Good Morning Morons; today is Saturday, March 24, 2018. On this day in 1989 the Exxon Valdez ran aground in Prince William Sound in Alaska spilling 240,000 barrels of crude oil. It became one of the biggest media hype events of all time. Econazis predicted the sound would be uninhabitable for literally thousands of years. If you visit it now it is a pristine environment teaming with wildlife.

Kansas City politicians are seeking a 'cause' and the are file criminal charges over a tragic accident in a water park. The standard for charges such as this require you to prove that the perpetrator was aware of an unjustifiable risk associated with the events that led to the death AND that a death was directly caused by that unjustifiable risk. It doesn't seem to me that they have that here. I suspect money grubbing lawfare here. Sure in this case civil tort can be used to bankrupt the operators and owners of this water park but no criminal charges are warranted. http://tinyurl.com/y9rprny7 Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at March 24, 2018 05:55 AM (mpXpK) 6

Regarding Mexico...Seems as if a US family of 4 was found dead.
Americans exercise "increased caution" throughout the country. WHAT HAPPENED: Creston resident Kevin Wayne Sharp, 41, his wife, Amy Marie Sharp, 38, and their children, Sterling Wayne Sharp, 12, and Adrianna Marie Sharp, 7, were found dead in a condominium, police said. There have been conflicting reports about where, exactly, they were staying. Authorities have also not said how the family died. A report from Mexico's attorney general said violence was not suspected. Results from autopsies were pending. Posted by: Bruce at March 24, 2018 06:25 AM (8ikIW) 30

From the Mexico story...
Last month, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published an investigation that identified more than 150 reports from travelers who said they blacked out or became violently ill after having just one or two drinks at dozens of Mexican resorts in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Puerta Vallarta and Los Cabos. It's unclear whether those tourists were deliberately drugged or became random victims of tainted alcohol, according to the investigation. Posted by: Bruce at March 24, 2018 06:29 AM (8ikIW) 32

Maybe if we all comment enough on a blog it will make a difference. Irony / sarcasm appreciated. But, it is a sad truth that increasing the volume on talk radio, the blogs, etc. rarely translates into votes on election day. America lost yesterday because there are simply not enough Republican votes to end the filibuster rule. It is that simple. Suppose he had vetoed the spending bill? What then? Does any serious person really believe the Swamp would have run up the white flag? They would have doubled down and forced him to sign an even worse spending bill. The filibuster was originally created to protect the slave power. Now, it protects the big government power. Posted by: Call me Ishmael at March 24, 2018 07:19 AM (9X60i) 61

You can fit the new Ruger 9mm Carbine easily in a back pack. It is a take down rifle and can use the Glock magazines. They have a 33 round mag that will fit in it. 4 or 5 of those and the carbine itself would easily fit in the typical kids pack.

Good morning, Horde!
It's March 24, and my memory goes back to the weekend of March 23-25, 1996. Comet Hale-Bopp had been discovered while it was inbound, and was predicted to be a bright naked-eye comet in 1997. But in January 1996, Japanese astronomer Yuji Hyakutake spotted another faint comet. It was quickly determined to be heading almost directly for Earth, and for that one weekend in March, it stole the show from Hale-Bopp. It was high overhead and absolutely dominated the night sky. I drove miles to a dark country site, spread out a blanket, and just lay there drinking it in. I froze my ass off, but it was worth it to see a comet like I had read about in history books. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comet_Hyakutake That photo doesn't do it justice.
