Even taking politics out of the equation, I think professional sports in general are incredibly stupid. I'm a casual fan, but the people that build their lives around it and throw all sorts of money going to games, cable packages, jerseys, etc. are sort of pathetic in my opinion.

There was some weird, complex stuff about this several months ago. There was a coalition of black players trying to pressure the owners into donating to an umbrella group of causes presided over by an organization run by Van Jones.
Then it turned out that the owners were cutting donations to other causes they had supported (like breast cancer research) in order to fund this. That caused a schism in the black coalition with some agreeing, and others accusing them on making secret deals with the owners and not requiring them to continue to support their existing causes while donating to Van Jones. I'm not sure how that turned out or if it had any effect on this current policy.

The way the player and owners conducted themselves really did alienate a large swath of the population. Most sports fans are white, them seeing a large amount of blacks essentially wipe their ass on the American flag did not do anyone any favors, especially when you're then asking these fans for $500 for shitty seats to a game.
Plus, as corporate America has gone SJW, the owners have let the players show their thug colors and outside of a real urban audience, it just doesn't sell.

Then it turned out that the owners were cutting donations to other causes they had supported (like breast cancer research) in order to fund this. That caused a schism in the black coalition with some agreeing, and others accusing them on making secret deals with the owners and not requiring them to continue to support their existing causes while donating to Van Jones. I'm not sure how that turned out or if it had any effect on this current policy.

First, I didn't suggest sending them ALL back. I suggested sending back the football players who kneel, because such behavior indicates a clear need for educational instruction of the kind that can only be obtained by harsh example.

I don't know what the head injury rate is in Aussie football is, but it you watch them play, (no helmets) these guys don't lead with their head or use there bodies like projectiles. They tackle more like the old Dick Butkis types, shoulder in and leg drive. None of this blowing up the play by using your body like a cannon ball.
Helmets and shoulder pads are causing the concussion trauma.

THis actually is defensible in the spurious logic of the judge. She is drawing a line between private and public, saying a public official is different than a private person and cannot silence people who want to talk to them, so arguments that Twitter does bad things don't carry any water in this setting.
But arguing that Twitter is cutting off access to public officials... that one would work.

There was a guy that had been an Army Reserve Captain on the Steelers, and on a particular Sunday last year, he was the only one on the team that came out for the Anthem. And he eventually had to repent to his teamates for that particular social sin.
I don't know. I may watch the occassional game if I am home, it's raining, I'm bored to tears, etc., etc.
So then again, probably not.
As someone said above (Maritime?) this obsession with sports is actually pretty childish. I have better things to do with my time.

Before the whole kneeling to shit on the Flag controversy broke out, I used to take an interest in the playoffs and in the superbowl. I would also watch the occasional regular season game if it was supposed to be a clash between two powerhouse teams with good records.
I enjoyed watching the Patriots win. And I especially enjoyed watching Tom Brady dominate.
Even though Trump has forced the NFL to genuflect on this issue and put in place a good policy against the flag-shitters: I will NOT be returning to my prior habit of watching the playoffs, etc.
I was never a hardcore fan. But I did tune in now and then to see a good game.
Now, I am done with the NFL.

Some matches last five days. Others are decided not by the score, but by the rate of scoring. Batsmen can (in effect) foul off every pitch that they don't like, and only run when they feel like it.
You can see where some tweaks could cheer up this game a lot.

He overexposed his product and refuses to admit that it is overexposed (see Thursday Night Football). He is also part of the cabal that ignored all the head trauma evidence for years. Man, I can't stand him.
Third, vapid empty gestures are everywhere on the left and the entire kneeling episode only enraged the league's core audience. Want to do something about police violence? Try sending a message to the inner city that just maybe some of their problems are of their own making. Oh, hello, Kanye.

As for spoons in underwear - I skimmed the article but not in detail. It's because of the rise in Swedish women being whisked out of the country against their will as captive brides to men from the religion of peace.
