Whiny, Petulent Press Corps Is Unable To Report On Secretary Of State's Work Without Help From Government

Entitled much?

Maybe I don't get the 1st Amendment, because I am not a Constitutional ScholarTM, but where is it written that the government is responsible for the transport of the press?

How's this? Do your damned job, and don't rely on the White House to feed you your copy. Yeah, it's quite a change from the previous eight years, but eventually you will get used to it. Or not. Apparently the American people are caring less and less each day about you and your tantrums.

I have long advocated just this approach as a way of dealing with leftists and cutting their budgets. Rather than cut their budgets item by item, just provide them with a lump sum which they have to divide up between themselves.

And watched the uproar that will ensue as they cheap shot each other to get their snouts into the trough.

We had to send missile defense systems to South Korea just recently.

Why would the Chinese assassinate Kim Jung Un? The Chinese have been pulling the strings of whatever Kim's been in charge for three generations now. This idea the Chinese are exasperated at the latest Kim's hijinks is pure baloney. The day Kim Jung Un makes a move of his own initiative is the day another Kim takes his place. That's why I think the nerve gas attack on his brother was a desperate attempt to forestall the Chinese.

283 "Let me be very clear: The policy of strategic patience has ended," Tillerson said at a news conference in Seoul with Yun Byung-se, the South Korean foreign minister. He was referring to the Obama administration policy of trying to wait North Korea out, hoping that sanctions would prove so crippling that Pyongyang would have no choice but to return to denuclearization negotiations.
"We're exploring a new range of diplomatic, security and economic measures. All options are on the table," Tillerson said. While the United States does not want military conflict, threats "would be met with an appropriate response," he added.

The problem with this is that the Federal contribution as a percentage of their budgets is nugatory. Federal funding for Meals on Wheels is 3% of their budget, right?

I'm quite happy for these programs to continue. But losing Federal money is not going to kill them, nor even dent most of them.

I recall traveling through Ireland a few years back and marveling how all the museums and exhibits were free, courtesy of this or that EU program. Thank you, German taxpayer.

That's actually the legal structure of militia in Texas -- reporting to the sheriff, and the sheriffs report to the Governor. I think that's the legal basis for "calling out the posse." In most states, there is a militia law regulating the unorganized militia, as well as the National Guard. (In fact, all of them as far as I'm aware.) And all males from 17 to 45 except those on active duty or in the reserve, clergy, and a few other exceptions are a part of the Militia of the United States (which is the legal basis for the draft).
