Mollie Hemingway: 11 Takeaways from the IG Report

BTW: Mollie Hemingway is up on Special Report very soon.

Hemingway's top 11 takeaways from the report. Here are three points:

6. FBI Almost Got Away With Ignoring Clinton Emails On Weiner Laptop

In September 2016, when an investigator in the Southern District of New York found hundreds of thousands of Clinton emails and Blackberry messages on a laptop being searched in relation to an investigation of former Rep. Anthony Weiner, he immediately alerted his supervisors. They alerted the FBI, who sat on the information for weeks, only acting after the New York office complained repeatedly.

By October 3, the case agent assigned to the Weiner investigation expressed concern that the FBI appeared to be sitting on what he’d told them. Later he told the IG:

The crickets I was hearing was really making me uncomfortable because something was going to come crashing dowm... And my understanding, which is uninformed because... I didn't work the Hillary Clinton matter. My understanding at the time was I am telling you people I have private Hillary Clinton emails, number one, and BlackBerry messages, number two. I'm telling you that we have potentially 10 times the volume that Director Comey said we had on the record. Why isn't anybody here?

Like, if I'm the supervisor of any CI squad in Seattle and I hear about this, I'm getting on with headquarters and saying, hey, some agent working child porn here may have [Hillary Clinton] emails. Get your -ss on the phone, call [the case agent], and get a copy of that drive, because that's how you should be. And that nobody reached out to me within, like, that night, I still to this day I don't understand what the hell went wrong.

And I told her, I'm a little scared here. I don’t know what to do because I'm not political. Like I don't care who wins this election, but this is going to make us look really, really horrible. And it could ruin this case, too. And...I said the thing that also bothers me is that Comey's testimony is inaccurate. And as a big admirer of the guy, and I think he's a straight shooter, I wanted to, I felt like he needed to know, like, we got this. And I didn't know if he did.

Although all the relevant information was given to the FBI by September 29, they came back to the agent weeks later to ask questions he'd repeatedly answered. But the FBI agents claimed that the information they learned in late October was new to them. The IG says this is not true: "By no later than September 29, the FBI had learned virtually every fact that was cited by the FBI in late October as justification for obtaining the search warrant for the Weiner laptop."

The FBI claimed that they didn’t take action on the laptop because "1. The FBI Midyear team was waiting for additional information about the contents of the laptop from NYO, which was not provided until late October. 2. The FBI Midyear team could not review the emails without additional legal authority, such as consent or a new search warrant. 3. The FBI Midyear team and senior FBI officials did not believe that the information on the laptop was likely to be significant. 4. Key members of the FBI Midyear team had been reassigned to the investigation of Russian interference in the U.S. election, which was a higher priority."

The IG said these excuses were hogwash, saying that the first was "unpersuasive," the second "illogical," the third "inconsistent" and "insufficient," and the fourth "unpersuasive and concerning." The overarching feeling of the report is that the FBI leaders who handled both the Clinton and Trump probes worked very hard to pretend the Weiner incident didn't happen, only being forced by the New York office's insistence that protocol be followed.

7. Breathtaking Bias

Some FBI defenders latched onto the IG’s claim that he "did not find documentary or testimonial evidence that improper considerations, including political bias, directly affected the specificinvestigative decisions we reviewed." All that means is that none
of the politically biased texts specifically said political bias was leading them to make certain decisions. Of course, that would be a weird thing to find in any case.

What the investigators found, however, was breathtaking anti-Trump and pro-Clinton bias from five of the key employees handling the Clinton email probe. No evidence was found of pro-Trump bias. And this evidence of profound bias is only for those who were foolish enough to record their extreme views. The IG also apparently had no texts from Justice Department officials, perhaps because Justice didn't preserve them.

[A lot of texts omitted -- see the article for the, well, full article -- ace.]

In the preparation to interview Clinton as part of the criminal probe, Page tells a handful of her colleagues to take it easy on Clinton. "One more thing: she might be our next president. The last thing you need us going in there loaded for bear."

After each text exchange, the IG report includes defenses from the agents, some even harder to believe than the previous:

August 8, 2016: In a text message on August 8, 2016, Page stated, "[Trump's] not ever going to become president, right? Right?!" Strzok responded, 'No. No he's not. We’ll stop it.' When asked about this text message, Strzok stated that he did not specifically recall sending it, but that he believed that it was intended to reassure Page that Trump would not be elected, not to suggest that he would do something to impact the investigation.

Sure, hoss.

All five of the FBI employees were referred back to the FBI for disciplinary action.

Hemingway wrote this in a tweet:

This is a maddening aspect of this: You have people in documentary evidence, something inarguable, stuff they wrote which was then recorded in perfect form forever, expressing their insane bias, and then, when asked what they meant by things like "We'll stop him," they say "Oh, by 'We'll stop him,' I only meant that I would adhere to my FBI oath and follow every FBI policy to the letter."

Really? That's what you meant?

Over and over again, these people claim they don't remember having written these things and then claim that they must have meant [insert advice from lawyer on how to lie without getting hit with a perjury charge here].

Oh, is that what you meant to say? Because you picked some very strange words to say what you claim you meant to say.

John Sexton at Hot Air has further examples of this tendency of lawyered-up FBI agents claiming, "Oh, when I said 'I'm... With... Her,' I only meant I was with Lady Justice with her blindfold on to shield her eyes from any political bias."

Now, absent a smoking gun admission of lying, it's hard to prosecute people for lying. It's hard to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.

But the fact that the media (including liberal "Republicans" like Jonathan Last) are claiming "Oh, see, they said 'We'll stop him' just meant 'We'll stop Putin's aggressions' and so that takes care of that!" is... well, it's not unexpected at this point, is it?

Back to Hemingway's article:

8. Clinton Got Breaks, But Some Backfired

While Comey harmed Clinton with how he handled his public announcements about her case, the IG report paints an investigation that was overall quite favorable toward her and her associates. During the Robert Mueller investigation, the federal government has played hardball with Trump associates, ringing them up on false statement charges, raiding their offices, arresting them without warning, and encroaching on attorney-client relationships. For Clinton, a much different approach was taken.

To take just one example, look at the case of Paul Combetta, an employee who handled the migration of Clinton’s email accounts across servers then later deleted the emails. Clinton probe members were sure he was lying about the deletion of the emails in violation of a congressional preservation order. In repeated interviews, he claimed he didn't delete her emails.

The agents had an email where he talked about the "Hilary coverup operation." They decided that wasn’t a big deal. One agent said he believed Combetta should have been charged with "false statements for lying multiple times." But overall they decided it was just so confusing, that the failure to tell the truth was "largely due to a lack of sophistication and poor legal representation." They gave him immunity, and he started singing. He admitted deleting the emails "despite his awareness of Congress's preservation order and his understanding that the order meant that 'he should not disturb Clinton’s email data on the PRN server.'" Sounds nice.

What she's referring to is that Hillary Clinton and her staff got an order from Congress to preserve all records, but Combatta deleted the emails anyway. And then lied about that, until the FBI helpfully gave him immunity for prosecution for defying a lawful order and for lying.

And does this refer to further instances of the immunized-for-no-clear reason Combatta "lying his ass off"?

And see this Kim Strassel thread for more, including a bit about Combatta's Mystery Immunity.

Thought: The press and the liberal Republican wing are very, very worried that Trump will pardon figures associated with him and thereby end prosecutorial threads.

This is a hypoethetical concern (though real).

Meanwhile, there is strong evidence that Loretta Lynch's DOJ and a phalanx of I'm-With-Her FBI agents gave immunity to all of Hillary's flunkies in exchange for nothing -- no "flipping" on the boss, just "here's your immunity, we now have no further leverage on you, even though you committed crimes we could prosecute" -- and the media and liberal wing of the GOP has no problem with that.

The possible hypothetical future issuance of pardons to Trump aides-- very concerning.

The actual proven factual issuance of immunity to Hillary's henchmen -- meh, College Boys With Guns did it so it's all copacetic.

20 Yeah, it's totally normal to give all key actors in the conspiracy immunity, knowing from "early on in the investigation" that you're not going to charge anyone. (as per multiple people, including Comey, who said they knew they 'had nothing' within the first month of the investigation)

The FBI is like "shit, we give out immunity all the time."

31 I'm 300 or so pages in the to the IG report -- two things I've noticed:

1) Comeys team decided VERY early on to limiting the scope of their "investigating" to the non-requirement of "intent" while ignoring multiple laws about mishandling classified information that don't require "intent" (which would be a very fucking weird thing to require, no? We have laws about intending to "mishandle" information -- usually they're treason laws).

So the entire investigation was searching for an email that showed "intent."

Page later says that, actually, the requirement of "gross negligence" was unconstitutionally vague. (tell that to everyone in jail for manslaughter.)

THEN the IG did the same shit

-- their self-defined focus is SO NARROW that it's a nearly impossible standard (a "smoking gun" document that shows a material decision in the investigation was made solely out of political bias. And they accepted the agents after-the-fact explanations for their actions at their fact.)

Maybe some people are looking at this stuff, written down in black and white for the first time, and I guess that means something to them. Fair enough, I reckon'.

For me ? I just didn't see a damn thing that I wasn't already pretty sure was going on. About 99 44/100% sure. Seeing it cataloged in detail just didn't change my point of view. I've spent just about all my outrage.

But I can honestly say - and mean it - that I'm not surprised. I thought we'd get here all the way back - honestly - somewhere in between Ruby Ridge and Oklahoma City.

If folks are starting to see what I see ... great, I guess. Although - even then - if it took this long ?

Well - I dunno'. Could've probably just posted those few words and saved a bunch of bullshit in the middle.

This is one of those annoying things. Comey harmed her, but he was doing everything he could to help her. They had closed the case, and then were undone because Hillary had to have her girlfriend marry a bigger pervert than her own husband, and they were too stupid to delete the e-mails off the perverts computer. They were basically put up against the wall and had to reopen it or it would have probably harmed her even more with Trump being able to accuse the government of trying to fix the election in her favor. And thus closing it as fast as possible. All because Hillary surrounds herself with the worst possessors of XY Chromosomes on the planet.

57 Man. Every time I get in my car, I always have low-level unease over the prospect of getting pulled over for whatever reason and then my life ruined if the cop takes a disliking to me because there is no crime greater than being an American motorist.

And then when I see this crap, this two-tiered system of law (where it applies - viciously - to some and not at all to others), it makes my blood boil. I don't want a revolution but this is how you can easily end up with one. I made this point during the Berkeley riots, too.

When citizens see cops stand by and do nothing when people obviously break the law in really meaningful ways, then they either take the law into their own hands (vigilantism) or decide that the law means nothing and do whatever they hell they want (lawlessness). Or they embrace the power of and.

Regardless, it is how you bring about the destruction of civil society and potentially even your polity. We *need* a restoration of the rule of law if we have any hope of survival. The more people see the law not applying to everyone equally, the more likely vigilantism and lawlessness become. I desperately hope enough people in power realize this and can reverse course in time.

idk, I'm trying to read through it before I read too many opinion pieces on what I just read. I'm like 300 pages in, I hope it ends soon.

BUT, I have to say -- while it's written very lawerly, I kind of think whoever wrote it has a very dry sense of humor and is saying "get a load of this bullshit" a lot when I read between the lines. But that could just be in my mind.

There are little things though -- like quoting Agent 1 and Agent 5's "I'm with her" cutsie flirty text messages then putting in a foot note that says "I'm with her was one of Hillary Clintons campaign slogans."

Like I said, could be nothing -- but I chuckled when I read that.

For the reporter, she is thinking that all men are easily manipulated and putting sex on the table is what gets them to spill their inside info. That's the way it works in the movies.

This is a maddening aspect of this: You have people in documentary evidence,

what they meant by things like "We'll stop him," they say "Oh, by
'We'll stop him,' I only meant that I would adhere to my FBI oath and
follow every FBI policy to the letter."
From Me:
Except they didn't follow everything to the letter. Every time a FBI DOJ protocol was broken (Hello Loretta Lynch meeting the target of an investigation on a secret tarmac meeting in Arizona) it broke in Chlamydia Thundershart's favor. So no, they kissed her taint instead.

Is there one instance that they can point to where they were hard on her at all (cough Cheryl Mills who manged the destruction of data, sitting in on The Bollard Queen's tea with the FBI cough)

They were basically put up against the wall and had to reopen it or it would have probably harmed her even more with Trump being able to accuse the government of trying to fix the election in her favor. 134 115 Simple solution:
1. Decimate - in the truest possible Roman sense - the entire bureau from Director to janitorial staff.2. Fire the survivors.3. Rehire them at half prior pay.4. Decimate them again.5. Fire the survivors.6. Rehire them at half prior half-pay.Repeat as necessary until the last nine standing get the message.

Super Agent Peter Strozk, who was, if I'm not mistaken, a pretty high up
counter-intel Super Agent was having an affair. And no I don't give a
rat's ass about the actual affair but I do give a rat's ass about the
intelligence, IQ-wise, of a Super Smart, Patriotic, Country loving,
Counter-Intel Agent not realizing that he could be...oh, ...I don't
know...LIKE FUCKING MAYBE COMPROMISED BY THE FACT HE WAS HAVING AN AFFAIR?
I
didn't go to super secret smart FBI school or anything but it's just a
thought that occurs to me. And he's going to save my country?

I don't know...am I missing something here...or overblowing it? Back in the service if an officer got caught in an adulterous relationship he'd get disciplined - court martialed most times or offered resignation but it wasn't a morality witch hunt on the Army's part IMO. It was mainly to punish bad judgement and bad decision making.

Do you think he is happy that he, his family and friends were spied on, tried to have his presidency stolen and then ended on fraudulent information? Do you think he is unaware of what is going on or forgotten that Admiral Mike Rogers warned him all this was happening in the fall of 2016?

When all other possibilities are exhausted, look for the most obvious. Ockams razor.

Posted by: JackStraw at June 15, 2018 06:29 PM (/tuJf)

188 Doesn't matter. This is what happened. Report documents absolute improper behavior by FBI and Justice Dept. Report shows obvious unmistakable political bias etc.

BUT, a political hack wrote the summary ignoring all of that, and every denying it occurred so the press could carry the water and repeat it over and over again...Which they continue to do. And, if that wasn't enough. Mueller coordinates an arrest of Mannafort to time with the report release and the press does their job of making it the story of the day.

Trump and company were totally outplayed...and extremely over matched. And, it's their own fault for not just sweeping clean the Executive government officers upon taking office. No reason, no consideration...just voiding them from the game.

208 >>Meanwhile, there is strong evidence that Loretta Lynch's DOJ and a phalanx of I'm-With-Her FBI agents gave immunity to all of Hillary's flunkies in exchange for nothing -- no "flipping" on the boss, just "here's your immunity, we now have no further leverage on you, even though you committed crimes we could prosecute" -- and the media and liberal wing of the GOP has no problem with that.

yes, the immunity deals should be publicized by whatever noncucks that are out there.

And, good point, the presidental pardon is a counterweight to this insane immunity power.

Inspector General Horowitz did not recover all of the missing Strzok to Page text messages from the critical December 15, 2016 to May 17, 2017 period. He has not said what portion of the texts are still missing, nor why they went 'missing' in the first place. The 'why' would be just as important as the messages themselves because it can establish intent to conceal the effects of bias.

Horowitz did not obtain any text messages from DoJ prosecutors involved in Hillary's email 'matter', so we know nothing of their biases. Were the subordinates of Lynch, Yates, and Orr unbiased?

Horowitz also did not obtain any emails from Strzok's Gmail account, which was referenced for further information in several Strzok to Page text messages.

Now, about these ugly chicks. There's SCIENCE! there. That's the magic of oxytocin. Every time you, uh, "leak", you get an oxytocin hit, and that makes you think the chick that you're leaking with is hotter.

So, ugly chick gets you off enough, and she starts looking pretty good. Oxytocin, it's a hell of a hormone. It's one of the tricks that makes the male get more monogamous.

278 I enjoyed the new show LA To Vegas.

Partly because the 2 female leads were fucking hot as ballz.

Will Ferrell actually helped make a funny show.

Yeah, it was so funny it's been cancelled. And Ferrell was an Executive Producer. That means they just wanted him for his money. Money can be funny. Will Ferrell, not so much.

What Trump can do as President is different than what he can get away with in the media. That is why Trump doesn't seem to be doing anything right now. He is waiting for public opinion to get fed up with the democrats and their allies in the media, and the activists who want to riot.

When enough people get fed up with that, then Trump has some leverage. When enough people get fed up with the GOP and start replacing sitting Senators and Representatives, then Trump has some leverage. Trump can't do any of this by himself.

FBI Employee: "Would be funny if he was the only guy charged n this deal"

Agent 1: "I know. For 1001. Even if he said the truth and didnt have a clearance when handling secure fax - aint noone gonna do shit."

You know what "1001" is? That's USC 1001 - False statements. You know, the thing that Mueller has been charging people under in the Russia Collusion sham.

Here we have an FBI agent who has a witness KNOWINGLY LYING to the FBI and nothing. No charges. No heavy hand of government coming down on him, destroying his life, costing him his home, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees. NOT A DAMN THING.

Because he was in the right tribe.

I want the cucks to defend THIS violation of USC 1001/lying to the FBI and why it "just doesn't matter" as compared to all the people charged with USC 1001 by Mueller.

304 Comey had a plan for the Clinton investigation from the start, I believe. He assigned picked, favored HQ agents and staff lawyers to lead the investigation. He knew how they approached and did their jobs, and he had to know what their political beliefs were.

Those are the same reasons why he picked those same people to work on the Trump-Russia crap as soon as he could. And gee, isn't it a coincidence that the Trump-Russia crap started to get hot in the FBI as soon as the Hillary email "investigation" ended?

That Comey had a plan for the Hillary caper is clear based on when he started planning for his Comey-only public statement about the results of of the investigation and HIS prosecution or not recommendation. He started discussing that with McCabe, Stzrok, and Page in May 2016, IIRC from the IG report, long before the Lynch-Bill Clinton airport meeting in Phoenix. Why? Lynch hadn't "recused" herself by May 2016 had she?

Going balls deep on 'deprivation of rights under color of law' is always an option since day one.

Half of Americans aren't interested enough to even vote, half that do are 'non-partisan'. Those that have a politics fetish are at the extreme. Half of those read AoS, the other half worked for DoJ / FIB and had regular meetings on exonerating Hillary and framing Trump.

The facts in the AG report speak for themselves - conspiracy to use influence of their office(s) to influence/rig the election for Hillary and then disenfranchise those that voted for Trump.

It's worse than treason.

Don't go for big charge. Add up all the small ones.

318 In the preparation to interview Clinton as part of the criminal probe, Page tells a handful of her colleagues to take it easy on Clinton. "One more thing: she might be our next president. The last thing you need us going in there loaded for bear."

1. Those colleagues are Special Agents of the FBI. So are Strzok, McCabe, et. al.

2. Special Agents take the following oath: "I, ______, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."

It's become apparent that some Special Agents have interpreted the words "I will bear true faith & allegiance to the same" as meaning their true faith & allegiance is to foreign & domestic enemies, NOT to the Constitution.

Someone should remind 'em what The Job's all about. Preferably before these agents leave the administrative hearing room, carrying their boxes filled with personal items from their desks.

Or as they enter Federal prison. Whichever, or both. Das macht nichts.

Lather, rinse, repeat.
