The McCain Associate Who Delivered the "Steele" Dossier to the FBI Hoped to Blackmail Trump out of the Election

"Blackmail" is my word -- but what would you call it?

When you tell someone you have information over them and that therefore they must do something they otherwise wouldn't do -- well, that's blackmail, isn't it?

Or a "friendly advisory"? Doesn't seem so friendly though.

What a crew are these.

It really doesn't matter. We *know* that Steele told the FBI he hadn't revealed any of it to the press, but we also know that Michael Issikoff says he was the source for an earlier Yahoo News article.

It also doesn't matter because as Andy McCarthy has been more than pointing out, almost all of it is 2nd-hand to 3rd-hand *hearsay*. And the FBI you wanted to use Steele's dossier should have established that Steele's *buddy* was reliable. It doesn't matter how reliable Steele is when he's reporting hearsay.

We STILL don't have a gpod name for this scandal.

"Deep State Gate" is, well, lame.

"The Entire Liberal Establishment Is Fundamentally Corrupt to an Extreme Degree" is quite accurate, but too wordy.

But without a catchy scandal name, it all becomes a murky mess.

Furthermore, every day a new rock is turned over and a new grotesque villain is exposed, so the focus of the scandal is constantly shifting.

202 To be straight for a sec, the problem with Steel and Aluminum is that the world is overflowing with it - dozens of countries wanted to have those as core industries (especially China and India) so their governments subsidized their construction and production in many ways.

So steel and aluminum prices are in most of the world now below the price of production, which means it's not worthwhile running the plants without government support.

2 options for America to deal with this - both actually have merit, but you have to understand the trade-offs being made to understand the choices. 1st) the Free Trade position - do nothing and simply enjoy the fact that the rest of the world wants to sell you steel and aluminum. below cost. The trade-off is that your homegrown steel a and aluminum industry will disapear along with any jobs associated with it. 2nd) act to keep at least a share of the industry inside your borders by either subsidizing it directly, or using tariffs. You keep the jobs and you keep the capacity, but everyone has to pay more for steel than they would have.

There is another problem with Option 1, "just get it cheap" - this is not a permanent situation, and when worldwide production does finally get back into balance, as it will someday, your country is gonna be screwed if you chose this one.

that was the only and last time I voted for a Democrat.

although some of my GOP votes were mostly to prevent the Donks from slipping a douchebag past the electorate, I did okay in general.

I hated voting for McCain and Romney but what choice was there?

And now in my twilight years comes a man with a plan that actually tries to keep his campaign promises and has!!!!

I don't like to wish ill of the dead or wish anyone dead. Bad Karma and all that.

But McCain I think I can be forgiven for. A blot on the Senate for way too long.

450 Term limits on all politicians and pay them only a stipend to make sure they have real world experience.

And give them a nice retirement package...

conditioned on the fact that if they ever run for any office again, join a lobbying firm, or practice law anywhere on earth, the retirement checks stop and the IRS claws back every penny previously paid out!

451 Kind of a delicate balance no. If he belts her- he's an ass. If he let's her go, she goes on and brags about it to her girls and then it's all the rage.

Race to 911 is understandable in this day and age when gun rights are at risk for misdemeanor DV or less.

454 Why would FBI tell McCain they already had the dossier?

Posted by: torabora at March 06, 2018 08:35 PM (K0z2U)

455 McCain's greatest service to the nation at this point will be when his tumor rids us of him. He's been a menace.

456 They didn't "do something" because it was bullshit but they did use it to get warrants to search for something. For anthing and that of course continues to this day.

457 What if it comes out that Trump is the last honest man?

Posted by: Charles the Simple at March 06, 2018 09:53 PM (w7U7L)

458 McCain's legacy continues to be more and more tarnished. I hope he lives long enough for the whole tale to be unwound and his name to be mud. Couldn't have happened to a bigger asshole. The guy probably voted for Obama in 2008.
