Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | "Amazon Go" Market Will Let You Walk In, Walk Out Without Having to Pay Cashier... SomehowSupposedly a combination of camera technology, smart "algorithms" and something something adaptive learning something will inform your Amazon account which items you've bought and which you've put back. You check in with your Amazon app at the beginning of your shopping, then shop, then just walk out without paying for anything. Somehow the something something technology knows what you've taken and bills you later. You know what I'd like even better? I virtually shop, saying I want this this this and this, then I walk out without even carrying the stuff out. Then they deliver it later at some time I've scheduled. Like when you stop by a supermarket but have somewhere to go afterwards so you can't just keep the milk and ice cream in your car, getting warm. Lazy, I know. But a man can dream. Speaking of disruptive technology: Phillip Morris, the cigarette giant, is now eyeing dumping its actual tobacco lines in favor of e-cigarettes (and other smoking alternatives) only.believe there will come a moment in time where I would say we have sufficient adoption of these alternative products ... to start envisaging, together with governments, a phase-out period for cigarettes," Andre Calantzopoulos said in an interview on BBC Radio 4. "I hope this time will come soon," he added. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Not surprising that tobacco companies are trying to diversify as cigarettes are slowly being regulated out of existence. We're probably 30 or so years away from outright prohibition.

Mark of the Beast? I'll tell you something spooky. Art Bell, years ago had that lunatic Ed Dames, the "Remote Viewer" on many times. One time ol' Ed had been remote viewing just what the hell the visions in the Book of Revelation was about.
He said what John was seeing for the False Prophet was some sort of machine, not a person, and soon realized it was the boob tube. The TV. And thus he decided the False Prophet was mass media. That is what will deceive the world. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. That is all woo-woo shit, of course, but that Dames' shit could spook me every once in a while, and that was one of them. Also notice Reddit banned pizzagate but they keep the SubReddit Pedofriends where you can go and discuss your stories, strategies, and tactics for having sex with very young children. It's sick and wrong and they know it. The religion and art arguments hold zero water. Neither does its a disease excuse. A grocery store near me used to have the hand-held scanners that let you scan and bag your groceries as you shopped, and just pay at the checkout lane. It was great, but the last few times I used it the system wouldn't let me pay until somebody came over and checked all my items. This happened two or three times in a row, and the last time I was pretty furious. The whole point of using the scanner was to save time, and having somebody take all the my groceries out of my bag, rescan and rebag them was a huge waste of time. Plus, they never bagged them the way I liked. So I really let the store employees know I did not like the implication that I was stealing. I can understand the need to do some random checks, but every time I used the scanner was not random. The next time I went in the store the hand-held scanners were gone. Need I add that this store is in a heavily minority neighborhood?

Posted by: L, Elle at December 05, 2016 06:24 PM (6IPEM) When my parents were visiting while I was recovering from hip surgery, we went to Sam's Club to get a Hanukkah brisket. They didn't have real wheelchairs, only scooters about the size of golf carts that were like steering a cruise liner. I chose to wait in the car. Those things are awful. Funny part is, a few days before we'd gone to IKEA to get a guest bed for them, and they had actual no-kidding manual wheelchairs. I hate clothes shopping, so I've bought all my clothes from L.L. Bean for years. They have nice stuff, and I just look at the tag on my existing item for the size when it comes time to replace it. I've hardly ever had to exchange anything, and when I do, there's no problem.
The only exceptions are socks and underwear, which I've bought at Target. I'll try Wal-Mart next time. Posted by: rickl - THE MEDIA IS LYING TO YOU at December 05, 2016 06:53 PM (sdi6R) 397

You know how much I hate shopping? A couple years ago when it was time to replace my 23-year-old car which I has owned for 15 years, I bought a Consumer Reports car issue. I noted some that looked like something I might want, then planned to start looking at used cars.
But there was one new car which I could afford that I saw advertised, and it was marked down 15% from the sticker price. I went to the dealer, took a test drive, and signed the paperwork. First car I looked at. Bang. Done. Posted by: rickl - THE MEDIA IS LYING TO YOU at December 05, 2016 07:01 PM (sdi6R) 400
