The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

They hate you because you refuse to honor and respect them, to validate their cheesy status within the Beltway hierarchy, and to acknowledge them as your betters. Your pig-headed uppityness has disrupted their scam. The old paradigm, the model of go-along/get-along and feed the crackers out there in America articles about lib outrages to keep them writing checks, no longer cuts it. You’ve stripped them of their status by holding them accountable for their failure to fight for conservatism, and for us. Kurt Schlichter

Quote II

“It’s something very special traditionally, culturally. The first harvest of any person was given out to the community or to the namesake of the child and, you know, this is what we did with the harvest,”Albert Netser

Quote III

“I was there because I wanted to see a fitting memorial to everyone who’s died in every terrorist incident everywhere because we have to end it. You cannot pursue peace by a cycle of violence. The only way you pursue peace is a cycle of dialogue.” Jeremy Corbyn

I guess 'dialogue' is short for the murder of 11 Olympic athletes.

How interesting, Keith Ellison (D-MN) has some explaining to do other than "he said-she said".

***

Don't snicker too hard while you are eating your popcorn.

Leaders of Christian organizations the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) unfairly labels as "hate groups" told PJ Media that a massive legal onslaught is headed toward the SPLC — and it could involve as many as sixty separate lawsuits in different states around the country. Rather than one big defamation lawsuit, the left-wing attack dog will face a scattershot approach.

"What we're considering is not a class-action lawsuit," Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, a Christian nonprofit branded a "hate group" by the SPLC and currently suing the charity navigation site GuideStar, told PJ Media on Monday. "These are individual lawsuits that we're looking at, not class action.

Speaking of leftist crap that should face some legal consequences.

maddogpac BILLBOARD (1).png

The Weekend Gun Thread wouldn't mind seeing Link Media Outdoor face a little music from the NRA. They have a billboard on 4 lane WI State Hwy 29 calling the NRA a terrorist organization.

Maybe you Morons could let the NRA know. Perhaps you feel slandered or libeled. Chippewa County, WI is the legal venue if you so choose.

Back issues? Are you sitting the correct way?

"We should sit less, and we should sit better," he says.

Over the past century or so, many Americans have lost the art of sitting, he says. Most people in the U.S. — even children — are sitting in one particular way that's stressing their backs. You might not realize you're doing it. But it's super easy to see in other people.

So what is so bad about being a "moron"? Thomas Friedman vs. Greg Gutfeld.

***

Are you like me, sitting on pins and needles? Will he or won't he? John Katshit Kasich debates himself whether he will run for president.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) on Sunday didn’t rule out a presidential run in 2020, saying he’s not sure what he’s going to do, in part because the mood of the country changes so frequently.

“What I’m doing now is — look, I’m staying alive. I’m speaking out. But every time I say anything or observe something, people want to say, ‘oh, well, that’s because he’s running for president,’ ” Kasich said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” when asked about the prospect of a 2020 campaign.

“I really don’t know what I’m going to do,” he continued. “Maybe I will. Maybe I won’t. I don’t know. But here’s what I do know. My job as a human being, ultimately, is to serve the Lord. And if I’m helping people to realize their God-given purpose and destiny, then I’m striking tin, and that’s good.”

***

Chelsea Clinton, the apple doesn't fall from the tree. Abortion is a boost to the economy.

During the event, Clinton brought up a correlation between Roe v. Wade and women in the workforce.

“It is not a disconnected fact [...] that American women entering the labor force from 1973 to 2009 added three and a half trillion dollars to our economy,” Clinton said, according to CNSNews.com. “Right? The net, new entrance of women — that is not disconnected from the fact that Roe became the law of the land in January of 1973.”

Twitter. Face Book. These two social media giants have been in the news frequently. Is it time to break them up as monopolies? One conservative's view on the subject.

There is a strong Republican antitrust tradition.

Tucker Carlson

✔@TuckerCarlson

The big digital monopolies demand that we conform to their worldview and shut us down when we dissent. They have too much power. They are are threat to this country. Congress is doing nothing about it. It’s time to complain, while we still can. #Tucker @FoxNews

9:05 PM – Apr 26, 2018
When he tweeted these words, Carlson was expressing a sentiment that many on the right have come to embrace. People are concerned, with good reason, that big tech companies discriminate against conservatives. Numerous conservative outlets have had their videos demonetized on Google’s YouTube. PragerU is appealing their loss in a lawsuit over that. A study by The Western Journal showed that a change to Facebook’s algorithm disproportionately harmed conservative sites.

Incarcerated felons in California have the opportunity to fight fires. That opportunity is gone once released.

As the largest wildfire in California's history continues to burn out of control, thousands of inmates from the California Department of Corrections are helping professional firefighters battle the flames.

Those inmates are literally risking their lives to protect people, homes, and businesses as part of the state's volunteer inmate firefighter program—and they are paid less than $2 per day for their work, even as they toil alongside professionals who earn an average of $74,000 annually (and that's not counting overtime).

An even crueler twist? Once they are released from prison, those same men and women will likely be denied the opportunity to put their skills to use, as California's licensing laws prohibit individuals with criminal records from becoming firefighters.

13 As I said in the thread below, about 20 years ago, FEDGov was going after Microsoft for including a browser in their operating system, threatening to break them up.

What is going on now with these tech companies is an ELE for Constituional Republicanism.

At a bare minimum they should be designated utilities and public accommodations.

If bakers got to bake a cake for a fag, Facebooks gotta allow conservatives to use their platforms on an equal footing with the satanist aka leftwards.

Because at the end of the day, a fag can bake his own damn cake, conservatives cannot easily build a globe spanning ubiquitous communications platform.

For an example of what we are facing, look what's happening to Gab.

Same for offramps. Slow down to 35mph on the freeway, then merge off.

It has mostly to do with US policy on refugee resettlement.

When we take in refugees they are fully dependent and contribute 0.00 dollars to their maintenance and upkeep for they and their families.
Our policy is to settle refugees in low crime, low cost areas of the country.
Which is why you have Zimbabweans in Kansas, Somali in Minnesota, Hmong in Colorado, etc.

No refugee gets placed in cities like NY, LA or Boston, ie high cost, high crime areas.

151 Grand Haven is 2 hours from Howell.
Posted by: clutch at August 14, 2018 10:30 PM (kiSdp)

I didn't realize it was that close - from Lansing, I assume an hour to GR and an hour to the lake, and Howell's 45 minutes in the opposite direction. But if you take 96 west, it's 2 hours 15 to the park from Grand Haven. That's not far at all.

The location was chosen for proximity to the Michigan Geographical Center of Moronity, which is roughly between Williamston and Washtenaw/Oakland/Monroe/Macomb counties. That means that you don't even have to stay overnight if you're coming from there. Though you'll want to anyhow, since there will be a cabin reserved and you'll want to get 'faced around the fire with errybody after dinner.

They did a survey of Hmong, 57pct identified as Democrat, 4 pct as Republican, the rest said they didn't know or wouldn't reveal.

In 2008, Obama got 75pct of the Hmong vote.

Higher than even Hispanics but slightly less than Asians overall who went for Obama by a whopping 80pct, the only other group that voted for Obama that was higher than Asians was, you guessed it, Blacks, who voted for Obama by a staggering 95pct.

Hmong: Lovely people, shitty voting habits, like every other minority.

244 Let's just note on the California Inmate Firefighter post that Reason managed to not mention some critical information.

While many former inmates will be denied employment as firefighters *for municipal agencies*, they are eligible for hire by CalFire into the Firefighter I rank, and eligible for further promotion within the CalFire system.

The qualifications for being a CalFire Firefighter I are:
Be 18 years of age.

That's it.

The qualifications for being a municipal Fireman in California (and most other places) are far more stringent.

Many former inmates do go on to serve CalFire after their incarceration.

364 Went and saw They Live at the Alamo Drafthouse.

Omnipotent Google failed in delivering me large breasted 'Ettes

So went to a different Drafthouse, one about 25 minutes away in the Westlakes part of San Antonio.

This one feels like it focuses on the Drafthouse part of the name. Also, no stadium seating! Actually, that was a nice change of pace.

Outstanding service. Alamo Drafthouse always has really good service but it was a sold out showing and the people running the place really busted their asses tonight. Very impressed. Had myself a vodka and Sprite on the waiters recommendation and later had a margarita.

They Live was pretty fun. It was actually smart satire in a way. Not to oversell it, I mean it was a goofy alien invasion story starring Rowdy Roddy Piper, but it was well executed and is definitely still relevant today.

Pro wrestlers have to Ooze charisma in order to work a crowd and Piper really seems to do the whole thing with a wink and a nod and having a good ole time throughout.

And I just LOVE John Carpenter.

Anyway, glad I saw this and definitely a classic worth recommending.

Cooked to perfection. They were thick steaks-almost 2". Actually, they were the RE caps bundled with a piece of string. If I were to unbundle them & cook them flat, the above cook times would have been way too long. Perfect medium rare.

433 Lurks, Moron WisRich yesterday advised that in November it's more like a "slate" election - if Walker wins, other GOPs win. Do you fear that the "out counties" might not turn out in sufficient numbers?

As semi-useless as most of the GOP still is, circumstances allow no fancy strategerizing at this point - the maximum possible obliteration of Dems is key.

A GOP wave in the Senate (which I've always thought was possible but is rarely discussed - not just 5 pick-ups but maybe 8 or 10), combined with the "pick-up" of Flake's and McCain's seats into less disastrous hands, minus the decrement of Mitt's new seat in UT, could sort of produce a momentum of its own. WI and MI seem like two places the Senate seats should be in play.

Netflix has a 5(?)-part series called "Fire Chasers" about the 2016 fire season in California. One of the story lines follows a crew of female inmates as they train to fight fires... IIRC some of them had plans to continue firefighting after release.

Hitting closer to home, another story line followed the crew from the Mid-coast Fire Brigade as they fought the Soberanes Fire in Big Sur and in particular Palo Colorado Canyon, which is where our cabin is. The fire line came to within 800' of our property.

Gridlock is good. The less the federal government does the better, no matter who is in charge of it.

O-care needs to be completely repealed - and that's just the start to taking the stranglehold off health care and averting self-inflicted fiscal catastrophe.

The immigration laws Trump complains about are indeed idiotic and disastrous, and effectively prevent the US from enforcing any sort of border, absent the ......

"Wall", or physical border security, which ALSO requires action, not gridlock.

Haven't heard of "beef sushi" before, but this steak may have been a bit beyond that... rich pink, not "blue". The ribeye cap is perhaps more forgiving of a bit of overcooking since it's so incredibly tender, but this steak was in no way overcooked.

I've contemplated sous vide and it sounds nice in theory, but you're right: the quick, thin sear doesn't sound appealing. Makes sense, perhaps, if you're preparing a lot of food and want the time flexibility; but for a few steaks why not do them right?

In a scenario where we have an electorate similar to 2016, I've always thought "blue wave" in the House and only 5 pick-ups in the Senate were silly.

But that's the question. Hard to believe the country wants to die so bad that it rewards the vile, ridiculous freak show that the Dem party has become with one house - a party that inter alia uniformly opposed every single thing that that same electorate likes about how things are going. 448 My moronic view of the Wi primary is as follows, as is a link to the data if you feel like looking for yourselves.

Vukmir won--good. Nicholson's outside money wasn't enough to overcome her stellar track record. I'd have voted for him in the general, but like the way it turned out.
I still say Tammy wins the general due to campaign warchest, outside cash and 4 months of positive ads used to reintroduce herself to the state she used to live in.

Ever's won the D nom for Gov. with more votes than most of the other candidates combined. Interestingly, Milwaukee voted by skin color, though as a white I'm probably not supposed to notice that.

Iron worker Randy Bryce (d) won the nom for Ryan's seat and will run against Bryan Steil (r), Ryans handpicked successor. Bryce has a shit ton of money, it's a seat they really want and will probably flip D this year. Expect him to say Hank Johnson style things once he's off scripts.

I noticed something that should worry folks, and that is that D numbers were larger across the board than R numbers. That doesn't bode well considering D's aren't the most motivated primary voters, traditionally.

I agree with Rhomboid's (actually citing WisRich) assessment that this will be a slate election, and whichever side is most motivated will likely sweep the major races in Wi.

Trump was elected by the 'Reagan Democrats' -- voters who either vote Democrat or not at all. Vukmir is a lovely person (really, really short), but will she inspire the Reagan Democrats (now sometimes referred to as Trumpsters)? I guess we'll see. She's nice, but not exactly inspiring. Try to imagine her standing (shortly) next to Trump with the motorcycle club people from last week ... Can ya do it?

456 450 I'm just cynical. There are a great many wonderful things the house and senate could do but I have been disappointed too many times. The best I think we can hope for is to resist all change. Math is going to win and I mean the math of enormous government debt coupled with rising interest rates. Right now it feels like 1926.

The debt is mostly in the form of promises that can be reneged on. What will probably happen is medicare and social security will become "need based", thus convincing generations of younger people only suckers save for retirement. If you're running the government, that last part is a plus.

At the very least it would've been better if it started as something that only paid benefits to the first generation that paid for decades, and base payouts on exactly what that generation paid in. Still a questionable program, but at least something that should sustain itself as long as politicians don't muck about with the payouts.
