Rockette (Apparently the Rockettes Still Exist) Complains of Being "Forced" To Perform at Trump Inauguration; Liberals Start Speaking Up for... Wait for it... Freedom of Conscience in Refusing to Serve Some Would-Be Patrons

A gallon of irony spilled, but not a drop splashed on the progressives.

Rockette Phoebe Pearl said in an Instagram post Thursday night that she was "embarrassed and disappointed" to appear at the event.

"I usually don't use social media to make a political stand but I feel overwhelmed with emotion," Pearl wrote.

I'd be curious to look into this claim. As near as I can tell, all progressives do is use social media to talk about their political feelz of the day.

...

Pearl said she felt uncomfortable about the performance, given Trump's history with unsavory language and assault allegations....

'I am speaking for just myself but please know that after we found out this news, we have been performing with tears in our eyes and heavy hearts #notmypresident"

According to Broadwayworld.com, the Rockettes were sent an email by their union that told them they were not able to "boycott" the event.

"Everyone is entitled to her own political beliefs, but there is no room for this in the workplace," the email read.

"If you are not full time, you do not have to sign up to do this work. If you are full time, you are obligated."

Of course progressives have dropped their Bake Me a Cake, Cake-Bitch line to start screaming that no one should ever be forced to perform a service or sell a good to someone who's political beliefs they object to.

Including George Takei, widely known for being Star Trek's first openly-retarded actor:

I've seen some low-IQ progressives (is there any other kind?) attempting to argue against the inarguable: that they're now reversing their previous stance (Bake Me a Cake, Cake-Bitch) simply because they agree with this person.

I've seen some of this on Twitter (I don't see progz very often besides Twitter, I mean, except for all of television and movies and magazines and newspapers), and their argument seems to be: "This is different because Reasons, Stupid."

We are coming to a flashpoint in all of this. We used to have a Rule of Law, where certain actions -- not certain people -- were outlawed. One could or could not do this or say this. All of this depended on the action, not the actor.

One might disagree with the law that one must provide services to any traveler if one were in the business of providing a "public accomdation" (hotels and restaurants near major travel routes), but even if one disagreed with the law, one could at least find solace in the idea that the law would protect one as well as others. Sure, maybe you couldn't discriminate against person x, but then, no one could refuse to rent a hotel room to you just because they "didn't like the looks of you."

But that's changing -- and quickly. We no longer have a Rule of Law, but a Rule of Status. It is not the action which is proscribed; it is the actor himself made outlaw. Some people -- progressives, members of "protected classes," members of Obama's political coalition -- have the right to do whatever they want and break any alleged "law" they like with impunity.

Meanwhile, the laws are applied with iron force to those outside the Coalition of the Privileged. And because these laws fall only on the Officially Disfavored Classes, the Officially Favored Class never has to ask themselves, "Wait, do I want this rule, given that I might myself be pinioned by it?" Because, of course, they know full well they never will be pinioned by it.

They are First Class Citizens. The rest of us are Coach or Steerage.

We must defer to our Superiors.

And mark my words: this Brave Special Snowflake Dissenter will in fact be excused from the arduous duty of doing her job.

It might even just be Trump who excuses her -- because who wants a potential saboteur on stage?

And mark my words as well: This is the end of civil society and a peaceful America. Because no man will accept being made a second-class citizen.

You want war? Keep it up. And I don't mean social war. I don't mean Twitter war.

I mean the bloody kind.

Keep it up, fellas. Keep it up.

6 I don't see the problem here. It some of the Rockettes do not want to do the jobs they're being paid to do, they can quit, and others can be hired in their place. Problem solved.

7 Not ironic, not calvinball.

It's because these are the "correct" positions to hold.

There's no more equal treatment under the law, there is only protected class, and not protected class.

38 What the Left does not understand is that they are forcing two things, which will not be to their benefit.

1. They are forcing us to choose tribes. I was once just an American, now, to society, I am a White Heterosexual Man American... not because I CHOSE that ... its because that is now how I am LEGALLY categorized.

2. The rule of law, we created, has protected THEM from US... because of our own good manners, and respect for the Law, THEY have been safe while attacking us....

So they are forcing us to choose sides... and they are destroying the very thing that kept them safe...

Interesting times are ahead.

traveler if one were in the business of providing a "public accomdation"
(hotels and restaurants near major travel routes), but even if one
disagreed with the law, one could at least find solace in the idea that
the law would protect one as well as others

That law has always been blatantly unconstitutional which is why Barry Goldwater voted against it. And he said so at the time. My feeling has always been if a buisness wants to cut its own throat not serving certain segments of society let them have at it.

But it is no longer even remotely related to interstate travel in any manner. If you have a buisness located in the middle of the Okefenokee Swamp and you refuse to serve bullfrogs you can stand by for a visit from the corrupt DOJ.

I am not going to go out of my way to help someone who always votes for the people promising to destroy this country. 154 Interesting insights, Ace.

This post reminded me of the 2015 dystopian British film ""High-Rise"

The film is set in a luxury tower block during the 1970s. Featuring a wealth of modern conveniences, the building allows its residents to become gradually uninterested in the outside world. The infrastructure begins to fail and tensions between residents become apparent, and the building soon descends into chaos.

The tower is the epitome of chic, modern living. The upper echelons of society live in the top floors, while more common families live in the lower ones. The high-rise provides its tenants with a swimming pool, gym, spa, supermarket and even a primary school. There is little reason to leave the building outside of working hours and its occupants gradually become isolated from the outside world.

Law and order begin to disintegrate in the building due to the failing infrastructure and increasing tensions between floors. Violence becomes commonplace, food from the supermarket becomes scarce and the building devolves into class warfare between floors. Garbage bags are piled high in the fire and there are spot-fires and graffiti through the lower floors.

The folks on the upper floors reminded me of New York Times loving limousine liberals who could never imagine having a beer with a coal miner or a roughneck from the North Dakota oil fields. The chaos that ensued after things started failing apart in the tower (mechanically and socially) was both fascinating and horrifying.

Stay turgid, Morons.

Completely agree!

Kinda glad the celebrities are boycotting because that was always an annoying part of Obama's presidency - the way he was more thrilled about hanging with the celebrities in CA, and the celebrities partying in the WH like they owned it (Beyonce and JayZ in the situation room, skateboarders and workout shows throughout the halls, etc.). 161 Trump should just Nugent and Kid Rock to perform and keep it simple. Save costs and use the extra budget for the veterans. Or better yet have all the veterans present and give them a nice party. Bonus for having Kid Rock is he can wear his dumbfuckistan tshirt and piss off the liberals.
---

Kid Rock also has a great jersey; the back reads: Fucks Given 0.

Also.. there's the Marine Corps Silent Drill Team which is awesome.

And various armed services have bands.

Could be awesome from that standpoint.

Now, and aside: in an obscure entertainment trade magazine, there was an article a month or two ago about people turning down work because they didn't agree with the politics of their employer. A designer, who also is the editor of the magazine, came out and say how stupid that was-- clients are clients, and they give you a chance to showcase your work and actually pay you. Admitted that once of his favorite clients happens to be Not Liberal.

169 the double standard of the left is nothing new, but as they change our laws it becomes revealed they have no intention of applying those laws (evenly) to themselves.

As with gun laws, they are only to be used as a weapon against the law abiding. The cartels (armed by Holder) and BLM thugs have an exemption of sorts (disparate impact, for one). Same with immigration, laws only apply to the law abiding Europeans, but 20 million illegals deserve sanctuary and amnesty.

The difference that brings confrontation will be an executor that executes the law, rather than selective enforcement for anti-American purposes.

Not likely. The Stones asked Trump not to play "You Can't Always Get What You Want" at his rallies. Employees don't have to comply, though. It's called quitting.

So, win-win

It's the usual ineffective caterwauling, but still: The left truly thinks and is trying to make it impossible to cooperate with Trump or his administration.

I am so sorry. The Academy bands (not made up of cadets; they are professional military musicians) are no longer premier-ranked US military bands. They were demoted under Obama, and their senior musicians and directors dispersed to the senior organizations. The still play well for Academy events (like, lunch, every damn day), but these are not the bands you are looking for.

We have a LOT of rebuilding to do. I am still bitter about the 555th.

Just because the commies don't land Red Dawn style, does not mean we have to surrender to them. They have been invading by fellow travelers marching through our institutions, and foreign funded subversives have taken the "high ground" in Hollywood, media, schools, etc. Even if they manage to import an army welfare Dem voters, "we" still must fight them before surrendering liberty.

Europe is in worse shape, but their immigrant invaders are more united and more violent.

I'm pretty positive I'm thinking of Mark Taylor in 2011. There is a video of him doing so and talking about how he will be elected to rebuilt this country.

Also there have been several people who prophesied this. I know Hewbrew scholars and some Jewish religios men predicted it as well before he announced he was running.

It's pretty dang amazing and a miracle if we can be honest about it.

374 Here's my Inauguration story.

I remember when Ricky Martin played for Bush's inauguration. I was working in Arlington, Virginia at the time and it was announced that he and his people would be rehearsing and doing sound checks on the Mall the evening before the Inauguration and the public was welcome to watch. My wife called and we made a plan for her to bring our young kids up to my office, we'd get dinner, and then go to the Mall to see Ricky rehearse.

It was cold as hell out that night. Brutally cold.

We found a spot up against a fence near the stage to watch the action; the five of us were standing there along with what I assumed was a gay male couple.

We had a great time watching him perform Living the Vida Loca in a long coat, hat, scarf and mittens because of the Arctic weather that night.

A local DC TV news crew was there as well. They came up and talked to me and my kids and shot some B-roll. Later that night on the 11 o'clock news our little band of 7 (my family and the couple) was identified in an extremely tight shot as "part of a large and enthusiastic group of Ricky Martin fans, braving to January cold to see him rehearse for tomorrow's Inauguration celebration." LOL

I have hope, too. Trump is just gnarly enough to put things to rights. The Left throws up barriers ("out of the mainstream!" "extremist!" "racist!" "sexist!" "homophobic!" "Islamophobic!") in an attempt to control behavior even when they're out of power.

But their insults and tantrums seem to roll off his back. Instead, he finds ways to punch back twice as hard, unbound by the conventions the leftists have contrived to restrain such punch back. (E.g., that "journalists" perform a "sacred function" in our democracy, so they cannot be criticized.)

And I'm lovin' every minute of it.

So far. The Left will gin up domestic terrorists now in response to Trump, I suspect.

We were VERY divided in 1968 to 1974, but not in the same way as now. The hard left had mobilized a lot of young people in particular (largely through use of the draft as an issue for agitation), but most people (the "silent majority") were still patriotic. So the division was, say, 15% Commies, 85% loyal Americans, with most of the latter more or less apolitical.

Nowadays it feels as though it's more like 40% Commies (or Commie dupes, to be more precise), 40% loyal Americans, and 20% out to lunch.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God...

I saw the division reflected in the stories every day. A lot of it was driven by Vietnam, which was actually a big deal at the time. It forced people to join tribes and to wear their colors openly.

mayhem, lynchings, burnings, blood running through the streets, every
man consumed with bloodlust and killing, and you're saying this is a
*good* thing??

The only reason these snowflakes have proliferated is because their families and friends were unwilling to correct them. they are out of control. Hence, the correction will require extremes in both violence and the theatrics in its application to achieve the desired results.

448 Sulu has nothing to do with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Why on earth would he? He's gay, and the LDS church is either number 1 or 2 on the "Most despised of all groups" by the gays.

All the LDS church has said is that the Mormon Tabernacle Choir has accepted an invitation to perform at the Inauguration, like they have in the past.

Considering that Mormons tend to be very conservative; and the left has openly gone berserk, my guess is that the vast majority of Choir members are excited to perform at the Inauguration. But they would have done it for Hillary if she had won and invited them, too.

449 The only reason people might look forward to or be eager for a civil war is that they know virtually nothing about war or civil wars in particular.

I doubt a single combat vet is in here going "hell yeah, more of that but in my home town!"

459 The fact that these idiots don't understand that it is because of this insanity that Trump won makes them the winners of the all-time oblivious award. For years now the only entry level exam a journalist or talking head needed to pass was progressive bona fides. The incestuous back and forth from media, to think tank, to administrative position, and back to media has rendered these people completely immune to actual thought. For an artist to complain that she doesn't want her art work on Ivanka Trump's wall means she needs to yank every one of her paintings out of every gallery and sell them herself only to specific people she approves of (though this doesn't work for bakers). That these asshats can't understand the sheer hypocrisy: i.e. if anyone had refused an invitation to perform at Obama's inaugural, every liberal in the US would have done everything they could to destroy(!) that entertainer. You wanna talk about the new normal; complete disrespect for the President of the US by the left is the new normal.

469 The Left's logic is actually quite consistent: Mandate or otherwise support/subsidize what they consider morally good; ban or otherwise dissuade/punish what they consider morally evil.

The arguments they use aren't actual logical arguments they believe in. The arguments they use are just lies they use to convince other people at any given time. It is classic John Rawls...

The left is a tribe as has been pointed out here by lots.

That Hideous Strength, a 1945 novel by C. S. Lewis, has a main protagonist that wants to be in the in-group. Lewis captured quite a bit of the Clinton-Obama left in that novel.
