When I retire, I'm thinking of writing stories of the America that could have been.

Eisenhower sees all these issues, and makes wise decisions.

We are mining asteroids, power is nuclear and abundant. The Earth is clean and prosperous. Gambling involves bets on science groups to get the Nobel Prize. There is no race or SJW issues at all. The US is full of individuals and self-governed citizens. And $20 - 40 trillion of national output has not been wasted.

On the story, there are a couple of writers that describe the world we live in. Those authors are derided for their unlikely and extreme horror tales.

You mean he was just holding out for a better deal?

Huh.

Is this an intelligence test? Guess we will find out soon. This hasn't worked out in the past for those that gave up their guns, IIRC.

This story reminds me of the old USSR ... you could apply for an exit visa and you could leave the Soviet Union if you got one ... but applying for an exit visa was proof of subversiveness and, if you knew anything at all, you had to be dealt with for "national security". So, you ended up getting a visa for 5 years in the gulags. When you got out you were free to apply again, if you still wanted to leave.

There is nothing about miles driven. If someone like me who drove 20,000 miles a year for 25 years to work and never has a ticket or an accident so no claims for me, versus another driver who is driving primarily around town, puts on 2000 miles a year and has no incidents, I would have the better chance to have an accident or ticket.

I can't say that he started out wanting to lose. I do, however, after seeing the depth of treason this rotten government has been involved in with regards to Teh Donald, believe he was "approached" at some point and flattered that history would treat him as a true statesman if he lost (but not make it obvious he wanted to lose) to the dog-eating crackhead.

A plan which was obviously not shared with Palin, whom he neither wanted (we know he wanted Lieberman) or liked (as we can tell from his typical asshole final wishes).

Fuck McCain, fuck the GOP, fuck the Democrat hypocrites who had nothing good to say about him, fuck the MFM that is whitewashing the Democrat slander of McCain and fuck his bratty, entitled wife for using his death as a Royal Procession of the Grieving Widow before her inevitable accession to the Family Congressional Seat.

Since 2008, the Moscow-Washington hotline has been a secure computer link over which messages are exchanged by a secure email.

I've read in a couple places now that, according to various campaign staffers, Romney didn't exactly "take a dive" - but after he won the first debate and realized that he could actually win, the enormity of the office overwhelmed him.

So - he tightened up, played it even more safe the rest of the way, and lost. The decision to pull back and be less aggressive in debates two and three was his decision alone - again, according to staffers.

I'll go find some links.

And they make sure to take away your speech while you're at it. So when they come for the guns they can do it quietly and without fuss.

"Hate speech" concepts, social media "conduct codes" deplatforming, "flagging offensive speech," campus "speech codes" the new Right Not to Be Offended, the premise that your words are "racist" based on hidden intent or someone else's feelz, imposing mandatory trangender pronouns, etc etc etc are all delegitimizing the basic idea of free speech, or at least that's the goal.

They want your speech, your guns, you. There's a reason why speech and guns are Amendments 1 and 2.

234 the most absurd thing about the Mueller "special counsel" is they went into DeepState to get the most corrupt and biased possible people. Nothing special about it.
Rosenstein then completely unleashed Mueller with "where ever that may lead" ... so now they are way off Russian involvement and are raiding lawyer's offices for attorney client privilege files. They are essentially a new independent branch of government.

Sure Trump can fire them, but since they are DeepState, they use the media as another arm of their shadow government, and in lesser figures (Seth Rich?) ... have other means of destroying lives.

It does seem they are being exposed, but with that comes the risks of them pulling out all stops ... calling in all the "markers" on the various congressmen, mobsters, oligarchs, judges, IC ... that owe favors and that are owned via kompromat.

but the people seem to be getting the message, despite Google and the others censoring us. game on...

He must've been elected are reelected time and again courtesy of the Open Primary plan then. Lindsay Graham sure loves it.

Speaking of McCain's popularity, I read a comment over at Mooch's Mirror yesterday that he's lying in state in AZ and had 10k-15k people come out to pay their respects. If true, that's a lot of people coming out to pay their respects to such a [pick your unflattering adjective] man. I was surprised it was that high.

I have absolutely zero knowledge about the inner workings of South African Politics.

But I know human nature ... and I'm sure, as the writing on the wall became more and more obvious, the South African Don't Give Into the Outrage Choir just got louder and louder.

So ... while there's some people there that don't deserve what's coming ... there are at least some that do. Because they're complicit - just by the nature their middle-mindedness.

I need to start watching those events more. Because they're going to be instructive.

and they have a glimmer of hope now with Trump taking a position in the fight. But once they take the guns, it would seem prudent to get out, even if they leave behind most of their assets.

or at least that has been the choice of many that left ... The murder rate of farmers is estimated at 133/100,000. Annually I assume, which is a very high murder rate, a very low genocide rate.

It perfectly illustrates McCain's character (and pettiness). You could understand the public request that Trump not attend - there had been insults between them. However, as you said, Palin has been consistently respectful toward McCain, despite his own campaign consultants making a career out of kneecapping her and McCain's recent betrayal.

I expect to see more of these political own-goals as McCain (from the grave), the MSM and his Democrat and GOP friends use this as an opportunity to hit Trump and others. Bring it.

302 I never saw anything that Obama was trying to take over individual 401K plans. The only thing he did with 401K plans was to push through a regulation change that allowed smaller companies to pool employees together for 401K plans. But he did favor having employees go into IRAs rather than 401Ks. The only problem with that is most employees were ineligible for IRAs. You might say IRAs were geared to low income people who didn't pay taxes anyway so they were of no benefit.

324 it is good McCain (or family) kept Palin out ... it reveals it was not just a personal thing against Trump. It was a McCain personal problem, and using the funeral as a political statement.

In the DeepState world, Palin and Rush were two of those major targets ... the Alinsky method of using individuals to represent their enemy, and attacking them in every way possible, mostly personal attacks.

Then came Trump and it is all about him now, and his deplorables.

Just looking at it realistically, there are roughly 40k white farmers in SA, the US immigration lottery system allots roughly 3k slots to SA and the bulk of those slots go towards chain migration so that would probably leave a couple hundred left for new immigrants of which black SA's would probably make up the bulk as they are they type our immigration system favors, non-white, poorly educated, largely unproductive, destined to become Uber drivers and umbrella salesmen in NYC.

The other Anglosphere countries, New Zealand, Australia have extrodinarily tightly controlled immigration systems and would more than likely not want or could absorb that number.

And the white SA's can forget about the refugee and asylum route as all countries bias their systems towards the non-white and unproductive classes.

So in closing, the white SA farmers are shit out of luck, I wish them the best but know what's in store for them.

And us, eventually.

I was reading Roth's books at the time and had a fairly high opinion of him until reading this interview. After that I think the only book of any merit he wrote was Portnoy's Complaint (see Harvey Weintstein, Schniederman, Woody Allen, Anthony Weiner...). I'll have to search for the details, but early in his first term one of his agencies held one of those "request for input" periods about their plans to nationalize 401Ks. This set off a panic, and Obama ended up only creating a program targeted at people whose jobs don't typically provide a 401K - waitresses, hair salon workers, etc. A "universal 401K", it was called, IIRC. It was seen as a foot in the door.

Seem to recall California doing (or trying) to do something similar a few years ago that was more intrusive than Obama's program.

357 The burial of McCain is a momentous occasion for several reasons, none of which you will see mentioned in the MFM.

First, the leader of the NeverTrumpers and anti-Tea Party Beltway is dead. McCain was always taking shots at Republicans like a child, and if you criticized him, the NeverTrumpers would throw down the Vietnam POW card. No criticism of McCain was allowed. Just look at how he has been given a pass on the Steele Dossier. He should have been grilled over his antics of passing it along.

Second, its time we buried McCain and his second place legacy. He lost in 2008 to Obama, but somehow he felt he was still relevant. How does coming in second make you a leader? He wasn't. He was just a bombthrower, which somehow was translated in "Maverick." What was he a maverick about? Just pissing people off. That's it. There is no McCain Doctrine or lofty economic plan. McCain was nothing but a walking/talking tantrum.

Third, we need to bury the RINO. As chief RINO, other RINOs have lost their cover. Flake and Rubio and Collins and the others are tiny specks with no legacy. McCain gave them cover. Well, now they are unprotected by the Vietnam POW who can never be criticized. Lindsey Graham knows this and he has started to come around to the 63 million Trump voters.

It's time we buried McCain and everything petty conflict that McCain stood for.

Yup..a huge part of the left wing problem with todays American Jews...Their religion is socialism...fuckin idiots."

Whenever this comes up, I feel the need to point out (and I am not jewish myself, but I have many friends who are) that there is a HUGE moral, societal, and religious split between the factions known as the Reformed Jewish Movement, and the Orthodox (and some of their allies)

The Orthodox are those who actually have true religious feeling, who support Israel absolutely, and who mostly support Trump. Jared Kushner and his family are Orthodox. The Orthodox are a minority in the US, but very strong in Israel. The Orthodox are on our side, and I am on theirs.

The Reformed movement is totally apostate - they call themselves jews because of their ancestors, but they do not believe in any God, they no longer believe in Israel, and they absolutely hate the Orthodox and would love to see them destroyed. (because the faithfulness of the Orthodox points out the depth of their own evil hearts) Their only "faith" is in liberal social movements, because that is how they self identify. Sadly, the United States is the center of the Reform Movement worldwide, and includes a majority of those in this country who identify as Jews.

as is taking place in the rest of our society, there is a cold civil war taking place inside Judaism today, and the battle lines are clearly drawn.

Speaking of schools, Philadelphia decided to open public schools before Labor Day for the first time ever this year.

Remember Chesterton's Fence? Don't tear down the fence until you know why it's there?

To date -- two half days because they had to close early due to heat. Ninety plus degrees in the classrooms.

Gee, it's fvcking August, who could have seen that coming?

Vic. I was directly involved with people in Congress and the regulatory
agencies who were pushing these proposals. There were actual some
original table setting measures in Dodd-Frank that ended up being cutout
aimed at that purpose. They did create some government sponsored
401k's but they never really took off. But the intent they had was
indeed to grab the 401k balances. They only gave up because it would be
such obvious confiscation. I can tell you there are some Democrats in
Congress who have still not given up on this idea. Scary stuff with
Socilaists knocking on the door.

Posted by: Marcus T at August 30, 2018 08:22 AM (o/HFU)

I follow 401K plan stuff pretty closely since I am living off the dividends from mine. I never saw any of that on the street but the MFM could have been burying it as they did with many Obama illegal acts. But that would have impacted a huge number of voters and it would have killed him and the Democrat Party.

And I don't have much time before I have to take forced withdrawals from mine and I don't want to.

Fairfax County, VA did that too. The School Board put out the proposal for comment, it was roundly criticized by pretty much everyone, and they did it anyway.

So they had school start this past Tuesday, and now the official school year starts with two short weeks. Then there is a "teacher work day" a week or two after that.

now for 401(k)s and spreading - spreading the wealth."

That's why the myRA thing was so damned crucial. Like ObamaCare - it doesn't matter if the program works. Job Number One is getting the program into existence.

First - you get a National Pension Program like myRA going - something that's new so as not to be perceived as another failure like Social Security.

Then ... you offer "voluntary conversions" ... like an annuity. Throw all the words in there like "guaranteed return" - its all bullshit, but we're talking about a really fucking stupid pool of rubes here. They'll fall for it.

The final coup de grace ... "voluntary" becomes "mandatory". Not all at once, of course. A few percentage points. The amount doesn't matter - setting the precedent does.

Maybe I can be an advisor for GECSPLAN.

During the Obama Administration and starting when

Democrats were in control they were already scheming to nationalize your

401k...

They'll keep tryin because public sector pension funds are failing,

and unions are one of the biggest proponents for "nationalized 401K."

Because the government says "Why should you have the burden of managing

your retirement money when our experts can do a much better job for

you?" Yeah, NO THANKS!

Posted by: Lizzy at August 30, 2018 08:12 AM

LOL. That was always my favorite line. We managed our money so badly that you need to take our billions to fund your system that you managed so well that its in the hole billions. OKAY that sounds like a plan. Why would I take your promise again?

The people who broke one system want to take the $$$ from people who actually, you know saved their own money, and fund the system they broke.

They always need someone else's money. Isn't there some Keynsian theory that says if the government spends all the money it actually accelerates the economy by 100 times the amount if individuals spend it?

Magic thinking. This time we won't run out.

LOL

The wife and I are trying to figure out what to do with ours before we get to the mandatory withdrawal stage.

We spent the last 25 years each putting the max in our 401k and ther is a very large chunk of $$$ in it. We want to leave something for our son when we pass and are trying to figure out how to keep the Government out of his inheritance.

Indeed, if it comes down to Sen. Cory "T-Bone" Booker and former MA Governor "Coupe" Deval Patrick I'm pretty sure it's Patrick in a walk. He was a reasonably competent manager of the shit-show that is the government of the Commonwealth and actually signed-off on a very reasonable compromise on guns in the last year of his second term.

Honestly, it's been really hard to tell the difference with having a (very liberal) RINO NeverTrump GOPer leading the mess on Beacon Hill lo these last 4-years.

========

Did you see the vid of Theresa May visiting the black South African school, and the black children started dancing and then Theresa busted a move and started dancing along. She seemed ecstatic to be the only white person in that assemblage. That's what I think is behind Nancy and the white leftist desire for whites not to be a majority. Being surrounded by minorities makes them feel special. No need to feel self conscious - it's like being surrounded by puppies. If Theresa had gone to a white school, she'd probably have felt awkward and frumpy.

He's done a lot of things that wouldn't fly now.

He bore a lot of the blame for the Justina Pelletier outrage. He could have intervened at any moment and put a stop to it but chose not to.

Then there was a gruesome case of a drunk illegal who struck a motorbike rider, who was dragged along under the truck. He was still alive and people kept shouting at the driver to stop, but he kept on until the guy was dead. I forget the sentence, but it was a slap on the wrist. Comparable to Kate Steinle and would also negatively impact Deval's popularity.

When Michael Graham was still in Boston, he was awesome at chronicling what a shitty person Patrick was.

473 Are there any commenters here who served in virtnam ? JJ was the correct age Fid he have bone spurs?

I was born in 1960, and if I recall correctly, JJ and I are approximately the same age. The US didn't draft 10-year olds to fight in Vietnam.

My second degree is in Chemical Engineering, and the Navy heavily tried to recruit me to be a nuclear engineer. I accepted a better job offer but admit there are times when I wish I had served.

474 Its says a lot about McCain that Biden will speak at his funeral while Palin is told to stay away.

Also, I think he refused to resign so that he'd be entitled to a lot of fan fair at his funeral, at my expense, as a sitting senator. To hell with the people of AZ getting actual representation. McCain is a selfish jerk to the end!

475 When my "borrowing" neighbor got two geese because her children "wanted" them I warned her about the zoning code. She didn't listen and she got a visit. Someone else complained because she let then roam all over the neighborhood.

Had a pair of neighbors that hated each other. Well, the one resident got some chickens and let them run loose and other would complain about the chickens being in his yard. Told the one neighbor to be sure to take pictures of the chickens near identifiable landmarks in his yard and warned the other to keep the chickens where they belonged.

Fast forward about a year later and I'm Field Training Officer with a rookie. We have to go see the neighbor that has the photographic proof of chickens being in his lawn. Our leash law was written in such a way as to be applicable to any animal. I had the rookie write the other neighbor a citation for a violation of the leash law. The at-fault neighbor says, "Can't I get a warning?" and I whip out my notebook and flip to the appropriate page and tell him that he did get a warning on such-and-such date. Rookie had eyes THIS BIG and I could barely keep from laughing.

Last time I ever had to deal those damn chickens!
