6 Foist?

As for what I'm doing today, it's catching up on chores around the house. There's never enough time during the week, and working past 2 a.m. on weekend nights wrecks me...so I gave my notice at the karaoke bar yesterday. I'm just tired of the gig and never feeling fully rested. My hours and pay there have been cut down so much it's not worth my time even if it wasn't wrecking my health.

The regular job, though, is going well. I just need to find another way to suppliment it.

16 Rain here in southern AZ. None today (so far) but it poured Friday night, and I woke up to a lake in my backyard Saturday. Ground was still sodden from last week's rains, so the water just pooled on top.

We need the water, so I shouldn't complain, but yikes I'm tired of rain. And it's supposed to rain again tomorrow.

48 I may not have been a model Christian this morning. During the post-service meeting to discuss business and resolutions to the State convention, we were told first that giving from our church to the Diocese and from our Diocese to the national church, was way below average (VA is one of the few states that doesn't automatically get billed by the National Church).

After that, were two resolutions to consider. The first was to provide 12 weeks of paid maternity leave to all church employees and 2 weeks of paid paternity leave, and to lobby the State Government to make this entitlement universal.

The second was to lobby the State Government to extend the Medicaid provisions of the ACA to everyone in the state.

Yours truly pretty much blew the proverbial gasket. I started by pointing out that the church was not a PAC, and asked if the people recommending this stuff understood the damage their last foray into politics had done to the Church, as witnessed by the extremely low level of giving to the Diocese and the National Church? I should have discussed the difference between charity and extortion, but ran out of time. I really should have finished with "Do you want more Trump, because this is how you get more Trump". None of what I said was in a very soft tone.

I am so damn sick of these people.

92 Donald Trump is going to have a much easier time of instituting his policies at the local level.

Why?

Because we have 33 state legislatures and the lion's share of governorships.

That's why your seeing the Holy Shit We're In Big Trouble articles dropping fast and furious.

The Left didn't think it mattered because they're at heart totalitarians and believed holding the White House is all that mattered. Liberal president can just issue edicts and we win!

They've also kept tripping over their dicks thinking the Grand Demographic Change has happened. We'll win forever!

As those Holy Shit articles have pointed out, however, those Grand Demographic Changes aren't happening in a way that will effect the Electoral College. Obama's efforts to ship minorities into red states, along with the HUD let's move 'em into white areas, isn't going to bear fruit for a long time. The HUD decree may well be junked now (I hope).

If Trump follows through on deportations and a Muslim ban? Those changes will be further kicked down the road.

Trump will face opposition in Blue States, largely over his efforts to end sanctuary cities.

They've pledged to fight it.

They'll lose and here's why: Trump can turn off the federal gravy spigot for at least the next four years.

Even in good times Blue State cities are groaning under the strain of exploding pension schemes and gibsmedats to the underclasses.

If Trump dries up the funds things are going to get interesting REAL fast.

They'll have to make a decision about funding the illegals, maintaining the gravy train to the black underclass, or shoring up the pension train wrecks.

They will of course have to try to increase taxation on actual producers to keep the plates spinning, which will likely lead to the producers leaving for places that are booming thanks to Trump's pro-growth policies.

Guess what happens then? Someone has to make a decision between two minority groups. How do you think that will work out?

They're going to cave. They'll have to cave. It's either tossing the illegals under the bus or having to deal with riots when they have to make the tough decisions.

Temperature in the mid-50s. Rained through the night and into the morning, but now it's blue skies and some threads of puffy white clouds. Nice day for any month, much less January.

Waiting for that final word on my eldest brother (73), in the hospital with cancer and complications (some doctor-induced), sedated, not expected to wake again. I believe in miracles, but they aren't always what we hope for.

Younger sister is sitting with him. She's having a hard time watching him fade. She's 15 years younger than he is, so, almost a kind of father or uncle relationship.

Our daughter went down yesterday to stay with our mom (96), took her to church this morning. So hard to lose a child at any age, but Mom's enduring. (She's already "lost" our middle brother, hatefully estranged and reclusive, lost many years ago.)

And Milady and I are still crawling back from the awful flu we got after Christmas. Just a shallow cough remaining but obnoxious.

More than you wanted to know, perhaps, but now you know... the wrest of the stoli.

Oh, yeah, and Chelsea Clinton will never be First Daughter again.

Are Liberals literally unable to use their eyes and ears to see the hypocrisy or must they check with the elders of the tribe to find out if the sky is blue? Maybe it's not blue. By the way, except for the liberal enclaves in Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, and a few gated communities in Oakland County, Michigan loathes him too. I don't think even Flint cares about him.

184 The drapes are very pretty even though they were President Clinton's originally. The rug was President Reagan's. Apparently all the Oval Office decorations and furniture of former presidents are stored in the White House ready to be used again. President Trump will be able to have his office newly decorated later if he wants to. (President Trump- writing that gives me goosebumps and a tear in my eye.)
Posted by: Molly's Mom at January 22, 2017 02:29 PM (EwGtF)

I'm still under the impression that Trump will be working out of an office in the executive building because the Oval office needs a full remodel overhaul that will take a year(this president will insist it be done on time and under budget). A full tear out of the walls, etc. to install more updated communications, security, etc. Obama refused to allow it to happen this past year during his tenancy, and therefore, Trump will need to work somewhere else.

I was neither patient nor understanding. I yelled at him, called the police on him, installed cameras (the video of a rock coming over the fence and the various signs he put up on my side of the fence was the determining factor for the judge). However, he knew where the cameras were positioned and worked around them. The police did numerous stake-outs to catch him but he would wait it out at his leisure. His wife lied for him - I have no idea what she is thinking, especially since he continued throwing things, and bananas encased in a condom was one. This couple is old. How on earth could he explain that he was buying condoms to his wife of 45 odd years?

Solid copper bullets for the most part. I think Barnes makes them. And yes, they're expensive.

The problem with solid copper, aside from any performance issues, is that in some jurisdictions they are classified as "armor piercing", so it's another maze of laws that hunters have to navigate to ensure that they're legal.

The [Black Lives Matter] man who shot someone outside a speech at the University of Washington (UW) by conservative provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos said his victim was a "white supremacist," and police let the shooter go, even as the victim is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

In what appears to be a case of mistaken identity by the "anti-racism" vigilante, the shooting victim later turned out to be a supporter of Bernie Sanders.

Note: The Black Lives Matter is "anti-racism" while Milo is a "conservative provocateur".

P.S. One leftist thug shoots another leftist thug and the university president blames Milo.

I'll check tonight to see who won today's games. Given my name, I just can't help liking the "Pats".

I just finished a lunch break. I'm about to go back to labeling photos and yearbooks. My brother sent me a box of things my late parents owned, and I'm labeling things so that whoever inherits the box will know what all the things are.

Husband and I thought about going outside (after he gets off a phone call), to see if we can get a little more ice off the driveway. We did get quite a bit cleared yesterday, since we'd had several days above freezing and the ice was rotten enough to break up. Today we have strong winds, so the next cold front is definitely on its way in... I've thought for a long time this is why there won't be another Civil War. How it plays out is that the blue states will tax producers to try to maintain benefits that are getting cut by the Feds, further driving producers to the red states. The result will be urban unrest -- no go zones, the whole shebang -- enclaves that are de facto controlled by gangs/militias, even though they're nominally still part of the city, and the gangs/militias will be engaged in pretty much constant low-intensity conflict with each other. We iin the red states will have to deal with refugees from the cities -- in many cases, our relatives and friends. Eventually with reapportionment and reallocation following a couple of census cycles, and possibly with a Convention of the States as the backdrop, we will be able to dictate a new constitutionalism that limits the scope of federal government.

I use the same general cleaning method on all of my long guns - from plain old plinkers to 100+ year old martial arms to custom competition rifles:
-10 or so passes with Hoppes 9 on a nylon brush, and repeat. This knocks down the carbon ring forward of the chamber. Then 3 or 4 cotton patches with Hoppes. Then 3 or 4 dry patches until they come out clean. Then one or two patches with isopropyl alcohol, and finally (if the gun is going to be stored for more than a few days) a patch with gun oil. After all of that I use an oversize bore mop to swab out the chamber and try not to let any of the above run back into the trigger mechanism.

Sounds exactly what we just got out of here in Washington/Oregon. I am so done with the ice - I was trying to open the gate and put concrete blocks against it to keep it from blowing around in the gale-force winds.
I slipped and in order to prevent falling to the ground my hand hit the gate and it was out (my hand) of commission for weeks - the weeks I was trying to pack up my belongings. Not fun. The winter can go, and go now.

396 I am sodden with grief.

Yordano!! our darling boy; our little hermano; a pitcher destined for greatness, learning to master his temper -- he was a player only a mother, or a besotted fan base, could love.

The organization, who raised him from a pup, understood that the temper came from the toughness of his childhood, his competitive nature, his fierce loyalty to his teammates and coaches that prompted the bristling and the occasional inappropriate reaction.

We will always cherish the gutsy brilliance of the 2014 WS Game 6, when before the game he'd scratched "OT" on his cap (in memory of buddy Oscar Tavares). Or the goofiness of what became a much-loved local radio drop: "We going to the World Serious [sic] againnnn, baaa-beeeeee!!" (in the clubhouse, after winning the 2015 ALCS). Or the much-caricatured pucker-up from his wind-up. Or his beaming, gorgeous grin, that lit up the dugout and fans' hearts.

I think there was something about ammo commonality with the rest of NATO, but the US kept the 1911 on long after forcing everybody else to go with the 5.56 so that sounds sketchy. Controllability and capacity, probably.

But they should have gone with the SIG P226 if they were going to replace the 1911 in the first place.

498 Unconfirmed scuttlebutt: carbines and Garands in S. Korea are owned by them, therefore will not be part of any CMP sales, but could be imported commercially; furthermore, many/most are in very beat-up condition. Both parts of this may be incorrect, though I think the first part true.

As for 1911 sales, recall CMP's mission is not surplus firearm sales, those sales are a means to their end (their mission). They've probably been leaving $$$ on the table for a few years with their Garand sales, and HXP ammo sales, though they may have made enough adjustments by now. Depends on the market, but service grade Garands could be re-sold privately with a 20-30% immediate mark-up in recent years.

I have a partner who is traveling in Nigeria right now. He said the inauguration speech was very well received. Another two reasons why they are sick of the Obama Administration: (1) The constant LGBT agenda in Nigeria from the US: (2) We have directly paid Muslim leaders in-country and Kerry posed with them.

I used to observe and track the Nigerian pipeline news when several years back for stock research at work, and it looks to be an erratic nation-state at best and basketcase at worst.

Seems to me this may be another example of what Steve Bannon has associated the uptick trend of global independence and nationalist movements much like Trump's ascension here.

...but the thought police will tell us it's a false-positive because Michelle O's hashtag diplomacy effectively wiped out Boko Haram singlehandedly.

BOSTON (KDKA) - The Pittsburgh Steelers may not be facing off against the New England Patriots on a full night of sleep.

KDKA's Rich Walsh reports that fire alarms started going off around 3 a.m. Sunday at the Boston hotel where the Steelers and many fans are staying.

Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene to check things out as guests waited outside.

Hotel personnel said the entire hotel had to be evacuated, but it ended up being a false alarm.

You see, populism is a danger. Did you know that? Oh - and populism just might be what You Know Who is bringing to the party.

Oh - and flaunting his historical erudition, the idiot said that Hitler didn't steal power. Guess he might want to look into that whole chapter that the Nazis themselves referred to as "the seizure of power", which came after the last real election, and which rendered all future elections empty exercises.

Oh - and as if that weren't enough, he quadrupled down on ignorance by saying that Germany built "walls and barbed wire so that others cannot take away their identity". WTFF? Seems this particularly stupid misstatement of well-known history was in service to his cretinous, vile effort to associate national borders with racism.

541 Question about South Korean Garands/carbines is only whether they were part of govt/govt loan program, vs. foreign military sales, not their origin (US, as stated by others). If latter, as I believe is the case, then CMP would not be in line for any of them - CMP gets govt/govt returns, via DOD, then sells them to support CMP programs.

Commercial export to US is the option for South Korea-owned items. I think most assume new admin. would approve such sales.

I am a big fan of a product called ColdFX. It's a ginseng (plus other stuff) preparation in capsules, and it's designed to (and seems to work for me) stop a cold in its tracks if you take it at the very onset. A few nights ago, I had been in Calgary for the day, and hence meeting a number of people, had a scratchy throat upon my return home. Popped three of the capsules, and that was it. No cold.

If I take it when I sense the very onset of a cold, it nearly always works. Once the cold is established, it's a waste of money to take it.

I don't know if Cherry is still doing ads for them or not, but the product is still in stores.
