Fuck the NFL up the squeak hole with a pineapple! Those who choose to stay in the locker room until after the Anthem will be booed, as they should. I suggest that the NFL should have made it clear that ALL players WILL stand on the sidelines, helmet off and under left arm, right hand over heart. Failure to comply will result in fines of a minimum of $100,000 per occurrence. The team should be fined minimum $500,000 per player, per occurrence. This will put an end to the nonsense.

If they had moved to keep all players in the locker rooms and have honor guards for the anthem starting two seasons ago when the kneeling BS started that might have kept me viewing them sporadically. This is too little too late, and I will not be surprised if some owners announce they are bearing the fines to support their players' rights to free speech. I don't think though the NFL ever comes to where it was like 5 years ago. It's not all politics, it's a lot of cord cutting and Fantasy Football just doesn't have as wide appeal.
The way the player and owners conducted themselves really did alienate a large swath of the population. Most sports fans are white, them seeing a large amount of blacks essentially wipe their ass on the American flag did not do anyone any favors, especially when you're then asking these fans for $500 for shitty seats to a game. Plus, as corporate America has gone SJW, the owners have let the players show their thug colors and outside of a real urban audience, it just doesn't sell. Like it. They are blessed because of the US. Let them play in the Iranian League and see how that goes.
_____________________ I'd rather let them play in the countries of their ancestors, countries like Congo, Zaire, Angola, Nigeria, Cameroon, Senegal, Ghana, etc. How much money do you think they'd make in those leagues? What kind of mac-mansions could they build to live in there? How many car dealerships or restaurants could they invest in there? All these "protesters" should be forced to live for at least 5 years in the land they would be living in had their ancestors not been brought here. Maybe then they'd appreciate just how incredibly stupid they are to complain about how awful and raaaaaacist the U.S. is, and how bad they have it here. And when they come back, which they all will, they should be forced to study the government crime statistics that prove that all the bullshit they've been fed -- and gullibly accepted as absolute truth -- about how raaaaaacist the U.S. is, is total MSM-created crap. And if they can't pass the quiz on the material at the end of their study period, then they have to go back to Angola, Ghana, Senegal, whatever, and remain there permanently. This seems dumb as rocks at first hand. If the point of all this was to "solve" something, I am just not seeing it. If a team stays in the locker room, they are de facto protesting. If they come out and someone kneels they are fined. Who thinks the lefty teams like Seattle wont pay that fine or have a go fund me to pay the fine?
I am not seeing a resolution. Off hand, I would say just let people do what they do, like last year and let the chips fall where they may. That makes more sense unless I am missing something here. If the organization comes up with a "fix" that doesn't not fix anything, do they not just make things worse? The NFL is becoming less and less relevant to me that is for sure. The Judge's ruling is that Twitter is a Public Forum.
If that is so, then Twitter's policy of shadow-banning various posters based on content, not to mention overt banning, is blatantly illegal. Twitter's defense is that they do NOT host a public forum, therefore they can do whatever they want. I imagine the lawsuit against Twitter is already being put together. They tackle more like the old Dick Butkis types, shoulder in and leg drive. None of this blowing up the play by using your body like a cannon ball. I was thinking more of an injunction forcing twitter to allow accounts of banned individuals who want to follow their POTUS.
THis actually is defensible in the spurious logic of the judge. Oh, the NFL.
What happens when a MAJORITY of the team want to stay in the locker room, and maybe only 10 or 12 want to come out for the Anthem? Think they will? My guess is no. There was a guy that had been an Army Reserve Captain on the Steelers, and on a particular Sunday last year, he was the only one on the team that came out for the Anthem. And he eventually had to repent to his teamates for that particular social sin. I don't know. I may watch the occassional game if I am home, it's raining, I'm bored to tears, etc., etc. So then again, probably not. Looking at the big picture with these protests, remember that these were all part of "THE RESISTANCE!!!" It was a coordinated effort - the media was supposed to flood the country with RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA! stories, leading to widespread disgust with Trump, and the Dems and the Never Trumpers were supposed to unite and stop Trump cold in the Congress, and the Court's were supposed to kill all of his Executive Orders, and minions out in the culture were supposed to lead university demonstrations and ruin sports games and generally just act up everywhere they could.
On paper, that looked like a Real Good Plan. They forgot one thing - just like the Japanese in 1941, they had no staying power. They had to win within 6 months, or they were finished. I think even the Japanese understood this, but these progressive clowns never did, which is why they have no plans whatsoever for dealing with the counterattack Trump is now launching. Their entire plan of battle was based on the assumption that their would never be any counterattack. Bad Plan. Posted by: Tom Servo at May 23, 2018 01:56 PM (k1TUh) 291

Here's the take away from this new policy. The NFL along with most of the lefty sports media (BIRM) all of last year denied, over and over, that the protests had any effect on their business. They insisted that audience and advertising and revenue were not falling, or in instances when they admitted that they were falling, they said it was because of the elections, or the economy, or the weather. It was NEVER because of the anthem protests.
This new policy is proof that, yes, they most certainly did recognize a big drop in fandom and money and it was directly due to people turning off games because of the protests. They would not be doing this if the opposite were true. Posted by: Agent Cooper at May 23, 2018 01:57 PM (oyCqX) 301

This change is merely a cosmetic PR move. It was already a league rule that players were to stand for the national anthem, but the NFL decided to not enforce it last year. I guess the loss of money made them realize how dimwitted they were being and they decided to pretend to enact a new policy. The only thing new (from a brief scan) is that players can now be fined. Who cares? They could have been fined in the past for violating league rules. This is ONLY designed to bring back the customers they lost.

There was a Peter Ustinov movie many years ago, about a Mexican General who takes his scruffy little unit across the border and recaptures the Alamo. A hilarious movie, actually, pity it seems to have disappeared off any playlists. One of the memorable things about the film is when the reason for his "invasion" comes out, Max reveals that he was arguing with his mistress back in Mexico, trying to impress her with his importance, and she told him that his men wouldn't follow him into a whorehouse. This wasn't a problem until the NFL agreed to broadcast the anthems after 9/11 (a request from the govt.). Easiest way to fix this is to stop broadcasting it. No audience, the problem will go away; none of them are principled enough to keep doing it when no one can see it. The NFL controls how the games are broadcast, they can make this happen if they want.

That means libs got to stop ABUSING "Rule of law" "the Constitution", and probably every single word that describes America as a planned system of governance. Also they don't get to say "Department of Justice independence" because the Justice Department is a Department of what?? The Cabinet. Which is led by who?? That would be the President, dipshits. So when they say "independent Department of Justice" they're not talking about any "department" people who can read and understand words would be talking about. But that really shows the tell. "New rules" by the left never have any sort of mutual intent. It's not like I can stop you from using words I don't want you to use, and you can stop me. I think they said the spoon in the underwear was supposed to set off the metal detectors, and then the girl would be escorted away to a private location where she would not be overheard by the muzzie minder traveling with her, so she could spill her guts to LE about all his abuse without having to worry that he would later beat/rape/torture/ kill her.
Of course, once the minder sees LE coming to arrest him, he's going to know exactly who squealed, and he'll probably make sure that the girl gets it sooner or later. Posted by: TrivialPursuer, Tall Imperial Majesty . . . at May 23, 2018 02:24 PM (fqUgw) See, this spoon in the skivvies shit is a classic example of what I'm talking about above. It's a technical solution to a personnel problem. The problem is that the Muzzies are murderous swine. They need to be dealt with - on a people level - accordingly. I.e., harshly. Sticking a spoon in your shorts so metal detectors will find you so you can blub to some social worker is NOT a solution, and will NOT work. Guaranteed. Before the whole kneeling to shit on the Flag controversy broke out, I used to take an interest in the playoffs and in the superbowl. I would also watch the occasional regular season game if it was supposed to be a clash between two powerhouse teams with good records. I enjoyed watching the Patriots win. And I especially enjoyed watching Tom Brady dominate. Even though Trump has forced the NFL to genuflect on this issue and put in place a good policy against the flag-shitters: I will NOT be returning to my prior habit of watching the playoffs, etc. I was never a hardcore fan. But I did tune in now and then to see a good game. Now, I am done with the NFL. Posted by: Cold Civil War at May 23, 2018 02:29 PM (Z2PYk) 495

Aussie rules football is great, definitely a good alternative if you can find it.
But MLB is pretty good about avoiding politics, and severely hammered people who tried to kneel. They have annoying and stupid rule changes each year, but other than the pink gear for mother's day (to remind people of breast cancer, as if anyone is unaware of it), they avoid the rest. Let's begin with my primary criticism of the NFL: The standard of play is terrible and has been on a downward trajectory for 20 years or so. The offenses are generic and unimaginative and the coaching tree is totally incestuous. Example: Norv Turner replaced Mike Shula as the offensive coordinator for Carolina this offseason. A more meaningless change is hard to imagine. Plus, Norv is 66 and has been an NFL coach since 1985. WOOO NEW BLOOD!
Second, Roger Goodell is a metaphor for everything wrong with American business and political leadership. Risk averse ninny, but still without respect for the past. He overexposed his product and refuses to admit that it is overexposed (see Thursday Night Football). He is also part of the cabal that ignored all the head trauma evidence for years. Man, I can't stand him. Third, vapid empty gestures are everywhere on the left and the entire kneeling episode only enraged the league's core audience. Want to do something about police violence? Try sending a message to the inner city that just maybe some of their problems are of their own making. Oh, hello, Kanye. Posted by: Circa (Insert Year Here) at May 23, 2018 02:45 PM (Boy/L) 576

Without sanctions on the players it's all phony. And the fans will know it and continue boycotting. Plus this doesn't address the continue lean to the left and the destruction of the game. First, I didn't suggest sending them ALL back. I suggested sending back the football players who kneel, because such behavior indicates a clear need for educational instruction of the kind that can only be obtained by harsh example.
Second, I clearly said that they'd go back for a period of 5 years, after which they would return -- hopefully with a much fuller understanding of how very, very fortunate they are to be living in these United States. Hmmm... I didn't hear an Apology from the NFL, did I? If Roger Goodell went on the air and openly admitted that the NFL was deeply ashamed of its role as enabler, and condemned the actions of the protesters while simultaneously respecting their right to their opinions - and thus allowing them to stay off of the field in the future... In a nutshell:
(1) They told you FU to your face, 50 times. (2)They never even apologized (but it's been too late for that for a LOOOONG time, anyway). (3) But now that they say they're going to say FU behind your back INSTEAD, they expect that everything will be OK. (4) Besides that being F-ing clueless, this rule is WORSE THAN MEANINGLESS, because ... (5) The NFL will NEVER put a meaningful punishment behind it. So... (6) It will be violated, practically at will. Which MEANS ... (7) While it's propaganda to try to bring some viewers back, it's really just a vehicle to grant the perps more attention-getting martyrdom. ( ![]() (9) Really, it's just ammo for the Leftist propaganda machine. They'll say, "We met their demands, but they're still upset, because they're really just racists."
