EMT 12/17/16

In honor of Christ's birthday, I've been doing some carpentry projects.

I've cured no lepers, nor have I walked on water, but I did dang near crucify myself.

I'm trying.

1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, December 17, 2016. On this day in 1903 the Wright brothers made the first controlled powered, heavier-than-air flight in the Wright Flyer at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

Throughout all his self-absorbed meandering yesterday, Sir Golfalot made one thing clear - he wasn't going to toss Hillary the life ring of actual voter fraud kept her from winning. Sure, there were timely and perhaps selective releases of information detrimental to her campaign, but no voting fraud carried out by the Rooskies.

He's not going to offer her a pardon. I think yesterday's press conference was his way of saying, "This is as far as I'm going for you; good luck!"

I liked Cruz MUCH better than Trump, and he was making a decent run at it, until he went religious fundamentalist. Now I don't have anything against religion or fundies, but it will get you killed in this country politically every time.

It scares a big majority of the people, because religion (or lack thereof) is too personal for a politician to take sides on.

I was a very public Cruz supporter, but still not sure he couldn't have

~~~~~
I was Cruz all the way as well. However, after the first few primaries, even before he went a bit over the top preacher-y, I just felt that he didn't have the personality to take it all the way. Don't get me wrong--I believe that Cruz is brilliant and faithful to the constitution, and that he would have eviscerated Hillary on the debate stage--but too many people were turned off by him. Sad! (lol)
After watching events unfold in this election cycle, I am convinced that Trump was the only Republican who could have won. He totally disregarded and disrespected the hated media, and was not shy about calling Hillary exactly what she is--a crook. Even Cruz would not have gone that far; instead, he would have tried to explain to everyone the legal and constitutional "ramifications" of Clinton's "indiscretions" and that was never gonna fly. What we wanted was "Lock her up!"
More importantly, I believe, Americans were sick and tired of being losers on the world stage, both economically and militarily. There are millions of patriotic Americans who truly do want to make America great again, and Trump sounded that trumpet.
102 Jumping in here to avoid having a willowed comment in the relevant thread --
I'm torn about the Times capsizing. I worked at a medium metro newspaper (copy desk) for 26 years, and I loved it; disagreements with a few co-workers notwithstanding. I never intended to leave the business, but that decision was made for me.
I liked to read the NYT, partly because of the archaic layout and the great headlines. The writing was good, too. This was during the '80s and '90s, when Safire was spinning gold and before Dowd got a column.
Something happened, probably BDS, and I abandoned it. I started to get Times stories through reports of its biasrf stories. Online reports, at that.
Now the print media is circling the drain. Layout and headline writing are becoming lost skills. My former newspaper has reduced its width twice since my departure. The former powerhouses are fading.
I can join in the glee at the demise of slanted, distorted news, but I will also mourn at the loss of something once precious.
Husband and I rushed in and rescued him, but he had no idea where he was. We have our hallways gated and we thought the locks were pretty good. We found out he can unlock them. We will be out today for a better locking system. We have a ranch style, so I don't have to worry about stairs, but going out the front door is worrisome. Especially today when we have freezing rain and sleet and ice covering everything. He's been with us for 10 years now and we thought we had the house pretty well set up for him. 168 Wow, Abby. That's terrible. To be an adult and so unable to maturely handle an election result. This election has really brought out some scary mental health breakdown reactions in a lot of people. As sad (and oh, I was...) and dejected as I was in '08 and '12, I never lost my mind. I don't like the trajectory the left is portraying in not getting what they want. It's frightening. I hope your children do find peace with it, for your sake.
170 I think most anti Trump people will come around or at least soften when they see economy pick up, abortion will still be legal and illegals won't be rounded up like it was 1938 Germany. But of course oil will be flowing out again so environmental nuts will still be unhappy.
172 it's unfortunate much of the left actyally believe their own propaganda.
look if believed our betters we would have actually thought we had checks and balances between powers and wouldn't have to concern ourselves with what's happened the last decades, we'd just work look forward to our 401ks and believe in our govt.
they have disabused us of that comfort. as the left with all their I Love big Govt! until the govt isn't within their controlling paws.
Voting is mostly under control of the States. By the Constitution it is supposed to be under total control of the States but that boat sailed long ago.
And local authorities under Democrat control are not interested in going after vote fraud. And when they are forced to the punishment is not even a slap on the wrists.
187 162 There was a 20 something female at the bar spouting nonsense about Trump and his genocidal plans last night. I played along and told her had a 3 step plan and I saw it all laid out on Russian TV.
1.He plans to issue an EO outlawing panties, bras and
birth control pills
2. He will outsource the rounding up of the Jews and gays to the Russians.
3 The Russians will turn said jews and gays over to ISIS to be used in the next false flag terrorist attacks against San Francisco.
It was fun watching her try to process that.
Absolutely a case of projection. Events after the election have actually made me fearful for the first time. The rank hypocrisy concerning "respecting the results of the election" and the bizarre 180 degree turnaround in attitudes toward Russia are jaw-dropping.
The media DOhave power to shape opinions and they have been abusing that power for 15 years. They, like many other elites in our country, have abandoned all pretense at fulfilling their established roles in our society.
Laws without morals are in vain. Our elites have become immoral.
193 yes the media are still at work, I know Mr Trump is somewhat successful reaching around that but I honestly don't know if it is enough.
They as a group have become openly unhunged and I believe financed and supported by those same foundations that brought us blm and other hostile groupies throughout Bush's term.
and of course we have those on our side wanting to maintain their power at any cost to the country.
it;'s quite a sight to behold I hope we have the strength and stamina to fight. Trump at least fights back, But how do we keep the peace while weakening their daily tropes and visceral growing hatefes/ 3 year old rebellious freak outs at anything considered normal?
