Media Mocks Trump For Saying He'd Rush Unarmed to Stop Armed Assault; But They Forget That Time He Did Intervene Unarmed to Stop an Armed Assault

The media is enjoying its everyday easy posting -- recapping what the late night clowns said about Trump last night.

I wouldn't bother watching that, by the way. I'm not linking it because it's funny or interesting, but just to provide the cite proving my statement about the late night clown bukkake party.

A lot of jeering over Trump's claim he that he'd like to think he would have done something about the school shooting, even if unarmed himself. It's certainly not impossible to conceive -- many teachers used their bodies as human shields to protect student, and one unarmed cop rushed in to stop the shooter.

But the media has this weird thing about "good guys" just being incapable of bravery and effective (and lawful) violence to stop crime. And of course it has this unshakable idea that Trump is terrible in all ways.

So they're laughing at the idea he might have risked his safety to do stop a shooting. Well, maybe, maybe not. I think most real men actually think they would risk their lives in the defense of an innocent; it tends to be the feminized soibois who laugh at the idea as an impossibility. (And I'm thinking they're just universalizing from their own cowardice.)

Would Trump have run into a hail of bullets? Would you?

I certainly like to think I would, but I know that courage fails even brave men (a group I can claim no membership in). But I'd sure like to think I would.

But amidst the laughing about this preposterous idea that Trump might intervene to stop an assault, there should be this minor fact kept in mind: There was that one time he actually did, and it made (of course) the newspapers.

Trump was riding around Manhattan in his limo with his girlfriend, and later wife, Marla Maples. He saw a guy beating another guy. Trump told his driver to pull over. Maples did not want him to get involved.

But he did.

Trump told James Rosen of the Daily News, "The guy with the bat looked at me, and I said, 'Look, you’ve gotta stop this. Put down the bat.' I guess he recognized me because he said, 'Mr. Trump, I didn’t do anything wrong.' I said, 'How could you not do anything wrong when you’re whacking a guy with a bat?' Then he ran away."

There were witnesses, including Kathleen Romeo, who told the newspaper that when he emerged from his limo, the crowd cried, "There's Trump."

Now, yeah, that's "just" a baseball bat, but anyone who would sneer at standing up to a thug attacking someone with a baseball bat has obviously never been in any kind of physical fight and therefore had any cause to think about how damaging such a weapon can be.

Incidentally, Trump also said to the group he was addressing that he was sure most of the assembled crowd would do likewise.

I suppose Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, and Trevor Noah would not do likewise, and know that about themselves, and therefore find the idea that anyone else would to be just some kind of fantasy, like the idea that an armed citizen could ever be courageous and cool-headed enough to stop a violent crime by using or threatening to use his gun.

And that's because they're narcissists, of course, as many progs and wannabe TV evangelists are: If I can't/wouldn't do it, no one can or would do it, and therefore, it shouldn't be done at all.

That's 99% of the reason for the gun-control frenzy: Many people just don't want the heavy moral responsibility of carrying a gun and being responsible for protecting their own lives and their loved one's lives (and possibly for taking the life of someone threatening those lives), and therefore think that no one else should volunteer to bear that moral responsibility.

I actually think that's a good way of putting something I've been trying to get at for a while ... talk to anti gun people about why you have a gun and ask them why they dont. They'll say "why do I want a gun? I don't need a gun!" you say, "what if someone breaks in to your house?" they say, "I'll call the cops..." and eventually they get to the point where they essentially say they're scared of guns.

Usually that's expressed in some kind of "well, I'd be worried that if I owned a gun Id accidentally shoot myself" or "a burglar would use it against me" or whatever.

BUT, and this is a long way of saying it -- there's some kind of psychological thing going on there, no? They are projecting their weaknesses and insecurities and cowardice on to everyone else.

I see it when they use the word "trained" too -- "we need TRAINED cops to go after these killers" "only TRAINED people should have guns" etc. etc.

You know, someone other than them. Someone who is different then them.

"Coarseness." The term in reference to the government is so fucking laughable it hurts. We had a president in the 60s who was a famed philanderer. We had a president in the 90s who treated an intern as a personal humidor-cockholster and her dress as a jizz rag. We had a homosexual former pothead with a tranny wife not 2 years ago. We had an acoholic murderer who was reelected multiple times in congress. The list goes on and on.

Fuck it. At this point, I'm ready to throw in the towel. The state is, and always has been, vulgar. Its stock-in-trade is pointing its guns at the heads of productive citizens and enforcing compliance with administrative law promulgated by worthless double-digit IQ bureaucrats ruled over by elected degenerate scum bags, all the while turning a blind eye to bums leaching off and hurting the productive.

I welcome the gilding on the mask cracking and falling off. And god bless Trump for being on our side in it. I want him in a fucking luchador mask giving these jagweeds swirlies in a golden throne on live TV. I want to be the proverbial chad strutting around the school shoving these conniving communist pervert nerds into lockers and giving them rat tails. It's the only thing that they deserve and it's the only thing they'll understand. Fuck them all. Fuck them all to hell.

But I mean the left does have a fetish with certifications and whatnot... I just don't think that this is it.

I think if they think "only TRAINED EXPERTS should have guns" or "only TRAINED guards should confront danger" or whatever then they can let themselves off the hook for being cowards.

"of course, I'd never own a gun -- who has time to go through all of the TRAINING necessary to use it? It's not that I'm a wimp, I just decided to get TRAINED in gender studies instead of gun useage. That's it!"

92 That's 99% of the reason for the gun-control frenzy: Many people just don't want the heavy moral responsibility of carrying a gun and being responsible for protecting their own lives and their loved one's lives (and possibly for taking the life of someone threatening those lives), and therefore think that no one else should volunteer to bear that moral responsibility.

They don't get to make that decision for me.

Almost like people in NYC back in the day really, really liked Trump. Which they did.

The Left didn't start hating on him until he became a patriotic conservative American. And as we all know, we can't have that.

115 When its all said and done, the left doesn't want "no guns". They want a two tier gun ownership.

One where you and I don't have access to guns, but where common sense rules let the correctly trained people have guns.

Now lets talk about who is able to meet that criteria. Common sense and correctly trained are synonymous with politically reliable to the left. Big Blue police, hired armed guards, those individuals with specific need, Mr Clooney and his wife Huma of course.

Please review the Broward County Sheriffs Department for what politically reliable gun ownership looks like.

This is what David Hogg is advocating. Not gun free, but two tier, with you on the outside.

119 So here is one of my attempts to be brave:

There was this super-thuggish guy following a petite girl down the street in broad daylight making really, really profane remarks and sucking-type noises. Really very sexual and threatening. And he was following right behind her, like three paces, and just not stopping.

There were dozens of people around. No one did anything.

So I figure, okay, I gotta step up.

Now this guy is very scary looking. He's about average height but he is thick with muscle. He looks like a fireplug. Just big traps and a huge back. He looks kind of like a monster, very strong.

White, by the way. I call it "Bad Irish," the kind of Irish where you just look like you were made to be a thug.

So I decide "if no other faggits are going to do something, I'll have to."

So I figure that if I just challenge him in a loud, confident, authoritative voice, the fucker will be scared off, not just by me, but the fact that attention is now called to him and there are lots of other people around.

So I get my courage up, step up to within about ten feet of him, and bellow, "LEAVE THAT GIRL ALONE! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!"

So here's what happens:

Not a single one of the citizens I thought would be roused to action by my individual show of responsibility and courage did a thing. They just continued averting their eyes, like they had before.

This fireplug of an Irish thug now turns on me and begins threatening me, and furthermore, now begins making the very rude sexual propositions and sexual noises he was making towards the girl.

I stand firm for about one half a second, and then begin walking away.

The girl meanwhile just scampers off. She's no help.

So now this thug begins following ME down the street, two paces behind, telling me all the things he's going to do to ME with his dick and making slurping and sucking noises and that shit.

He follows me for like five blocks. This is the most humiliating, emasculating, and frightening walk on my life.

None of my fellow citizens -- Bostonians, by the way -- intervene at all.

This is before cellphones were a big thing so I didn't have one and couldn't just hit 911.

Anyway, I thought about just turning and fighting the guy and figuring "One good punch and he'll stop," but that didn't work with the Batman voice, so I'm thinking my ideas on this score are all fucking dumb.

I call back to the guy "Cops are comin' soon, Hoss" and shit like that and he just says 'I don't see none, man, you gonna be my bitch tonight."

I don't know why, but at some point this fucker just stopped following me. I don't know why.

But I was incredibly relieved.

So my Batman-Voice gambit did not work with this fucking guy and I don't think I'd try it again, especially not in fucking Boston.

Bingo. Trump made a pretty anodyne statement. Do I think that I would run in there to stop it? I like to think that I would. I like to think that most of the people I know would.

Would I really do that? I pray I am never put in a situation to find out.

Also using a bat is a good way to get the charges in a fight upgraded from a misdemeanor to assault with a deadly weapon. IIRC, bats have been used in more homicides recently than rifles.

I don't want to get all Scott Adams here but this is what leaders do. He makes people braver, by word or example. By just saying that 'I like to think that most of the people I know would', it makes it more likely that someone there, some day may in fact do the brave thing.

I'm not a fan of bats. I've taken too many of them away from drunk angry guys to be impressed with them.

Yeah, sounds really dickish the way fixerupper put it, but I'm largely on the same page.

It's like cops who break up domestic violence situations and end up getting themselves shot when the husband and wife who were beating each other up team up and turn on the cop.

I mean, not a perfect analogy, but I don't really want to be involved. Not a bravery thing, just a calculation I long ago made.

Same reason I don't make eye contact with schizophrenic guys on the subway. Hopefully if I ignore them, I don't have to deal with anything and can just be on my way.

Now, if someone was like about to murder someone else, then yeah, I'd try to help. But other than that? Eh... I dont know.

and therefore think that no one else should volunteer to bear that moral

323 That's 99% of the reason for the gun-control frenzy: Many people just
don't want the heavy moral responsibility of carrying a gun and being
responsible for protecting their own lives and their loved one's lives
(and possibly for taking the life of someone threatening those lives),
and therefore think that no one else should volunteer to bear that moral
responsibility.

What's the rule? Anyone with an edge weapon within 20 feet (30 maybe?) of a cop is reasonable grounds for fear of life and use of deadly force?

Knives are terrifying.

The closest I've come to having to intervene in something is when a crazy client at the Old Office was screaming at the receptionist and throwing magazines across the waiting room. I got a pair of scissors and the can of wasp spray that was never intended to be used for anything other than blinding an attacker and told him to leave and if he didn't we were going to hit the panic button for the cops. He took a step towards me and I raised the can and the scissors and yelled HIT THE PANIC BUTTON and he ran off.

The poor receptionist was so terrified she couldn't remember where the panic button was and it was literally taped to the underside of the desk in front of her.

A couple of years later she did have to hit the panic button because the schizophrenic woman who would take baths in the fountain out front of the office came in and rushed at her screaming about the bugs in her skin. In that case, the secretary heard this going on, yelled for the one lawyer who was a big guy and he and a bunch of us went running out and he pulled the woman away from the receptionist desk. The receptionist was hiding under the desk behind a chair.

The lawyer, bless him, was legitimately confused when we all said how brave and great he was because, hey, that's just what a man does.

Ace, your first mistake was the Blanche Dubois assumption - the kindness and bravery of strangers. If you do this again, first, find a weapon (2x4, trashcan, something heavy, whatever is available). Second, don't telegraph your actions - just act. Hit the target hard at strategic points - head, groin, kneecap. Then don't stop until he is unconscious. Use your elbows instead of fists in close. Aim for his jaw and eyes. Stomp on the arch of his foot. You must disable him not box him. Do not wrestle. When you close, do so to deliver killing blows.

Posted by: Puddin Head at February 27, 2018 03:09 PM (2LelM)

350 >>>irst rule of knife fights is you're gonna get cut. The second rule is whether the one with the knife is a poker or a slasher. Does he hold the knife like Zorro or like a butcher, with the knife protruding from the base of his fist - blade facing outboard. Stay away from the butcher - he knows what he's doing - slash and stab with power. Zorro is doable, but only if you have to do it.

Rule of fighting a guy with a knife is to run if possible.

Most guys don't slash, they stab, and it's hard as hell to stop a stab.

also, they blitz stab. Self-defense teaches you how to stop a single stab but they don't come in singles, they come in dozens, and no way you're stopping all those.

Knife attacks are also fast as fuck because you don't need form or power. You don't need to cock or put your back into it or anything. You just need to touch with some pressure to stab.

And there's next to zero recovery on any attack.

I think it's harder to catch people than we might imagine. The pursued, even if slower, can make cuts that make the pursuer overshoot and miss.

I mean, I can even dodge a dog with a few cuts.

Also, I think one guy running with another guy chasing definitely starts catching the attention of police.

That was enough for me to run away as quickly as I could.

Being stabbed, even by a shitty little pocket knife, could really ruin a guys day.

412 One of my BFF's was stabbed to death many years ago. She was 21. Her husband left for work, and a creep who had been watching her broke in and stabbed her nearly 30 times.

Her death has always haunted me. She and her husband were two of my best friends.

The guy was caught a year later attacking a woman in the ladies room of an office building.

I am terrified of the thought of being stabbed. Also, my epidural didn't take during my emergency c-section. I felt my belly being cut open. It took me yelling, "I FEEL YOU CUTTING ME!" for the anesthesiologist to wake up and put me out.

419 Most guys don't slash, they stab, and it's hard as hell to stop a stab.

also, they blitz stab.

===========
Escrima. You can block trap and disarm a stab, it takes a lot of practice and you have to control your fear. So basically its impossible unless you practice for years. I can do it with a practice knife against guys that are good and trying hard to bruise me with the blade tip.

However, with a real blade my fear would probably cause me to screw it up. I'd start thinking about it. It has to be a thoughtless reaction like blinking.

468 My two cents - stabbing is the weakest form of knife attack and the easiest to defeat. The knife is held by fingers, thumb and the wrist is exposed and subject to twisting and only there is only one move to cut/stab. Try the same with a knife in a fist that can deliver power blows in two directions - on the upswing of a arm/shoulder slash and on the downswing stab. These are powerful attacks. Run when you see this.

Black bear. Guy 30 ft away, call him Jim, spritzes the bear with the bear spray. Bear gets furious and before Jim can say 'Wuh?' the bear is giving him the Treadwell treatment.

And off to the side two guys in lab coats nod. "Yep good for 30ft."

Don't worry about that. Most guys can't throw accurately on the run and a single thrown blade won't kill you, probably.

When we were kids we all bought those Rambo Knives after the movie came out. We learned to throw them very well and practiced.

But then again we ordered the anarchist cookbook as teenagers, made bombs to blow shit up on our hunting lands, and made our own ghillie suits, and cleaned our own deer and other game.
Posted by: Pound Me Too at February 27, 2018 03:27 PM (96C7R)

You, I'm not worried about throwing a blade into someone's back. You sound like you have your stuff squared away.

Maybe it's just me, but everything is harder when you're both moving. I've never been able to stick a target on the run.

477 468 My two cents - stabbing is the weakest form of knife attack and the easiest to defeat.
Posted by: Puddin Head at February 27, 2018 03:27 PM (2LelM)

==========
It would be random bad luck if the pointy tip hit you for almost any knife but a throwing blade.
Throwing knives have the balance all in the head so they don't revolve around in a circle -depending on how hard you snap it you may get a revolution in the first couple feet or not they kind of settle into a wobble with the tip in the lead and the handle behind.

Well in our school the difficult one was a type of fencer's stab. It just comes in at an awkward angle and in the beginning it could be a slash so it delays your reaction block/trap. But that was probably idiosyncratic to the style I was learning.

494 Years ago in Georgetown I came across 4 urban yutes who were kicking the SHIT out of this (white - not to be racialist but to give you an accurate picture of what was going on) guy on the sidewalk.

It was in front of a tour bus. A crowd was watching this guy getting the shit kicked out of him. There was a woman saying "Stop! Stop!" but that was ineffective. The rest of the crowd was passive.

So I reached down and pulled out some command voice, and said, "Hey, Stop That!" (Yes, you could hear the capital letters.)

4 yutes stopped. And stood back. Crowd grabbed up guy who had blood pouring from his face and whisked him off.

Lead yute looks around at the crowd and determines that it was me that issued the command - probably because I was standing out from the crowd.

He says, "Oh yeah, what you going to do about it motherfucker?"

My mind said, "yeah, what are you going to do about it motherfucker?"

Luckily my mouth said "I am not here to bust you guys, but there are cops out on the street tonight." Lead yute lunges toward me and I did not flinch, and then they all turn tail and run up M Street.

I wasn't a cop. I wasn't armed. I was just this guy, you know? But I wasn't about to let those 4 guys take advantage of their victim. I don't doubt they could have beat him to death.

Patton knew: When shells are hitting all around you and you wipe the dirt from your face and you realize that it's not dirt, it's the blood and gut of what was once your best friend, you'll know what to do.

"There was this super-thuggish guy following a petite girl down the street in broad daylight making really, really profane remarks and sucking-type noises. Really very sexual and threatening. And he was following right behind her, like three paces, and just not stopping. "

That happened to me in Washington DC not long after I moved there. I decided to walk home from work because the weather was nice. I didn't realize that walking down 14th St. was not a great idea for a young woman. (In the '80's, 14th street was pretty sleazy. I don't know if it still is or not.)

Three guys followed me, doing the same thing, and they tailed me until I was almost home. I tried to ignore them but after about 3 blocks, I felt tears coming down my face.

When I got home, I just sat on the sofa and cried - I felt so humiliated and degraded by the experience.

So good on you ace, for doing something to stop that guy. there were a lot people around when it happened to me and nobody did anything.

The next day, I told my boss and he said, "Don't ever go walking down 14th Street by yourself again. I don't care if it's 12 noon." Word.

546 After all, if you believe your entire goal, if you believe the very MEANING of life its self is to be comfortable, at ease, having sex as often as possible with as many different things as possible (people and otherwise), if you think your personal happiness and health and the most orgasms possible is your reason for existence...

being brave is horrible. You might get hurt, or worse, disfigured so its harder to get laid.

557 >>4.5 lbs separates someone living from dying

Back a fw decades when my parents live in Atlanta there was guy who was carjacking women on off ramps - they were distracted, slowing down their cars and he'd hop in the back. Of course the police kept in quiet so not to scare people (you know how they like to do that sometimes). Well, the guy jumped into the car of a woman who pulled a gun out of her purse and held up to his head. He fled and then the news covered the story. All it took was a woman with a gun who said "No."

Posted by: Lizzy at February 27, 2018 03:46 PM (W+vEI)

558 I certainly like to think I would, but I know that courage fails even brave men (a group I can claim no membership in). But I'd sure like to think I would.

I don't know. I would like to think so, and dream of a heroic death: that guy on the bridge holding off the enemy so that those I love can survive.

But even if I would not, I do understand that cowardice is shameful and to be condemned, that bravery is a virtue that is to be praised, and that what those men did was a horrendous betrayal which ended up with more dead kids.

As to the issue at hand - these people, the sheriff and his deputy dawgs, signed-up for, and were paid, to do a job. They had to have been told at some point along the line that their job was potentially, ahem, dangerous. They failed, utterly. And 17 lives ended prematurely as a result.

We don't commend and defend firefighters who won't rush into a burning building. Because that's The Job. If you're not up to The Job then go find another way to make a living. Sitting in a line of traffic leaving a rock concert. Two guys get out of their cars - yelling. One guy doing most of the yelling was about 6foot or so 200 lbs. The other guy, looked like a linebacker. Pro football.

Linebacker didn't say anything really. Just stood there. Other guy squared off but about 8 to 10 feet away. Took up a martial arts stance.

Lineback stood there. Like a stone. Hands at side. Looking at the other guys legs. No eye contact. 20 seconds or so. Maybe even longer. The other guy said some stuff, hopped up and down a bit but didn't initiate. All of the sudden the linebacker just ran right over the guy, prison rush/Sumo. He didn't follow up and kill the guy once he had him down. Linebacker turned around and walked back to his car. Other guy picks himself up and retires, swearing as he goes. My wife says: what was that? I said: alcohol, testosterone and bad judgment.

Sure, there are people in our culture, mostly rural areas, who will stand up and be counted. There are soldiers out there laying their life on the line for everything we live for without even knowing us. There are firefighters that run toward death with a grin. That coach stood and took bullets so the kids could get away.

But our culture, the society we live in, is at a point where its not even considered shameful to be a coward, and these deputies are readily and publicly excused for their unbelievable craven behavior that resulted in deaths of young people. That's our culture.

One day he just pushed me too far so I spear-tackled him, despite the fact he was significantly larger than me, got in a mount position and was about to pound his face in when I realized the world of shit I'd be in if I proceeded. I punched the ground next to his head and walked off. He never bothered me again.

The girl, who unfortunately was named after me is now a left wing looney who despite being bright, is stuck in neutral and can't deal with life. But neither he or anyone else ever gave me shit again. His friends mocked him relentlessly for picking on a much smaller, younger kid. And any other potential bullies knew my rep - that I had stood up to this behemoth, so they left me alone. It's all about getting the rep.

632 607 Every Man should have the shit beat out of them in a fight at least once and every man should be victorious by beating the shit out of another man.

Never had either happen. I have had guys hitting me but they hit very poorly because I barely felt it. I have never been in a fist fight, because I've never had any reason to. "

There's really never a good reason, only reason I got into any was in my oilfield trash days hanging out in small town bars with nothing to do but drink and cause trouble on a friday night. I think that's what about 90% of fights come down to, that and hanging out with people who I knew were gonna cause trouble and who I knew I shouldn't hang with.

One of those guys was way fun most of the time, but when he got drunk he thought it was funny to start shit. And drag his friends into it. He finally grew out of it - I remember him telling me, when he got over 30, he said "you know one night I was out laying in some gravel parking lot, where I'd just been knocked, and I was trying to roll under this pick up truck to get out of reach of this giant guy with giant cowboy boots who was tryin' to stomp me to death, and it suddenly hit me - this was a damned stupid position for me to have got myself into."

sometimes it takes something extreme to get some people woke, as they say.

The parents made him wear patrol boots and weird pants and glasses and keep his hair short and brylcreamed. The fat kid would grab poor Kenny's lunch box and books and throw them almost daily; sometimes he'd knock Kenny down and step on his glasses One day I got between them and told fatty to knock it off. I was surprised none of the boys jumped to help. Then fatty started pelting me with horse chestnuts. But is threw them back at him and chased him home.

At our 30 th high school reunion, he showed up still fat and gross. He claimed to not remember me. (HA!) The next year he died. I was glad. Kenny killed himself years earlier.
