1 Good Morning Morons: Today is Saturday, September 30, 2017. On this day in 1882 Thomas Edison's first commercial hydroelectric power plant (later known as Appleton Edison Light Company) began operation on the Fox River in Appleton, Wisconsin. The plant burned to the ground in 1891. This early generating plant produced a massive 12.5KW and had no voltage regulator. Operators controlled voltage by observing the brightness of electric bulbs in the building.

2 All WH staff must now get permission to fly government owned, rented, leased or chartered aircraft except the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defense. I guess Devos is exempt too because she flies in her own aircraft at her own expense. Personally after the crap we had to put up with for Pelosi I think this is a load of crap. I note also that there is no mention of Pelosi's weekly trips back and forth to CA on Fox so you know none of the rest of the MFM is talking about it.

4 Remember that nut-job who beheaded a female coworker at his place of work, stabbed another worker, and tried to behead another one before being shot by a plant executive who had a gun at work. Well he has been found guilty of First Degree Murder and the prosecutor said he will go for the death penalty. Note that at my old workplace having a gun at work, or even in the parking lot in your car, was forbidden.

8 I said weeks ago that Trump's tax plan had no chance of passing and blue State Republicans are already coming out against it because their ox is being gored with loss of their high state income tax deduction. The answer is simple assholes, reduce your state's high income tax. That will have an added benefit; working people will quit bailing out of your State and leaving it to the high cost FSA.

13 Another outrage from the DOJ. But you can probably blame this on the corrupt Obama regime since this case originated under them. And remember the DOJ is still full of those Obama appointees holdovers who were burrowed in as government employees just before he slithered out of the WH.

An illegal alien living in the sanctuary city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was sentenced for stealing Americans' identities to collect more than $800,000 in tax refunds.

Abdou Koudos Adissa, an illegal alien from the Republican of Benin, was sentenced to four years in federal prison for his part in a tax fraud scheme, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced.

I guess we are supposed to applaud this shitty 4 year sentence. 4 years for multiple crimes including tax fraud and stealing honest people's ID.

19 Why are Trump's judicial nominees being backlogged in the Senate? Heritage says it is due to the 'BS blue slip tradition' in which the nominee's home State senators must both approve his nomination. Well, that may be part of it but a lot of the blame also goes to the Senate leadership who hates Trump and a few choice RINOs and DIABLOs. This will force Trump to never pick a nominee from any State having a Democrat Senator.

The Nebraska supreme court upholds this new regulation even though it is BS and self defeating. I'm not tired of winning yet. Best part is this statement:

“Today’s judgment sends a strong, clear message to employers who scheme to hire and retain a workforce of illegal immigrants: we will find you and hold you accountable,” acting ICE Director Thomas Homan said in a statement. “Violators who manipulate hiring laws are a pull factor for illegal immigration, and we will continue to take action to remove this magnet.”

.They pulled that crap when we lived in CT in trying to get a new Police Station. It was voted on three times and failed each time. One of the Town Council people brought it up at a meeting one more time after talking with a lawyer, but they way he brought it up was that he was opposed to a new Police Station and he wanted to get that question on the ballot.

The way the Town Charter is written says that any question that goes on the Ballot has to be worded exactly the way it was brought up and passed at a Town meeting, in this case a No vote meant you were in favor of a new Police Station and a yes vote meant you did not want a new one.

The No votes passed and we got a new Police Station and more $$$ in debt.

Hmmm... maybe instead of fighting a Civil War, I should have convinced slave owners owners to bribe Northern politicians into saying that slavery was an "act of love" and that deporting slaves to Africa was the equivalent of putting them in concentration camps. Then the politicians could also vote for the creation of a national tax that subsidized slavery, thus further reducing the cost for us. Win/win for the politicians and the plantations.

He answered a question about the NFL, kneeling, and what the questioner called "faux outrage." Travis said that the players had a right to protest although everyone seemed to be missing the issue of doing it at work, in uniform. But, this isn't faux outrage because people are responding in their own 1st amendment manner, canceling subscriptions, burning gear, etc. Faux outrage is posting on twitter and doing nothing else.

49 Why are Trump's judicial nominees being backlogged in the Senate?
============================

Many nominees are backlogged, but one is outright opposed by his home state Senators. Al Franken, who stole his Senate seat, is trying to sink Trump's nominee, David Stras.

The Star-Tribune is in favor of Stras. The Minnesota bar is strongly endorsing him, despite being dominated by liberal Democrats. He's universally regarded as a great judge and a fair judge, so he is sort of the best the Democrats could hope for.

A felony conviction usually involves some jail time, probation at minimum. But these execs having a felony conviction means they can never be high paying execs again due to now being a fiduciary liability.

59 44 yep, this whole 'illegals' matter is a major gubbmint screw-up.

Back in 2010, in an attempt to stave off the recession, a local contractor bid (was not awarded, but bid) on a federal project. The bid required registration into e-verify.
While each worker on the project AND all new hire had to pass e-verify, regulations forbid running any other current employees through e-verify.
Within 6 months, agents from So Cal DHS swept in to 'audit' payroll records. Employees that the regs excluded from being e-verified by the employer, were e-verified by DHS. Nearly half voluntarily left rather than providing valid documention of their right to work in the US. Most hired on to the contractor's competitors.
-Glad to see the shareholders leveling the playing field, since the Feds won't.

76 Molly k, I grew up on a reservation in Montana. This reservation allowed alcohol. I have no idea why certain reservations are wet/dry. I assume the Bureau of Indian Affairs makes the decision for their "children".

Contrast with the Blackfeet Indians who are not allowed alcohol on the res. There was a news article once about the most dangerous highway in Montana. Lots of fatalities on the road between the Blackfeet Indian Reservation and the nearest town that sold alcohol.

I can't imagine why that might be?

The GOP is a useless pile of dog shit.

They are disfunctional and beholden to their paymasters.

They don't so much as take a squirt without getting their masters permission.

Obamacare won't be repealed because..

A. Congress and their staff don't have to live under it
B. The people and groups that really control shit don't want it repealed
and
C. We don't have enough organized opposition and allies to make it a reality.

Throw in the usual four to five assholes who think they are fucking kings and OCare repeal ain't ever happening.

Tax reform aint happening either, or an actual budget, or anything productive.

The thing that pisses me off is that it's all based on a bald-faced lie.

There is no epidemic of cops murdering innocent blacks. In fact, cops are at higher risk of being shot by blacks than vice versa. And cop shootings of black suspects in the U.S. have actually declined by something like 70% since the 1960's.

Of course in a country of 320 million people, there are going to be occasional incidents where some cop shoots somebody who didn't deserve it. Cops are humans, and some of them are corrupt and some of them are just incompetent. But the fact is that more white suspects than blacks get killed by cops in this country, despite the much higher incidence of violent crime by blacks. The media barely ever covers those white shootings. But when a black person gets shot, no matter what he was doing beforehand, it now gets non-stop media coverage, and is offered up as "proof" of how "racist" cops are murdering innocent blacks.

It's bullshit.

Under Obama, firearm sales reached historic levels. Make of it what you will, as to why so many US citizens chose to own a firearm.

And as you said, .22LR is a very affordable caliber for practicing with.

Add in the hoarding instinct which kicks in when ammunition becomes hard to find, and it almost becomes a self-licking ice cream cone of shortage and hoarding.

I suspect that production lines are still running at max capacity, and people are simply not buying as much right now.

Beta's original tape speed was higher. That helped quality, but it made the tapes too short for movies.

VHS had the two-hour standard. Sony came up with the BII and BIII standards that allowed them to fit a movie on one tape by slowing the tape down.

167 Oh, and Mornin' Horde.

What is the deal with the NFL babbling on about "Unity"?

That's the buzzword of the week and I have no clue what they think it means to anyone.

Maybe it's because they are compromising--instead of some players kneeling and some not, they are all standing and linking arms?

If so, who cares? Might be nice for team spirit, but why would anyone else care?
Posted by: Mama AJ

"Unity" is one of those words progs trot out that nearly always means "quash all dissenting voices".

Just woke up & scanned this thread.

It's called "pay and chase."

The govt sends out the checks, & then law enforcement follows along with the broom & tries to clean up the massive fraud mess that results.

The original sin here is the lack of internal controls and security BEFORE the checks are sent out. The way a burraucrat gets in trouble is by not shoveling the checks out fast enough.

That is not how anyone was ever taught to stand during the National Anthem. They are celebrating team unity but the USA is something much bigger and more important than a football team. And it is the USA they are crapping on with their antics and "protests."

Since both of them are such confirmed liars they could have nothing but sodium pentathol going through their veins and their DNA would still resist telling the truth so we'll never know.

Try putting it in your attic, and hook it up to the cable wiring in your house. A cheap amplifier on the cable line can help the signal level if it is too low.

188 152,
"Beta's original tape speed was higher. That helped quality, but it made the tapes too short for movies."

You're right about the two hour and ability to have movies recorded but the problem for Beta in that was started by the head of Sony who demanded that the cassette had to be the size of a paperback book so it could be carried in a pocket. This limited the length of tape that the cassette could hold compared to the VHS's larger one.

I had both formats back in the mid 70s and VHS was better for timeshifting which is what most people did with it in the beginning.

Rental stores came on somewhat later and yes the time limits of Beta hurt them in rentals too. In that it was a preference cascade. Just a slight edge for VHS pushed stores to favor it as each tape had to pay for itself.

In porn it wasn't rental so much as purchase. The porn industry made their product available for sale at prices people could afford. Hollywood priced for sale to rental stores until Paramount did "Top Gun" at $29.99 and started the whole buy your movie business.

191 It sounds like the NFL players have painted themselves into a corner. They have to keep putting on silly displays like locking arms or whatever. If they stop and just go back to standing for the national anthem, they will be conceding defeat. And if one player says, "No, I don't want to do the arm-locking thing", he'll be a pariah on the team.
