Cucks: We Don't Like Trump Saying that Obama Let Putin Take Crimea. Only We're Allowed to Say Obama Let Putin Take Crimea

If that tweet is a jumble, here's the cuck's tweet:

And here's the cuckling from February of this year:

This tweet from Donald Trump is inviting a lot of mockery this morning.

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump
I have been much tougher on Russia than Obama, just look at the facts. Total Fake News!

There's just one problem: Trump has a point.

Barack Obama sold out our Eastern European allies on missile defense. He slow-walked aid to Ukraine and did little more than shrug when Crimea was annexed. He said "never mind" on his own "red line" in Syria and turned a blind eye to Putin’s intervention there, in large part because of his obsessions with getting the Iran deal. The Russian meddling in our elections started on Obama’s watch -- and not just our elections but those of many of our allies. When Mitt Romney famously said Russia was our No. 1 geopolitical foe, Obama mocked him for it as did countless liberal journalists who are now converts to anti-Russia hawkery.

Here's the problem with Jonah Goldberg and why we've ejected him from the movement forever:

He never took a damn thing he's written seriously. It's all just a hustle, a paycheck. So it's very easy for him to forget things he's written before -- he didn't mean them when he wrote them, so it's easy enough to slough them off like a snake's old skin now.

At some point we all realized these people didn't mean a word they were saying at any time. And since they didn't give a shit about their #PaycheckConservative bullshit, we stopped giving a shit about it too.

I've heard stories from multiple sources about multiple NeverTrumpers. The highlight of these stories is that NeverTrumpers do believe the fantasy narrative they made up to comfort themselves. To wit:

Few in the GOP support the idea of Trumpism itself, that it's all a cult of personality centered around Trump. And therefore all you have to do as a NeverTrumper is denigrate Trump (and his supporters) or wait for Trump to implode. After that happens, the "spell" everyone is under is broken, and the cucks like Kristol, French, Hayes, and Goldberg, and Sasse and Kasich and Ryan, just get handed their party back.

This is delusional, of course.

First of all: Trump didn't convince us that these people were liberals and betrayers. We already believed that, based on years of grim evidence. We supported Trump because he declared what we already believed.

These people lie and lie and lie, never putting the majority of the base's concerns as any kind of priority, just paying lip service to those concerns as they ruthlessly sacrifice the base's actual primary concerns to secure their own primary concerns, or the concerns of their liberal friends and corporate donors.

We're tired of that. We don't want you any more. Whether it's Trump or whether it's a literal circus clown: We will take the literal circus clown over you.

We. Are. Done. With. You.

Forever.

There is no "spell" to break and there is no cult of personality. What there may be is an anti- Cult of Personality -- millions of Republicans united not in worship of someone but united in antipathy bordering on hatred for a group of charlatan liberals who've been sabotaging the alleged conservative movement for decades.

We're not coming back, and you're not coming back, either. This has little to do with Trump, except he was a self-financing option we could turn to in order to express our hatred.

Goodbye, chumps. You're liberals in fact; you might as well just make it official and get your party registration cards.

PS: The fact that you continue to tell yourselves fantastical fairy tales that a child wouldn't believe to comfort you like a woobie shows that you are not, in fact, Really Good at Politics as you endlessly claim on Twitter, and you are not, in fact, "elite" as far as cognitive ability.

You're dim and you believe in silly fictions instead of reality.

Go watch some soccer, Cosmopolitan "Conservatives."

Worked for a while, but about 15-20 years ago we noticed,

I think they get weak in the knees when Obama is attacked directly by Trump. Being the closet liberals they are and always have been, they have to virtue-signal their racial bona-fides whenever Trump says something mean about Obama.
They know that O was a total disaster who was in way over his head and let his underlings, minions and collaborators weaponize every single gov agency. They don't want the true story to ever come out and they realize that Trump is a loose cannon who will eventually blurt it out and that makes them sick to their stomach.

------

I think Ace lays it out pretty well here. It was never about conservatism for them, and let's be honest - not that many people ever read Weekly Standard or National Review. Not that many people listened to their think tanks, or wanted to go on their cruises.

It was just a gig. These organizations were being funded by rich men in the misapprehended belief that the Conservative Media Ecosystem (tm) was influencing thought in this country.

Trump ripped that mask off, and showed these people for the disconnected, unimportant class of self-impressed nitwits that they are. That they really, truly don't matter.

And, as their ephemeral illusory "influence" recedes, the once-plentiful sinecures will as well. They can see the writing on the wall - the cruises, the made up "Chairs of Conservative Thinkiness," and the cocktail party invites are slipping away.

And so for the first time in their miserable little existences, these overfed lesser sons of greater fathers have found something they're willing to fight to conserve.

The contents of their rice bowls.

99 Here's what I don't get.

I am most definitely not a Never Trumper, but I'll cop to having been a Trump Skeptic. I didn't like him, didn't like his rhetoric, didn't trust his political instincts, and kind of went through my own minor meltdown when he knocked Ted Cruz out. I don't think I ever pulled the lever for a Republican as reluctantly as I did for Trump, and really I only did it because I could not abide the thought of NOT voting against the Democrats and Hillary in particular after all the crooked shit that went on during Obama's administration.

But here's the thing. He's gotten results. Isn't that what we're supposed to care about? He plays Twitter like a fiddle. I don't like it -- I think social media is another word for social cancer -- but isn't it better to have someone on our side who knows how to use the damn medium? He's fearless. He doesn't buckle under the most withering criticism I've ever seen (and I remember the Bush II years quite well). His judicial picks (not just SCOTUS) have been absolutely stellar. We're seeing more progress for the conservative project from this swaggering loudmouth than in all the years since Reagan stepped down.

I was wrong about him, and in 2020 I'll crawl over broken glass to vote for him again. What's so frigging hard about admitting they were wrong?

I think Ace lays it out pretty well here. It was never about conservatism for them, and let's be honest - not that many people ever read Weekly Standard or National Review. Not that many people listened to their think tanks, or wanted to go on their cruises.

It was just a gig. These organizations were being funded by rich men in the misapprehended belief that the Conservative Media Ecosystem (tm) was influencing thought in this country.

Trump ripped that mask off, and showed these people for the disconnected, unimportant class of self-impressed nitwits that they are. That they really, truly don't matter.

Russia has been trying to assert its dominance as the heir of Byzantium since the fall of Constantinople to the Turks in the fifteenth century (Moscow = "3rd Rome), and has been abrogating to itself the role of protector of Christendom against the Turks since at least the 19th century, and I believe earlier. 164 Trumps big strength to me is he is not beholden to traditional political norms. Part of that is fighting back, part speaking bluntly, part taking advantage of new mediums of expression. Mix it with a public that is finally fed up, its a rather amazing thing to watch. The final secret is doing those things that we conservatives have always said were really popular and also beneficial. If we meant those things there was no reason not to do them.

Everything they do is to try and "show" us that's true.

It's not. Not even close.

They've tripled down.

Today's little stunt by the FBI was to goad Trump.

They allowed their globalist friends to tap him.
They even have CIA assets spying on him.

All to leak a tape of Trump blowing up and yelling at everyone after hearing the news.

175 I think a lot of it has to do with resentment.

These people make their living explaining the mood of the country and what approach will work to advance a party or ideology.

They spent years becoming more and more anti-borders, and leftist.

They spent years explaining the Jeb or Dondi were what we needed.

DJT comes along and ridicules them and shows that they are fools. This buffoon from Queens. He shows them up as losers.

So now they have to either accept that they are losers, and were wrong about everything, and riding on Reagan's coattails for decades without ever having done anything to advance conservatism or the party or the country.

They were the problem.

This is undeniable. With their consultation, we got GHWB, bubba, GWB, and tfg. We almost got mccain and hillary. Good grief how could things have gone worse?

ANd even the best of that bunch gave us medicare D and the Iraq war. The elder gave us a massive campaign to kill one man, who then spent decades taunting us.

With the advice and consent of guys like Goldberg and Will, we got tfg, and black lives matter, antifa, barrycare, and all the other crap he pulled which brought the country to the brink of collapse.

So they can accept that they were completely wrong, or they can close their eyes, stuter out "lalalala i can't hear you" like a child and double down on PDT failing.

1. Ace writes about what interests him. In case you wondered. Ask him sometimes.

2. Marcus Cicero -- A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

217 Ace uses the phrase "a group of charlatan liberals who've been sabotaging the alleged conservative movement for decades."

This reminds me of the British character actor Tom Wilkinson. He's quite a talented actor, but he never plays the leading man -- he always plays the anti-leading man, the main villain of the film, because he has "resting villain face." And he's always quite believable as the villain. But here's the thing: almost all his villains are right-wing villains: he plays corporate sleazeballs, Tory politicians, conservative hypocrites, rightwingers who on the surface are upright and prim but who in private are sadistic assholes, etc. He's so good at these roles that most people just automatically assume that Tom Wilkinson is himself a conservative, because who else could play a conservative so convincingly?

But no. It turns out that Tom Wilkinson is, in real life, a rabid leftie. And he has said in interviews that he enjoys portraying right-wing villains because that's his contribution to the Liberal Cause - - to be the one willing to put on the Bad Guy Suit and endure the boos and rotten tomatoes thrown at him, if by so doing he successfully inspires hatred for conservatism.

Anyway, that's the exact role the people whom we now call NeverTrumpers have been enacting for years: People who in real life are liberals, but who wear a conservative mask solely to undermine the conservative movement.

NeverTrumpers are the Tom Wilkinsons of American politics.

All disconnected from the ordinary person. All abstractions, all the time.

I've voted GOP, McCain being the last one. My next vote was for President Trump. I was happy when he won because I didn't think he would.

But I always suspected that the GOP leaders were frauds. The best example is Romney and his Trump is a con/I'd like to be his SoS schtick. They are made of nothing that our Country needs.

The strength of will and mind of President Trump will be historically significant.

And (I'd say we but I'm pretty sure I'm not part of any we) one ought not be convinced that propaganda is as effective as it's reputed to be: People need to survive, to live and the degree to which a person nods his head in quotidian agreement is more likely than not amiable or benign dismissal.

like Colorado, Virginia and Florida," the indictment says.

It
also says the group's employees - referred to as "specialists" -
created social media accounts to look like they were operated by
Americans. They created group pages on Facebook and Instagram with names
like "Secured Borders," "Blacktivist" (to promote the Black Lives
Matter movement), "United Muslims of America," "Army of Jesus," "South
United" and "Heart of Texas."

They also created and controlled
numerous Twitter accounts, like one named "Tennessee GOP" under the
(at)TEN_GOP handle that attracted more than 100,000 followers.

According
to the indictment, the specialists were instructed to post content
online that criticized "Hillary and the rest (except Sanders and Trump -
we support them)."

It said they used pro-Trump, anti-Clinton
hashtags online like "#Trump2016," "#TrumpTrain," "#MAGA,"
"#IWontProtectHillary," and "Hillary4Prison."

Truth be told, spooks in my family, military in my family, good ole Catholic extended family, conservatives do like the soccer.

It's not the soccer. It's the person.

People who have hang-ups with soccer (Not you Ace, I saw your earlier message), have problems that go far beyond a sport played by so many in the US and around the world.

Many of us played it as kids. Many of our kids play it.

It's not the soccer. People who use a sport as a punching bag ain't all there.
Posted by: artisanal 'ette at July 13, 2018 04:58 PM (fceHP)

Eh, if there wasn't such a push to basically try and force Americans to like soccer it wouldn't be a punching bag. It'd almost be like cricket, or rugby or lacrosse. You know, "Oh that's nice that you like that sport," and that's the end of it. But the soccer hate is basically a reaction to the 40 years of "You dumb redneck Americans need to start loving soccer as much as the rest of the world does!"
Posted by: buzzion

I'm quote surprised that not everyone sees the Big Picture. it goes like this:

The Left believes that on a cultural level, if you destroy middle-class (or "bourgeous") values, you can destroy conservativism itself They also beleive that there is a clearly defined set of conservative preferences, which are in direct contrast to left-wing preferences. Their goal, then, is to destroy/discredit/undermine/eliminate the conservative things, even though the things themselves have no political content. if their place, a liberal replacement must be elevated.

They actually think that if they can get everyone to embrace liberal cultural preferences, then liberalism will triumph.

This explains about 75% of what happens in modern culture. Thigns that redneck-Americans like and prefer must be denigrated and banned, and instead things that liberal like must be elevated.

The list of dichotomies is long:

BAD: football --> GOOD: soccer
BAD: cigarettes --> GOOD: marijuana
BAD: internal combustion engine --> GOOD: electric batteries
BAD: country music --> GOOD: rap music
BAD: meat-eating --> GOOD: veganism

etc. etc. etc.

Much of each day's news cycle is the daily report of the Left trying to crush conservative things and elevate liberal things.

The Left has identified soccer as a liberal thing, and football as a conservative thing.

Thus, anyone who publicly virtue-signals their love for soccer is basically dog-whistling that they are a left-winger.

Good points. And *some* on the right fall for it and kneejerk attack just like they say the left does. It's amazing to watch the hypocrisy, but whatever.

Divide and conquer. Some people honestly like soccer and aren't virtue signalling. Ace's characterization of the NeverTrumpers is virtue signalling, which may be true. I'm sure someone like Charles Cooke, if he is a cuck too, always watched soccer because he's a Brit and it's a religion there. But maybe he doesn't.

What the right does at times is exactly what the left does. Tries to shut you down, shut you up if you aren't in the that very narrow lane.

I see soccer as more jobs for America, tbh. I love the sport, but I love most all sports. Played as many sports as I could throughout my life. I love the team spirit and the competition. But this could be a big money maker, and the right are going to hand it to the left and let them carve out another industry in America.

I've heard about five anecdotes from people who've attended NeverTrump confabs (they have about one per week, amazingly enough) that say, explicitly, yes, this is what they believe.

I also hear that these confabs are dominated by people wondering how trump won and why people support him, etc. Still, to this day, they're wondering.

But I think they're wondering RHETORICALLY only. That is, if they were REALLY wondering, they'd have come to some conclusions by now. Their "wondering" is really of the how-dare-they variety.

Wondering how this happened would lead to an assessment of their own failures and the fact that the base just got sick of being conned by them, and would require thinking about how to regain credbility.

But, like the leftwing media who are their best friends and partners-in-crime, they would never, NEVER permit themselves to do any real self-examination.

I'm going to take an unpopular position: I don't think the "NeverTrumpers" were consciously betraying anyone, or trying to fool anyone.

They just lived steeped in Government and Leftism. They never interacted with anyone outside the DC beltway outside of a stunt, so it was easy for them to buy into EVERYONE in their social circle telling them how racist and horrible the average person is. They never questioned the "truths" fed to them by their nice neighbors -- who decorate their homes with Soviet propaganda just as an odd quirk. They would *never* really confront anyone in the media because, well, that would be career limiting.

They let themselves be insulated from reality. Now they're being shown that reality isn't the fantasy world *that was constructed around them*.

A big thing with these people is cutting down conservatives behind their backs. They are always saying "We're not like THOSE OTHER BAD CONSERVATIVES." They're constantly throwing their subscribers and constituents under the bus to ingratiate themselves to their leftist friends.

They really do love the left. The left's opinion means everything to them. They will do practically anything to cultivate the good favor of the left.

On the other hand, of course, they despise the right, and will say so proudly -- when they know the right isn't around to hear.

The only change in Cap'n Bill is now he makes this clear publicly.

I asked them to do a reggae version of Hotel California, and they said, hey that sounds cool, and did it. That said, in a Constitutional monarchy like England, the Queen has no power. I imagine the bowing and scraping was tiresome for the kings when they DID have power. All the more so, now that they don't.

So, they are just doing it to uphold traditions for the sake of Britain's identity. And I can respect that. I bet it's actually a pretty thankless life, even with all the perks.

well, yeah. I've always wondered -- literally, always, from the first year of blogging -- how a conservative party could have so many obvious city-dwellers and liberal-sympathizers in its writer/arguer ranks, and whether this would ultimately result in a rupture.

I have always thought that most culture is simply born into you. You don't choose it. It's born into you.

And these people coming from an urban liberal milleu have urban liberal culture born into them. Even if they pick out three little things to disagree with urban liberals on, the bulk of urban liberal political/social culture is in their bones.

We don't. The time to do something about this was long before the issue ever came up, by giving Putin to understand that he's not dealing with a pantywaist or other weakling, so he'll think twice before crossing you.

Would Putin do that today, with Trump in the White House? No. Because there's no telling what he might do, but whatever it was, you could be pretty sure you weren't going to like it.

But Putin saw that Obama was a weakling, a fey Communist guttersnipe, and treated him accordingly. Just as Khruschev saw JFK as a weak and callow youth - which he was - and decided to try it on by putting nuclear-tipped missles into Cuba.

It is imperative that, when you can, you come down like a ton of bricks on anybody who crosses you, because there will be times when you can't actually do anything, and you want them to think twice about crossing you, even if rationally they know there's nothing you can do. That niggling doubt that they MAY have miscalculated, that there's something you can do that they haven't thought of, and if so, they're fucked, is enough to influence people.

This is pretty much management 101.

Or, maybe, she was afraid he might kiss her. ^.^

I don't imagine Queen Elizabeth is thrilled with what her country has become over her lifetime. Maybe Trump said some stuff that she got a kick out of, like we do. Maybe she too is not thrilled about Brexit not going forward. We don't know, bcz the Queen is the ultimate poker face.

If I try and put myself in her shoes, and remind myself she was active in World War 2, she has been alive almost a full century... I'd like to think she is one of the sane ones.

Prince Harry was caught saying "give Trump a chance", even though Markle is hugely anti-Trump, and Obama is Harry's friend. There's more to the context, but it adds to my belief the Queen may be more pro than anti Trump. Only the 8-ball knows.

516 It's really just a gig for these people. You can see through the way they write. They've never been consistent or intellectually honest.

A lot of people get caught up in the emotion of what they write and prematurely think they are one of the tribe. But if you were one of those people really reading and questioning what they wrote, it often had the whiff of a fraud.

I used to write for another blog years ago, and o frankly got caught up in the moment. I mistakenly assumed most of the people were conservative and steeped in the actual history and writings that form a basis for a conscience decision to join that philosophy.

It wasn't until I met and started to personally communicate with some people more closely that it was clear they were either frauds trying to peddle themselves and gain notoriety or simply people not grounded in intellectual basis- more like caught up in the moment and wanting to be part of it. But that more often then not turned out to be ephemeral and they quickly moved to the next thing which was either trucon or nevertrump. That's when I left. If there is one thing I can't stand it's that type of contra intellectual nonsense.

Nope. They purged theirs from the Party, beginning under GWB but speeding up dramatically during the JEFs reign of error.

Posted by: Calm Mentor at July 13, 2018 05:54 PM (oXwsm)

They haven't touched their neoliberals. In fact, they're still expecting to call the shots in 2020.

Remember how the DNC fixed the primaries for Bernie? Notice how you never hear anything about that now? What's being done to fix it? As far as I can tell, nothing. Which means you can expect similar hijinks in the future. Silicon Valley doesn't want full blown economic socialism because they'll lose their billions to it. They'll throw some weight around about gays and trannies and what have you, but that's all a distraction to keep the hands out of their pockets.

Democrats have a heap of problems and Hillary hanging around is only one of them. They haven't attempted to clean up the mess which means they're behind us. Also there's a dust up coming between the brown waves and the old white leadership of the party. That's going to inflict a lot of casualties on the party, especially if they're kept out of power for the foreseeable future because they won't have access to the Treasury to pay off the factions.

I'm forgetting some other party shattering problems, but they're in big trouble and they haven't done anything to fix the problems as far as I can tell.

526 It was fascinating to be told outright that politicians view Sauron as the good guy in that story.

I wonder how many people didn't understand why Galadriel declined the Ring? Her explanation of why -- that she would seek to do good, and that all would love and fear her -- had to leave lots of left-wingers scratching their heads. That's their fricking *DREAM*.

I think lots of Republican politicians identified more with Saruman -- the other side's so powerful, why not play the game the way they do? Or possibly Denethor -- "we've lost, so why not buy ourselves some time".

527 "This has little to do with Trump, except he was a self-financing option we could turn to in order to express our hatred."

We decided to act like adults and choose the least bad option, at the time, while they continued with their games. It occurred to me at the time that politics was a game to people like Jonah Goldberg because no matter what happens outside the Beltway his job is secure and that of his wife. The rest of America is an abstraction to them, a programming feature in a game.

It hit me like a ton of bricks when I moved to DC to work on Capital Hill in the late 90's. After growing up a true believer, watching the debate shows like Crossfire and then to actually see the sausage being made. None of them believed any of it. The people you saw arguing at each others throats were suddenly best of friends the SECOND the red light went off on the camera. They all left together to go eat and drink and live the good life. Go to the Georgetown / Foggy Bottom bars and they were all together. Dating. Marrying. The James Carville / Mary Matalin thing was the rule, not the exception. I see it here how surprised people are to learn today that these swamp creatures are all married to and screwing each other. The Beltway is instantly corrupting to all principle.

Dude ... you can throw a blanket over all of 'em, with good ol' CS Lewis ...

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

That's people. Give 'em power - that's how they are.

People do choose to embrace or reject a culture, even the one they are in. See: Williamson, K and anyone that re-enlisted.

In other words, voters decided they needed an outsider, and, quite honestly, we did a lot better than we ever expected.
