I also know an historian who was curious about the issue, reviewed records last harmonized in maybe the '60s, pulled original references from them, looked up the originals in archive, and found they had been altered. Freedmen reclassified as slaves, because clearly the original listings had been lies. We'll just "fix" that, then, shall we.

That's a big part of it. You're required to have 180 days of school, but they have stretched that out over a longer and longer school year, with longer vacations and a bunch of "teacher workdays."

The school year has been getting progressively longer over the years, and they keep shifting the start and end dates of summer vacation to the left.
Its because they keep adding more and more days off during the year. I think there's maybe one month that teachers don't get an extra day off, in the whole school year.

The teachers were also tenured. For elementary school. One of them was video taped for two years straight, getting drunk on vodka in her car near our house during lunch hour. No one could get her fired. She was abusive as all hell to the little boys.
She was finally urged to go into rehab, with the promise her job would be waiting on her.
We couldn't move away quickly enough.

.Those two ships were both configured as the SM3 Interceptor Block ABM missile platforms. I think there are only six in the entire Navy inventory and two just got took out right when we might need them to stop a NORK ICBM.
BTW they weren't in open waters, the were traveling in the most heavily congested waterway on the planet. Hong Kong used to be worse until the Chinese took it back.

There are people that claim there's another planet out there, "Nibiru" or "Planet X," that, at some point, will come crashing into the earth and obliterate all life.
Has this planet been seen? No.

For instance, why not send aid to nations that they came from, when they are sent back there. Well, I do not know if there is some exterior event or actor but it is really interesting to consider what is going on besides stupidity. What gap does putting the ship out of commission? Do they leave the gap open? Where do they pull a replacement from? What gap does that create? There are all sorts of people that benefit from having a gap in that area. The general purpose of "missionaries" is to convert people.
But, according to the Pope, Islam is beautiful and non-violent. It would be morally wrong to try to convert them.
If missionaries go over there to ""help stabilize" their society, we are forcing them to accept western values. This is wrong, since western cultures are bad.
So really, the only solution is to bring islam to the west, let it destroy western culture, and then, as is only fair, all whites who are not islamic must work as slaves to support muslims.

Also, it's not optional to do acts of charity and care for people who are needy-because we're all needy in one sense of another at times. I have no dog in this hunt-I'm not Catholic- but the "warrior for the downtrodden" is the problem. We're supposed to be warriors for Christ and the individual soul is important. Also, it's not optional to do acts of charity and care for people who are needy-because we're all needy in one sense of another at times. It's just not the role of the clergy to advocate for a system where people are forced to care for others.That is the work of the Holy Spirit is the lives of the individuals and working through churches but not forced to do charity by compulsion. Because if it's forced it doesn't come from the heart or from the fruit of the Holy Spirit working within people.

You can definitely keep it at a spiritual level and have very strong arguments against enforced charity, but having the economic understanding of how poorly such efforts actually work does help.
Unfortunately, the Church has a long history of being in de facto charge of things, and it's a centralized system itself, so it has a hard time shedding itself of some more medieval outlooks on how economies work.

There seems to be an uncomfortable joining of church and state here.
In the past, there have been refugee quotas.
Refugee organizations, many headed by churches, both nationally and locally, seem to get government money to bring them here.
Once here, it appears that the government then takes care of the refugees.
The children, who cannot speak English, and placed into schools with no records of vaccination and, in some cases, behaviorial problems. Individuals must be assigned to these children, which mean other children, the children of tax payers, get less attention and fewer resources.
Also, money that could be helping local people in poverty, is diverted to refugees who may take years before they contribute to the economy. So... fewer resources for actual americans, and more resources to people who are not american who may or may not ever contribute to the system.
BTW... I'm not advocating ending all refugee programs; I'd rather have sensible ones where people who share our culture, Judeo Christian heritage and speak English are prioritized.

Last thing I paid attention to with him was a few months ago when he said people should share Christ with people of good will, and it should not be their own ideology that they push.
I respected that. I also thought the "goodwill" was a possible indication he realized there are people who will kill you for saying Christ...so maybe steer clear of them.

Think of drawing a ray from the edge of the sun through the pinhole at an angle to come out the other side. That's why the image is upside down.
The pinhole selects for only a subset of rays; without a pinhole you wouldn't see an image because all of the various rays would overlap each other.

Light is definitely weird, soft, not nearly as bright as it should be (recall it is actually much brighter here than at more northerly latitudes).
Other thing - it's "cool". That is, the sun on my back/neck when I first checked with the pinhole viewer, at 9:15, was much warmer than it just was. That is pretty odd.

They've always had trouble getting snow predictions right, but they have been abysmal with the rain predictions this year, it's ridiculous.
