Abedin is willing to take the deeply flawed and broken father of her child back into her home in the hope that redemption somehow lies ahead for him. She’s doing so fully aware of the ridicule that will follow, not just from Clinton haters but from feminists, too, who view as anathema standing by any wayward man. One doesn’t often see that kind of strength today. All I can say is I wish I were as good a Christian as Huma Abedin is a Muslim. Her mercy is to be admired.Eh, part of this is the long-simmering suspicion that this is some kind of political-cover marriage. That's why people on the right are so dumbfounded --
some are wondering why a pretend marriage is being pretended after the need for it has passed. (Or has it passed...? Hillary can't seem to get over her loss and, given her marital history, seems to be a sucker for humiliation.) Though, actually, these bizarre turns have the strange effect of making me think this is a real marriage. (People on the left are dumbfounded because Female Empowerment You Guys.) When kids are involved -- one is involved here -- I understand this. Kids are a contract, and a pretty sacred one. It's not that all marriages with children involved must be endured -- I'm not an absolutist on that, some marriages are so toxic that staying together doesn't do anyone any favors -- but certainly they should be endured as much as one can. Well, that's the best I can do. I don't really care.

There is nothing, not one single solitary thing, in this that displays mercy or forgiveness.

This isn't about forgiveness. This isn't about mercy. This is about allowing an at best highly dysfunctional and at worst emotionally abusive person back into a relationship.
No, no, it is not worthy of admiration. She SHOULD be condemned for this and rightly so.
This is nigh to the Platonic ideal of enablement.
Plus, as an actual feminist, the notion that a standing by a man requires that a woman do so even when that person has humiliated her publicly on multiple occasions and has shown no, absolutely no, evidence that he is sorry and that he has changed makes my skin crawl. IANAL, but I believe that you're protected for anything that occurred during the marriage. So even if they divorced he couldn't be compelled to testify about something that happened while she was at the State Department. I believe that there are also some restrictions on what is protected.

IANAL, but I believe that you're protected for anything that occurred during the marriage. So even if they divorced he couldn't be compelled to testify about something that happened while she was at the State Department. I believe that there are also some restrictions on what is protected.

(MB org) while in college, and then worked as editor for the family's journal, which is underwritten by a known terror-sponsoring imam. IIRC, the journal is for articles about how to be a muslim in a non-muslim country and be a chhange agent from within (see Andy McCarthy's PJMedia posts for a lot of details). She worked for the journal *and* Hillary for 12 years, only leaving the journal when Hillary became SoS.

Jimmy Stewart is this small town lawyer who puts on this folksy/slightly dim act, but is very shrewd and just using that to garner sympathy with the jury. like columbo.
George C. Scott plays the "big city upstate" state prosecutor sent by the capital (I think, in Michigan), and has airs of being smart and educated, and is flummoxed and frustrated by Jimmy Stewart's pretend just-an-ordinary-guy act.
It's a very good movie. It's from 1962, but you'd be surprised at how modern it is -- including with subject matter (the accused is a man who killed his wife's rapist, post-fact, and has no real defense) and its cynicism (Jimmy Stewart tells him he has no defense, as you can't kill someone after the fact in "self defense," but mentions, casually, that it's hard to disprove the claim that someone had temporary insanity-- he doesn't say "lie," he just strongly implies it).
Worth watching.

I think it was just the opposite of what Clinton says. While the Pussygate tape was dropped first that day (Oct 7) Wikileaks was saying for weeks they were going to release more emails. They got wind that the emails were going to be released that day and did the Pussygate drop to take the wind out of the media coverage of the Podesta emails.
They ended up having to release the tape earlier than the maximum effect date a week or two before the election. It was released before the third debate which gave Trump the opportunity to apologize at a neutral site to mitigate some of the damage.

True story: I was 17 years old and on a summer league travelling baseball team (American Legion league). We rode the team bus a couple of hours away to play a game that started around 6 pm. 14 innings (and 5 hours) later we FINALLY won! So about 15 of us teenage boys piled on the team bus ready for a 1 in the morning ride back to our home town. We were all exhausted, and yet jubilant. The bus driver turns on the radio and then the Human League song "Don't You Want Me?" came on (it was quite popular at the time). I'll never forget being a part of a group of 15 guys singing outloud the lyrics of "I was working as a waitress at a cocktail bar...when I found you...".
Good times indeed!

As a good, faithful Muslim, Huma knows that it is her duty in life to submit to her husband, no matter how badly he acts. That is Allah's will, she has no choice in the matter. As disgusting as Anthony Wiener is, he has been his child's only present parent for most of the child's life. He is likely not a physical danger to the child because his "thing" is teenage girls.
As abhorrent as Wiener is, he is a better parent than Huma. Likely the kid would be better without both of them but that is likely not going to happen.
