The Morning Rant: J.V. Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

Th cognitive deficit that Trump creates in the Left is unbelievable. If someone who is incapable of giving consent needs surgery, what should society do? Let them languish in pain or discomfort or at heightened risk of health issues?

The fact is, all 50 states allow others to give consent, and the Left is trotting out their pressure group of the day, the disabled, to tug on our heart-strings and mobilize the soccer moms to hate Trump and Kavanaugh. It's insane. It is sick. It is beneath contempt, but they do it with a smile on their faces and a skip in their steps, because eggs...omelets...some destruction required.

I have legal authority to make health-care decisions for my mother. Would these ghouls take that away, and allow no one to assist her? No, of course not, and they are bald-faced liars in other respects too. What about those 13-year-old girls having double mastectomies? Who is giving consent for minors to have elective surgery?

******

I saw this a few days ago and immediately wondered why the author chose 51 years. Was it to maximize the impact of the data? Probably. But I like it anyway.

******

I hope he is identified, and some local youths find him and piss on him. Political speech is fine. But making political statements anonymously is the signature of a coward. And adding in the destruction of property in a particularly disrespectful way makes this miscreant a worthless bum.

Tell me again why universities have any standing to investigate crimes? Hell, they can't catch their students cheating, so why does anyone think that they can manage violent crime?

The people involved in this should be tried by the state of Michigan and hopefully found guilty. I simply cannot imagine a scenario in which a normal human being has a good reason to cover up a rape, and I doubt the good people of Michigan could either.
[Update] Commenter "Jen" has a different take, so I will reserve judgement.

A former Obama administration official running for a U.S. House seat in Florida once penned an article claiming the U.S. response to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks was a "moment of hypocrisy."

Lauren Baer, who worked for the State Department under both Hillary Clinton and John Kerry, also criticized the country's "shameful history" while hoping the attack, which killed nearly 3,000 people, would make America more "humble and humane."

Storm surges are expected to only reach 3 feet here which while annoying wont be to bad.

The bigger problem will be rain. This is basically swamp land and when it rains that much the farms here try to return to their roots.

For now staying put as flash flooding to my west is expected to be worse then we will get here.

Was it considered a 'major hurricane'?

"Major hurricane" is a term utilized by the National Hurricane Center for hurricanes that reach maximum sustained 1-minute surface winds of at least 50 m/s (96 kt, 111 mph). This is the equivalent of category 3, 4 and 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

The point of the chart was to show that major hurricanes -- the most powerful damaging ones -- are decreasing in frequency by almost 40%.

Posted by: blaster at September 13, 2018 11:14 AM (Z5y53)

And what did the bail out do?

Uh, nothing. Not a single toxic asset was ever bought up and allowed to unwind, and in fact, all those 'toxic' assets still exist.

The money was used by the Fed Res, and Treasury Dept. to consolidate the banking industry into fewer, much larger, banks.

So the real winners? Those who own the big banks, and through them, the Fed Res Bank (which does pay dividends to its stockholders).

How can you do a frequency analysis when you leave out half your data?
It would be like studying passenger jet air disasters east of the Mississippi and ignore all the others."

Pielke is a serious researcher, and I think this is related to a theory they have about long term atmospheric circulation conditions over the Atlantic Ocean. The theory would be, (very roughly put) that when one part of the cycle is in effect, storms that move across the Atlantic will veer north and end up striking the US East Coast, while in the other part of the cycle, they will hug the equatorial region more closely and end up terminating in the Gulf of Mexico.

What it notable in that chart, if you look at the dates, is that the late 20's and all of the 30's was an incredibly intense time for major hurricanes, more major storms than this country has ever seen in any similar time period before or since.

I think the same thing occurred after the 29 market crash when instead of the Fed stepping in, they let the run on banks occur and let them fail. That was the beginning and cause of the Great Depression IMO.

170 CBD, The latest lawsuit in the Nasser saga is fake and the person filing it should be charged.
This is nothing but an attempt at a money grab.

This story has been in the local news here in Michigan for several days. The MSU University police have NO records of this woman filing a complaint, etc. about Nasser. They have said unequivocally that her claim that the police department chief told her to file a complaint with the athletic department, but advised her that George Perles, who was either AD or a coach at the time was a powerful man and would ruin her life is ludicrous. No police department would refuse to take a rape complaint from a student, but instead turn it over to the athletic department.
George Perles is 84 years old and is currently on the BOD of MSU, although last year he said this was his last year on the BOD. His son spoke yesterday , stating there is no record of this person filing a complaint, and the dates she is claiming do not line up with when Perles was an AD, or when Nasser, (who was then just a student in the physio ed department at MSU) would have had any kind of contact with her. He was a student, why would he have been treating students( who typically would not have been 17 at the time, most freshman college students are at least 18 on entry).
What she claims happened sounds as fanciful as Jackie and the glass topped coffee table. She claims Nasser drugged her, raped her, and videoed it, and it resulted in a pregnancy which she then miscarried two months later. None of Nasser's many many victims have ever claimed he penetrated them with his penis, his MO was manual penetration.

MSU paid out over $1 M per claim last spring to each of Nasser's victims who were assaulted when he was a licensed kinesiologist/chiro and was working on MSU campus treating students and treating those referred to him from off campus. It's been a real bait for those looking to file a claim illegitimately for a payday.

Perles had zero involvement with Nasser as he was a football coach, and none of his players had any contact with Nasser. The NCAA just cleared both Izzo( basketball coach) and Dantonio( football coaches) from any need to investigate as they also had zero students have any contact with Nasser.

Let's just look at the logic. Why would a football coach who was also an AD for a time, try to ruin the life of a supposed 17 year old female student over a claim that a kinesiology major who was a grad student raped her? Like who was Nasser in the scheme of things at the time to either the AD or MSU. He wasn't even a licensed DO at the time. Why would that be "covered up" and Nasser protected?

The answer is it wasn't.

What would REALLY lead you to believe that would be if you were to examine the "normalization" calculations applied to past recorded temperatures for various (read: nonsensical) reasons which effectively shaved almost 2 full degrees off all recorded temperatures dating before 1965, so that now it looks like the 30's were cooler, although if you look in newspapers and sources from that time you'll see that many of the reported temperatures from that decade were actually higher than today.

339 There is no need to do a statistical analysis to ascertain the number of deaths from the storm.

You either have a body or body parts that can be certified by a coroner or official acting in that capacity.

There is also a process for certifying a death without a body.

We all know what's going on and the fact that nobody seems capable of asking even rudimentary questions is frustrating beyond belief.

I'm watching CBSN. They're reporting (OBX) from about 20 feet up on a seriously piled house. The owner is about 70 and said he's not going anywhere. I guess if he paid a hundred ground to have his home piled that high up he feels pretty confident.

Well, if we're telling dog stories . . .

I have three dogs, two larger dogs and one small, old, crotchety dog. So we went to the dog park yesterday. There was a huge great Dane there who was very friendly. He came over and introduced himself to me demanding to be petted. Once I had complied, he went to my dogs. The two larger got along fine with Odin, for I subsequently found out that is his nane, then he reached down to great the small dog who was about the size of Odin's head. She charged him snarling and growling as is her custom and Odin decided discretion was the better part of valor and took off. Probably said to himself that bitch is crazy!

It's worse than that - they were hung up on codes for the various death certificates, so they went hunting thru those w/multiple codes. One out of five was discarded as "garbage" (not giving a desired result. Hmmm), whilst others (nearly half) had multiple codes, so they determined the cause... (hmmm. Again).

Oddly enough, death certificate processing improved post Maria. But they still insisted on using the pre Maria data that they admit is suspect.

So yeah, crap in, crap out.

511 406 I'm sorry, but the off duty cop that entered the wrong apartment and shot the occupant incident is out of control.

She happened to be white. He happened to be black. Now they're going crazy, demanding "justice" and a civilian committee that has Subpoena rights........

Because, RAYCISSSSS!!!!!!
______________

They haven't even waited for the results of the investigation before deciding that the investigation is racially biased.

Why can no one ever wait for the actual facts before they make their conclusion? We don't even know for sure what happened yet, other than that the woman cop shot the man in his own apartment. There have been media reports that some witnesses heard her banging on the door demanding to be let in before the shooting. Other reports say that she went to the wrong floor, saw what she thought was her apartment door ajar, and walked in.

IOW, we don't know yet what actually happened. What we DO know is that many of these early "eyewitness" reports often turn out later to be completely false. Remember how many "eyewitnesses" in the Mike Ferguson case swore that he had his hands up in the air when he was shot? Some of them even swore that he was on his knees with his hands in the air when he was shot. We know now from the ballistics report and other evidence that those eyewitness reports were total bullshit (and some of the "eyewitnesses" were nowhere near the scene when the shooting happened), but that never stops the media from reporting their claims as undeniable fact.

You'd think people would learn from the past and have enough sense to wait for the facts before they jump to a conclusion that some action was RAAAAAACIST, but as Barky ("Obviously, the cop acted stupidly") Obama proved, even a degree from Harvard Law School doesn't stop that instinct to shoot off the mouth first, ask questions about what actually happened later.

This is correct - the study only takes deaths above what it ("it" meaning the leftists who were commissioned by the other leftists to undertake the study) establishes as a "normal baseline" of "expected deaths" and then any amount over that figure in deaths in the period during, or (i believe) the three months after the hurricane, regardless of actual cause, are "deaths caused by hurricane" - so - in other words - made up liberal, lefty bullsh*t. There is no actual attempt at causation or correlation. So - if you slipped and fell on a banana peel and cracked your head open and died during that time : "hurricane caused" You were mauled to death by a bear? "hurricane caused", you drove your car, purposefully off a cliff? "hurricane casued" it is so total bullsh*t it is not funny. The actual deaths casued by the hurricane? "64" - anything else is made up bullsh*t. If anyone cites that figure you should call bullsh*t.

540 "An eye-opening documentary, The Creepy Line reveals the stunning degree to which society is manipulated by Google and Facebook and blows the lid off the remarkably subtle -- hence powerful -- manner in which they do it.

The Creepy Line is a title taken from the words of former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, when during a 2010 interview he explained Google's code of conduct: 'The Google policy on a lot of things is to get right up to the creepy line and not cross it.' However, as Dr. Robert Epstein explains in the film, 'Google crosses the creepy line every day.'

Containing interviews with Jordan B. Peterson, Peter Schweizer, and others, The Creepy Line offers an explosive look at the meddling and intervening done by Google and Facebook on their supposedly "neutral platforms."

Close to 30 years ago now, there used to be a pub in Jerusalem called "Prophet's Pub". Cool place, they'd do hippy live music in the basement and live traditional jazz on the ground floor.

We only found it because we were on leave hanging out on Ben Yehuda and this young dude comes walking by in robes, sandals, fake beard and carrying a sign saying "The End Is Near". And he's barking out "The end is near, the end is near! Have a beer at Prophet's Pub!" We called him over and talked for awhile. Oddly enough, death certificate processing improved post Maria. But they still insisted on using the pre Maria data that they admit is suspect.
