That's right, the science is settled:A recently published study in the Journal of Public Economics concludes that the attractiveness of a candidate does correlate with their politics. They find that politicians on the right are more good looking in Europe, the United States and Australia. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)Posted by: bluebell at April 10, 2017 12:17 PM (sBOL1) 2

The Ewok call is a complex signal that has evolved to meet the needs of the Ewoks to summon their leader for guidance and content - the sweet, sweet, content.
It consists of a haunting low melody played over the neck of an empty Valu-Rite bottle, the rhythmic drumming on an open oil drum covered with hobo skin followed by a deep, intestinal, belch. MSM had been beating the drum for our getting into Syria because of the Camera Ready Atrocity, which Trump wouldn't do because he was in cahoots with Putin. Or that they're "anti-capitalism" etc. Do they even know what capitalism is? Do they realize they wouldn't have their precious iPhones without it? Or be able to shop in a Whole Foods with all its overpriced food and supplements? What? They think that without capitalism people would just decide to produce food, clothing and iPads, for no profit, out of the "goodness" of their progressive hearts? Posted by: BignJames at April 10, 2017 12:23 PM (x9c8r) It used to be possible, as told in this story of finding and repatriating a MIA Marine's remains from Vietnam -- http://preview.tinyurl.com/ksyjvwc The parents of Lance Cpl. Merlin Allen of Bayfield, WI (my Dad's home town) formerly owned all of York Island, in Wisconsin's Apostle Island chain. When the National Park Service established the National Lakeshore there, the Allen's created a memorial for Merlin on a small portion of York Island, thereby taking it out of NPS control. The story of how the feral gubmint ran roughshod over private property owners in the Apostle Islands -- including my paternal grandparents -- played a huge role in my becoming conservative. Particularly galling to me was how monied private property owners received preferential treatment over those who weren't as well off. Bastages, every last one of them. *** Saddam Hussein was perhaps the largest mass murder still in political power in 2003. I seem to recall the argument from the left was that was no justification for removing him from power. Qaddafi was a murder and a tyrant, but a pretty run of the mill one. And he had cooperated with the west in regards to his WMDs and Salafism after seeing what happened to Saddam Hussein. I used to agree with that sentiment but watching how Libya (and Iraq) have fared without a strongman makes me seriously consider otherwise. Maybe those societies need a strongman dictator to keep the populace from killing each other and turning into a terrorist's safe haven. The rub is you have to ensure the dictator doesn't go too far. Frankly, after giving up WMDs (thanks to W) and getting out of the international terrorism game, Qadaffi was pretty much harmless, at least in the international arena. "They think that without capitalism people would just decide to produce
food, clothing and iPads, for no profit, out of the 'goodness' of their progressive hearts?" I will say this about the original 1960s hippies. A substantial contingent of them, in the 1970s, became part of the "back to the land" movement, to include setting up socialist agricultural communes. The majority of these ventures flamed out horribly in a flurry of recriminations, due to collectivism amplifying people's natural laziness and incompetence. Scurrying back to the cities they went. To get haircuts, doff the denim and tie-dye, and work at capitalist businesses. It's not too hard to connect the dots between that hard generational learning experience and the later rise of the New Right, including Ronald Reagan. Would that more of today's special snowflake generation were heading out to the boonies to try their hands at farming together. Hell, we should subsidize it. And United will probably lose millions in business. Great job assholes. -- They had to get four of their employees on the flight, and needed volunteers. No one volunteered, so they drew names. Yeah, and I'm getting a little tired of the "he should have just complied" defense. That's some serious police state tactics right there. Nobody should be roughed up like that. You're trapped in a sealed tube with armed Airport Cops that have a license to do whatever the fuck they want (which is obvious from watching the video.) And if you resist you get beaten and maybe jailed. That's what pisses me off about it. Some MF'ers throw you to the ground and you can't throw a single punch or so anything else to defend yourself. I found a better article on that United thingy:
http://cjky.it/2oQtLIA According to this, United asked for one person to volunteer off and then after the plane was boarded said that four other people had to get off to make way for a United flight crew that had to be in Louisville for a morning flight. Initial offer was $400 and a flight at 3:00 p.m. the next day and then $800 and no takers. Then a manager said the plane will not take off until those four people were seated and the computer would pick at random. A couple was chosen first, which seems really damn fishy for a "random" event unless one got picked and they saw that and picked the other person too and they got off and then the doctor was picked. You do need to read the article to see what happened next. So. Did you know that if an airline decides that it has to get its flight crew there, you can be dragged kicking and screaming off the flight? Because I didn't. Oh and United is reaching out to this passenger to discuss the situation with him which is not even code for omfg settle this right NOW. NY has now made college free for students from families making less than $125,000.
Not quite sure how that will work. SUNY has over a 1.5 million people enrolled. Let's say, for giggles, that 750,000 in SUNY (just SUNY, not all the other public colleges in the state) are from families the are eligible. The current cost to live on campus at SUNY is $20,000 (not sure if that is per semester or per year.) My calculator says that comes to 15, 000,000,000. Per year. Why do I suspect the tuitions will be raised faster once it's "free"? But I'm glad they're doing this in a single state first, as opposed to president Hillary doing it nationwide, just so that we can all witness its epic failure (like Vermont single-payer healthcare) and stop this nonsense with minimal damage. I have routinely experienced the case where I flew through a connection and my luggage went direct. Then there was the time we flew direct SFO-MEL and our luggage went through SYD. Posted by: *Mikey NTH - Abhorrent Abominations Abound at the Outrage Outlet! at April 10, 2017 01:24 PM (hLRSq) Per airline interpretations, the FAA regs mean that if a passenger does not do exactly what the flight crew says with additional immediate ball/mish licking with or without eye contact at the flight crew's discretion, then the airline can have the passenger kicked off the flight. There's good reason for saying that once you are on the plane, the flight crew has nigh to utter discretion in handling the passengers since they are not just flying waiters/waitresses. But nigh to unlimited doesn't mean unlimited. United fucked up the overbooking, fucked up in realizing four more seats were needed for crew, fucked up in not upping the ante and then fucked up by getting security to haul the guy off physically.
