McCabe Suspected Rosenstein Was Part of RUSSIA Plot to Fire Comey; Wrote His Own Memo About It, Which He (Of Course) Gave to Meuller

The former acting F.B.I. director, Andrew G. McCabe, wrote a confidential memo last spring recounting a conversation that offered significant behind-the-scenes details on the firing of Mr. McCabe’s predecessor, James B. Comey, according to several people familiar with the discussion.

Mr. Comey’s firing is a central focus of the special counsel’s investigation into whether President Trump tried to obstruct the investigation into his campaign’s ties to Russia. Mr. McCabe has turned over his memo to the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III.

In the document, whose contents have not been previously reported, Mr. McCabe described a conversation at the Justice Department with the deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, in the chaotic days last May after Mr. Comey’s abrupt firing. Mr. Rosenstein played a key role in the dismissal, writing a memo that rebuked Mr. Comey over his handling of an investigation into Hillary Clinton.

But in the meeting at the Justice Department, Mr. Rosenstein added a new detail: He said the president had originally asked him to reference Russia in his memo, the people familiar with the conversation said. Mr. Rosenstein did not elaborate on what Mr. Trump had wanted him to say.

To Mr. McCabe, that seemed like possible evidence that Mr. Comey’s firing was actually related to the F.B.I.’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia, and that Mr. Rosenstein helped provide a cover story by writing about the Clinton investigation.

What Trump almost certainly asked for was for Rosenstein to say, as Comey had told him three (3) times, that he was not under investigation in the Russia matter.

Comey told him that three times, but then leaked or implied otherwise to the media.

This was probably because he had agreed to undermine Trump with Brennan and Obama -- in the infamous "By the Book" meeting -- and tell Trump as little as possible about the investigation.

This memo shows how paranoid and out-to-get Trump these people were. McCabe was seeing Russians under his bed.

if the guy who did The Big Short wasn't an awful commie lib, he'd really do this justice.

48 JackStraw, exactly my first reaction - McCabe knew all of the "Russia!" stuff was crap, and/or FBI/CIA provocation, so - even this unimportant new "scoop" doesn't make sense, even in its own terms.

But most amusing is the concept of a "cover story" for firing Comey. As if one were needed. Rosie's Comey memo was mediocre, and showed a lack of depth or skill on his part - lots of "testimonial" evidence for dismissing Comey, which is weak-sauce, and especially since lots of people with dubious records of their own were cited.

But Comey's dereliction in the Espionage/Federal Records Acts "investigation" and shut-down was obvious, spectacular, and unlike anything in US history. Duh.

84 Simple, Trump asked Rosenstein to cite that Trump was not under investigation for colluding with Russia as Cryin' Comey had told him on 3 separate occassions.

Rosenstein wrote the fire Comey memo but didn't include that
McCabe, later and without detail says that Rosenstein told him that Trump wanted him to "reference Russia" (as in Trump wasn't under investigation). McCabe wanted to create an "obstruction of justice" scenario where Trump ASKED Rosenstein to not investigate Russia instead of just tell the truth that Trump himself wasn't under investigation.

McCabe would also liked to have had Rosenstein recused as well which would have thrown the power into the bureaucracy---Bruce Orr.

It's probably too late in your case by now, but I have learned through experience that applying ice cubes to the burn as quickly as possible after it happens actually works spectacularly, and prevents any later blistering or scarring, and facilitates much quicker healing, and very rapid pain diminuation. But the sooner you apply to ice the better -- within seconds, if possible. But it's still somewhat effective for several minutes, up to half an hour after the burn, with the ameliorative effects lessening with each passing minute.

Short version: Put ice directly on the burn.

Posted by: dagny

The medical recommendation against ice is to prevent people from putting super-cold hard not-yet-melted ice on the burn, which might cause the flesh to stick to the ice and damage it more. But under realistic household conditions, if you just take a random ice cube out of the freezer and maybe run it under the sink for one second to dampen it first, then it can't and won't exacerbate the injury. I've tried it many times over the years and found the immediate application of (damp) ice to the wound is almost like a miracle cure. Various times I've gotten burns that normally WOULD have taken a looongg time to heal and caused a lootttt of pain, but the ice trick rendered them painless and harmless and quick-healing almost immediately. I think it works to actually reverse the burn damage to the cells, by quickly enabling fluids to re-enter the ruptured skin cells. Or something like that.

Yes, Carson was accused by the MSM of spending too much money on office furniture, and for about a week they were howling about it and demanding he be burned at the stake. Trump ignored them.

What is significant is that now it's come out that McCabe spent far MORE on office furniture than Carson did, and the MSM have gone into full cover-up/kill the story mode.

The story about Carson was never about money. He is a black guy who supported Trump, so they had to try to destroy him.

The thing I don't like about Rosenstein, it's been said that he signed off on the FISA warrants allowing the investigation of Carter Page. And he seems like he should have recused himself from all this, as he wrote the memo to Trump justifying the firing of Comey, and Comey's leaking of the confidential memos to his friend (now his legal counsel) was the basis for the need for an independent counsel. Just seems like too many conflicts of interest on Rosenstein's part.

He did. But think about that. He signed off on it last fall well after information started coming out showing the whole thing was a scam.

The warrant wasn't taken to spy on Page, it was taken to spy on Trump and his campaign. It makes no sense to me.

When I see things like that that make no sense I've got to believe there was another reason or Rosenstein is dumber than a bag of hammers.

That is a pattern of deceit scapegoating others for his illegal actions.

I find it amazing what protection whistle blowers don't have in the face of an agency and a state that is more concerned with burying problems than solving them. Especially when the union, the management, and the judges are all cooperating to make the dishonor AND the whistle-blower go away.

The good news for the budget is after you work a whistle-blower over for a year or so, bring them up on disciplinary charges and reviews and make them spend their life savings being upright and honest, make sure they are ostracized by the "real team players" they usually will accept about an 80% on their pension for the small job of shutting up and never showing their noses out of their holes again.

Posted by: boulder t'hobo at May 30, 2018 09:53 PM (6FqZa)

440 I mean, this is so post-modern. The office of the AG is supposed--as detailed in the Federalists--to advise the President on legal matters. That's its role.

So Trump wants to fire Comey and gets legal advice, and McCabe *suspected* that Trump might do that....you know...get legal advice from the Deputy Attorney General...you know...like the founders *thought* the President would.

And he fiendishly uses this advice that the President has some cause to fire the FIB Director, to *fire* the FIB Director according to his sovereign powers over the executive.

But the dazed still want to play this up as "suspicious".

Signing a personal signature on an international agreement and sending pallets of cash as part of Obama's *personal* agreement ....that's not what we're talking about as suspicious. Selling access to 20% of the US Uranium... that's also not what we're talking about as "suspicious".

That the President might not have had a clean soul when he fired a guy he had the power to fire...that's what's suspicious.

That's about the only power I have absent killing somebody.

473 Apparently I've been waaaaaay out of the loop for too long. I took a look at the dates and I see a 2 night stand at Alpine Valley this summer. As a former Wisconsin boy, I've always kinda looked at that as the ultimate venue for the Dead.

479 452 You guys I refer you to Ace's rules concerning threats of violence and personal insults. Too much of both on this thread.
Posted by: That's the way, uh huh uh huh at May 30, 2018 09:59 PM (UdKB7)

-------

I wasn't threatening any violence, just pointing out the very limited choices available to the average citizen.

Those choices are so limited (either jury nullification, voting, or killing), that it makes it almost a requirement of those with other choices and options (such as whistleblowing) to exercise them. This is doubly so for people that have taken an oath of office to protect the Constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic. To refuse to exercise that obligation because there is not enough "whistleblower protection" seems to me to be an act of cowardice akin to desertion on the battlefield.

That's been my opinion since day one on the matter.

Note, I'm not asking people in the FBI without firsthand information to do anything, but surely those good guys in bureau must see the damage being done by their silent comrades.

480 443:

"If I were to serve on a jury and a FBI agent testified I would have to consider his testimony a straight up lie. You can thank all the corrupt leadership and spineless underlings for that."

This, really. A federal defense attorney should insist on a jury trial given what has become of the Bureau's reputation. To be fair, that could be any federal agency/agent.

Of course, a Hawaiian federal district judge eventually will find there is no constitutional right to a jury.
