How We Got Trump II: 2008, 2009, 2010

Gonna start again, right from the beginning of the abuses. The Obama campaign.

Polishing A Turd, Step 1: Greek Columns

Remember? During the Democratic National Convention in Colorado, an ABC reporter was arrested for taking pictures of big Dem donors from a public sidewalk in front of a hotel.

Here is the video of the arrest, where the police push him into traffic then yell at him for standing in the street.

As we know from watching the last eight years of coverage, like a battered wife, the media forgave quickly, of course.

No damn lobbyists in the Obama administration! Except for this guy, and this gal, and this guy...waivers...recusals...uhhh nevermind.

Stimulus! Had No! Effect! On economic recovery! Last update of Geoff's awesome graphic, showing the Obama team's original chart with post-stimulus data points overlaid, which are plainly far worse than Obama's 'no stimulus' scenario. But remember, these people are such economic geniuses.

Because they are not a free press, but Democrat shills: They will gladly co-produce an Obama White House Healthcare Lying Propaganda Special, but airing paid ads opposing Obamacare is 'partisan' and against their ad policy. Flawless logic!

And, remember? Nancy Pelosi on passing the ACA:

Apologist Tommy Christopher at Mediaite tried to put the famous Pelosi quote in context. But after reading the text, the context stubbornly remains the same.

Tommy seems to just be hoping that we didn't read the whole thing, and just assume his debunking was valid. Nope. Read it. Still means the same thing. It means "We are giving you permission to shut off your troublesome brain when opponents are reading you the direct contents of the bill. Sign here right now hurry."

So: on one hand, we were brazenly and treacherously told to wait until ACA passed before finding out what our representatives had just voted for.

On the other hand, when they offered clarifications (petulantly), we were straight up lied to by the president, his spokespeople, and the press (birm).

On the third hand, the conservatives who actually read the bill and told us that the political class was lying their pants off about it, were demonized at the time, but ultimately vindicated.

And this is how you got Trump.

Next week: Foreign Policy.

10 I'm geoff of "The Chart." I'd just like to say that the revised charts over the last 4 years are just as damning, if not as dramatic.

Should also note that we've been tracking Obama's pledges to double exports within 5 years (he didn't) and to add 1 million manufacturing jobs within 4 years (he didn't even come close). Plenty 'o charts at the site.

They didn't listen and now there is a smoking crater... Now the GOP could have listened too, they failed almost as much as the dems did and Trump left all of them in the dust. Lets hope he continues in the same vein. Crushing both partys without remorse.

116 Pepe, what they do is pass continuing resolutions, which just keep the same spending and shit going.

The Congressional Appropriations process is a complicate mess, but they're supposed to have 12 or so major appropriations bills. A budget is just sort of a guideline on what that will be. The Appropiations bills along with something called Authorization bills actually spend the money.

The CRs just keep the shit going as it for the next few months or whatever.

By doing it that way, they make the whole damn federal leviathan dependent on passing one damn bill, the CR at the last minute. If they don't the entire govt "shuts down" and they have a crisis. This is all theater.

Normally, any fight would be over one of the 12 bills. The entire govt would "shut down", it would just the parts covered in one of the 12.

153 As of Dec 2 (the DTS is always for the previous business day), Total Public Debt Oustanding was $19.881223T. That's 19 trillion, 881 billion, 223 million rounded to the nearest million.

That total consists of two components, Debt Held by the Public, and Intragovernmental Holdings.

The former is the real money borrowed (with some complications that are too complicated to detail in less than 100 paragraphs or so), while the latter is basically the trust funds, the IOUs the govt owes itself (this is how it's done. The trust funds are just IOUs the govt pretends to owe itself -- it is here they do the accounting tricks to keep under the debt limit when it expires during a Debt Limit Crisis theater -- and that is even more complicated).

Debt Held by the Public stands at $14.424639T.

It was incredible that Obama just did nothing --- and got a free pass from the MSM.

Also, didn't states sue Sect. of Interior Ken Salazar over some government report that used total lies to stop them from some of their cleanup efforts or oil drilling? Can't remember the details, but it was a sign of Obama shenanigans to come...

Slander, smear, ridicule and lie about the GOP candidate and keep the public's attention on trivial "scandals" ("OMG, did Sarah Palin really give birth to Trig?" "OMG, how much did Palin's clothes cost and who paid for them?" "OMG, binders of women!" "OMG, Sesame Street and Big Bird!")

The fat beauty queen and pussy-grabbing were meant to do what the other idiotic fake pearl clutching shit did - keep Trump from being taken seriously.

Right it is a mess. And I'm sure the accounting tricks are bananas the past 8 years.

From what I understand the last budget passed had the Obama stimulas. There has not been a budget passed since. That stimulas was included in spending for the fiscal year 09-10 (if I can recall correctly on dial up mobile speeds without looking). By NOT passing a budget, Congress and Obama were able to feed an additional stimulas each year via continuing resultions, based on increasing spending as a percentage of spending from the year before. Passing a budget would and will eliminate the yearly Obama stimulas.

The Conservative Tree House explains it the best. I believe that stimulus package being reauthorized each year via bypassing a budget is the SOLE reason why Congress has not passed a budget since the Obama stimulus.

We are dealing with liars, crooks, thieves, and pedophiles after all so what is a massive accounting tricks mean to these jokers?

FWIW, have a friend who has worked with criminally insane - her offhand assessment of Jill Stein is that she's a paranoid (not paranoid schizo). Apparently this happens a lot with well-educated people in middle age? Who knows.

If you look at her entry in wikipedia she had a nice career as a GP and then once she got on the local town council she started running for all kinds of public office in MA, crusades against dirty elections, etc.. So challenging election results is in her wheelhouse, but one has to wonder about the motivation for constantly running for office, always losing, when you've had a (seemingly) prosperous career.

Well, I'm not so sure. Bernie has charisma (although I don't see it), and the media would have been licking his boots all the way.

It would have been two populists - the born rich billionaire who lives in Trump Tower vs. this old dude who used to work as a carpenter. Hey, Joe Lunchbucket, who do you think really cares about you? Which guy knows what it's like to punch a clock?

At the same time they would be painting Bernie as an outsider, they would have highlighted his "experience" in politics.

No, it would have been close, but Bernie would have definitely peeled away some of the blue collar voters.

He won the Wisconsin primary. Trump didn't.

293 While we are talking about fixing things assholes have broken let's talk about College Football and how ESPN/ABC (Disney) have managed to Fuck that up.

Solution by Mike Leach a couple of years ago, which I agree with 100%. 10 regular season games. 9 conference games. Each conference has a championship. Then the 64 team playoff to decide the National Champions. Out of conference games are solved there. Winning 6 in a row in that tournament yields one true national champion. It would be ratings blowout. If the corporations get the sadz then they can buy ad time.

I'm over the bowl system and bull shit. Settle it on the field by winning 6 in a row against 64 teams.

322 Thank you, LauraW. I've long thought it would be more useful for Obama's replacement to have an "un-do list" rather than a "to-do list," given the damage he began doing the minute he took office. More important to fix that than to ignore it in favor of new shiny things.

324 The $850B Stimulus...was really $4+ trillion.

Dingy Harry refused to take up or pass budgets for five years so the country ran on continuing resolutions for all those years. In the CR world, last year's spending becomes the next fiscal year's baseline. Therefore, the $850B was rolled forward into the subsequent five years. That was nearly half the debt that Jug-ears racked up in eight years. FAR more than the "unpaid for" Iraq war.
