I understand the cynicism about the GOP, but I think you are right. If they were going to cave, they would have done so long before this. I think they have picked this hill to die on because they know there is no other way. Anything else is complete capitulation to the left.

It's a good hill. Kavanaugh is innocent, and this is a painfully obvious hit job. No matter how well coached and motivated this Ford person is, I think most average people realize this. She can fake-cry on the stand all she wants but the facts are there for all to see.
They've had just as much time to plan a defense around this as the dems have to coach and feed Ford, while they were stalling for that purpose.
Kavanaugh nows he is innocent, he is a fighter and he will testify with passion to that fact, and HIS passion is genuine, not scripted - and that will tell.
