All these questions around the "24 and me" post, that was supposed to be a joke, let me explain it, so we're not insulting your intelligence.
I don't know who posted the "24 and me" picture of the young man with Down's Syndrome. I don't know if the person posting it was in any way connected with the young man whose picture was being used.
I'm well familiar with the 23 and Me concept and company.
I am more familiar with Down's Syndrome than probably anyone else on this website... with possibly a few exceptions, of other who are as familiar with it as I am.
What I don't know, if someone is joking about this subject, who the subject of the joke is supposed to be. So if it didn't occur to any of you geniuses that I'm wary of the possibility that the young man whose picture was being used, might be the butt of the joke, and not the source of it... well, then maybe you're not as smart as you think you are.

Ironically, I don't usually crave sugar anymore...unless I drink a Diet Coke. Then I crave sugar.
The first week I began nightly fasting, my sugar cravings disappeared. This is from someone who would often think at 1 AM, "I'll give you a thousand dollars to go get me a donut." They were intense cravings.
Anyway, to be free of daily sugar cravings is an immense freedom. I'd do fasting for that reason alone. Not the crazy kind Ace does. Just the nightly ones.

I'm pretty sure that's a genetic switch, I don't care about chocolate particularly or like it that much. Some people long for it. Its like people who can smell arsenic or think cilantro taste like soap.
I have a theory that people's bodies crave different things: some people want fatty foods, some people want sweet foods, some people want bitter foods, etc. And that can strongly influence your diet and health. Someone who likes salty foods will eat sunflower seeds and popcorn for a snack. People who like fatty or sweet will tend to eat stuff that's really bad for you like candy bars and pastries.
Its more of a struggle for the fat-craving person to lose weight and change their diet than the bitter-craving person. So claims that "this was so easy" or "you're just weak willed" don't make sense at all between different sorts.
Further, I think that peoples metabolisms are different enough that one diet may work great for some people and not at all for others.

I think its not so much the ingredients as the giving into craving for sugars and sweets, which extends beyond diet pop. If you don't get that, your body might be able to get used to doing without and lose the craving. When I was eating sugar and having cravings Diet Coke had no discernible effect. I listen to my body though...it kind of makes me. So I can't say I'm the norm by any stretch.
However, there is something Diet Sodas do cause. In fact, I have the notes around somewhere. Learned it from a doctor. It didn't really slow me down much though. Maybe my brain will churn up the name of the condition in the next week.

It's long been an understanding that you don't indict the military intelligence of other countries. Because they spy and WE spy, so if you start prosecuting foreign intelligence for powderpuff stuff, like "interfering", you've opened up the door for other countries to demand the same thing.
Obama interfered in Israel's election. Anybody that did his bidding could have Israel appealing for extradition for those people. Although the Dems high-fived over GRU officials being indicted, they express outrage that Trump would comply with any similar requests by Putin.
This cannot fail to go unnoticed in the international community. We indict foreign officials with impunity, but turn around and say our guys are off limits? So in considering Putin's request, Trump has pushed this from theoretical to example.
If the US is adamant on not complying, it just shows the grandstanding sham of Mueller's "indictments" of GRU officials.
But having made such an international blunder, that could eventually work so that the world sees a crank prosecutor, operating independently of US's diplomatic protocol being a loose cannon and indicting foreign nationals is probably better shut down.
If Trump can get the nations to call for the end to the Mueller probe, he could shut it down easily--and what can the Patsies of the World, the Democratic party, say about it?

I do think it would attract a lot o people - people who have tolerated every Pussy march, march for science, pride march, blah blah blah. Living in/near DC means you get to witness - and sometimes have your commute or weekend plans - disrupted by every dang activist tantrum. Parades are a pain for the troops to do, but once into it, they have a way of being worthwhile. That said, I also think the public has a right to see their military on display, and not just the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds. Plus, opening for baseball and football games doesn't count.

The Marines looked the sharpest.

Sorry if this has been covered before but I'm too lazy to read too far up-thread.
I'm of a mixed mind on parades.
Parades are a pain for the troops to do, but once into it, they have
a way of being worthwhile. That said, I also think the public has a
right to see their military on display, and not just the Blue Angels or
the Thunderbirds. Plus, opening for baseball and football games doesn't
count.

I would like to see the air shows (on base military appreciation) restored to their former glory. I took my oldest to one when he was a toddler, as I had been many times before. Then Bronco took a dump on that tradition.
Yes, it can be a PITA for the troops. But it is also an opportunity to personally thank many of them who participate.
Spookies, Apaches, and Warthogs, oh my.
And Bones, and Buffs, and B1Bs, and B17s, and P51s, and Chinooks, and Raptors, and and and . . .

I had all four of mine pulled one day out in Colorado. The dentist was smokin' hot, but unfortunately married. Outranked me slightly, too. Add to this a grandmotherly assistant who looked at my little wisdom teeth and said "oh, how cute!" Not the proudest moment of my military career.

Peterson is a whole nother can of worms. I've noticed he has had some "Persuasion" training as Scott Adams might put it. I have too and I can see it in him. Its basic stuff, but effective and he's talented.
I saw some stuff that Peterson has done UN work for the South African ANC before. Some paper on supporting human migration in 2012 that gives me worries because he doesn't seem to say anything thing again mass migration and it leaves the door open to maybe he still supports it, or not.
But yeah, Peterson is talented and useful in the right contest. definitely.
