I don't know if that's true but it would not surprise me. These are women who truly were damaged and wounded, truly were victims, and would have been very disruptive and problematic for the show.

On a completely unrelated topic: holy hell, Fire and Fury is a crazy book. Yes, I know they're trying to maximize the Trump is insane defense, but I'm starting to wonder if Wolff is under contract from Trump himself. Anecdotes like Murdoch cautiously warning Trump not to sell out his base on H1Bs are clear indicators the author has no clue, none, who he is writing about. Portraying Melania as upset that Trump won and traumatized by her nudes being online are utterly slimy and hilariously outdated.
But one thing is clear. That piece of shit Bannon deserves a co author credit. At least half the book focuses on him to some degree, starting with the very first chapter alongside Roger Ailes. I don't know how much of the Bannon anecdotes represent his true thoughts, but the hate on for Jared and Ivanka- plus the seething contempt for his boss' intelligence- makes my opinion of Bannon plummet. No wonder Trump wants him broken. Bitch is done in federal politics, and good riddance.

Having seen the movie, I googled the Golden Globes results and was actually impressed that they recognized two great actors and a great script turned film. I seldom recommend movies. But this is the exception. The McDonagh brothers are truly talented script writers and makers of movies. They do their own movies separately but share a lot of the same actors. Check them out. Its January and soon to be February, what else do you have to do?

And there never was a blacklist. Ever. Hollywood never had a list of people that they banned. They had people that they stopped using for work (except under assumed names) but no list they shared and agreed upon. It was bad business to hire an open communist at the time, not some conspiracy to destroy them.
These were bad people who were deliberately using their position as screenwriters etc to promote communism, even if just a little bit at a time.

Sasse is a good guy, very strong on the constitution, very conservative. His problem is that he's horrified by what President Trump was like in the past and how he talks now, and is repelled by that as a very strong Christian.
Sasse needs someone to sit down and talk to him about how God sometimes uses people who don't like to accomplish His work, and that we should support what he does right and only criticize what he does wrong, not him as a person or office holder simply because of personality problems.

I am just as ill hearing about how all black people do this or that as I am hearing how all white people have some kind of privilege.
Had a leftie coworker who told me it isn't possible for a black person to succeed in this country because of racism. He, of course, was a skinny white idiot who owed many thousands of dollars for his college degree in, get this, photography. He was working for minimum wage at the time.
When I asked him about the 75% of blacks who did NOT live below the poverty line, he told me that was just government propaganda.
Talk about racism--that's it right there.
Can't people just be successful or fail all on their own initiative any more? Or does it have to be somebody else's fault all of the time?
Because if not, then how come there are so many more poor white folks than poor black folks in this country? (See, even I can use bullshit statistics to make spurious points.)

There was a 1950 film originally called "Try and Get Me!" (later re-released and still known as "The Sound of Fury") that the DVD box billed as a "film noir," but it turned out to be a B-movie melodrama about a psychotic murderer who killed someone with the help of a hapless fellow small-time crook and then is caught, thrown in jail, and then a lynch mob tries to kill them as the mob suspects they will get set free on a technicality. OK, fine. (Based on a true story, apparently). But in the film, there's this completely unnecessary side character, some sort of effete European professor, who shows up every now and then and pompously denounced America as a nation of brutish cavemen who demand mob justice because of their ignorant base instincts.
I thought, "What the hell? This character seems to be a mouthpiece for the director to speak his mind to the audience. It was like an anti-American narration thrown in there for no reason, because it had nothing to do with the plot, other than to say, "Remember, audience, the purpose of this film is to feel bad about awful American society is. Don't get carried away by the action or the drama! Keep in mind this is a condemnation of America!"
Suspicious, I looked up the film online, and yup, sure enough, the director (Cyril Endfield) was shortly thereafter outed as a communist and then blacklisted in Hollywood. (He went to England and continued making films there instead.)
I somehow knew, just from watching the film, that it was made by a soon-to-be-blacklisted communist.
Compared to the overt America-hating corrosiveness of many modern politicized film it was pretty mild, but the anti-American propaganda was there, deeply embedded, in the films of those on the blacklist in the early '50s.
