Ohhh: "Intelligence" That Trump Cavorted With Prostitutes In Russia, and That the FSB Had Kompromat on Him, Was First Claimed in Cody Shearer's Memo, Before Migrating to the "Steele Dossier"

I've earlier speculated that, given that Hillary's disreputable-to-the-point-of-absurdity "researchers" Sidney Blumethal and Cody Shearer were actually the major ghostwriters of what we call the "Steele Dossier," and that Christopher Steele was brought on mainly as a Front Man, a "cleanskin," whose name slapped upon the Blumenthal/Shearer joint production would lend it a veneer of credibility that the names Blumenthal and Shearer would not.

Allegation laundering, I'm speculating.

This is just a speculation. I don't have any facts that establish it, only that suggest it as a possibility. Such as the now-admitted fact that Shearer and Blumenthal continued feeding Steele their own "intelligence" (I can't put enough sneer-quotes around that word in this context) and that Sidney Blumenthal was, for reasons not yet explained, interviewed in connection with the "Steele" Dossier.

Almost as if he knew something about it.

Well, now there's a new bit of data: Cody Shearer is the guy who obtained, supposedly, "intelligence" from an unknown foreign (RUSSIAN) source about Trump supposedly staging a Urinary Olympics with prostitutes, kompromat material claimed to be in the hands of the KGB successor organization the FSB, and then passed this splashy, stinky tip to Christopher Steele.

Oh, by the way: Christopher Steele only began work on "his" dossier in June 2016. But in August 2016, Shearer was already peddling this outlandish bit of dezinformazioniya to the press.

Which suggests that maybe Shearer was already working on this smear campaign before Steele was hired.

Chuck Ross:

Clinton insider Cody Shearer obtained information from an unidentified foreign source

Cody Shearer, a longtime Clinton insider, was peddling dirt on President Donald Trump as early as Aug. 2016, two months earlier than previously known, a U.S. government source tells The Daily Caller News Foundation.

The official also said they originally discounted the information when they first heard of it because of Shearer's reputation as a Clinton hostaet man.

Shearer, a former journalist, was "not a guy with a whole lot of credibility," said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of investigations into the various Trump-Russia investigations.

Which might be why someone would want to erase the title "The Blumenthal/Shearer Dossier" and rewrite it as "The Christopher Steele Dossier."

Because we all know that Christopher Steele is an unquestionably reliable man who would never lie to the FBI, except those times when he did lie to the FBI resulting in the FBI firing him as their special foreign friend.

The House Intelligence and Senate Judiciary Committees are investigating the so-called "Shearer memo" and how it made its way from the Clinton operative, through the State Department, and into the hands of Christopher Steele, the former British spy who wrote the infamous dossier.

Did he? Did he write it, or did he just edit it?

I mean, I "wrote" this post. But you'll notice -- it seems to contain an awful lot of Chuck Ross' reportage in it.

Steele passed some of Shearer's information to the FBI in Oct. 2016, The Guardian first reported Jan. 30.

...

Steele provided the FBI with a handwritten memo based upon information from Shearer, according to The Atlantic. The note also reportedly referenced Shearer's association with Blumenthal and disclosed that the information was unverified.

The Shearer memo and the Steele dossier contain some of the same unverified allegations.

The core allegation in the Shearer memo was that Russia’s spy agency, the FSB, had video footage of Trump engaging with prostitutes during a 2013 trip to Moscow.

The first memo in Steele's dossier, dated June 20, 2016, makes a similar allegation. Steele’s sources claimed that the FSB had recordings of Trump with prostitutes in a Moscow hotel room, and that the footage was being used as "kompromot."

It remains unclear whether Shearer and Steele obtained their information from the same source.

The article notes that Sheaer and Steele "share common friends."

Now, I can't quote the whole thing, and it's worth the read in full: I omitted the parts about how one of Hillary's minions in the State Dept. Derp State helped shepherd this document to the FBI.

Here's a question for ya: Why did Steele present his document to State, knowing that the FBI was actually the agency that would be tasked with investigating such claims?

He's not a naif (we're told -- he's James Bond, practically!), and he's worked for the FBI before.

So why is he passing this to State?

Where Hillary's flunkies work?

And why did Shearer also pass his bullshit to a State Department official, when Hillary Clinton has been his patron and client for 30 years?

I would imagine the answer in both cases is to create layers of separation insulating the men responsible from these memos from the memos, and to create the illusion that this is Definitely Not the Work of Hillary Clinton.

Nope, these are just dossiers, Definitely Not Paid for By Hillary Clinton, showing up as hot tips at Hillary's State Department, and then being passed by one of her employees to the FBI.

I'm sure she didn't know about any of this.

Also see the article to see a fuller explanation as to why Cody Shearer could not really pass around a dossier with own name at the top of it -- his reputation stinks like a bed pissed on by dirty Russian prostitutes who just got back from an asparagus-eating orgy.

Two reasons:

-- She needed to counter any allegations that she worked with Russia re: Uranium One, maybe other CGI shenanigans. Also, make him look just as sleazy as bill (hookers, etc.).

-- She needed to destroy Trump so that he could not continue to effectively challenge her, should he contest the election results, and after as she started her presidency.

Also recall one of Obama's people (Ploufe. IIRC?) had a tweet that said essentially "we don't just need to defeat Trump, we need to defeat him so badly all of his kind are defeated, too." That would be us - the deplorables.

I see this too. And it seems like a race. Can the DNC / Deep State collusion be exposed to the public sooner than or at a faster rate than the MSM can tar our side ( like how they're going after Gen. Kelly over that secretary's spouse abuse ).

And good catch, willow, saying that it was the media that's the main factor driving the midterm turnovers, not the Dems. MSM delenda est.

If Dems win in November, Trump might not be POTUS a year from now (God forbid). Got to drain as much of the swamp as possible as soon as possible.

3) Prejudicial thinking (not just Trump is bad, but a former MI6 spy would never lie to us).

4) martyr syndrome (I am the savior, the one who will save the day!)

5) group think (if Comey thinks this is good, who am I to question it?)

I could probably think of a few more.

I never said that.

>>Hey whatever happened to that DNC IT dude?

He's on trial in federal court.

You aren't the only one who has seen how things have happened in DC but you don't seem to realize that circumstances can and do change.

Did you know that one of the first things Obama and Holder did after taking office was to neuter the power of every Inspector General across his administration?

Did you know that he made them ask the head of the department they were assigned to for all information and they were routinely turned down?

Did you know that there wasn't even an IG in the State Department for most of Hillary's time there?

Did you know that it was a law pushed by Chuck Grassley in the fall of 2016 that restored the power to Inspector General and the person who led the fight to get it done was Inspector General Michael Horowitz, the same guy who is doing the investigation of the DOJ and FBI?

And finally, for the last time today, Sessions is NOT recused from any investigation but the Trump Russia investigation. That's it. Period. End of story.

The various committees in Congress have been asking for a second special counsel since last summer. They are laying the groundwork to have one once the IG report hits and nobody will be recused.

This is not like any investigation that took place during the Obama years because he and Holder and Lynch saw to it that the required information would never see the light of day and they would not prosecute no matter what evidence was produced.

That is the entire point of the Hillary email investigation.

They believed then, and continue to believe to this day, that Donald Trump is a Kremlin stooge and they are going to find the evidence to prove it. They believed that the evidence was there to find, and that they were going to find it. That's why they grasp at straws -- because they have utterly convinced themselves of the truth of what we all know is a lie. The conspirators within the FBI/DOJ/MSM believed they were serving their country. Sure, they might have bent a few rules here and there, but it was all toward a good purpose, and they would be proven right in the end. The fact that serving their country and serving the interests of the Clintons turned out to be the same thing, as it so often does, was just to be expected, because the Clintons are patriots who saved the country from the evil Republicans. This is the way they think. Millions of TWANLOC agree with them.

well imo the Sessions recusal was NOT part of the plan, and made for great difficulties for Trump as that gave Deep State powerful leverage over him.

The OIG was hard at work well before Sessions. BUT maybe Trump worked through all that.

I have yet to see evidence that Mueller was brought in on team Trump, early or later. Trump has relied on the military side (Mueller was military, so MAYBE he flipped against Deep State, to save his own skin?)

Anyway ... Sessions IS involved in things not Mueller, so not totally asleep (though still obstructing, for some reason). If setting up Rosenstein/Mueller with unlimited power was part of the master sting ... Bully for them. I just don't see that ... yet.

246 One problem I think I can see is exactly who does initiate any legal action in the "Russia!" scandal (scandal for DOJ/FBI, that is). Rosenstein's name is on the last FISA affidavit, Sessions is recused. Who oversees the prosecutions that obviously should flow from the idiocy now being unearthed?

And Limbaugh mangled a complex point being made by McCarthy, who appears to believe that "potus wants to know everything" text released yesterday referred to Russian interference investigation, not Trump-focused investigation or Clinton crime wave fake investigation. Not sure how McCarthy knows this with certainty.

And McCarthy's latest at NRO is a mess. The guy simply cannot follow the logic of even his own insights when it comes to his beloved judicial institutions. He long ago explained how the Mueller operation is illegitimate under DOJ regs (no predicate crime), but instead of disbanding it, he now recommends some weird re-branding as counter-intel operation, or something. Sad case, because he knows his stuff.

Do people think that Sessions recusing himself from an investigation into Trump collusion with Russia somehow means the justie department cannot investigate into it? The "investigation" WAS the message in McLuhan terms. The investigation was designed an Op to gather illegal surveillance, to then leak any and all "dirt" found to the media in half-truths during the election (with the path to the leakers covered over by massive "unmaskings.")

318 MISH AFAIK McCarthy was a successful US attorney who ended up specializing in counter-terror matters because he was the guy who prosecuted the blind sheikh and the first WTC bombing case. He has worked hard at the subject of Islamic terrorism and knows the substance and mechanics of all this.

My only observation about him is that he appears to simply lose his way whenever his beloved judicial institutions and former colleagues beclown themselves. Started with Fitzgerald (Libby fiasco). In his latest at NRO, he twists himself into a pretzel to come up with a bizarre way to "save" the Mueller operation - more to the point, for Rosenstein to save *his* credibility, after indefensibly creating the Mueller thing in the first place.

Posted by: mrp at February 08, 2018 01:09 PM (Pqytn)

Here's the thing:

I'm one of those nutty mcnutbar civil libertarians who believe that the NSA, et al., should not have the powers they do because those power will be abused and that the FISA courts are a horrific mess of flat out rubber stamping of anything the DOJ and FBI wishes.

That being said, I do comprehend the need for closed door procedures by which sensitive national security matters can be discussed and investigations can be undertaken without the target of those investigations discovering this by the very simple matter of having someone monitor dockets. I am open to discussions on how best to weigh the practical difficulties with the importance of the Fourth Amendment in its strong original form, not the watered down version that we have now.

And then this crap happens and I throw my hands in the air because, seriously, people, seriously? And when the how dare you attack the FBI brigade starts up, why should I try to be a reasonable adult?

Grrr.

There is no substantive response. So no excuses for McCarthy. He understands the substance as well as anyone but simply refuses to consider that institutions and people he knows are variously criminal, stupid, unfit, etc. Whatever. He's useful for technical tidbits but otherwise is to be disregarded.

All the protesting really does make me wonder how deep are they into all of these scandals.
Posted by: Martell at February 08, 2018 01:32 PM (ioTKK)

I don't think the Bushes are involved in any of these scandals. What they are however is an elitist, Patrician family who believe themselves fit and entitled to rule. And they probably don't think we can handle all the ramifications of the Clinton and Obama scandals and believe it would be better if we didn't find out....

Bannion has abandoned us for that whore Twitter.

427 Alexchick: there was a story last summer of the nameless one flying off to Europe (on his non-profits dime) to buy some fake documents about Trump.

"And ANYWHERE that might lead" is the key part. That means in person in the country, basically. It gave Mueller an excuse to attack whomever they wanted.

ALL the evidence actually led to Hillary, Podesta ... AND Mueller surely knew they were the instigators. Yet (at least publicly) he voraciously attacked Trump's people, including family where he would gain most leverage over POTUS.

From the outside at least he seems to be working as deep state operative ... MAYBE he went after Podesta, hard to say.

Posted by: Willie Nailher at February 08, 2018 01:51 PM (DYDUy)

433 You are probably right. But he kept quiet for years when he was attacked by the leftist scum. Now he speaks to attack Trump and his policies. I don't recall Bush speaking up for America and Americans in the same way Trump speaks up for us. Bush certainly has not raised his voice for the 26 year old NFL player killed by an illegal. Yet, he stands there high up on his pedestal telling us the same old tired lies that we need illegals or dreamers or whatever the namedujour elitists deem to call these invaders.
Look, it took my family nine years to be able to migrate legally to this country, and six more to become American citizens. I pay the college tuition for my kids who are born in this country to attend college. These elitist maggots give free tuition or in state tuition to their dreamers.
The Bushes and all the elitists on the right and on the left can go f*ck themselves. These are the times when the guillotine sounds like a good option.

434 Don't worry so much about Rosenstein. He is actually the one with the problem. If he does anything to save himself or Billary, obstruction of justice charges loom. If he resigns, people will think that he is dirty. In essence, even if he is dirty and a Hillary mole, he is forced to do the right thing to avoid jail himself. Every day has to be getting worse as the OIG looks over his shoulder which Rosenstein has no control over and the terror that his name will be in the OIG report. The tide is coming in and Rosenstein ain't King Canute.

What he has to hope is the Mueller has something other than process crimes (if RR is dirty which appears increasingly likely) and that appears increasingly doubtful.

I love to joke about these splashfests because it just seems like the most ludicrous stretch of the imagination, it just discredits itself. The claim pwns itself!

And the Dems/media _still_ don't get why Trump was elected. They haven't come up with a "smart take" convoluted enough to overcome their ignorance of the lives and concerns of _normal_ people.

439 If half of the crap reported was presented to the FISA judge was true, and the judge hasn't already brought them back in front of him for a detailed explanation, there is only one conclusion: the FISA judge is also a Trump hater exactly like the corrupt FBI officials we know about.

This judge has been lied to, pretty blatantly at that.

We either hear something soon or we know the Judge is crooked, too.

442 Pay attention to Michael Cohen's appearance in the dossier. Just before applying for the warrant, Steele sent more memos, confirming the Carter Page meeting with another source and discussing Michael Cohen as a big player who met in Prague with Russians.

Key is there was a different Michael Cohen with the same birthday who traveled at that time. Someone had to look in a database to get details on Michael Cohen's travel to put in this fake memo, for the FBI to 'verify'. Who did this? Did the FBI assign an agent to verify this detail, and have that agent come back and say it was a different Michael Cohen with the same birthday, a clear sign they were being set up, but the FBI higherups ignored it?
