When adults break the law and punished for it, if they have kids those kids will suffer because of the actions of their parents.
That does not mean that we should not enforce laws. This does not mean that the children are themselves being punished for anything. Any pain suffered by the family is unfortunate, but blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the parent. And if the parent was setting such a shitty example, those kids might be better off away from his influence in the long run.

I've looked at that story, and mysteriously get the sense that there is stuff that The Media Is Not Telling Us.
We are assured that the guy hasn't even gotten a speeding ticket in the last thirty years, yet mysteriously got a removal order in 2009, which he had put off until now through various appeals.
So, why did the guy get a deportation order in 2009? Judging from cases in my neck of the woods, I suspect that he had been deported earlier, illegally returned to the United States, and got a removal order because of the prior deportation order. It's also unclear how he was allowed to appeal the removal order for eight years.
I don't believe the "he was living quietly in the United States, pure as the driven snow, for twenty years, and then mysteriously got a removal order for no reason" story.
But ICE needs to really up their PR efforts - they needed to have a spokesperson available to explain 1) why the guy got a deportation order in 2009; 2) why is he being deported now; and 3) what criminal record he has in the United States, if any. He doesn't have a privacy right that would keep the US government from disclosing his criminal record and immigration violations.
Even if the media won't cover it, conservative blogs and media would.
ICE is getting killed, PR-wise, allowing these "Modern-Day Saint Cruelly Being Deported" stories, without rebutting them.

Yes, that change in reporting went in to effect in '09 or '10 i believe. They never counted the "turned back at border" people before because deportation usually means "went to court and was ordered to leave" and there's a case file and legal proceedings and all of that.
And of course, "turned back at the border" is always going to be a very unscientific number.
"We dissuaded a bunch of people about to cross the border by rolling up on them in our truck. As soon as they saw us, they sprinted back across the border."
"How many people were there?"
"ehhh... 15 or 20 probably."

That said, we need a complete halt on all immigration for at least 25 years, preferably 40 and with it a complete cessation of everything and anything bilingual, a cutting off of Uncle Sugar and the severe prosecution of anyone knowingly hiring illegal aliens.

Last weekend I spent an hour or so reading a write up someone did on the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire back in 1911. They were using poor immigrant females and of course the building was a code violation nightmare. Place caught on fire and a lot of the ladies had to jump. More of them burned up inside.
They had witness accounts and some remembrances of people who survived and I noticed a couple of them talked about sending money back home to Europe to the family.
It's been going on for a long time. I imagine there were people who weren't happy about it back then, but in this case these weren't illegals. Just poor immigrants who were newly minted citizens or children of immigrants. Regardless they had citizenship. Illegals I could care less about. I'd take the remittances if I was in charge.

We had no immigration from the 20's until 1965. I do not want a 40 year ban. I want some real numbers. Less than 30% on welfare or other aid. Greater than 60% proficient in English. Same for citizenship.

In my experience (granted, totally anecdotal), black people aren't very political, and just tend to vote D because that's what they know, that's what all the big figures in the "black community" do and because R's are all racist, duh.

Hence, the opportunity for PDT to get his message out as only he can. There's no one else that can do it. I think he has to make the effort. The fate of Black America touches on so many socioeconomic issues in the Trump agenda that he can kill multiple birds with one stone. Especially immigration, illegal and legal.

I agree. I saw him live during his run up to the Netflix special, and he was very even and direct. His "trump sucks" is just easy cover to keep the Uncle Tom smears away. He kept eyeballing me for his usual "mixed race couple in the audience" bit, but went for an easier Asian/white target on the other side of the theater.

I remember a high school in south Phoenix that years ago was 1/3 white,
1/3 mexican, and 1/3 black. (it's probably 90 mexican now) I remember
the white kids used to hide out in the AP classes and get their parents
to drop them off and pick them up, while the black and mexican kids
would be out fightin' each other for turf every afternoon.
