I don't have a Vic update.... maybe he will update himself in the comments today?

Right, Tim, there were 2 updates yesterday that his bacterial count (in his bloodstream?) was continuing to rise. This is always a worry point when the colon has been cut and resewn. And he was soooo close to going home.

Best wishes to the Vic family.

9 Good morning. I tried to watch Mike Pence's speech in Munich live (on television, I'm not putting on pants so early) but the translator's monotone made it really unpleasant...

Anyway, here's a progg news take over here that I think will spread to US media: Today Pence said the US is the greatest ally of Europe. But earlier Trump said NATO is obsolete. Therefore, there must be an internal rift/power struggle inside Trump's administration! ZOMG!

Statement is not mutually exclusive : the fact that NATO needs retooling (because it's got a fucking theocratic dictatorship as one of it's largest members) does not mean the US is no longer an ally of assorted European nations. But progg 'journalists' need a woobie, and "internal rift" is real cuddly.

More significant, I think, is Mattis's appearance in Europe and the subsequent announcement that NATO EU nations will now be buying more joint strike aircraft and forming a new NATO command around them.

The EU is now upping its defense spending, just as Trump demanded. More #Winning.

17 Also did you guys see this? An American farmer won a biathlon World Cup, after starting in the last position to start the race. Made all the shots on the first attempt. First American to ever be world champion in this event.

Probably the skiing part keeps biathlon from being more popular in the US, which is sad because the shooting part is a lot of fun.

I really wouldn't call cross country "skiing". If there were real skiing in the biathalon it would probably be pretty popular (as winter sports go). Cross country "skiing" is the winter equivalent of the old walking races, which are now restricted to the Special Olympics.

Not just the media, also the politicians. As soon as Trump suggested Europeans should be allowed to choose whether or not they wish to be be ruled by the EU, they all fell all over each other to denounce the idea. I look at the Weather Underground site because it will give you the hourly report too for your area. But, their weather almanac, which I would think they're getting the averages, highs, and lows data from, only go back to 1973 for our area. I looked Chicago which gets it's reports from O'hare airport, and that data goes to 1946.

So at the least, the Mesozoic era.

I think the number was around 23 or 25. For an unelected 'position'.

First ladies have had staff in the White House since the end of the nineteenth century. Eleanor Roosevelt's secretary and assistant were a typical first lady's staff until the Truman White House added a military aide and secretary. The presidential family paid the first lady's staff from personal accounts until they became a federal budget item in 1978.

I have a theory the left is shoplifting anything with the trump name on it. So the question becomes can Sears/Kmart afford to take those kinds of loses.

I don't think any retailer could. Nor could they take the risk of publicly admitting the real reason for dropping the line.

I seem to recall that online purchases (where the odds of shoplifting are nill) continue.

We'll never know the truth, because the left can't handle the truth.

The doctor wanted him to stay until it was gone, or at least going down, but Vic wanted to get out. Yesterday (Friday) morning he had to go back to get more blood work, and that showed an even greater increase (about 35%). They admitted him back to the hospital.

This morning he's griping because he doesn't think they're doing anything except drawing blood and giving him pills he could take at home. I think the infection needs to be cleared up before I take him home.

Fortunately, he's at my mercy for transportation! That means I'm in control of when he gets to ride back home! If he had his way, he'd be home with appointment for checking infection levels sometime next week.

What can Trump do about the NOAA? I noticed that for the past few months I haven't seen any more announcements, like "December was the warmest recorded in history! January was the warmest recorded in history!" so maybe they are quaking in their boots. But it would be nice to see the rot dealt with and deprive all the news outlets of their fodder.

Simplify the tax code to the point where 3/4ths of the IRS auditors can be turned loose on Government agencies and their budgets/spending. The IRS could then self fund with the clawbacks and savings, DEA style.

89 I find it strange (not really) that some of these big retailers would "suddenly" find Ivana Trump's merchandise "not selling" and make an announcement they were dropping the product. Can Sears/Kmart really afford to do this?

A lot of people may not realize that there is an organized boycott movement targeting the Trumps and Ivankain particular:

I've been buying Black Rifle Coffee for several months since I first heard about it. They always shipped within two or three days after I ordered. Last time they took two weeks, and they even put up a notice on their website. So it sounds like business is booming for them. I don't know whether word of mouth reached critical mass, or whether they got mentioned in the media somewhere.

While I watch him occasionally, I wouldn't be called "Well versed" on the Milo movement.

That being said, what I see is a very colorful person, who actually has a fairly large amount of substance in his commentary and discourse.

It just tends to get hidden behind the flamboyancy.

He's not stupid.

Nor shallow.

105 I must admit that I really don't "get" the whole Milo thing. Admittedly I have never really listened to him speak. Is he more than just a novelty? Where did he emerge from? Is there any substance (vs. style)?

Milo has substance. There's a BBC debate he does with a feminist over pay for women where he's heavily armed with facts and pretty much blows her out of the water.

There's lots of clips on YouTube that shows how well he is prepared. Frankly, the flamboyance tends to overshadow that.

The tempo of the show is so high that all the participants have their quiver full of rhetorical points, and they lob them when they think the time is right.

To me, that intersection (vis-a-vis the political spectrum) is going to be one of the keys in the US moving forward. I find it both interesting and daunting, figuring out how those two ideologies are going to marry up.

I fall more on the constitutional conservative side of that divide. Missus Muldoon probably has a little more tilt toward the libertarian side. We differ a fair amount re: marijuana, for example.

__________________________

It's crazy for any sane person to support islam. What rational person, who believes in a Divine Creator, could believe that said Creator wants his creations to destroy one another? And muslims claim they believe that Jesus was a great prophet, but they ignore everything He taught. How does that make sense? And why would any woman want to be part of a religion/ideology that says women are lesser beings than men? How much self-loathing as a woman would you have to have to be willing to accept a life where men dictate what you must wear, where you can go, who you can see, what you can do, etc.

Milo is right about gays being crazy for accepting islam, which wants to destroy them, but it's pretty damn crazy for anybody to accept this hideous ideology.

So, Trump must've scored a lot of heavy duty direct hits if the MSM feels they have to wheel out the big guns....well...

and the joke they highlighted was so incredibly lame it was pitiful.

One big point Milo makes is gays supporting Muslims....Sort of like
"Gays for Allah" or something. Just before they throw you off the roof.
He doesn't understand how they can support what they do, or the
religion.

__________________________

It's crazy for any sane person to support islam. What rational
person, who believes in a Divine Creator, could believe that said
Creator wants his creations to destroy one another? And muslims claim
they believe that Jesus was a great prophet, but they ignore everything
He taught. How does that make sense? And why would any woman want to
be part of a religion/ideology that says women are lesser beings than
men? How much self-loathing as a woman would you have to have to be
willing to accept a life where men dictate what you must wear, where you
can go, who you can see, what you can do, etc.

Milo is right about gays being crazy for accepting islam, which
wants to destroy them, but it's pretty damn crazy for anybody to accept
this hideous ideology.

If by "Outreach" you mean shooting them into space towards the sun.

But, we would need a bigger shuttle.

And only send them at night, when the sun isn't so hot.

This was the actual quotation by Charles Boldin to Al Jazeera:"When I became the NASA Administrator, (President Obama) charged me with three
things," Bolden
said in the interview which aired last week. "One, he wanted me to help
re-inspire children to want to get into science and math; he wanted me
to
expand our international relationships; and third, and perhaps
foremost, he
wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage
much more
with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their
historic
contribution to science, math and engineering." Note that there was nothing in there about, you know, actually exploring space.
