But in the past, when we didn't get the nominee we wanted in the primaries or caucuses, we still dutifully fell in line behind the nominee for the general election.
The NeverTrump petulants didn't do that. A lot of them still haven't.
I remember when the Establishment pooh-poohed GOP Purists for not accommodating realities and not supporting their guy in the general election.
But when the shoe was on the other foot???? NO such reciprocity.
And don't think they would have shown reciprocity had Ted Cruz been nominated, either. They would not.

When someone uses the 'phone to threaten some highly placed public office, do you take legal action against the 'phone company?
Especially since the rules where changed and the internet is regulated under the FCC rules for 'phone companies.
Good thing we have lawyers who can sort this all out.

Facebook is refusing to even comment on why it took 30 minutes with 1000s of people watching to cut the feed. They are refusing to release the number of complaints they recieced during the live feed.
I'd say they know they are fucked and are praying it goes away.

What you say is largely true. However, I don't condemn people for their beliefs if they're truly held, and based in part on the facts as we then know them. (Obviously that's different for people who have strongly held beliefs that they're entitled to hurt other people.)
Trump was a buffoon, at least that's the persona he projected at the time, probably because it was politically useful. His debate performances were stream of consciousness babbling undergirded by no facts that he cared to name.
He clearly had a plan, but most of us didn't see it. That doesn't mean we were wrong based on what we could see.

No question, the Never Trump thing got really blown up this year. But in 2012, while it wasn't as intense, there was certainly a very prominent part of the Party that stayed Never Romney right up until election day. There were even sites like Red State that would ban people just for saying something nice about Romney. They were just warming up for Trump.
Hell, DrewM ran a Never Romney parade of candidates on this very blog for months.
And I can't put blame on all the establishment. Priebus was very loyal and his building of a field organization over the last 4 years is probably the biggest and least reported aspect of Trump's win. Sean Spicer also came right from the RNC to Team Trump.
There were some people acting dickishly this cycle. At least more prominently than in years past if not bigger in numbers. But Trump won. If he had lost I'd be happy to go to the mattresses. Now I just point and laugh.

I understand this. I grew up in the San Fransicko area, and I knew a few at UC Berkeley who were actually quite attractive, believe it or not.
And a then still virgin I went on a quixotic quest to try to be with them. I gues you could have called me Man Of La Rug Muncha.
There was even one of them, a short squat and unattractive one, who became friendly to me and sort of pretected me in the inevitable awkward situations I got myself into and she was my female Sancho Panza of sorts.
But this failed, and then I discovered the East Asian Persuasion.
Another friend surnamed Van Doorn and I became members of the Asian Business Association on campus (yes, they took White people) and we ran with that crowd.
We called ourselves the English and Dutch East India Companies, looking for lady pearls of the Orient.
It was an interesting time. :-)
