1 Good Morning Morons today is Sunday, October 15, 2017. On this day in 1764 Edward Gibbon had a nice cup of mead while watching a group of friars singing in the ruined Temple of Jupiter in Rome. In a drunken stupor he began work on The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. Now I may have made some of that up.

3 Matt Gaetz at Fox News thinks the NFL still gets tax breaks, or his headline does even though the article talks about a different break. No the NFL does not get tax breaks. But they do get free stadiums built. But that isn't the NFL. That is crony corruption for the owners of teams and it isn't a tax break. If local tax payers want their money going to corrupt billionaires they will continue to vote in corrupt Democrats.

that EMP thing, I don't know any tech details for sure. It does seem we are vulnerable, but I doubt the Norks will try it, and are probably not capable at the moment. Long ago, when the shooting of some sub-station in CA almost caused a wider blackout, there was talk of being able to at least protect ??? certain transformers or something, I forget, at a less than astronomical price.

The military industrial complex does like to suck us dry, but it does seem important to remain the superpower, while most of the world is becoming more thuggish, not less. When Obama doubled the debt, he was handing out money to incompetent leftist friends and enemies like Iran. The rebuilding of the military is always left to Republicans. Looks like it is the same with infrastructure ... and health care, and welfare state ... man, 60-100 years of commie infiltration has inserted some bad policy at many levels.

The left has always said "perception is reality."

What this has meant is that their perception was forced to be our reality. Now however that is reversing and our perception is now their reality. This is what the "rectification of names" is. Bringing perception and reality together. It's been "a long time coming" and is "only just begun."

The reason for the swift casting out of a man that was notorious pig and psychotic sexual predator was that it became publically known and it was apparent everyone in Whoreywood knew about and now these people are embarrassed.

The larger scandal in all of this is the absolute corruption of the NY AGs office.

That's been exposed as well so there's another reason for the reactions we're seeing.

And as I understand it, the only possible way to "make a living" gambling in casinos is by counting cards-though you'll eventually get caught and blacklisted- at blackjack tables (as in the movie "21") - certainly not video poker.

There's people who are savants -- previously referred to as 'idiot savants' who have amazing mental abilities. If you saw the movie 'Rain Man' you'll remember Dustin Hoffman reciting the names and numbers from the phone book he had picked up.

My thinking, based on shooter having worked for both the IRS and as an accountant, that he had some special abilities with numbers. Which gambling is.

But it's not a normal mind. It's not a friendly mind. I've met and spent some time with a savant. It's not something I ever want to do again.

I play this stupid 'Free Cell' game sometimes. I win every time. My current streak is 1,293 games. The shooter only had to win about 51% of the time to make money. Or pick up some pattern and up his ante on selected hands.

105 This is a repeat of an earlier thread comment.

Again, I do not worry about EMP. I'm probably the most experienced here on its effects. Did some real world tests with a unique testing apparatus. Wrote a few articles back in the day in a specialized magazine and newsletters. Some are even declassified. The Navy used the test data results.

Getting the Compton electrons to have a high field strength, fast rise time EM field is difficult, especially for the NOKs. There is a limit to the area affected with high field strength EMP. I'll leave it at that.

We test our electronics with lightning every year. The EM field from lightning has a rise time of 100 nanoseconds, vice an EMP rise time of 10 nanoseconds. But the actual power is very low, comparable to a spark from your hand to the doorknob after walking on a rug in the winter.

The big issue is coupling the energy of EMP to the device. Wiring geometry is an issue. And the only thing that is vulnerable is silicon-based electronics where the coupled energy in a fast rise time burns out a chip or circuit. A mechanical link is not touched by EMP.

I worry more about Leftists in government.

Interesting. I don't know how money laundering works, but how does
losing money at a casino launder money if you're not winning anything.
It's just losing money then isn't it?
.
.
.All Casinos are used to launder money, that's why the Fed put those reporting rules into effect.

When we lived in CT we went to the Mohegan Sun casino and you could tell when when the "money movers" came by because there would be a big pile of discard pre paid Credit cards in the trash by the ATM machine.

They would buy up tons of those cards with their drug money and cash them in when they wanted cash. They don't care they are only getting 90 cents on the dollar because they can't use banks due to the reporting requirements.

About California banning the sale of pet store cats and dogs. Not really sure about the cats, but dogs have been banned for pet store sales here for a long time. Maybe not legally banned, but pet stores won't sell them, and here's why that's a good thing.

Puppy mills. Those dogs you see in pet stores are bred from puppy mills. They are sick, they have malformations and diseases that are pften not detected until you have paid $1500 for a "Malt-Poo" which happens to be a mutt raised in a filthy cage by a sick mother who has had 4 litters that year. I am glad they are shutting that stuff down.

Not sure why cats and rabbits though. I don't think rabbits come out of a rabbit mill. Don't know enough about it to say. But puppies? - oh yeah. Shut that factory down.

But $5M profit? That had to be a tax accounting thing, and the only reason claim that as income is to launder dirty money. He was an IRS guy, knew how it worked. It would seem the casino would be required to track how much money was coming in from a gambler. Maybe there are limits for recording, like if he buys in under $5K at a time or something. So he stays under the limit, but cashes out when he gets over maybe $10K at a time, and claims that.

Maybe he was selling guns, or maybe he was laundering for someone else, or maybe his Daddy left him a box with $40M in marked bills in it.

I dunno about that. First, it assumes that absolutely everything electronic or run by electricity, throughout the entire nation, would be impossible to repair or replace.

Second, while people who were dependent upon electrically operated apparatus (e.g. ventilators) to survive, or who required major surgery or other sophisticated medical interventions (dialysis), would probably die, why would reasonably healthy people who weren't currently dependent upon prescription meds or other complex measures to survive also die? I suppose the assumption is they would all starve to death because the food supply chain would be interrupted, but I'd think there would be ways to get around that, even if you just had to forage for canned goods or eat grass for a while.

Hospitals have back up generators which would not be affected if they were shutdown at the time of the blast. They and people on ventilators (and similar) are at the top of the list for power restoration following an outage.

Two cards are considered in this version of the game. While a royal flush comprised of one or more wild cards pays 125 credits, a natural royal flush is far more valuable with a 4000-coin payout. Using a simple strategy on the full-pay version of this game yields an expected return of 100.71%, which means the player actually has an advantage over the house.

How are you going to have fuel delivered when the pumps to put fuel
into the truck aren't working? Gravity feed? Hand pumps filling up a 200
gallon fuel tank? Okay. Now try that with 8,000 gallons to deliver to a
hospital.

Posted by: Slippery Slope Salesman at October 15, 2017 08:44 AM (EgwCt)

There are a number of fuel services located usually within 200 miles of of any place that would need emergency fuel delivered. We have a distribution center here in Charlotte. The problem would be the high number of places who would need delivery. But that is offset by the amount of fuel that the sites keep in standby. We had a 20,000 gal tank for the main backup generators and a 5,000 gal tank for a smaller generator. That was supposed to be enough for 7 days at full load on the generator. And the generator would not be a full load anyway.

yeah, definitely the leftists ... but in the meantime the rest can't be left vulnerable. That is what is insidious about guys like Obama that (with help no doubt) destroy our capabilities from within. obama, the first prez raised by actual Soviet era card carrying commies.

But on the EMP, it is the damage to the silicon chips that is the issue. They run so much now. Would vehicles run if they were subjected to a strong EMP? I'm guess the electronic ignition may have a chip controlling it ... or combines and heavy equipment, the transportation system including air traffic?

173 Just wanted to share a "God-incidence" (something that non believers would call a coincidence) that happened yesterday. Our town had a fair to support the local food bank and our church had a table. I suggested an idea and my husband made up yellow tee shirts-"Need Prayer? Just ask" with the name of our church underneath it. We had some pamphlets and devotional books to give out We also had a prayer request box. We did not have the fancy funds or volunteers that the large community church (formerly called Baptist) gave out (Their booth was next to ours) but we did have some nice conversations and meaningful prayers with people in need of prayer, and I enjoyed talking with the community church volunteers.

At any rate, there was a man who stopped by my office during this past week. He hadn't called first and I wasn't there, but the wonderful church pianist was, and they had a nice conversation. He was a Gideon. He was looking to pray with pastors.
The pianist told him to come back yesterday at our booth and he did, but I had to go home for something while other people manned the table.
When I came back I parked at the church and who should be coming up the driveway to get his car-the Gideon and his wife!. We had a great conversation and he prayed with me. If I hadn't been there at that time we would have missed each other. What a great couple! Thanks be to God for that "God incidence."

Most "modern", sort of - all have a "limp home" mode that allows the vehicle to operate, albeit not very well if the BCM/ECM craps out.

The weak power of an EMP event must be gathered and distributed to have the effect on electronics. That depends on wires or other unshielded metal objects catching the energy and then flowing to the electronics.

A 50 KV EMP field strength sounds big, but it only last for nanoseconds, so not a lot of energy in the pulse.

In one of my test I was outside and close for every pulse, at max power. Set a very minor but secret world record then.

My digital watch blanked and reset every pulse. But I was fine. No really. Just do not ask my wife.

Dems have basically been running a "mafia" in the US with a strong socail justice narrative always providing cover. To me that is what communism really is ... organized crime that has control of government. The people are just tools to feed the machine.

That is why it is so significant that Holder supplied guns to cartels, that Lynch oversaw the (at least, that we know of) $2B of money laundering by HSBC, and that international bankers pressured our government to give them a pass (and they got it, even as our prosecutors had the case won).

And that is why I think Comey/Rosenstein/Mueller are nothing but corrupt "mob hit men", but their hits are with their unlimited investigative powers, instead of straight murder (though straight murder does seem to be in the bag of tricks of the Dem mob).

214 Look. Damn it. The NFL is not an "American institution." The NFL is and has always been the Harvey Weinstein of consumer sports. "We" should have never allowed them to start playing the national anthem at their gladiations.

And "our" power grid, is, not. Government-controlled electric rates were deliberately misdirected to link us all up into a great brotherhood of losers. When the first famous grid failure happened in 1965, the grid had Niagara Falls (no, MORON, it's not "Niagra" because it rhymes with Viagra) on one end and New York City on the other, because NYC is an energy black hole that you could pour the rest of the US into and still come up dim. And that was so much fun, we decided we all wanted to be like that!

And so, even though in the 60's every city or county had its own generation plant and "grid" was accomplished with great big Frankenstein switches with a burly operatin' engineer wearing bib overalls manning it, we went right to work destroying that interference-proof distributed economy and replacing it at vast expense with a transistorized funnel leading to the precious East Coast. And now a tree branch in Akron can put the lights out in DC. What an accomplishment. We can put a man on the Moon, and shoot ourselves in both feet too.
