But SOME analysts predicted 10%, so Trump fell far short. Epic failure.

Simple question: What were the revisions for the 2nd and 1st quarter that always come with these? Because under Obama it was always a case that the current quarter growth was positive and usually right around the predicted percentage, or it was lower "But its still positive growth!!!! Recovery Summer is here!!" But the revisions always kept dropping. So what are they doing now?

The really BIG story is that after SEVENTEEN CONSECUTIVE YEARS of decline in the Labor Participation Rate -- it has flatlined. Neither rising or falling. A little nudge of a tax cut should move it upwards once again. It's a damn shame that our Senators have to check the polling numbers to see if that benefits *them* before voting. I try not to hate, but it's tough sometimes. Posted by: Ace Tractor Seat Supply at October 27, 2017 04:52 PM (ajiE5) Posted by: simplemind at October 27, 2017 04:52 PM (T8AHw) 27

It really does now look like President Donald J. Trump, and markets are plunging. When might we expect them to recover? Frankly, I find it hard to care much, even though this is my specialty. The disaster for America and the world has so many aspects that the economic ramifications are way down my list of things to fear. Still, I guess people want an answer: If the question is when markets will recover, a first-pass answer is never. My extremely limited observation, admittedly, but the strip mall a few blocks from my house now only has one empty front (it's right next to a bar so kinda makes sense), but they're building a new structure on a spot of empty land and it looks like room for at least one more business.
Again, it's just a limited observation. There were businesses in the building, but a few more filled up after Trump and now they're expanding. Posted by: Dack Thrombosis at October 27, 2017 04:58 PM (4ErVI) 58

The "New Normal" was a Narrative created by the Alt-Left and Fake News to help obama. They didn't expect obama to succeed, so they told everyone the "new economy" will produce a "new normal," i.e., lousy unemployment, lousy growth, inflation, etc. Bush ruined the world economy forever, they told us. There is no way that the US Economy will ever grow at greater than 3% anymore.
They actually said this. remember the "NEW NORMAL?" Posted by: Soothsayer -- Fake Commenter at October 27, 2017 05:03 PM (6Gh+K) That was "green shoots" with a roaring 1.15% "growth". Frankly, I still say that you have to take government deficit spending out, first, before you make any calculations of "growth". I mean, you really can't borrow and spend $5 and then claim $2 in "growth". This ain't rocket surgery. That said, Trump has certainly gotten things pared down to such an extent that the economy is doing orders of magnitude better than it ever could have under the commie retard, Barky, but we are going to need 6% REAL growth to have any chance to outrun the looming monetary disaster that was built up over the last decade like nobody's business. REAL growth - growth after feral deficit spending is removed. We're headed that way but we have a long, long way to go and not very much time to get there. The first time that the Reagan economy created ONE MILLION NEW JOBS in ONE MONTH I said, 'Holy Shit!' If those cretins in the Senate would normalize tax rates back to year 2000 and cut rates on the poorest, they'd be reelected in a landslide. My Gawd are they dumb as a sack of shit. So under the previous administration 3 hurricanes would be the reason that growth was only 1.2% ... which must mean last quarters growth would have been more like 4 or 5 % otherwise, right ?
But no, wait, I forgot, 3% now is an indication of how poorly the economy is doing. Ooops. /sarc Posted by: sock_rat_eez, we are being gaslighted 24/7 at October 27, 2017 05:28 PM (Ktb8D) 210

There was a new something before the housing bubble imploded. Krugman predicting new and permanent lows because Trump. And they wonder why we don't give a shit about their expertise?

https://pjmedia.com/instapundit/279437/ Posted by: steevy at October 27, 2017 05:23 PM (rmVvL) ======== This is so bizarre considering that Lawrence O'Donnell and Chris Matthews are Irish. I think the author must be doing penance. One day he was watching Waters or Wilson ranting about something and thought "why are so many black Democrat politicians loudmouths?" Then he felt really guilty for observing it, so he is ritualistically atoning for that sin by making some generalization about a conservative white male demographic. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at October 27, 2017 05:03 PM (39g3+) ------------------------------------ Hebrew. Someone here pointed that out back when he was appointed. You ever hear of the violinist Yehudi Menuhin? Same last name apparently, except Menuhin puts the vowels in the first two syllables, just for us Indo-Yurpeans what likes vowels. Okay, Czechs don't like 'em. But most of us do. So IIRC it would be pronounced like Menuhin. The C denotes an aspirated H but I assume Mehuhin left it out because he knew we'd pronounce the last syllable like "chin.") Posted by: Margarita DeVille at October 27, 2017 05:42 PM (0jtPF) 243
does anyone remember Obama his henchmen changing the way the economic data is calculated, including unemployment numbers?
Oh yeah. Lemme see if I can remember without looking: Inflation numbers no longer counted food or gasoline or heating oil, or pretty much anything we normals spend money on to keep a household running. If you couldn't find one of those "job" thingys after a certain length of time, you didn't count as being unemployed. U-6 went through the roof as a result and never ever got mentioned in any UE stats. Those are just the highlights, but there was more. Thank goodness the Obama Emfvckening is over.
