Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Media Gushed Over John McCain's "Profile in Courage" as He Locked Obamacare Into PlaceThe video compilation here leaves no doubt as to the media's position on Obamacare. They're gushing at a rate of liquid discharge I'd rate as a 40 centiobamas. Ed Morrissey notes Trump is trying to goad the Senate GOPe into taking up Obamacare repeal again, but the Senate GOPe is refusing. That's pretty terrible. You don't get to lie to everyone forever without consequences. As Eric Cantor said, many in Congress never expected to really repeal Obamacare, but they "rode the anger" for their own political benefit. Stipulated, "riding the anger" is a useful motivating tool for turnout. But what happens when people see their anger is being cynically exploited by liars and liberals? How many more times does the GOPe expect it can "ride the anger" without ever doing anything positive to make their voters less angry? And what happens when the anger being ridden is turned against the GOPe? You'd think the GOPe would have a partial answer to that question -- the last time the base felt like it was being used like a cheap lay, it revolted by nominating (and electing) Trump. Do they need further lessons? Can the GOP survive any further lessons?Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1
The GOPe members are probably promised big paydays from their donors whether they are in office or not. So, the GOPe is set either by winning or losing.

Do they need further lessons? Can the GOP survive any further lessons? Do they need further lessons? Apparently so. But we need good candidates to primary these SOBs starting in 2018. Can the GOP survive? Oh, it'll survive in some way shape or form. Will they remain in control both the Senate and the House - that is the question. Jim Geraghty once cautioned Democrats that they are playing with fire when they go forward with all kinds of election shenanigans. The fire is the hell that happens when people are convinced their votes do not matter at all. Seems that caution should be extended to the political parties at large, not just Democrats. I'm going to quote me from this morning because I'm lazy and I want to do my part to Barrel taunt:
I have a question for those here who are defending the GOP. How many seats, exactly, does the GOP need to hold in the House and Senate in order to pass the legislation upon which they run? That is a serious, straightforward question. I want actual numbers. Because, you see, I was condescended to for years about half of one-third, etc. Now the GOP has what we were told they needed in order to move ahead with nothing in their way and the single most important issue for which the GOP was given power was a humiliating failure. So what's the exact, honest number? 60 in the Senate? Well. If Collins and Murkowski and McCain cannot be relied upon, which they cannot, doesn't that make the true number 63? And what about the House? What level of seats constitute a large enough majority for but but but we might lose the majority if we take hard votes? I want a number, an actual number. So. What are the numbers to get passed all those things I've been promised for nearly a decade now? I want to know, truly. All Trump has to do is let the REAL law be enacted as it was supposed to be. Get rid of all waivers - especially the one given to Congress itself by Obama. Also, Tom Price can do whatever he wants with the rules inside the ACA...which will prove the crappiness of the law to both Republicans Democrats alike.
For example, Tom Price could decide that a 'compliant plan' under the ACA is merely catastrophic coverage. He could cut most of the benefits you would receive on the exchange plans. He could also change the eligibility rules for Medicaid, which would get many able-bodied working adults OFF of Medicaid. There are many more rules that the HHS Secretary has control over...which is a huge problem with the law. And the Democrats know it. I hope that Tom Price starts to make major changes to the ACA to show that the law is very flawed and that it gives a single government agency (which will flop back and forth between parties) too much power over the health insurance market. The Democrats will be begging for the law to be repealed at that point. How will they be able to defend the law once Tom Price completely upends the supposed 'benefits' that Democrats keep talking about? Posted by: K-E at August 01, 2017 01:35 PM (uOEHQ) 40

Trump and the GOPe needs to focus the anger on a few sacrificial sheep--i.e., Senator Heller needs to have an example made of him in the Nevada primary, and if he goes on to the general, vote Democrat. Neither Collins, Capito nor Murky are up in 2018. Trump needs to target a few. If the Reps lose one or two RINOs this will be offset by gains in other states, providing the anger is channeled, and Trump works to get some selective new faces in there.
I figure they could lose three comfortably. Heller must go. Same goes for Flake who is up then as well. Who else needs to go? Lets see your suggestions, get jiggy with it. You really cannot reach some accommodation with the dems, they plan to destroy you sooner or later. If the gope really wants a uniparty and their difference with the dems is merely a matter of degrees we have a serious problem. After years of observing the politics surrounding Roe v Wade, I came to the conclusion Republicans would always find an excuse to not change the status quo even if they had the opportunity. They make too much money stoking the fire. If Roe were actually struck down and the fight went to the state level, all the money drains out at the federal level.

There was a story the other day about McConnell warning strategists that they better not work in the primaries against any incumbent lest they be starved for work. This sounds about right. Party leadership is about protecting itself and screw all you rubes out there. Party leadership should be the target - hit McConnell as hard as possible. Also, the party leadership at the state level is what needs to be changed as swiftly as possible. Arizona, Alaska, Kentucky, and others should be at the top of the list.
Remove the state party heads and get true conservatives in there and the changes should come. Not every primary is going to end up with a scalp like Cantor's, so we shouldn't expect that. But if we can hammer on the state party leaders who gift us with such winners as McConnell and McCain, then we might have a chance. But in the end, I still say that a convention of the states is truly our only recourse. Posted by: sans_sheriff at August 01, 2017 01:48 PM (a5M4B) 126

"People of America, I told you Obamacare has big problems. I believe that Obamacare will become more expensive as Baby-Boomers have more age-related issues.(It's not their fault. They're not bad people. That's what happens when you get older, you need more healthcare. That's a fact of life.) Congress disagrees. They think Obamacare is working fine. They voted to keep Obamacare. If they like Obamacare, then they can KEEP Obamcare. I will VETO any bill that changes Obamacare. I will hold them to their word. All I can hope for is for the nation to take the path that Wisconsin did.
Once a rock solid blue state, WI voters finally saw how the state was being destroyed by Democrats with two major scandals: Milwaukee County pension scandal and the Jim Doyle administration with Dem's in control of both legislative houses. Walker, with the help of Preibus, was elected to fix both situations. Initially we had a lot of moderates when the Republicans took over the state houses but people saw what they were trying do and willing to make the hard choices and through the next few elections were rewarded with more and more conservative lawmakers. We purged the Rino's and haven't looked back. As a result, the state Democratic party in WI is a shambles. Posted by: WisRich at August 01, 2017 01:58 PM (G0vdT) 177

Get ready, because the GOPe will adjust. They don't put a whole hell of a lot of effort into countering Democrats, but they sure will put it towards primary challengers. From 2018 on, expect this:
1. Exclusion of all non-establishment candidates from any debates. 2. Use of the media to slime non-establishment candidates as racist xenophobes. 3. Outright and public threatening of any financial supporters of non-establishment candidates. 4. Bought and paid for "conservative" journalism that only supports their positions. 5. Campaigning by GOPe candidates will reflect what the base wants while having absolutely no intention of fulfilling obligations. 6. Applying the FEC unfairly and egregiously to limit the effectiveness of challenging non-establishment candidates. 7. Temporarily allying with all media (including far left outlets) to play up non-partisan cooperation. If any of this sounds familiar, it's because it is out of the Democrat general election playbook. A number of these bullet points are already being applied today (i.e. leaks played to the waiting media). The GOPe is going to go full retard. Trump has (so far) refused to fund the risk corridor program after today. If he keeps his promise (no reason to see why he wouldn't as he has kept a bunch of his campaign promises) obamacare will collapse upon itself like a black hole. We already have 47 Counties in the US with zero insurers and well over 200 Counties with just one obamacare choice. People seem to think that consituents care about issues . They do. Some of them. But largely they don't. There is a reason why incumbency is powerful. One is the ability to use the office to help people: it's called "constituent service" and it's like fan service in anime without the upskirt. Give the people what they want, what they like, and they will be your friend.
Serving time in Washington enhances the power and ability to get things done. Your mama's Medicare bill is all out of whack and you can't get it fixed? A call from a powerful legislator's office can fix it. This endears and indebts people. McCain's office I am sure is able to help people. The funny thing about the word "bukake" is it's not normally associated with porn in Japan. It literally means something like "throw everything on top", so when a Japanese person orders bukake soup he's expecting a soup with meat and a heap of random vegetables. And not, you know, what an American internet user would expect.

NOT TRUE. Dr. Price has control over more than 1400 rules and regulations inside the ACA itself. 1) Dr. Price could get rid of the waivers Obama handed out like candy to Unions and others. 2) Dr. Price could actually enact the Small Business rule, which was NEVER enacted b/c Obama KNEW it would be terrible if implemented. 3) Dr. Price can change the income threshold by which you qualify for Medicaid. 4) Dr. Price can decide what an exchange-compliant plan includes...he literally could reduce the benefits to catastrophic coverage only. 5) Trump could stop subsidy payments altogether as they are currently illegally being paid and have been since 2014. There are so many ways to kill this stupid law from within. The biggest one Trump should start with is rescinding Obama's EO that allowed Congress to be viewed as a 'small business' and, therefore, exempt from buying insurance in the exchanges. Yeah, you know why the ACA is 6 feet tall in paperwork (literally)? Because its full of rules and options and things that can be turned on and off. And further, most of that paperwork is stuff agencies wrote up to implement it, which can be changed by those same agencies. The ACA was written to be as much as possible under control of the executive, because Democrats assumed that they would permanently, until the heat death of the sun, control the oval office. The Cubs fan in front of her refused to sit down so she could see and turned around and grabbed his crotch and told her to "Suck it, bitch" when she complained. She went home and saw the rest of the game on TV. Screw that. There is no way I would have left. I would have had the jerk booted out of there. Yeah, but that's because Cards fans love baseball, and Cubs fans love the Cubs. Its not about the game for most of them, its part of an identity thing. They could have 90 of the current crop of a-holes and they still wouldn't get anything done. As mIlton Freidman said--The trick is to make the wrong people do the right thing. If a party gets the majority, let them do their thing with 50 +1 and toss them if it's no good. Then 50 + 1 with the new guys can repeal and replace and be responsible for what they've done. Now the republicans are responsible for not removing what the democrats stuck the country with. Pretty fkked up. I would have said the same when Obamacare was being put in. Our elected officials have to tackle just a few things:
immigration (enforce the duly passed laws, already) economy: excessive regulation/reduce corporate taxation repeal Obamacare and get the hell out of my doctor's office. Scare the sh*t out of Iran and Norks Around my house, I'm OK with snakes. They don't sh*t in my house, like mice, which they eat. Put Debbie W-S in jail. And cut off her hair Apparently, I give two sh*ts. Posted by: Liz953 at August 01, 2017 05:51 PM (frv51) 438

435 And I realize the ONLY thing you care about is drugs and you're very upset that not everyone is as obsessed with drugs as you are, but I'm more worried about other things. Posted by: Chicago60609 at August 01, 2017 05:25 PM (1tbtm) And Libertarians think that childishly insulting people who could potentially back them is a GREAT tactic for winning hearts and minds. YOU don't know what liberty means, actually. You think liberty = drugs, and you can't stop thinking about drugs. And, you being Libertarian, REFUSE to lift a finger for liberty, because Libertarians believe freedom and liberty exist for the asking. But by all means, Chicago60609, continue to insult and berate people...and then, after an election, be sure to start to pout and whine about why people don't support you losers. One small hint: don't insult, lecture, badmouth, or berate potential supporters. It may help you down the road. Posted by: CatchThirtyThr33 at August 01, 2017 10:27 PM (gHxi3) 440

Posted by: CatchThirtyThr33 at August 01, 2017 10:27 PM (gHxi3) ---- I didn't bring the drugs topic up - I responded to a comment like any normal human being would. I return insult with insult - you don't like it, too damn bad. Have fun voting for GOP liars until you die. The nation is bankrupt morally and fiscally, and all you want is more of the same.
