The proper approach toward President Trump is to be glad of him vs the alternative, and to be at least neutral toward him unless he does wrong.
Instead, they despise him and grudgingly will give slight credit if he does right, as if somehow he's a foe they can't stand approving of.
This proves to me, at least, that their allegiance is not toward conservatism nor toward America... but toward their little clique, their tribe. They have an elite and a view of things which Trump disrupts more than President Hillary Clinton would have.

The proper approach toward President Trump is to be glad of him vs the alternative, and to be at least neutral toward him unless he does wrong.
Instead, they despise him and grudgingly will give slight credit if he does right, as if somehow he's a foe they can't stand approving of.
This proves to me, at least, that their allegiance is not toward conservatism nor toward America... but toward their little clique, their tribe. They have an elite and a view of things which Trump disrupts more than President Hillary Clinton would have.

I suspect, but don't have any real evidence for the belief, that this means we're in a transition period to... something else.
I mean the left no longer is really even the left. They've abandoned pretty much everything they used to fight for, hold to, argue in support of, and seek. They don't even really want leftist ideas any more. They just want power and control, they want a new feudalism where the get all the stuff they want, and a permanent underclass serves them and provides for them.
The right doesn't really stand for what it used to, either. Patriotism, national identity, virtue, constitution, all of it is being set aside and squabbles over who gets to call the shots are all that really matters. We have a president who is nationalistic, but wants to heavily regulate international trade with isolationism. We have a congress that wants lower taxes, but hates nationalism. We have a republican Party that doesn't really seem to comprehend what they even stand for except "not that guy."
What happens next? I don't have the slightest clue. I just have a sinking suspicion that its not good. I think we're in a slight pause before things really go badly. But I've felt that for over a decade now. Maybe its just me.

My understanding is just the deduction for state income tax (SALT?) is being eliminated.
Politically, I'm surprised they went after this as there's very little room for error and all it takes is 1-2 Senators to walk and the whole thing falls apart.

Both are good long-term economic policy, but adoption can cause sharp short-term pricing dislocations. The first would be felt across the country, but would be more severe in places with high home prices -- the suburbs of Blue Cities. The second would hit Blue States.
I live in a Blue State in a suburb of a Blue City. It'd be like calling in an artillery strike on my own position, but I'm for it either or both.

From my perspective, if you are a landowner, you have a vested interest in the place where you live. Town, county, state, country. You should pay taxes and have a right to vote based on that. Seizing your home is just proof that you don't really own it. Its unAmerican at the core, proving that there is no right to property in this nation.
We need a team of hot shot lawyers, a foundation whose only purpose is to go and challenge this crap in courts and get it wiped out. One by one, go after every loss of liberty and get the Supreme Court to look at them. At worst, nothing changes. At best, we gain back a little freedom.

Right, I have no problem with the concept of paying taxes. that's not unreasonable. Its one of those slight concessions to civilization that you give, at a small loss of liberty. But the payment should not be attached to ownership of your home. The state should not be able to take your property for failure to pay taxes. We can't have a nation, or neighborhoods, or any kind of culture if we don't have at least a minimum of government, and to do that, we have to have some amount of taxation.
Its the social contract: we give up a slight amount of non essential free exercise of our rights in order to gain a large amount of stability, safety, and civilization. Its just when that proportion gets out of control that we have problems.
