NFL Cancels Final Sunday Night Game of Season

Well, the game isn't cancelled exactly; rather, its Sunday night airing time is. The NFL uses some kind of "flex time" system to change the kickoff times of Sunday games so that they put the best game available on Sunday night.

This year they're not bothering to move any games into the Sunday night slot.

It's New Years Eve -- when few people watch anyway -- and the only games they could move have little interest for fans.

And also, people are just kind of sick of the NFL.

The kind of interesting thing to me is how it happened:

The players shot themselves and everyone in the NFL in the foot. However, if it had not been the kneeling, would it have been something else? Kapernick is just a symptom of the disease.

Could be I'm imagining this, but I think that back whenever the San Jose Sharks franchise started, they had more black in their uniforms than any other pro sports team. Interestingly, their merchandise sales broke records, and were not just regional.

I think that is when the marketing folks noticed - and check out the number of all teams in all sports, pro and not, who now have some or lots of black in their colors, where they didn't before.

San Diego State is one of the few teams that's had mostly black uniforms for decades. They didn't change theirs much.

No linebackers over 230 lb.
No running backs over 210 lb.

The NFL players have gotten so YUGE, they are killing each other. There are so many players coming out of college every year, there would be plenty of guys that would and could play in a weight-limited league.

And it might just be entertaining. Back in the 60's, offensive linemen actually got out and ran in power sweeps, and did downfield blocking. Watch some of Jim Brown's great runs, and he actually had linemen running downfield with him.

Each of the teams needs to win their own game, as well as have the "help" of a particular team in one of the other two games played at the same time, in order to make the playoffs.

So it is a scheduling thing to make sure that all three games have maximum effort, since as the players are playing they won't know the outcome of the other two games.

This. The utter contempt the players and owners hold the customers is pretty damning. That they pay for their lavish lifestyles, while ignoring their many criminal acts, was kind of the poke in the eye people needed to see the league for what it was.

People were in love with the NFL for what they thought it was: competition, hometown pride, excellence, meritocracy in it's highest form, watching it with their Dad's, Grandpa's and Uncles. Remembering moments like "The Catch".

All the players did was lift the cloak obscuring us from seeing what the NFL actually is: an overweight, thuggish jackass who hates you and feels that YOU OWE HIM YOUR MONEY.

Thanks. I had my third one this morning, and mentioned to the doctor that the psoriasis I already had has been acting up. He said that this medication can make it worse, and to keep using the cream I had earlier been prescribed by a dermatologist.

The psoriasis comes and goes and flares up periodically. I don't know whether the current flareup is due to the cancer treatment or just a coincidence.

They genuinely couldn't stand seeing America enjoying football as our most popular national sport. They hated seeing the flag and the military flyovers. They also hated the distinctive masculinity inherent in the game.

If they succeed in poisoning the college game, they will succeed in their efforts to move us into a Pajama Boy culture of weeping, useless beta-males.
