular reason to think that Kavanaugh, who respects the doctrine of stare decisis, would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade.

But even if by some unlikely chance he did, that doesn't mean that abortion would suddenly become illegal in the U.S. Roe created, out of thin air (emanations and penumbras) a federal constitutional right to abortion that had not previously existed. If Roe was overturned and that right disappeared tomorrow, the states would still have the right to regulate abortion as they chose, just like they had been doing before Roe.

Since abortion is much more widely accepted now that it was in the '70's, most states likely would continue to allow it in certain circumstances, although there would be restrictions that would vary from state to state. Some loony left states (CA, NY, etc.), would likely make it legal for any reason up to the 9th month, if not beyond, and would force their taxpayers to fully fund it.

So instead of needing "coat hangers" if Roe were to be overturned, the most any woman might need (and very few of them) would be a short ride to a neighboring state with more liberal abortion laws.

But apparently being hysterical and screaming about coat hangers and Nazis is more fun than the boring facts.

436 Interesting bit about how Trump matches crazy for crazy, then sneaks in a common sense uppercut...

Past GOP Poti and Establishment types, in response to getting repeatedly and publicly punched in the face by the Dems and media for decades, would typically only attempt the common sense part without ever defending themselves or fighting back to deter future attacks.

Along comes Trump, well outside the GOPe, who counter-punches for a living, and he's assembled enough common sense around him to both protect and advance, i.e. shield AND sword.

This of course confuses GOP-E's long accustomed to assuming the fetal position if the lib media so much as looks at them.

That tattoo "artist" should be ashamed. That's usually reserved for older folks with full sleeves and a life already dedicated to the "look."

For him to take his $40 and condemn her to that life is shameful.

I think there are some laser treatments that can eventually remove a tattoo, given enough time and money.

449 Here is the fundamental problem with the shuttle: The engineering rule of thumb is that you design parts to withstand twice the maximum stress you expect them to receive. That puts failure so far out on end of the bell shaped curve that a failure is highly unlikely. You can't design a shuttle with a 2:1 safety margin because it would be too heavy to fly. As a result the shuttle design had a 1.4:1 design margin. That lowered design margin, times the number of parts in the design, gives a mission success ratio of 96%. In other words they expected 4 out of every 100 shuttle missions to fail catastrophically. That there were only two catastrophic failures means we had short term good luck in the program.

The thing is you can't rehabilitate someone who doesn't want to be rehabilitated. Someone who commits a serious crime and goes to prison for a long time gets out older and slower and just as angry as when he went in.

Deterrence doesn't work either; it just keeps the criminal off the street longer.

We've tried rehabilitation and the convicts learn how to game the system. Reduced sentences just let the criminal out sooner.

It doesn't help that the progressive Socialist Democrats are telling minorities that they are being exploited by the white patriarchy and are justified in their anger at their mistreatment.

517 I hate to break it to you, but you shouldn't be watching any theatrical product and expecting to see even a speck of historical accuracy!

Its a matter of degree. I can put up with Braveheart showing kilts and incorrect swords and face painting. But they went above and beyond the call in Hell on Wheels in an effort to deconstruct the old west and portray the entire process as horrible and evil. My tolerance level for shows where every single character is loathsome and scummy in some way is pretty low. At least int he Sopranos, Tony tried to be a good man, and raise his kids right.

Its a trend right now in TV shows: celebrate and wallow in misery and evil, like Breaking Bad. Bleak, hopeless, miserable, awful, treacherous, sinful scumbags doing terrible things.

We've fiddled with prison reform since the beginning and nothing much seems to help. Sure, this might be Trump's opening bid in a long negotiation that might even do some good but Tump could do more good for more people with education reform and economic reform, and reducing the democrats to a perpetual minor political party.

The only 'Friends' episode worth watching was the one where Phoebe answered the door thinking it was the pizza guy and it turned out to be the Manson Family.

521 According to Michelle Obama and her new Global Girls Alliance, the future is female...and non-white

=====
According to Donald Trump and his new Global Boys Alliance, the future is male...and white

Imagine the SHIT STORM if this was said. I think white males are getting pretty pissed at the anti-white male thing and when white men get pissed continents burn.

I wouldn't see anything objectionable about such a statement. We've given all the other possibilities more than a fair chance, and it always turns out to be a shitshow. Go back to tried and true.

522 A Ohio University student was arrested for sending threatening notes to herself. She claimed that because she is of the LGBT community, haters were sending her threats.

Except they weren't.

She is the sweet, delicate flower that you would imagine her to be.

Let's look at track records, shall we? Or are track records racist/sexist?
