2.8 Million Strong Army Invades America...How To Beat It

To Truly Beat The Bureaucrats, Trump Needs To Shut Their Agencies Down

Do Republicans really think that fewer than 5,000 appointees can win against 2.8 million federal employees who have a vested interest in absolutely nothing changing?

Read the article, but this quote nails it. This is it. This has always been it.

Kill the leviathan.

Yes, Trump has to do major cuts to remove those Lefty ticks embedded in the federal system. Lois Lerner is the perfect example - a long-time fed employee who used her positions at FEC and IRS to harass citizens. She took pleasure it it. These people need to be gone.

This. So much this.
Our eyes have been opened (mine anyways). The GOP-e has zero interest in doing the conservative proposals we heard during their campaigns. We were fed (and yes - we gladly ate it all up) these lies so they could get into power. Nothing more - but gain power. Now that they have it (temporarily), they don't want to kill the Leviathan, they want it to change its allegiance.

Posted by: Our Country is Screwed at March 20, 2017 11:45 AM (jxbfJ)

22 The problem is, we don't really have a conservative majority in Congress.

We largely do in the House, but the Senate is basically left leaning.

But had we been able to secure a handful more Senate seats, we could kill these agencies and it would be very difficult for Democrats to reanimate them unless they took every branch of government.

There's obviously RINOs in the House, but the way districts are carved up with gerrymandering, a Republican is more likely to lose their GOP primary than get beat by a Democrat, so they usually listen to the base.

Part of me is glad the real vocal NeverTrumpers lost, but at the same time, I think some of these votes could have been useful on some issues. The Democrats that won are never going to throw a single vote our way.

I also think these kamikaze moves cost both the Senate elections in their respective states and caused Trump to lose the state itself. Had Ayotte not basically insinuated Trump was a child molester, he probably would have won New Hampshire.

I was hoping that would be a good lesson, but Republicans are still operating under the belief they can sink Trump and somehow escape unscathed.

I've long been an advocate for moving every federal employee out of the DC/NoVA area and spreading them around the rest of the country. It makes sense from a national defense standpoint (no way to cripple the government with a single strike) as well as make federal jobs less appealing. You are missing the point. The way to over come the vested interest is to defang it.

We will STILL save massively from less overhead and less regulatory bullshit.

Or, take another example. I have known people who took promotional spots in "The California High-Speed Rail Authority", even though they knew it was utter nonsense, because an opening for the next highest rank and thus the next highest pay grade, and they could go from, say, "Associate Accounting Analyst", or "Information Systems Trainee", up to "Accounting Administrator I", or "Information Systems Officer".

They KNEW the program was crap, but by gum, there was an opening for one rank and one higher pay grade up.

I am sure you can apply this to Federal GS-xx people as well.

If you eliminate a department or cut their budget, you can certainly "fire" these people.

What you "can't" do (although Trump needs to test this with some of these fiefdoms) is just fire someone and replace them with your own tribe for political or patronage reasons.

So you can't fire every FBI agent and say they need to be loyal Republicans.

As I read more and more into the 19th century Executive branch, the more of a clear picture I get of the spoils system.

It was a mess. Presidents did nothing for the first 2-3 months of their terms other than fill out spots as every office seeker in the country descended on D.C.. The people who got the positions were usually completely unqualified for the positions they were seeking. It enhanced divisions within parties at the height of that party's power.

And you know what? It was still better than what we have now.

Yeah, shut that WPA of a program down, like yesterday.

In it's place though? Allow me to introduce you to it's replacement

"BureauCorps".

Where unnecessary bureaucrats are transferred in order to work out the their careers until retirement, free of the stifling restrictions of offices, cubicles, staplers and HVAC.

Now, instead of the endless toil of pushing the same paper from one stack to another, day after day, BuearuCorps members get to enjoy the joys of clearing brush for dirtbike trails in our Federal Lands, and also get to contribute to a clean environment, by coming in behind every anti Trump rally, and picking up all the litter, trash, rape-tents and abandoned dogs that are left in the wake of any given herd of leftist protestors rioters.

Only in BureauCorps, can millions of no-longer-necessary Bureaucrats continue to provide a truly meaningful[/] Federal Service, working towards their pensions and benefits, and knowing that this time, they're earning them!

There used to be some really good dirt bike trails in the Mojave Desert.

I nominate it for the inaugural BureauCorps project.

It was a great system of government, but right now not so much because the checks and balances, and other organs are failing before our very eyes.

Interesting factoid:

According to Sandburg's biography of Lincoln, the residents of D.C. seemed to be as excited about Lincoln's presidency as modern day D.C. seems to be about Trump's presidency.

There are some interesting parallels in how the "establishment" of both times looks at the new president.

Lincoln wasn't of their class. Neither is Trump.

Lincoln doesn't talk with the elite's elocution. Neither does Trump.

Lincolns was seen as trying to break the country apart through war. Trump kind of is too.

I wouldn't go as high as $100k per person, but once these people become ineligible and have been named, there would be a price point where it would be FAR cheaper to give some sort of sweetener to have them leave voluntarily.

Obviously, the follow through would be key, but a family of illegals can easily cost the system well over $100k PER YEAR. And it costs money to find them, process them, go to court, etc

Just basic public school tuition can be $50k a year for a family. And if the stay here long enough, have kids, etc it starts looking real cheap to pay these people to go. That's why they are here in the first place, it's about money.

My first preference though would be kicking them out by force with nothing but the shirt on their back.

It's also important to remember the context. The statement was made at a debate and Romney was commenting on Obama's famous, famous if you are on the right and don't have to pretend it didn't happen, statement that Obama made to Medvedev to tell Vlad he would have more flexibility after the election. In retrospect, its obvious he was talking about the negotiations of the P5+1 to kill the sanctions on Iran.

Romney said it was concerning because while Iran may be the single biggest threat at the moment, Russia was our single biggest geopolitical foe because they were more a puppet master than puppet. Obama then mocked him for his Cold War view of foreign policy and the smart set agreed.

Yep. Exactly my thought, and the motivation for the proposal. Lottery winners are drawn from those purchasing lottery tickets, i.e., those whose math skills are ... vestigial, shall we say.*Both my proposal and lotteries select for the none-too-bright.
* Once, in Las Vegas another grad student and I calculated the true odds on keno (essentially bingo). It turns out the house drop on keno is about 25% (IIRC). So your expectation value would be 0.75^n, where n is the number of times you play. Sounds great, huh?

296 I have long suggested offering cold, hard cash to people in return for their giving up the right to vote in perpetuity.

As much as I would love that idea, no way would the Court's go for that. Even in our Founding, supposedly one of many reasons only property owners could vote was the fear the underclass could be bought off for votes for cheap.

But an illegal being paid to leave or someone voluntarily excluding themselves would likely hold up.

Like when people take Social Security, they instantly become ineligible for other entitlements like welfare.

298 Also, I don't buy for a minute that these people would vote the same way regardless of their job, every election cycle DC goes 90% plus Democrat. You can't tell me there's not a cause and effect going on there. Not even ultra liberal cities like LA or NYC vote that way.

And now it's crept into places like VA that used to be reliably Republican.

And yet, the suburbs of Sacramento, where a good many state of CA workers live, remains one of the few bright spots for the GOP in CA.

Sacramento proper, on the other hand, is either:

1) the Poor Hipster's Portlandia or San Francisco, especially the Midtown district, so there is THAT strata of state workers.

2) Ghetto, especially the Oak Park, Fruitridge, Florin, or Meadowview districts, and there is THAT strata of state workers, too.

I'm seeing state statistics that claim that 1 in 9 Virginians is a foreign-born immigrant (2013), and that just over half that number vote. In 1970, that figure was one in 100.

A quick drive through Arlington, Fairfax, Richmond, and Tidewater seems to confirm the demographic shift. I've lived here long enough to see the demographic and political shift, and I'd chalk up a large portion of the latter to the former.

300 The Question is--where? I rule out the Carribbean because it is still too close.
Options:
1. Liberia--historical, even though politically it is a mess.
2. Sierra Leone--see Ghana above, but British rather than American.
3. Ghana: " (W. E. B. DuBois settled in Ghana in his last years and is buried in Accra), and the government has made controversial overtures to gain more Afro-American residents and tourists, including enacting a right of abode law in 2001." (from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American_settlement_in_Africa)
4. South Africa: Geogrpahically about as far from the USA as you can get, and industrialized. But not sure how many rand to the dollar.

Wherever will take them, would be my reflexive answer. The Caribbean IS too close, but in any case would rapidly fill up and refuse to take more.

So I'm thinking the Motherland would be the obvious destination. Where in the Motherland is between them and the countries in question.

________

I'm sure it's a lot of factors, but isn't it funny that whenever there are federal jobs that are big on Affirmative Action type hiring practices a certain demographic swarms to those places?

.It can certainly change, but it can change both ways. Kentucky is a good example. Democrats controlled the House there for over 90 years without a break and had the Governorship for the majority of that time also. But Republicans mounted a strong comeback last year and took over the House for the first time since 1921.

The pendulum swings both ways.

305 Start by disarming all of the "Soft Agencies" which have no need of their arsenals or their little armies. It'll be easier to roll tanks in the coup de crat.

306 If you think this year's budget is where it ends, you are wrong. That is only the beginning of the slashing. Do it in pieces, over the course of 8 years and you kill the beast. Congress would not have the guts to do it in a dramatic fashion, so this is only a first step toward righting the ship.
