9 The hilarious Canadian sitcom "Corner Gas" had an episode about public bathrooms.

The gas station and adjoining diner had shared rest rooms. The Toronto-born diner owner replaced the signs for Men and Women with the Mars and Venus signs to make the place more classy. No one else in the rural Saskatchewan town knew what they meant, so they went into the wrong bathrooms. The men, having mistakenly used the women's room, credited the gas station owner with upgrading the facilities.

19 Judge in the Cosby trial is making the jurors come back for another day of deliberations today. Jurors have already deliberated more than 52 hours over a span of 5 days, and have told the judge they are deadlocked. Judge has denied repeated requests from the defense to declare a mistrial.

The jury is sequestered. This is beginning to feel like a hostage situation. There are only 3 counts. If the jurors can't agree, they can't agree. Let them go already.

That happened to my ship while we were in the Med. The frigate hit us so hard it splashed water down our stacks and put out the boilers. We were at GQ for while after that one. Their C.O. was flown off, relieved of command, in about 30 minutes.

Middle of the day. During UNREP, instead of coming alongside from astern, the ship driver decided to slide in from the side. It was a big hit. We lost something like 10,000 gallons of JP5. I was on an oiler.

Posted by: F.N.G. at June 17, 2017 07:02 AM (kiSdp)

42 I'm reading Blitzed: Drugs in the Third Reich.

In the 30's, methamphetamine was sold in drug stores as Pervitin* and damn near everybody used it. It was put in chocolates for housewives!

A military medical doctor was looking for ways to battle soldiers' fatigue and put some pep in their goose-step, and this seemed a good solution. During the invasion of Poland (krystallmethnacht?) officers wrote of its ability to bring focus and drive to his soldiers, and they seemed revved up for action, any action, with some euphoria and pleasant mild hallucinations as a bonus.

These rules of the road are different, and it appears from the photos that the merch had the right-of-way.

Even if she didn't, the Navy's policy is, internally anyway, that this never should have happened and the CO and his navigation team have a lot to answer for. They have 2 separate navigation teams running calculations on all tracks at the same time. How they *both* missed a CBDR is question #1.
