2 Good Morning Morons; today is Saturday, December 23, 2017. On this day in 1783 George Washington resigned as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army at the Maryland State House in Annapolis, Maryland. He had been urged by supporters to seize power and become the national leader (remember this was before the constitution and there was no President). But he refused such an act.

65 I haven't looked to see how the tax bill affects us. We have so many medical expenses (son #1's private school tuition counts as medical bc it's a school for autism and he can't get those services in the public schools) that we will be itemizing deductions for 2017. It sounds like there are new limits on how much you can itemize (which TBH makes sense to me), so maybe we are not benefiting? I dunno. Either way, I'm still in favor bc we will benefit indirectly for sure.

I think what really needs to happen is tax code simplification. To put it in terms liberals can understand, our extremely complicated tax code is itself a regressive tax because the burden of compliance is disproportionately high for lower- and middle-class people.

*rereads last sentence* OK, maybe liberals can't understand that after all. Hmm...

What has happened is largely what you seem to want.

For all but a very few, any limitations on deductions are offset by a consolidation and increase in the personal deduction/exemption and child care credit.

In short, for many people it won't be worth it to file the longer tax return, because the same or better advantage can be had through that change without itemizing.

For people in high tax areas, that is the big change. as I don't live in one, I pay little attention.

It appears that even the 1040EZ form for 2018 will have two or three fewer lines. Baby steps.

People are shocked, SHOCKED that the cockamamie school tax that was, per the propaganda released by the schools, only going to increase your taxes by on millionth of a percent based on the base rate of your home value amortized over the last 10 years is going to be "only" an increase of x for each 1000 dollars of the value of the house and what we think its' worth so suck it chumps, now going to cost them and additional 800 bucks on their taxes.

Schools are about teachers and administrators. The new super here in TLH basically said that after he won. We will take care of teachers and admins first, then they will take better care of kids. What a load of crap. Why don't we build big cafeterias and send the poor there to eat? Nope, we send the EBT and food stamps. Why dont we build clinics and hospitals for old people and round them up with police forces to make them go there for health care? nope, we give them medicare and medicaid. Public schools are absolutely crazy.

117 First of all - the only reason that Libs want foreigners in the country is for their votes. My ultra leftist sister-in-law admitted that when I confronted her about it. Trust me - all the ultra elitists don't want a bunch of Hispanics or Blacks around them - but the votes are critical to keeping power so Libs "tolerate" them.

Always point out to Libs that they would have had Hillary as President if not for the fact that they had aborted so many potential Black voters over the years it swung the election. Point out that they can either kill Black babies or they can win elections - but they can't do both. This causes a Lib to go into a brain lock as their inherent racism forces them to try to decide which goal they want more.

It is very interesting how the number of children a couple wants (or needs) has changed from 100 or so years ago. Used to be couples tried to have many children in order to make money. Farmers and small business owners needed low-low-low cost labor, and the more children, the more acres you could work or the more dresses or shirts you could make and sell. And high infant mortality also meant trying to have many children.

Nowadays, children are a huge cost to middle and working class families, so there's no longer an economic incentive for most couples to have a lot of children.

Frankly, considering the record of the old world, it can and perhaps will one day die in a fire.

I really appreciate them for the English shows and movies. We went to see Dunkirk when it came out. We probably missed some of the dialogue because those goofy bastards were speaking English. When the DVD shows up at the library, we'll get it and watch it again. With CC

The best mis-captioning I have seen was an American film captioned in Hungarian. The Hungarian language caption writer mistook two English homonyms.

Countless Hungarians were led to believe that if a young man took a fancy to a girl in the Old West, he brought her flour.

183 Out of curiosity, are all the recipes in The Deplorable Gourmet from non published sources? When Bluebell was aggressively bugging people for recipes and I was thinking "fuck, I hope she doesn't bother me", which she didn't, the major reason was almost everything I cook I got from one cookbook or another. Mother Hate was a terrible cook; I used to envy starving Koreans who weren't exposed to her slop. She was surprisingly good on crab cakes and spaghetti sauce from scratch but try to live solely on that. Once by fucking around I created a good beef stew recipe as a way to use up a leftover beef roast that was too small to otherwise base a full meal on; but it's nothing that wasn't intuitive to anybody at all adept at cooking.

192 Always point out to Libs that they would have had Hillary as President if not for the fact that they had aborted so many potential Black voters over the years it swung the election. Point out that they can either kill Black babies or they can win elections - but they can't do both.

========

It takes two to tango. Black mothers voluntarily enter these clinics to get abortions. Makes me wonder, if these are government funded, why not require that the abortion be followed by sterilization? Reduces cost and reduces the number of abortions.

194 WHADDYA MEAN "AGGRESSIVELY BUGGING PEOPLE FOR RECIPES?"

Actually, it seems that the majority of recipes we got were ones that had started out from somewhere and had been tinkered with. There were some from old cookbooks or websites, but as long as we changed the wording some AND gave proper attribution (which is why we asked where the recipes were from) our attorney said we would be okay.

I loved hearing about the old family recipes especially. You could just tell people had happy memories wrapped up in those recipes and it made me happy too.
