James Rosenquist
Not a fan really of pop art but I appreciated his work (see "F-111"). I thought at least he had a technical ability and knew how to paint....which says it all for me. I found this in the NYT obituary, and it reinforced my opinion of the guy. Think what you will of his art, he had real-world experience and didn't minimize his connection to everyday life.
"Much of the aesthetic of my work comes from doing commercial art," Mr. Rosenquist said. "I painted pieces of bread, Arrow shirts, movie stars. It was very interesting. Before I came to New York I wanted to paint the Sistine Chapel. I thought this is where the school of mural painting exists. You were painting things up close, like big chocolate cakes. In Brooklyn, I painted Schenley whiskey bottles two stories high, 147 of them over every candy store."

It's clearly not like it's depicting a scene that you'd ever actually see somewhere, so that means that it's supposed to be more abstract in purpose, in which case I definitely don't get it.

Someone asked her about that Canadian professor who refuses to play the gender pronoun game, and she went off on the LGBT crew insisting we change the language - she emphatically said: create your own new language, don't try to destroy what already exists/tell us what we can and cannot say.
But that's the key to every progressive pursuit, whether it's comics, marriage, pronouns or even James Bond: they desire to destroy what exists vs. create their own.

I feel like it's impossible to write stories about the same characters for 50 years and not have things just run their course. The best TV shows lose steam after 10 (and most don't even make it that long), and there's only so many times that you can scale up the size of the conflict until things get ridiculous. You've also explored just about every interpersonal issue that can arise between the characters, so the only thing that's left to do is retcon things either through time travel, multiple universes, or some other means and inevitably you leave the franchise in a mess.

A quick youtube search shows them as doing all the things (D)s accused Trump of doing and much, MUCH worse, but the stars of that show have gone on to have massively successful careers. Not only the Wayans but Jim Carey, that Wanda thing, Jamie Foxx, and who knows how many others. Jamie Foxx even got to play Ray Charles and win an Academy Award IIRC.

It was, if anything, a magnification and meditation on the confluence of High Art and commercial art and a blurring of the lines between the two. People forget that in order for works to be transgressive in the formal meaning of the term, there must be boundaries which can be crossed. That's the main issue with what passes for modern "transgressive" works. What boundary are you pushing? None. None boundary is what.
In a less smarty pants vein, I really like the colors in that piece.

It really first started in the early 70s with Green Lantern. Denny O'Neill wrote all kinds of popular lefty causes into issue after issue. Only saved by the great art work of Neal Adams. I'm sure by now it's all just swill.

I'd argue absolutely yes.
I think that happened at the end of S5, and the first half of S6 is definitely one of the weaker half seasons, but starting with the second half of S6 things really start taking off.

Hydraulic pressure resonance suppressor is either a buffer tank of some sort or simply flex couplings or maybe both.
I had a project at a previous employer where I had to remove pressure fluctuations from a coating system. Our Japanese sister plant bought a $150,000 special pumps that made the pressure pulses 180 degrees out of phase. I put a small vertical pipe inline with an air bubble to absorb all the pulsations. That was fun.

The body-mind loop works like this: mind freaks out, body responds by tensing/adrenaline dumping, mind reads the body tension as a reason to keep freaking out.
So, either work to relax the body (breathe deep into the upper chest, limbering the shoulders, and then breathe out about ten percent further/slower than normal, for several breaths in a row), or run around a bit so that the mind can have an alternate explanation for why the body is so hyped up.
Saying this as a veteran of several dozen professional orchestra auditions.

My limited knowledge on the subject says that most of the gas in the world would be spoiled after a couple of years.
I don't actually know if that means "completely unusable" or just "doesn't work as well as it should."
It seems to me that it would still be flammable but there is a lot about the chemistry I don't actually understand.

For me it's something about the combination of brown skin, dark eyes and jet black hair that sends me into a tizzy.

One thing that always irked me about TOS was that every planet had a monoform culture. There never seemed to be any breakdown by country or area. Every Rigellian was the same as another. It would be as if the Enterprise beamed down to Keokuk and presumed the rest of Earth was just like it.

One thing that always irked me about TOS was that every planet had a monoform culture. There never seemed to be any breakdown by country or area. Every Rigellian was the same as another. It would be as if the Enterprise beamed down to Keokuk and presumed the rest of Earth was just like it.

That was really the only problem I had with the finale.
But it was worth it for the Shiva/Ezekial/rescue scene.
And with TWD I'm more than willing to suspend some disbelief and deal with some questionable writing decisions if the pay off is there.
In universe explanation, Carol has been in and out of Alexandria by various ways she has to know some secret routes by now.

Law school story!
There's a famous British case on justifiable homicide in which a student killed a teacher at a Brit public (remember that means private) school. It's pretty much a standard case for teaching how the standards on deciding what is justifiable have developed.
We get assigned the case to read, come in the next day and the prof is all okay who thinks it was justified. About half the hands go up. Okay who thinks it wasn't. The other half go up.
Prof then says you do know that he killed him because he was buggering him, not bugging him, right? Annnd that's when the penny dropped for a whole bunch of people. There were many requests for a revote.
It's not funny except for all of the ways in which it is.

According to an eyewitness, they were all coked up watching a doc about Vietnam. They showed the famous scene where that monk sets himself on fire. They along with college students were the groups used by the progressive New Left to take control of the Democratic Party. Rules changes in the 68-72 period made quotas for favored activist demographics to the national convention mandatory. These groups were the people who had lots of time to devote to political activism as opposed to blue collar working folks who depend on others to represent their interests as they don't have the time to do so personally.

Well she bit her again this morning. She does this for no reason....just walks up to my daughter and bam, bites her. Hopefully the antibiotics she's still on will take care of the second bite because if we have to go to the doc again, animal control will come take the cat and my daughter will freak out. Daughter is temporarily living with us and has to keep the cats upstairs in her bedroom...we have one dog that HATES cats.
Any ideas?

We had a sweet little Yorki who of lost her marbles she started biting snapping at us and would randomly attacked my other little dog, sadly we had to put her down for mental illness she also had Cushing's disease. She was 13 and cute as a button, it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.

They can show their anger in ways like that. Or peeing on the bed, as a cat I used to know did.
But I don't know how to solve it! Maybe lots of attention as soon as she walks into the room so the cat doesn't need to "ask" for attention. Or start talking calmly when the cat starts to walk over to her. That has helped with some anxiety one cat has, but don't know how much it would help with anger.

Oh hey! A fiver. This is fun.
We've had the cat it's whole life....it grew up with my daughter (she rescued it actually). When we moved she took the cat. Long story. Anywhooo...the cat has known her her whole life. She's lived exclusively with her the last 4 years.
It could be the cooped up thing. Husband is putting new hardwood floors upstairs and we haven't been able to open up the other jack and jill bedroom that would allow her more room to roam. He's just finished that bedroom so I'm going to have him put the door back on and open up that room for the cats.

Yeah, cooping up a cat (as opposed to a dog) is going to cause all sorts of anxiety for the animal. It's not the cat's fault.
Now, from what you describe, if the cat WAS allowed free roaming privileges, I think she and the dog would sort it out themselves (with the dog likely getting to worst of it).
As for the bites, I get bit all the time. All. The. Time.
One of my cats, he likes to ambush me, and he's never gentle about it. The extent to which I tolerate it depends on how much I do or do not need blood on me.
I wouldn't even begin to know what kind of infection to expect from it. It's a way of life for me. Scratches, bites, it's what they do. They are wild animals, regardless of what we think. It's one reason why I treasure their company. My own little nature show at home.

One of the chapters in the first Freakonomics book IIRC was how how certain names start as high-class, become middle-class, and then low-class. Think "Tiffany" and "Madison" and such.
Other names (John, many others from the Bible) remain popular, others ebb and flow (Emily). Interesting stuff.
