Jake Tapper a Former Spokesman for Handgun Control, Inc.?

So says Gateway Pundit, quoting an old news story identifying one "Jake Tapper" as a spokesman for Handgun Control, Inc. (which would later become the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence).

Now, I suppose it's possible that the Jake Tapper mentioned here is not the same Jake Tapper who a large number of cucky "conservatives" have homoerotic (at the very least) crushes on, but I've scanned Jake Tapper's twitter feed for a claim like this -- "Wrong Jake Tapper," that kind of thing -- and as far as I can tell he's just completely ignoring it.

And when someone in the media simply ignores a charge that they obviously have the power to respond to -- well, you can decide for yourself.

Of course, CNN did not disclose this before, during, or after its rowdy, Beer Hall Putsch-style "townhall," nor have they ever disclosed it, as far as I know.

By the way, a father and daughter have come forward to accuse CNN not of "scripting" questions as another Parkland student alleged, but at least of only soliciting a certain kind of opinion for their political advertisement masquerading as news.

Two victims of the February 14 massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, have now come forward to say CNN producers filtered out opinions contrary to the rabid demands for gun control and confiscation that dominated the network’s Wednesday night town hall.

"I actually spoke to a CNN producer... the day after the shooting," Andrew Klein, father of Arianna Klein, a Douglas junior who survived the ordeal, told Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle" Thursday night. "The producer insinuated to me they were looking for people who were willing to espouse a certain narrative."

Klein's daughter, Ariana, survived the shooting ordeal in which former student Nikolas Cruz murdered 17 students and adults.... Both Kleins attended Wednesday's listening session with President Donald Trump at the White House.

The narrative that CNN preferred, the senior Klein told host Laura Ingraham, "was taking the tragedy and turning it into a policy debate, and I read that as being a gun control debate ... the producer said, 'We are looking for people who want to talk about the policy implications for preventing future mass shootings.'"

I have to admit I'm enjoying see Jake Tapper's #FakeNewsConservative Twitter Bitches all wailing and gnashing their teeth at the Shock Revelation that Tapper is a biased liberal with an agenda.

Oh, and this is good stuff:

Here's Jake Tapper's defense, which seems pretty weak to me.

So what happened was:

1. The student said she had a question for Dana Loesch, but then said she would ask it of Nelson.

2. The question actually accused "politicians," including Bill Nelson (a Democrat), of being "puppets" of the NRA and of taking "blood money."

3. Jake decided that this question would have to be held for Dana, even though the student herself said she didn't mind asking it of Nelson.

Before you say "But Bill Nelson wants to ban all guns so the question isn't applicable" -- well, no, that's not his stated position. The crowd cheered at the idea of banning all semi-automatic rifles; is that Bill Nelson's position? Certainly not -- not if he wants to get re-elected.

So is he a puppet of the NRA? Would he have offered a more nuanced take on gun control, had he been permitted to answer?

Has he ever taken NRA money, or sought their endorsement, or at least their non-opposition?

We could have heard this thoughts on this, but fortunately for us, Jake stepped in to keep Nelson from having to explain if he felt he had gun on his hands for opposing the banning of all semi-automatic rifles.

See what Jake is doing here? Moderating. But notice that his excuse as to why he let students accuse Marco Rubio of essentially being a mass-murderer himself is that he didn't feel it was his role to step in and keep these students from having their say.

But in this case, where a Democrat is asked about why "senators" are puppets of the NRA, he feels that it is the right time to step in and do some moderation and deny a grieving student her voice.

Oh -- and this is interesting, no?

6 Ace, you obviously don't know "moderating."

Moderating involves using your judgment, honed by years or decades of hard-won journalism experience and a plethora of bullshit awards, to get people to express your views on camera.

It's not a skill that you can learn from blogging.

You either actively support, or are simply "OK with," every brutal socialist dictator and communist regime, the world over, literally for 101 years, since 1917. Through your support, then, you are responsible for their actions -- actions which include 100 million murders and plunging one-third of the globe into hellish oppression, physical agony and psychological torture. So my question is: What exactly does it feel like to have blood on your hands? I want a detailed description. Does the metaphorical blood feel all squishy? Or has it become sticky? Do you constantly fantasize about killing yourself, as you ought to do? Do you dream of going to hell, where you are headed, as you experience the sensation of blood on your hands? LOOK AT ME AS I AM SPEAKING TO YOU!! Answer. Answer me now for the world to hear.

37 CNN itself is now reporting that there were a total of three, maybe four, the reporting is a bit confusing, Broward County police officers on site.

That is important because of the claims that the Cowardly Lion could not go after the shooter himself because the standard procedure is four officers in a diamond shape. This of course ignores the and if four people can't be there in time, one person rushes the shooter.

So it appears there were multiple people there. We may well be approaching incompetence so high as to get around immunity.

44 The truth will never completely come out as long as the FNM is in charge of most of the outlets of dissemination.

And that is the reason why the FNM must be taken down and or destroyed as it currently exists.

Trying to change it from within would be nie impossible and take too long.

Unless some conservatives can manage to take over many large markets and start presenting the truth on a daily basis we are doomed to try to fight the lies.

And if the GOP folds we're screwed. It will be civil war time if the GOP caves and Trump signs a universal back ground check bill or some other restrictive scheme.

If someone like Senator Nelson of Florida wants to ban semiautomatic rifles, it will end his career. Even in "purple" states that won't play well.

Don't let Democrats get nebulous about what gun control they want. It's an effective wedge issue and the mega donors will be pressuring them to take draconian gun stands.

There are two scenarios for CNN.

A: They wrote the questions for the people to ask.

109 The CNN Theater is just like debate questions for political candidates. It's set up to say, "We're just taking questions from the public to ask the candidates. We're not biased or involved other than as conduits to discussion."

Bullshit. Into their hat of questions, they always manage to pull out the ones the producers would have asked had they completely excluded public input. They would never allow random questions or questioning. Badthoughts might get into the public forum, and that's the absolute last thing they want.

News orgs are propaganda machines some of which hope to make money. Right now, CNN and (MS)NBC are worse than Pravda ever was. Talk about Russian collusion, CNN and (MS)NBC have been the epicenter for years.

The sheriff is a liar. There was no "good guy with a gun". There was only a guy with a gun and a deep desire to eat dinner at home that night. The good guys weren't allowed to have guns because the sheriff didn't want to be shown up.

Why the need for the snark?

I hope you are correct. That said, there are a lot of people who believe otherwise.

We are not a majority. Plus I did not say they would win. Just how they would proceed in answer to a question about what they would do in the cities to confiscate firearms from felons.

And let's not get into how the military would balk at fighting citizens. There are a number of assumptions about that that are not guaranteed to happen.

And there are ways to frame the confiscations such that a large portion of the public would not take a side.

It's worked in a number of attacks by the Federal Government in the past. And this time they would be very serious with a law to give them at least the appearance of legitimacy.

No, but what they'll do is like Australia where its officially banned, but lots of people keep them hidden.

So if someone breaks into your home, you have to worry if shooting them will put you in prison.

And you won't be able to go to a gun range, buy bullets, etc. Which is what the Left wants and will count as a victory.

I could see states passing draconian gun laws and our "conservative" judges that have painted themselves into a corner of states rights federalism and against any judicial activism, going along.

They went along with CA's clearly unconstitutional "waiting period" after all.

I don't believe anyone could predict what will actually happen when it comes down to the wire.

Everyone eventually reaches that point where they must make a choice and take a stand regardless of the consequences.

It will depend a lot on how they go about it.

There are ways they could approach confiscation so that the counter action would be minimized or spread too far so that they could be overwhelmed.

If it happens quickly and in a overwhelming fashion many may be convinced it's not worth trying to fight.

Look at history and how many people did surrender their firearms most knowing inside what would happen but hoping they were wrong.

People need to make a decision in their heart and mind NOW and not when someone comes to the door.

All it takes to "distribute" guns to everyone is just distribute the digital files describing how they are printed. That easy. Makes all the gun control arguments moot and ridiculous.

276 I feel odd talking about this.

First, 5% of all gun owners is still a pretty big number. And if they are motivated, that is a pretty dangerous thing for tyrants.

Then there is the assumption that those gun owners would all be passively waiting for a squad to arrive at their individual doorsteps. Again, if they are motivated then we are likely to see, well, if anyone has ever read Unintended Consequences by John Ross then you know where I am thinking this could go.

And once things start happening, I think more people will start joining that core 5%.

You're making too flat a statement on this.

It will depend on where and who they start with and how it's done.

You can't speak for anyone other than yourself with any surety. and even then you might be surprised.

Myself, if they're sneaky they might not alarm me enough and if they get me away from home they can easily take me and what I have.

If they try busting in, they'll have a fight on their hands but i'm not immune from gas or flash bangs.

So it's a who knows sort of thing.

I do know that something will happen if Universal Background Checks is passed and signed. That's for sure.

There will be a LOT of people who won't go register their firearms.

Then it will be a waiting game. You won't be able to carry without fear of being searched, or if an accident happens and your house can catch fire and they'll discover your firearms that way. The Gov can be very patient.

And don't forget that this is a liberal bureaucracy. Maybe they'll do it in defiance of any thing said by Trump?

Then it really will be a war.

After much belligerent back and forth, they finally said they would reinstate me but they wanted phone numbers, etc. I told them I didn't have a phone. LOL Got reinstated.

300 Are things so dire that we are talking about gun confiscation? Really? I'd think there's a long road of fighting ahead before it gets to that. I'd hope at least.

Then, there will be a black market for guns (there already is). Just like during Prohibition had their market for booze. This is a vast country, and gun running from Mexico is a huge problem. That won't stop.

Honestly, they have a ways to go to where a person can economically just "print" a gun that would be worth a damn. You'd be better off making a zip gun at Home Depot with some metal pipe.

I'm sure some day it will be there, but a used CNC machine would probably be a better way to make a gun at home.

I am sorry this turned morbid. I do think that while it is true no one will know exactly what will happen, that does not mean it will be a surrender. It just means we do not know exactly.

346 I think nevershankles is upset because he isn't sure whether he could stand up to an illegal unconstitutional seizure of his property and take away his rights and is mad because others seem to be sure they can.

It will depend on a lot of factors.

Lexington and Concord succeeded because the Brits were arrogant and stupid. They didn't believe the civilians would stand up to them.

One note: the Revolutionary war probably lasted longer because they used mercenaries against the colonists. This aggravated the colonists to no end and made them more willing to fight. Plus the mercenaries didn't fight as well as they would if it had been their country. (maybe)

I pray that Trump has the sense to deny a universal back ground check law.

347 It's already totally illegal for felons to have guns.

And yet right now as we speak the ghettos of American are full to bursting with felons who have massive arsenals. Everyone knows this. The cops knows this.

AND YET, the cops do absolutely NOTHING to attempt to "confiscate" the guns of felons. If a felon happens to get caught red-handed at a crime scene with a gun, then yeah, they'll confiscate it. But the cops do NOT -- nor do they have the right to -- kick in the doors of felons and search their houses for guns. Even though probably well over 50% of felons in bad neighborhoods most definitely have guns.

Now, in some putative future gun-ban scenario, multiply that by a hundred. A thousand. There's no way in a zillion years that cops will be kicking in every American's door to search their homes for guns:

a. The cops simply don't have the manpower. Nothing even close to the manpower;

b. The search itself would violate the Constitution, totally aside from the second amendment; SEARCHING for guns violates the FOURTH Amendment.

c. It would be trivial for most gun owners to hide the guns, so they couldn't be found even if there was a search.

d. The police for the most part would not willingly participate in a left-wing power grab, since most cops are not left-wingers.

e. Finally, the "Cold dead fingers" crowd would actively resist. All it takes is a few token resistors to inspire the nation. There would be millions of resistors. The whole confiscation system would quickly fall apart.

365 So, it looks like we are only now finding out about these 4 deputies bcz of Coral Springs police.

"Florida school shooting: Coral Springs police upset at some Broward deputies for not entering school, sources say"

"When Coral Springs police officers arrived at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on Feb. 14 in the midst of the school shooting crisis, many officers were surprised to find not only that Broward County Sheriff's Deputy Scot Peterson, the armed school resource officer, had not entered the building, but that three other Broward County Sheriff's deputies were also outside the school and had not entered, Coral Springs sources tell CNN. The deputies had their pistols drawn and were behind their vehicles, the sources said, and not one of them had gone into the school.

With direction from the Broward deputies who were outside, Coral Springs police soon entered the building where the shooter was. New Broward County Sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene, and two of those deputies and an officer from Sunrise, Florida, joined the Coral Springs police as they went into the building.

Some Coral Springs police were stunned and upset that the four original Broward County Sheriff's deputies who were first on the scene did not appear to join them as they entered the school, Coral Springs sources tell CNN. It's unclear whether the shooter was still in the building when they arrived.

What these Coral Springs officers observed -- though not their feelings about it -- will be released in a report, likely next week. Sources cautioned that tapes are currently being reviewed and official accounts could ultimately differ from recollections of officers on the scene.

The resentment among Coral Springs officials toward Broward County officials about what they perceived to be a dereliction of duty may have reached a boiling point at a vigil the night of February 15, where, in front of dozens of others, Coral Springs City Manager Mike Goodrum confronted Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel. A source familiar with the conversation tells CNN that Goodrum was upset that the Broward deputies had remained outside the school while kids inside could have been bleeding out, among other reasons."

A Dartmouth College graduate who began his career as a congressional press secretary, Jake Tapper walked the halls of Congress, wrote several non-fiction books as well as articles for the New York Times and Washington Post and interviewed a wide array of political powerhouses as Chief Washington Correspondent for CNN.

Jacob Paul Tapper was born in 1969 in New York City but grew up in nearby Philadelphia. Jake attended his father's alma mater Dartmouth College and briefly studied at the University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television. But it was politics and Washington D.C. that was his true calling. In 1992, only a year after he graduated, he was working as the campaign press secretary for Democratic congressional candidate Majorie Margolies-Mezvinsky, quickly followed with work for the D.C. Public relations powerhouse Powell Tate and then Handgun Control Inc. All of these put Tapper into the middle of the ideological firestorm that was politics in Washington during the turbulent 1990s. At the same time that he was working in various political offices around the nation's capital, he was also writing for a number of publications. In 1998 he went to full time journalism when the Washington City Paper hired him as a senior writer. During this same time period he was also the Washington correspondent for the online publication Salon.com. In 2003 ABC hired him to be the substitute host and Senior White House Correspondent for ¿This Week¿(ABC 1996- ). As ABC's man in Washington, Jake was a frequent contributor to a variety of shows such as "Good Morning America" (ABC 1975- ), "Nightline" (ABC 1980- ) and "ABC World News"(ABC 1953- ). In 2008 ABC named him their White House Correspondent, where his coverage of the Obama administration won him numerous awards. In 2013 he moved to rival news powerhouse CNN and began to host his own news show "The Lead with Jake Tapper" (CNN 2013- ). He also was named that year to be CNN's Chief Washington Correspondent, while he completed his work on his third non-fiction book, The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor.

369 I never really bought into conspiracies. Talk of the Tri-Lateral Commission, Bilderburgers with Fries and Dick Cheney scaling the Twin Towers like Spiderman to plant bombs all make my eyes glaze over.

But Parkland stinks. Vegas stinks. Charlottesville stinks. Fast and Furious stinks.

I don't mean to go all Mel Gibsonish "Conspiracy Theory" on you, Sugartits, but this is all starting to look like one big project.

We know for a fact that Fast and Furious was an anti-gun, anti-NRA Black Op that boomeranged.

And we know for a fact that the Obama/Clinton Deep State just tried to criminally rig the last election. So why wouldn't they continue to create other scenarios for anti-gun agitation? Because they're too principled? Please.

Ohr's involved again. Brennan is agitating again. Barry just told young activists "We've been waiting for you." I'll bet you have. Has they're ever been a Communist coup-plotter who didn't want to disarm the general public?

Ronald Reagan once said "Don't be afraid to see what you see." He faced down the Hollywood Communists in his day. Then as now, lot of people were invested in hiding the truth. But he saw it.

Now it's our turn.

"In 1998, while working for the group Handgun Control, Tapper was pondering an offer from Washington City Paper when the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke...."

371 This is an old AR-15 forum posting about Jake, mentioning the Handgun Control link, posted here for its (dead) links to several Salon stories he wrote about the NRA, presumably anti-gun. I wonder if any Wayback skills would work...

372 I just joined the NRA. Should have done it earlier, but OTOH, I'm sure they'll be heartened by a bump up in membership right now.

F*ck the left!

I agree with you. I've known crazy Kennedy assassination conspiracy theorists and my eyes would gaze over as they would explain their intricate thoughts on how Hoover or the CIA or LBJ or Hoffa got Kennedy offed.

But now? Yeah, it's pretty damn clear the media and the Dem party are hand in glove. And government agencies are in league with the Dems. That's not crazy talk - all of those entities have one thing in common - they want government to grow, and they want Americans dependent on the government.

374 I am stunned that even CNN would sink this low...let alone the school that these loudmouth assholes are representing, before the whole country, with their rudeness and entitlement.

"Excuse me? I'm a student --"???

I'm just steamed, totally steamed, that no one during or since, that I know of, has called out these arrogant, crude children and told them they have no right to speak to a fellow human being with that kind of contempt.

It really... makes me sick.
